It’s very interesting, like it takes away “option paralysis”. Some might not like but not being able to turn the cab off but still a neat product. If they added a way to use your own IRs but I guess that would defeat the purpose of the “simpleness”. Still a great idea.
Honestly, I still don't get why you would buy it. Yes, it sounds really good, but there's only so much you can do to change the tone and stand out. Also, the idea of good tone out of the box, I think most Neural DSP plugins sound great out of the box, but then you can also tweak. If all you care about is jam with good tone, then it's good, but for anything else I don't see how it's worth the money.
Amps are pretty simple, it's only difficult when one wants a very specific tone. Just up the gain on any amp, it'll sound as good. I think this plugin is way too simple for the price...
it would be a great 10$ plugin. But you can basically buy any of full ampsims for 50 dollars and just choose the preset that you like and then tweak it when you'll feel comfortable enough with the plugin
The new version has a button to turn off the integrated cab so you can load an ir loader with the ones you like. I didn't like the stock one, but now I'm very happy with it
Jason (a genius) at JZIR Impulse Responses have made an IR that neutralize the one in Amp Knob so you can use your own. Signal chain is 1.Bogrens amp knob 2.IR loader with JZIRs neutralizing IR and 3 IR loader with the IR of your choice. Works fantastic and its free!
I suppose his IR neutralize the one in Amp Knob virtually not 100% properly, like disengaging the cab part from a studio Kemper profile. But i guess it's a nice workaround for now.
I downloaded the trial version. Made a comparison with some quality simulation like Neural DSP on the same DI track. This plugin sounds very good. It has a bit more presence in a mix.
sometimes you got an idea, open a plugin and start tweaking it, and as soon as you noticed, your not doing music but tweaking the plugin, so its a good tool to maximize your imagination instead of wasting time searching for a sound, make music first and then search for a specific sound, great
Had gotten Engl Savage 120 from Plugin Alliance for $20 when It was discounted, and used the $20 voucher they usually give time to time, so it had droped to $20 from $40.
