Today was the day I learned that changing gauges on a Floyd is gonna throw intonation out! Well my everything-but-intonation chops I learned on this channel helped me a LOT! Unrelated comment but thanks! My guitar literally sounds better - and I removed a fn buzz but just doing the adjustments myself and checking along the way! No longer scared to adjust truss! You're as awesome of a dude as a guitar player! Cheers!
It’s so cool to see you cranking that gain knob for that juicy punch🤘 Just re-listening to „Resurrection“ (my favorite!) and realizing, you guys always had a very gainy and juicy rhythm tone in Drop C, which I love! That goes against the modern trend of tuning lower and lower, so you have to reduce the gain to maintain clarity. Keep up the great work! Love your channel! And I hope to be able to purchase „Resurrection“ on vinyl some day❤️
Hey thanks dude! And to further your point, bands I grew up on like Metallica, Megadeth, and Slayer, were all in E, and to my ears, they were HEAVY! And so, it's all about the riffs and tone!
While they're all fantastic, the Trivium is my favorite. It's clarity and punch are unrivalled. Especially with my 7 string in drop A. Still has that punch in the crunch!
Came back to check this out after seeing the mlc is being given away for free right now, glad to hear it’s one of your favorites, now I can get writing some killer demos with it 🤘
hey rob i know you don’t usually do any breakdowns on projects, but your song the summit would be such a cool playthrough or breakdown! song was so good i think i had it on repeat atleast 10 times 😂
I get the appeal to use these in audio production. But if you have a dual purpose set up (playing and recording) i would recommend the full suite MLC plugin - which is what i have. I like the fact you can tailor the sound more to your liking... Theres overdrives, reverb and delay pedals a full EQ, plus there is a cab section eith different mics... Seems more worth it for the money compared to them neural DSP plugins in my opinion...
Totally agree with the tone being inspiring. Playing Deftones type riffs with VHT/P50E type tones feels right just because it has that early 2000's dryness to it. Also if you catch this Rob, what was it like working with Zeuss on The Infection? There's not enough information about that guy out there. His stuff sounds killer.
Met Zuess a couple times and he was always super cool. As far as working with him though, it's always been remotely. So he'd do his thing, and we'd send notes via email. He'd knock em' out or we'd discuss, then move on. So unfortunately, nothing too exciting!
Solid video man, on a side note I've been listening to a lot of Pass Out of Existence and This Present Darkness albums again, but at the gym lately cause music and lyrics go hard. Lets goooooooooo
Hey Rob.. speaking of editing videos.. I'm wondering what the status is on the Blu-Ray/DVD from Chimaira's reunion show last year. I know there's fan footage on UA-cam but I've been holding out waiting to see what you guys put together.
Man I wish I knew... it's a bummer it hasn't arrived yet. I actually have nothing to do with the process of releasing it, so I don't know where it's caught up or whatever, and I haven't asked. I wish I hadn't spoken too soon!
Awesome vids, awesome playing. Love the music. Just bought myself a nice guitar. Need to get this thing hooked up to the pc and learn how to play, lol. Your vids are gonna be extremely helpful. Need to find your music so i can check more of it out. Thank you, sir. Wondering how you would get different effects in real time. Like adding delay when wanted, erc. Thanks.
Cool! Happy to be a part of your guitar journey, and I appreciate you tuning in! There are many ways to add effects in real time, but it all depends on your setup. You can always automate fx on and off from within your DAW, or you can simply use a pedal, like a stomp box or multi-fx unit. And if some or all of that doesn't quite make sense yet, it eventually will. Just jump in and get started, and your guitar universe will quickly broaden!
With the Krihm drums, are you using a dialed and customized preset you made or was the just a straight stock preset? I downloaded the free version to test after your last ampknob video and it sounds fantastic. Been considering buying the full version
Ok, watched rest of vid, then went back with my headphones. Slight changes and I appreciated your descriptions, drier, thinner etc... I found myself lost in the fact that I felt like I was listening to a section of an unreleased Chimaira song 🔥🤘 The differences to me anyway, was slight. The least favorite was the Trivium ampknob. Atleast compared to the others. Theres my opinions. Been awhile since I have commented. Cheers to you and your fam Rob. Question. Do you do anything special for long term Patreon supporters? Cool man! And yes, the differences were quite negligible. As far as annual milestone perks for longtime patrons, that's something I've never thought about actually, but perhaps I'll consider! Less formally however, I do note when I'm sending someone something, like a giveaway prize, or my DVD for example, if they've been a longtime supporter... And I'll often hook them up with something extra and special. Like some rare guitar pick, or some extra memorabilia of some type, just as an extra thank you. I've appreciate your longtime support here and on Patreon bro! Cheers! 👊🤘
@RobArnoldWorld lol! I'm sorry, I didn't mean to make it sound like that. I didn't mean to suggest that trivium sounds like every other metal band. I will say that I've listened to a couple different promos from a couple different people, and they all sounded very similar.

The main difference between them all is the IR IMO, if you use the same IR on each of the 5150 knobs, the difference is even less.

Hey Rob, how do you implement the bass knob on programmed bass? Do you just it on top of the tone the vst already has and the tones just mix?
Exactly! I get a decent bass sound going with a virtual instrument, even like a piano... then I put a bass plugin on top of it and dial it all in!
