@@danymalsound hang on, didn't Amplitube and Guitar Rig have this from way back in like 2008?! Maybe I'm wrong but I know a lot of guitar plugins had this option at least 15yrs ago
This thing is just insane! Last year my friends from Fleshgod Apocalypse came to my town and after the show I was wondering what amp they are using cause the sound was just crushing. The answer? The original version of Bogren Digital. Both guitarist, just one laptop, straight to PA and to their in-ear monitoring. I was blowned away!
nice try homie, this is the Kazrog Ampcraft sim decked out as a one knob, the whole technology has been out for almost a decade yet these punks got together cause the market for plugins is so saturated, especially sims, they cant sell plugins any more so the lying is now a norm
One of the few OG amp sims that still hold up against the modern ones. It's not the oldest one per se, but the original free X50 has a decade under it's belt.
Yup I got the 66o6 -- Not for the VST but for the standalone to practice guitar on. The riff recorder, tuner, and metronome are total wins. I got my burn practicing my downpicking and a few trippy licks. Such an awesome tool. The lack of knobs makes it less distracting so there's less tweaking, more playing. Minimal, simple, and humble. I love it. I can say, if you're not the kind of guitarist with guitars and gear cluttering your space and you only like having one or two guitars and a small handful of your favorite pedals etc. this is a great amp sim to buy. Minimalism rules. Guitarists are more powerful this way, you get to focus on what matters. IMHO it's about what the money can't buy, like discipline on that metronome lolz :D
The Rec function is actually amazing! Sometimes riffs just comes when you jam and having to load up your DAW and fight with it is not necessarily something you want at that point and then you resort to your phone or something instead. I wish more plugins would have this. I used to write so many riffs on my small Boss Loopstation back in the day and bring it to band rehearsal.
Sounded great from the get go. But when you switched to the III, I suddenly got interested in buying this. It's got the definition you'd want for 8-strings / dropped tunings. Sounds very amp-like to me. More limited, but tone sounds up there with the Neural DSP Fortin Nameless X, even if it's not as tweakable. The BassKnob sounds great too. I like the BDH a little more than their Rev C, but it's just that the Rev C is quite thumpy/slightly, where the BDH are very forward and present.
The 5169 is, no lie, possibly the best vst I've ever used for metal rhythm guitar. It's absolutely idiot proof... the simplistic approach is good if you're like me and can easily fall down OCD rabbit holes malding over mic positions, pedals, EQ knobs, amp switches, virtual mic positions, which included impulse response to use, etc. Just. One. Fucking. Knob. It would be a problem if it sounded bad, but it sounds terrific. It slotted comfortably into one of my mixes with minimal EQ adjustment, and it is right up there with my favorite guitar vst's like Neural DSP's Archetype: Petrucci and Mesa Boogie Mark IIC+ Suite. I scored it for a measly 25 dollars, but even at the full price of 50 dollars, it's a steal.
I'd love to see you use a £50-£200 audio interface and show us how to make the most of a range of plugins ranging from free to pricey. I.E ML Roots to Neural DSP Gojira etc and all in between. Inflation is precluding most of us on a tone quest from being able to get there or experience what's on offer. We need your help with this Ola. x
As someone who has spent years grinding away trying to find my perfect tone with little success, I hated the idea of getting such a good sound in seconds. But I've got to hand it to Jens Bogren, he's come up with 3 (4 if you count the RevC) of the best metal amp plugins I've ever tried. Am I a bit disappointed that I'm happy using a plugin that ignores my years of pain? A bit. Am I willing to forego that and have a guitar sound crafted by one of the legends of metal music production? It would be silly not to. Besides, switching out the cab changes the sound significantly enough that we all won't end up sounding the same.
Don’t know what you were playing towards the end when the camera was just on you but damn that was a tasty sob right there ola you are impressive buddy
WTF!! I thought you were only coming into my timeline on Sundays! Ahh Fucc.. can never get enuff Ohla.. thanks for the extra videos lately. Keep it up!!
I really like these. I tend to just dial in my amps and leave them anyways. If I want to change the tone I'll swap out IR's before messing with amp settings. So the one knob format works really well in my opinion. And these sound great, on par with much more expensive plugins that have lots of ways to make it sound terrible.
Yeah I find I don't like tweaking plugins. With the Gojira plugin I tend to just turn on the overdrive, switch it to the high gain amp and leave everything on default settings. With every amp sound I adapt my playing to the tone, and end up sounding like me. Tone is in the fingers, if you get a good sound, why do you need a million perimeters that you can tweak? These plugins make sense. One knob. And I don't even tweak that lol.
I’ve been searching for Eddie’s 5150-era tone for three years using Helix amps and this fuckin thing blows all of my effort away and does so beautifully lol I love it!!!!
Did a comparaison with THU to see if the amp and preamp stage were better sounding. Not at all. They seem the same. This an excellent "no brainer" plugin however
Honestly I think these are not just "pretty good for the money." I wanted to love the Neural sims (have the SLO and Fortin) but my god the amount of noise, and the harsh transients. If I want to EQ the Bogren I can just add an EQ, with whatever centre frequency I want. This is what I loved about my JCM heads, the EQ barely works anyway; they just sound good and I play them.
i got a question for the amp sim to sound the best do you need studio monitors ? i been using studio headphones and i feel like the sound isnt quite there . like pinch harmonics are difficult to get.
can u tell if it's light on DSP? would be cool to keep use this on live playing sessions with other resources and not worrying about DSP. Becuse playing with neural stuff and other DSP hungry stuff can really push my system.
Geeez, I never got anything even close to that sound with any 5150 simulation ever. Doesn't matter what IR I'm running it through. Does anyone have any advice on how to dial up a 5150 in order to get a tone close to this?
if i need to boost/modified my lead tone using something like TS9/TS808 (Digital) , how can i do that? Just place another digital plugin of TS9 before the ampknob?
I tried selecting both input channels on my Steinberg UR12 Interface on this amp sim and EVERY TIME I did it, both input and output would go to none. Does anyone here have a solution to that? It is starting to frustrate me getting this to work
The recording option to quickly capture ideas is genius!
Not many seem to know this, but BiasFX2 has had that feature for several years : ) Bogren sounds way better, though!

I love that I can load these up and not go down a tone questing rabbit hole… I get distracted easily 😂
Seriously. I’ll go to write for awhile and then realize I spent 3 hours trying to dial in a tone and it’s now 4am
