You can also just remove the middle extension. Only issue is the male locator plug in the hand piece which needs to be shortened if you need to push the shaft all the way in.
Should work well, you can also just use the bottom shaft and if you trim the plastic locator knob under the head, you can move the shaft up a few more inches but you need to drill another hole for the spring loaded button, you end up with the perfect length. Good luck!
Nice shaft fix! It will be interesting to see equinox vs excalibur under water. Although we know the ex will go much deeper under water, I believe it's 200 feet under water
Thankyou for the tips Gigmaster! Just for this I’ve subbed and liked .... just how trustable is the Equinox underwater.... if my coil connection is snugged up. Cringe. What else can be done to make it even more resistant to moisture? I’m just a little sceptical. 💦💦☔️
Dude i dig the conversion you made. I find the nox a little difficult to maneuver under water. Ive also had the absolute worst luck with it. I can crush it on the dry sand in beach 1 no problem, but as soon as im in the very wet sand or under the water in beach two - i struggle to even find something to dig, and this is a n area that should have plenty to dig. I usually run the sensitivity at 17 under water. I tried the settings you recommended in your other video last night snorkeling for about 2 hours and didnt dig one target!! I got a couple of hits but wasnt able to hone in on them and eventyally just lost sight of the targets location. After awhile i just factory reset and did the normal settings in beach 2 and got one target. Any tips for improving my under water game? I find it hard to believe that i am just this unlucky. But as far as beach hunting goes in the dry sand i love it. But im really trying to use it for snorkeling.
Wow Gigmaster, you are quite the innovative MacGyver. So you've been using an "Excalibur" these past few days to find all of that good stuff, but the Equinox mod will do even better? Waterproof headphones, never heard of them, are they expensive and work well?
Thanks Gigman!! I loved this idea and modified my Equinox with the same concept to give me a shorter reach. Thanks again!!

Make sure you seal the wood wood expands when it’s wet.
Welsh Relics Good idea.
Thanks buddy 👍
I was thinking the same thing @Welsh Relics
What a great idea! I imagine a longer version could come in handy if I ever break my main shaft or part of it. Thanks for sharing!
BeamDigger It would be an excellent quick fix idea.

Looks good. I would have Anderson cut and drill a short piece of carbon fiber shaft and add the 6" search coil from Minelab.
I appreciate this video once again Steve great job gig.

Greg Halford I will stay under 10 with the equinox.
When he said the Equinox would go a little bit deeper I had to listen again but he means target depth.
Great idea! You can also use the rest of the shovel as a quick digger/fanner if it’s plastic!!
Merryl Bustin Good idea!
Thank you G-Master..!!
The "GigNox" ready for action! Let's get on up!
Any word from Jared or Max about any mods they did to their CTXs for underwater use?
The Chad Just a short shaft. Jared ordered one.
That's why my excall is short for giving. I just use my equinox for the beach. When I dive it on Spanish wrecks, 90 to 100 ft.
george potthast That sounds interesting! Any good finds in the wrecks? Bars of gold???
You can see all my finds at the Mel fisher Museum in Florida all I got to keep was my first Spanish coin
Awesome, cant wait to see the underwater setup in action.
You should get a shaft made the same size of what you are using

Very cool does the stainless steel pick up on the coil
GREAT modification.....Looking forward to seeing the practical application...
That’s it...we are getting married!
Good Mod for Equinox underwater.how is the best setting underwater? (sea).thanks
Who makes your Equinox phones ?

Nice mod, can't wait to see it in action. GL HH.
Always inventing. Clever man.
Make sure the water is no more than 3 metres 😁
so how did it work, how deep did you go with it?
jerry cox Worked great! No more than 10ft!
Good stuff. Would love to get into the diving aspect of detecting. Great motivation here. Thank you sir.
Wayne_etc Outdoors Definitely more dangerous. 🙂

Car1Sagan headphones work good but equinox is low.
Good deal happy hunting
Remember the old days and they had metal wing nuts of the coil concoction, but it worked"
Think ill 3D print a new tube instead...
Good job gigmaster. Carl HH
The Yard Dogs Thanks!
cool mod :)
I hope we don't have to read a "my nox leaks thread again" it isn't made for diving.
Green Meanie Me too!
Did you find a way to make it louder so when under water you can hear it? I am thinking it might be hard to hear when under and bubbles.
Green Meanie Working on that problem.
You are amazing.
