    Good clear video ! The default settings are more than adequate for me---reckon the engineers have done a good job overall. Not much need to over complicate the machine.

    I auto ground balance in field, park and beach mode. If the VDI chagnes from 0 to any other number, that tells me the coil is phased with the ground and cancels the ground out. I did not know you didn't have to not ground balance. I do it out of habit. Not only this, but I ground balance and noise cancel every 15 min or so during a hunt. The ground balance VDI can shift quite a bit from place to place on the same field or park i am hunting. I'll try a few hunts without ground balancing, but I know it'll bother me in the back of my mind. I hesitate on auto track ground balance, I do not want the unit to cancel out a good target after a few swings over it. Nice vid S.

    Good stuff. I'm very interested in this because I think my next machine is going to be the Minelab Vanquish 540 when it ships. The Vanquish is essentially a Nox that has factory defaults with very little capability to adjust them. One of the features that I'm worried about is the fixed ground balance. I believe the Vanquish probably ships with ground balance set to zero like the default Nox setting. So I'm interested in knowing how much the ability to adjust ground balance on the Nox benefits you. Clearly it is beneficial in mineralized conditions. But here in Ohio, we don't have much mineralized soil or salt water beaches. I believe the Vanquish would be "good enough" for the majority of my detecting. But I'm eager to see your additional testing with the Nox.

    Gig, thanks for this video, several of my friends were hoping to see how to ground balance the NOX, I do not change the G/D the default work just fine, some of my friends live where the soil has lots of mineralization , some have said that they now G/B and are able to find good relics pretty deep, they told me to thank you for the video.

    Great vid Mr Gig.
    I find the hardest part is finding a clean patch in our local parks. Usually let the machine do it to start and then adjust/switch as needed till it quiets down.
    Takes a few minutes but, once its good....it stays good. Beach...depends on location but I can usually get 22-25 sensitivity with no issues.

    Ground balancing any detector will make it work better, som why not? I run tracking because the ground in my hunting grounds can change real easy, and why not always have it correct? If you manual GB you'll find that after a while into your hunt the ground may change. So just run tracking.. always.

    Good morning Steve, my question is have you or anyone you know every used the NOX inside a cave. Where I live their's a cave that goes over4,000 feet horizontal Just wondering if the NOX would work as far as ground balancing and performance.? This cave is used by many cave dewellers I myself never been down inside the cave which I have lived near the cave for over 30 years can't get up the nerve and as well equipment to go down inside .

I saw your video explaining the chirping caused by the phone. I wanted to send it back to minelab. Will try Ground balance next. I just do not know why all of a sudden I'm have problems in the same area I have been detecting. Thanks.

    I would guess , if you do a test , it may seem to detect a little deeper when ground balanced. However , I would think it would be more of a sensitivity helper by eliminating the background noise so the detector is reading a cleaner signal making it more able to read a tiny target or something deep. Like tuning in a radio station before all the digital tuners . You get better reception.

    Steve, question for you. I am running an 800 with Detect-ed shaft and am having a lot of chirping when in the water past the collar where the two shafts connect. any chance the detector is picking up the metal screws in the collar? it is quite as a mouse when on dry sand and shin deep water. the minute I go past that collar it starts chirping... Any ideas?

    • @Gigmaster
      @Gigmaster  4 роки тому

      Make sure the coil wire is not moving. It could be picking up the coil wire moving in the water.
