- I have written my first guest blog post for Love Notions and I've chosen to discuss precautions that are needed to be able to tackle the most wonderful fabric ever: Chiffon. I have made three Rhapsody blouses with chiffon fabric and I am sharing all the tips on the blog and showing them here on the channel.

My specifics:
* For reference, 41-34-44 at 5ft 8"
* Size 12 blended to 14 at the hips
* Lowered by 1" the bust dart
* Added Fish eye darts at the back. This reduced the waist circumference by 6cm (2.5") giving definition and shaping at the back.
* Lowered front neckline by 1"
* Polyester sheer fabric, unknown content. Woven.
* I used 112cm to make this top. The requirement was 170cm.
I'm happy with the result and will be using this pattern again to create a dress and other versions!

I absolutely love the coral flowered blouse!
Beautful garments as always!
Stunning! 🤗🤗🤗
Thank you so much ☺️. You need to make it too, such a nice blouse 👚.
Your bias binding is perfection.
Thank you so much 😊. Hand basting is the key. Takes a while longer but it’s so worth it.
I really love the coral border print fabric, it's soooo pretty. I also love the blouse design.
Thank you so much. It’s a great design.
Absolutely gorgeous!
Karina all your versions are so pretty. You are so talented x
Karina what are you doing to me?! I looked up one of your Rhapsody blouse videos because I wanted to replace a facing one a blouse with binding. Ended up putting my pattern away and downloaded the Rhapsody from Love Notions (using your affiliate link of course - thank you!). You are so very inspirational and I love your attention to detail. I have been sewing for a king time but have learned so much from you. Love and best wishes for 2021 from England x
I love watching you work with chiffon and make beautiful tops with it. Here we would need exactly 0 tops in chiffon. I exaggerate, maybe 2 days a year, in the summer during the heat of the day. Voile would be about the lightest fabric I would use for a summer top. So I will enjoy watching you make this one.
I understand. I used to live in New Zealand and even in the summer it was cold. With 18 I’d be inside the ocean lol. Now I’m making the things I always wanted to make.
I love all of them especially the bright one. I am so happy to see you working with Love Notions they are my favorite pattern company, Itch to stitch is my other favorite
( I think I have over half theirs already)
Going to buy this pattern now !!!!&
Well we have in common out fave pattern companies :) . I actually have a high standard and they tick the boxes for me. I also have so many of their patterns. This blouse pattern is truly addictive and I’ve already planned a hack. Thank you so much 😊
I love the pattern placement on the dress. All your projects look like successes!
They are great successes! I love them all.
Your tops are beautiful and the pink is especially stunning! I am not brave enough for chiffon.
I bought the pattern and just finished this yesterday. It was my first time working with a chiffon type fabric. Your blog post was very helpful! It was much easier than I expected. However, making the bias binding was very time consuming. I applaud your patience! The blouse turned out very nice! Thanks for bringing us all of these makes as it is really helpful and makes me willing to try new things.
Bias tape is Tim’s consuming for sure but it’s worth it because it’s so pretty. I think not every male should be fast fast. The chiffon ones are extra special. I’m glad my post was helpful.
Wow, just wow! Your blouses are always beautiful but these are really stunning. I really love how you did the coral-y border print, and that bright one looks fabulous on you
The coral one is a step out of my comfort zone colorwise and I’m glad I tried it because I love it. Thank you so much 😊
Wow, 🌸 those blouses & dress are lushly beautiful Karina! The flowy fabrics, and how you used these, are dreamy.✨
Thank you so much 😊. These are always a pleasure to sew and wear.
Beautiful! Love your fabric choices!
Thank you so much. Pairing pattern to fabric is a process that takes me 2 seconds or several days. I have to “feel it” lol.
As always, your blouses are beautiful Karina! Light colours really suit your colouring (that first blouse looked especially stunning on you). Your finish is always second to none and your garments look like they were bought from a high end boutique! TFS 👍❤
Thank you so much 😊. I take my time and do things with care. I’m glad it shows.
Love your tops! I was in Spotlight and purchased a bunch of chiffon type fabric from the sale table! You’ve inspired me to maybe use it on the rhapsody top! I don’t think I’ve ever sewn with this fabric but it’s pretty.
Karina, I think you make the most beautiful clothes 💗and you are tempting me to try sewing with chiffon 😃
You can! Just a few extra measures and going slower but it’s worth it.
They’re all gorgeous 😍. I know I definitely need more 😂😂
Button ones are next !
Haya. Your makes are just sew beautiful, you certainly work with challenging fabrics. The prints on all of them are lovely. Thanku for sharing. Anna. x
I have sooooo much of this type of fabric and am always drawn to it. It’s lovely to wear. Thanks for watching 😊.
Love you blouses and dress!! They all turned out pretty and look great on you! Especially the bright sleeveless one- my favorite!!
Thank you so much 😊
Both of your Rhapsody blouses and the dress are gorgeous, Karina! Your blog post was excellent with great tips for sewing with slippery fabric. Hand basting is time consuming but I actually enjoy it and the finished results are well worth it. I've purchased the pattern using your affiliate link and plan to make this blouse with a lovely lightweight fabric that has been in my stash for years.:)
I don’t mind hand basting at all. It’s relaxing, as you say and knowing it’ll make a huge difference, I do it gladly. Thank you so much.
Karina, I am sure you have made Love Notions very proud. Love your fabric choices. I have made this pattern also but the garment was scoffed up by my sons friend. I have yet to sew another but plan to soon. Thanks for all your videos you are inspiring!
Your sons friend did what to your blouse? 😱. You need more in your life then. I see an addiction coming with this pattern.
Very creative. Wow! You are so good. I am jealous. Thanks for sharing your tips to sew chiffon. I have yards chiffon on my stash, maybe this week...Fingers crossed.
Just do it 😊. A simple project to start with to ease into it. Thanks for watching 😊.
Very pretty! Nice blogpost too! I just grabbed the pattern. It will be perfect for summer!
It will. This pattern is addictive!
Gorgeous!
Thank you so much 😊
These are adorable blouses Karina! I love the fabric to use, it’s always so beautiful! Thanks for the review I may check this pattern out!
It was voted one of the best patterns of 2018 on pattern review... I agree! It’s great for summer. Thank you so much 😊.
You are really inspirational. I love the colours you choose and you have mastered the perfect fit for yourself. Thanks for the lovely vlogs. I am catching up at the moment and enjoying it all. : )
Thank you so much for your kind words :)
Hi Karina! I just realized that I had some chiffon & thought I would give it a go after watching your video & reading the Love Notions blog you made. This is my 6th Rhapsody but my 1st one in chiffon! I made my own bias tape & it was a bit fiddly to draw those lines but I did it. I'm using the flutter sleeve on mine & have already made a narrow hem on them. If I have enough bias tape, I think I'll hem the bottom with that too. Thank you for writing the blog as well as this video!!
I wasn't sure that I would have been able to tackle this without your help ❤️
How exciting! So happy you’ve taken the leap 😄
What's a lovely first print fabric!
Thank you so much 😊.
Do you have a tutorial hoeing how you make your bias binding with the chiffon? I would love to see that.
It’s the same as making bias tape with any fabric. The only difference is that I sprayed it soaking wet with starch spray before passing it through the bias tape maker. That’s it :)
Lifting Pins and Needles ahhhh yes good starch is a lifesaver. I’m a quilter and so I keep tons of starch on hand. And now that you said that I think I remember you mentioning that in a previous video.
All of the blouses are beautiful. The way you used the ombre border print was inspirational. On the sleeveless versions, it looks like the front armhole is a bit wide (extends past the arm crease). I think I might find that irritating.
Thank you. It’s hard to find ombré prints like that. The armcyse being wider is noticeable on the red one because I didn’t trim the seam allowance to put the binding in a visible way. The grey dress is further into the armcyse because I bound the armcyse traditionally into the garment... so there it scoops in. In any case, the shape can be modified slightly. My preference is not to have my armpit showing ever. Thank you for watching 😊
Do you have a video that deals with pre-washing and drying of delicate fabrics like chiffon or silk or rayon?
Hi, I know this is an older post but hopefully you see this and can answer my question anyway. My question is about using chiffon fabric in general. I tried taking in a chiffon top that was too big for me and the seam pulled like it was getting gathered. Why is that? I used a 2.5 stitch length. Was that too big or is there other reasons that might happen? I don't want to try making something in chiffon until I know what I'm doing wrong.
