    It never occurred to me to use a slightly smaller button in the button foot gauge in order to have a more secure fitting. Great idea Katrina.

    I don’t think that I’ve ever understitched the bias binding on the sleeves and necklines! It’s the little things that make the difference. The top and dress are amazing on you. Another pattern I have to add to my collection. YAY!

      If you look at RTW with bias binding, you’ll se the under Stitch and the top stitch. For many years, studying how RTW was made, was my actual sewing school. I hope you like the pattern, it’s very feminine.

      I LOVE topstitching but I’ll add the understitching. I’m the benefactor of your RTW sewing school (amongst others)! I bought the pattern from your link. It’s in the queue!

    You do get your makes to fit you really well. The fabric also drapes so well. My hubby is threatening to stop me watching your vlogs coz I want to buy all the patterns! Lol This is a battle he will NOT win.....😁

      That is so funny about your husband. Fit for me is paramount and I have a pretty high standard. Saying that, fitting Love Notions has been easy for me. All I usually do is drop the bust dart and lengthen skirts/bodices a tad because I’m taller.

    Yay, I just got the Lyric on sale *again*, ha ha! I guess the sales are fairly cyclical. Anyway, I hoped you'd have a video, Karina, and it even looks like there's 2! Yes, after getting back into sewing more the last few years I am getting a touch bored with knit fabrics-- just in the sense that they don't look classic. This dress is SO classic! Super excited to make my muslin very soon, I hope. I love all your tips. I sure don't need to sew *more* (too many makes already!) But what I sew from now on I want to be really carefully done. All the understitching and topstitching, yes, please!! ❤😊

    Karina, it's almost as if Love Notions designed this pattern with you in mind-both the top & dress are gorgeous on you! The red crepe is such a lovely colour and the tropical fabric-wow! Great construction tips-as always. I've used your method to lower bust darts and would love some tips on shortening darts-could you possibly demonstrate your method? Thanks for sharing this fab pattern! 😊

    What a great pattern, and as always you did a fantastic job. It's nice to see a very feminine pattern without ruffles and frills. (Sorry all of the ruffle lovers out there). A nice classic that doesn't really go out of style. The crepe isn't hot in your climate?

    • @LiftingPinsandNeedles
      @LiftingPinsandNeedles  5 років тому +2

      Hello, I’m a proud frills and ruffles disliker 😂, hence the absence of those in my makes. I agree, this is a classic design and timeless. The crepe is not hot for me. I’m mostly in air conditioned areas. The weather now is becoming nice in autumn 🍂. Thanks for watching 😊.

      @@LiftingPinsandNeedles That's the problem with weddings. You have no say in what the bride thinks is the 'look' for her special day. It was the early 70's, pink and white checked gingham and I remember standing there at the alter thinking to myself..:This marriage is not going to last' and they got divorced 18 months later. Thanks for the chat and that silly memory.

    • @LiftingPinsandNeedles
      @LiftingPinsandNeedles  5 років тому +1

      Believe me, there’s no sack quality to this dress with all the darts. I tend to feel a bit sack-like in a midi length though. At the end of the day, it’s all about how we feel isn’t it? I’m super happy with both 😊

    Karina it's a lovely top and dress, perfect fit and flair style without being overwhelming. Thanks for sharing your trick of using a button slightly smaller to ensure right sized button holes. How do you attached your buttons; by hand or by machine?

    • @LiftingPinsandNeedles
      @LiftingPinsandNeedles  5 років тому +1

      Thank you so much 😊. I do my buttons old school: by hand. I don’t have the foot to do it by machine and I’d rather match them exactly to my buttonholes one by one.

    I just bought this pattern today on Love Notions' huge sale! So excited because it looks so versatile! I am going to try to lengthen the bodice to make a straight (without peplum) shirt. Do you think that will work?

    • @LiftingPinsandNeedles
      @LiftingPinsandNeedles  3 роки тому

      You’d need to adapt it quite a lot actually, to get it to fit your hips. I did something similar with the Sonata dress. You can see it here and apply the same Concept : ua-cam.com/video/Qphfuk-0_5A/v-deo.html
