- I’ve made 2 new Rhapsody dresses, one with chiffon and the other with a rayon spandex! This pattern is for woven fabric only, but I was obsessed with the idea of this style in this stripe knit fabric. I made it happen, not without extra work. I am sharing sewing footage of both versions. This is one of my fave patterns of all time.

karina you are adorable its so nice to see your excitement
Thank you so much 😊. Sewing is pulling me over what’s going on.
Any technique (like the v) you are willing to film and share is icing on the cake to me watching your sewing videos.
I sure will. This time I didn’t have time to film and experiment at the same time
Your management of the striped neckband is very insightful.
It took a while to get just right :)
Worth it!
Seriously challenging makes....but you are the Queen of triumphing with difficult fabrics!!!! Well done. I bought the pattern a couple of months ago, and very inspired to make it for mum and me xxxx
It’s a lovely design and these fabrics make the experience unique and a pride to wear when they are done :)
@@LiftingPinsandNeedles absolutely you should wear them with pride. You look fabulous xxx
I love both the green and striped dresses. Thanks for showing the precise sewing.
What fun to watch you work..the stripe is beautiful. ..it is always worth it to do things right to begin with...from Tennessee
Thank you so much 😊. I’ve confirmed over and over that I can avoid the seam ripper this way.
Both dresses turned out perfectly!
Thanks you so much:)
I adore the striped knit version!
Thank you so much 😊
Beautiful dresses. Patience? Hmmm…bless you for having it. I think I would go cross-eyed working with the black and white knit. It was well worth it. It is a beautiful dress. Thank you for showing what can be done. You are very inspiring and positive. So very nice.
I am very interested in seeing the v neck tutorial. The dresses turned out beautiful.
Thank you so much 😊
Of course I would like to see how you make your V neck 😀. I already sewn 2 blouses. I really love this pattern too. Thank you Karina 👍💟
You are so welcome! I can see a fancy type knit blouse too so I will film.
@@LiftingPinsandNeedles Cool. Thank you in advance Karina 😀
You do beautiful hand sewing. It's so perfect and even!
I think the belt really looks great with the dress.
Great work.
Wow Karina. Thanks for going above and beyond as always. Love your knit. dress. Sigh! Maybe one day. Love the woven too! 🌺
The knit one is super comfy and the extra work was totally worth it :)
You are amazing, as always. Your attention to detail is remarkable and your garment results show that it's worth the time and effort. I have been following you for a while and you are a wonderful source of sewing expertise on all levels. Thank you for all that you do.
J
I’m glad you’ve supported me by watching my content for a long time. It’s an honor. Thank you so much 😊.
Haya. Hope all is good with you? Exquisite execution on all the finer details, how you work with such difficult fabrics is mind blowing, I have sewn with Chiffon a couple times & had ok results (practice makes perfect I guess, right?) All your outfits are just beautiful. I appreciate ALL your hard work in all that you do to bring us everything on your channel. Thanku for sharing. xx
The winter Rhapsody is by far my favorite on you. I also like the way you did the neckline on that one with the facing. I actually think the winter dress might be the absolute, overall best looking dress on you.
Both dresses are beautiful. I appreciate your attention to detail.
Thank you so much 😊
The stripes are fabulous. Why wouldn't we want to see your expertise making such a neat neckline? I want to see it please.
Thank you so much. I mention this because I have proven time and time again... when I show a more advanced technique, the views for that video are super super mega low. I question if to do all that work producing a video that very few will be interested to watch. A video with very low views hurts the UA-cam algorithm for my channel.
@@LiftingPinsandNeedles I understand Karina, it is a lot of work and this is your income. I love your videos anyway. Stay safe and keep sewing.
I’ll
Probably sneak that technique into a video that’s related to the topic but not just the tutorial :)
You are a genius. I loved your tip about spray starch. I would never have thought of that!Thank you!! :)
That spray is a saver! It helps me do so many things :)
@@LiftingPinsandNeedles :)
Katrina ~ You are such a talented seamstress! I love what you did with the striped dress! Your skill sharing is so generous and I am so happy to have your tutelage!!
Thank you so much 😊. I loved making the stripey dress, so fun :)
I love that striped dress!! Awesome sew!
Thank you so much 😊. I very happy with this dress.
Love the dresses you made .xx
Thank you! 😊
Love when you push a pattern further to give more options. I love knits and usually restrict myself to patterns using them, but you have opened up new ways to use my knits in place of wovens. Thank you so, so much!!
So many things are possible with sewing and I love stretching the boundaries :)
That stripey dress turned out absolutely stunning! Your attention to detail and patience to bring about your vision really paid off! 💜
Great job! Very pretty striped dress. You are a wonderful maker.
The point of a V is a vulnerable place where many garments will fall apart after several washings. And, framing the face, it is very important to get the neckline right. That you went to so much trouble to make that stripey neckline perfect, turned your dress into a sophisticated classic that will last years as a staple in your wardrobe ... which must be pretty considerable at this point.
😉😉😉
It’s considerably large yes but I have the best excuse for it lol: it’s my job to make clothes to show on the channel 😁. I agree. The V is the main point people will see and taking the time to get it right was needed and worth it.
@@LiftingPinsandNeedles Hmm I'm not sure you have everything with you, but it might be fun to have a closet tour some day. 💜💜💜
Love the stripes.
Thank you so much 😊
Karina, Pretty dresses! You really did a wonderful job on the stripe v-neck! Always love your attention to detail! Take care.
Thank you so much 😊. These are super special.
Genius! I was thinking the black thread was going to show on the tie, but you changed the bobbin to cream!! Love it!
I always look that things like that and it’s not uncommon for me to use different colors :)
Your creativity is limitless!
Thank you so much 😊
Thank you for taking the time and care in showing us your projects. I'm a new subscriber, your channel is brilliant and so encouraging! I too have been sewing for 30 years and always love a new challenge and learning new techniques. I also appreciate your unconventional approach with some techniques. I totally agree, you learn what works when you've been sewing for so many years, just because it's not a text book technique, it doesn't mean it wont work! ;) Your channel is truly a breath of fresh air. Again, thanks so much for taking the time to share your knowledge and projects with us. Hugs from a fellow sewist in Australia :)
Looks so nice! Love to see your process with the binding. I have wondered about that. Can't help feeling sad that the navy floral is sold out! :'-( Your shirtdress is so pretty in it! :D
I love the stripes SO much! So smart how you used the stripes.
Vertical stripes are always my friends :)
Love your striped dress, lots of good info, thanks!
You’re very welcome 😁
I love this project Karina. The stripe knit is gorgeous. Since I am not one who has that kind of patience so I think I will just save this one for a time when I do get some patience.
I am with you about wearing a belt. I will never, ever wear an elastic waist dress without one. To me they make you look larger and not as neat.
There’s a time and place for a little extra work and I felt up to it motivated by how comfy it would be 😄
Belts are friends and I need a red one :)
Hi Karina, bought this pattern yesterday and I used your link to LN❤(of course)
Beautiful makes as always ❤❤👍👍👍
Thank you so much 😊. You’ll love it :)
I would like to see the making of the knit v neck.
what a great job!!!!
Thank you so much 😊
Beautiful dresses.
Thank you so much 😊
Beautiful dresses and your attention to detail is amazing. I love watching your videos.
Thank you. That makes me happy.
Stunning dresses
Thank you so much 😊
Love your attention to detail! That knit stripe neckline is PERFECT!!
Love them all. I've made 6 tops and 1 dress so far!!
This pattern is so addictive. The details took ages but well worth it :)
Love the dresses, they both look great 😍
Thank you so much 😊
The striped dress is classic.
Another wonderful vlog Karina. I bet you could perform miracles too if you tried😁
Only with fabric :)
Beautiful dresses! I have been waiting for this pattern to be a feature Friday pattern. Super excited to get this today with the update! I wanted to make this in a knit also, so I am glad you did it first!😘
I’m happy I took on the challenge cause this is pretty and comfy!
I think the chiffon would look good with a ruffle at the hem too.
Yes, it’s be cute :)
Very inspirational 🥰
Thank you so much 😊
You make it look so easy
I just take my time. You can do it too :)
I just picked it up. Thanks!
You’ll love it 😍
I just bought this pattern today! Your videos made me curious so I thought let me take a look at the Love Notions website this Friday. It didn’t disappoint, saw many really nice patterns. I also like the back with the gathers instead of the pleats, and the added length in your crepe dress, so definitely take this as inspiration when making the pattern. Thanks 🌸
So many nice patterns! That’s true and this is one of my faves :)
I’ve just bought this - looking forward to giving it a go - loved your pink one you were wearing ❤️
Thank you so much 😊. The fabric is too pretty.
Karina do you have a video on doing a V neckline with bias tape? Especially on knit fabric. I love v necklines but have never done one apart from a facing. 💗
This one shows it but it’s not exactly what I did for this knit top. I will film it for sure. This time, I was experimenting and couldn’t film while doing that.
ua-cam.com/video/2KDRjrsRmbA/v-deo.html
Please show how to do the facing for the V with no ties thanks🌷👏🏻🌷👏🏻
I’ve already filmed that and you can find the video in the playlist with all my rhapsody makes here ua-cam.com/play/PLwk5xT21q_c25lebrqCSqfnnqply9OseL.html
Beautiful Karina - I have this pattern and love seeing you're makes. All the best.
Thank you so much 😊
Love watching the stripped construction, so helpful. I’m thinking that 2-way stretch Liverpool would work nicely for this top too?
I don’t know what weight fabric your Liverpool is. This style needs lightweight and drape for the details to shine :)
I love the knit!! Please share the construction of the “v” thank you!
I will, now that I’m happy with the technique I came up with :)
Ok, you talked me into it! Brought through your link. Your dresses are gorgeous and I love the stripe one.xx
Thank you so much 😊. This is truly a flattering top. You’ll like it.
Karina, I have learned so much watching your videos. You make everything seem possible! I have bought some of your recommended pattern such as the Rhapsody blouse, I have tried to use your affiliate link but it takes me to their US only site. It did not allow me to put in my Canadian province. I had to go into their site directly, and it seemed to know my region. Do not know if this was user error but I was sorry not to be able to give you the commission because you made me want to sew up all the Rhapsody blouses!
Oh my goodness that pink print fabric is absolutely gorgeous. Could you tell me if it would be possible to raise the neckline on this dress?
Of course. Necklines are very easy to modify and this one even more because it has no facings. Just make sure you can still fit your head through the neckline.
Karina, thank you for your UA-cam channel! I just found your channel and I love it! I have learned so much already! I was just wondering, have you posted how to make the v neck for the knit version of this dress? I would love to make a knit dress out of this pattern. Thank you!
Hi Deb. I haven’t filmed the knit V binding. It’s an advanced technique and I’ve proved over and over that those videos are just not watched (very low views). This video shows how to do a tiny facing and it could work for a knit Rhapsody too. ua-cam.com/video/bLX7XC5RpkY/v-deo.html
Wow
💖
How much did you downsize for the knit version?
Nothing surprisingly. I go over that in my blog post 😊. I would have but didn’t this time.
OMG, I just adore this black and white stripe . It is sassy and classy! I think that most of my go to dresses are cut very similar to this but with a wrap bust. I never knew what they were called. I have a few dresses that I need to correct the waist line. Two are a traditional business sheath and two are wrap with a tie that are too big for me. I am considering removing the skirt and creating more of an A line dress. Do you ever alter existing dresses or always creating your own from start to finish? I am a curvy girl and I find that going up a size leaves room for my larger arms and round tush but makes me appear larger ,boxy and not flattering. I am trying to get up the courage to tear apart my clothes.=)
I would like that striped dress
I’ll look for a similar fabric for you 😍
Karina, did you have to lower the apex on this pattern? Very nice finished garments.
I showed that I added length below the armscye and that in essence lowered the bust point and lengthened the bodice in one go :)
👍💕
Maybe I missed it, but did you make the knit dress a size smaller to accommodate for the knit fabric, or did you use the same size as for woven fabric?
I used the same size for the knit. It’s a rayon spandex and because it’s a light weight knit, I want it loose and not close to the body.
I am sorry if I miss it. What size did you choose? Did you use full bust version?
I believe I din't mention it, however I always write the details in the description box. I always make a Large with a standard bust.
@@LiftingPinsandNeedles thank you
Hi Karina, I know this is quite an old video, but I wonder if you can help me? I'm sewing my first Rhapsody and I was surprised to see that the back yoke dips to a V, by only about 1/4", from the armhole to the centre back (although the pleat is marked as if it is straight). Ie. it is not completely perpendicular to the centre fold. I notice on your striped version that it is completely horizontal (which makes more sense to me). Did you alter it? Is there a reason to keep the V? Thanks, Tracy
There is a reason to keep the V on a woven because it’s got shaping from a shoulder dart that was removed in the drafting. For this knit, that doesn’t matter and it was more important for me to keep the straight line of the stripe.
@@LiftingPinsandNeedles Oh that's so helpful. Thank you so much for clarifying this xxx
