Taryl I commented on a few videos. I hope you understand how much you are appreciated. I have an old MTD that you have helped me maintain and fix. The parts are not expensive but the knowledge and time is. It wouldn't be worth putting the amount of money into my machine that you've saved me. I really am thankful. You are very talented as a mechanic and as a movie star and director. Hope you and your family are safe/ stay safe.
I don't care what they say bout you fellers. You're alright in my book. Changed out my Walbro's needle and seat thanx to this vid. Thank you!!
this guy is the only person that knows whats really up this is the 3rd time that his video is what i was looking for and well explained. Thanks Taryl good shit bro
Mr. Dactyl, You are a valuable asset. Thank you sir
I used your heat gun trick on my float and it worked like a charm! Thanks Taryl you the man! And the videos crack me up lol fun to watch and I learn a lot
THANKS!!! This just saved me $120 on a new Nikki carburetor. Was able to use your tips to get a new seat in my old Walbro, cost me $18 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Dam thats a fine fix. My old lady didn't like me using her hair dryer but hey I said you want u want good hair or the lawn cut.
Appreciate the Nikki fix. You guys rock
Taryl ... you are the best. Whenever I need help, you are the man.
Mower would not start. Rebuilt my carb, no change. Did the heat gun trick...… worked like a charm. Thanks guys!!!!
I love the man Terrell senior, but I really like when taryl Jr does a hands on presentation of a how to video. To everyone involved with this channel you guys are a great family. There's your dinner 😎
All y’all are a hoot and provide excellent information. Keep up the entertainment that makes the knowledge easy to digest
Easily the greatest video put on the internet.
Done this and it worked. Thanks for video. All the way from Ireland 🇮🇪
Watched 1 million videos. & again you have saved the day. Actually it’s 9:00 PM. Indiana
That intro was solid UA-cam gold!!
God bless you guys.. I had the problem with the Nikki carb. The float on the rebuild kit was also bad.
Hey Taryl, I am a mechanic and I have been watching your videos for a long time. For this leaking carburetor issue, I have come up with an idea. Frankly, I'm surprised you did not come up with it 1st. I'm going to try installing a normally closed 12 V solenoid in line.
Please try it and if it works, please do a video on it.
Thanks Taryl! I knew you'd know how to fix what was wrong with my mower!
OMG. I thought this was just a comedy show. I learned 2 things i never knew about, awesome! Funny shit, "Yah i got it dad all right!!! Take it easy boy, this film was expensive!!" Hahaha....
Valuable and great information as always from you guys! Thank you so much!
Awesome!! You guys are funnier than hell. Keep the vids coming.
I admire your pocket screwdriver collection! Pretty impressive bud!
I'm proud of ya boy's. Mmhhhmmmmm! You fixed them carbs up good, Real good!
Your video is the only one i could find that uses a heat gun to make a adjustment on a plastic carb float.
Common sense told me that Heat could be used, to make this adjustment. I just needed to see someone do this.
Great job on your illustration. The heat gun worked great.
You just have to be careful when using the heat gun. Have a glass of cool water to dip the plastic.after you make your adjustment, dip the float in water to cool the plastic tab,Take your time, and this will work. No rebuild kit required.
Thanks for the info and the laugh. Like the humor. Keep up the good work.
Nice job on the home made tools guys! Thanks for making the video so others can get this done as well.
Jordan Wetz Thanks Jordan Taryls all about Saving time & muny. And thars your dinner
Could I maybe find a roll pin that would make a sleeve? Wait, ! I need the heater gun. Where's lunch ? I aint mysef when i'm hungry, sorry.
JK. I do need the heat gun but I didn't know til I saw this. Good job Sr. You 2 Jr
Thank you for the tutorial , really save me a lot of agro.
You guys are AWSOME. Thank you and GOD BLESS.
I was just wondering if heating up afloat and bending the tab would work now I know it will after watching this video you guys are the best
This is a grat vidja yall thanks a heap I been lookin for a few smrt fellers like yall I shur do presheate it. It were reel good like on learnin me what I needed ta be noing ta fix on my lanmowr
After wasting almost 40$ on a big o ring and a needle valve I found out from this video I just needed to use my heat gun, I did that and wreaked my float, fastest and easiest way to fix your float but also the fastest and easiest way to destroy it. I'm ending up sending for a new carb which cost almost the same as the parts, live and learn. P.s. I just thought of something it's too late for me now but u people who haven't melted your float yet, after washing away any gas I would take one of those long neck lighters and hold it just near the piece u want to bend while pushing down with a mini screwdriver without destroying those thin tabs that hold the need valve.
Worked like a charm!!! Thanks! (Be nice if they had brass replacement floats)
Thanks again for another great video. I had this exact problem with my Intek engine. Has the Nikki carb with that squirelly carb gasket that won't fit once you take carb apart. Can I just replace the Nikki with the Walbro?
👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽🤘🏽😆👌🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽 absolutely awesome performance sir!!!! Thank you !!!!
thanks for all vids..help alot.. i have a carb that i have to replace. The original came off a 15 hp riding mower..the other did to but dont know what kind of riding mower. anyway the original has one main side jet(the one thats in the float bowl) while the other has 2..will this make a difference..thanks
The kid tellin' dad off, funny stuff. The kid is a good addition. Get a chuckle and learn somethin'...
Good stuff guys, keep it up.
Okay, your channel is the only one I've found that showed an actual solution to this problem with the Nikki carb. Everyone else said change the gaskets to stop the fuel leak problem. I'd love to see an episode where you drink a potion and become Tarrell Dactel the cool and suave version of Taryl. (Kind of like they did with Steve Urkel...) I really appreciate your videos even though they are super campy, corny, and sometimes difficult to watch. 😁👍
Great video, nice work making learning fun.
All your videos 🎥 are funny as hell n very informative
THANKS TARYL ANOTHER GOOD INFORMATION YOU GIVE US,...............THERE'S YOUR DINNER.....
Taryl i like your videos , i have question man i have a 18hp Briggs Stratton
is crack up but sometimes not and small a fuel my think is may be the sparplugs coil or why geting over flow what can be?
thanks taryl for the face book reply this really helped me
You're welcome!
Hello Taryl, I have a briggs 140cc ohv engine on a craftsman pressure washer and i have a leaking carburetor because when I check the oil it smelled like gas. I drained the oil and replaced with new oil, I adjusted the valves and ignition timing, and I re-gaped the spark plug to factory settings. I've tried starting it but with no avail. It will start and run briefly only when I allow some fuel to fill the bowl and then turn it off but the carburetor spits out fuel when it runs for like 10 seconds. Also, it seems to start when its not in the compression stroke. I removed the pump to try and make it easier for it to start without a load. Any advice you have would be great.
I have a mikuki carb on my 14hp Briggs and Stratton vanguard do you happen to know which of these methods I need to use to repair it???
That heat gun trick just worked like a champ!!!
I used the heat gun and got hot fingers but it worked like a charm. Thanks.
Best video ever!!
"I got it dad, I got it 🤨! Lol Junior you did good 😂
👍
Heating up the tab on the Nikki carb works but you have to be careful with the heat. The slot that the needle hangs on is super thin. My first try the slot started deforming and would no longer hold the needle. Back to ebay and another float. Heat a little and bend the tab a little. Took 4 or 5 tries but it worked. Heat and push and hold till the plastic cools.
Thanks, guys.
First of all, thanks for all the post's and sharing your knowledge, helps out tremendously. I have a Kohler 3000 series 6.5 horse on a tiller that is getting gas in the oil. Have you had this issue with any of the Kohler's motors you've had in your shop. it acted as if it had locked up but "magically" came out of it which I believe it was probably hydrolocked. What's your thougthts, Taryl?
does it cause any issues if you replace a walbro with a nikki carb?
I haven't had issues yet but the nikki was cheaper of ebay when my throttle plate let go on the original walbro carb on my 03 dyt4000.
the intake pipe and manifold bolted right up no prob.
Hey taryl i bought a new nikki six carb of ebay and installed on mower and it leaks fuel i checked the float level and and needle looks ok what should i check next ?
Taryl, I have a Nikki on a 5yr old 31p677 and it runs rough at low idle. It has the mixture screw that cant be adjusted. I believe it is the carb. What do you think?
Man yall missed your calling!! Lmao!! And learned a new trick.
Thanks Taryl for your advice I did what you said it works buddy
Taryl - I've tried everything to cure my surging on my 22 hp v twin Nikki Carb. After being frustrated, I ordered a new carb. Now I am noticing that the new carb choke plate doesn't have a spring return. My mower has one throttle cable and when you pull it all the way up, it engages the choke. Once it starts, you move the throttle down a bit and it releases the choke. The new carb has apparently done away from spring return. I know it would work with separate choke cable, but will it work just one? Did they do away with the spring return on the choke on the newer replacements? Thanks much! GREAT VIDEO'S!!
In my experience that I just had today, do not take installing a new seat and needle for granted. On initial install, my mower leaked. Found your video and bent it a little, and it still leaked even after doing a table test blowing into the carb which tested good. Third time I pulled out the seat and examined it, shot carb cleaner down the tube again lubed the tube with WD40 and reinstalled the seat and used the original needle. Third time was a charm, no leaking.
Hi taryl I'm having issues with a Powermate tiller and when I prime it "hisses" and when it starts it will only run for max 5 to maybe 10 minutes then it runs out of power and dies can you help me please?
Hi I have a 525L husqvarna weed whacker.. i have a lil gas getting on my air filter any ideas of what it could be?
on the niiki i used a hair blow dryer but couldn't get that centre tab to bend as it's quite thick. I actually twisted the whole cross piece.
My carburetor is different from those it’s off a Briggs and Stratton twin.. 20 yr old craftsman..I’m assuming is a walburo.. with a fuel pump..It’s only a month old and there’s gas in my crank case.. what causes it? And do I just melt the tab o float.. and to avoid change the oil a 3rd time should I take it off from the pipes going into the engine and see if it leaks?
thanks Dr. T, I just used my super hot coffee to heat up the tab on on the float because I couldn't afford a heat gun due to my Dentist bill.
Reminds me of my dad and I lol good job fellows
Thank you Taryl
I fixed my leaky nikki carb by slightly loosening the screws on my float bowl. - After replacing the needle, float, and gaskets, it still leaked. Then i realized i couldnt hear the float moving when i flipped the carb upside down. Apparently my nikki carb bowl is shaped in a way that if i tighten down too much it makes contact with the float and doesnt allow it to move. Loosened it a small bit and the float moves freely and doesnt leak anymore.
I need a seat for a Tohatsu 50hp outboard motor. They don't sell them. I wonder if I could use one from a different carb?
Thank you sir. You are a genius
Thanks for video. Just ordered seat and needle for my Walbro cause the Chinese Nikki knock offs just don't adjust properly and can fail at anytime. Keep fixing the old carbs fellars
hey Taryl why is gas spewing out of the vent hole in the gas cap? its a lawn boy two stroke. I tried a different gas cap with the same results. Never did this before just started out of the blue.
Funny and informative. Really liked the making your own tool to remove the seat.
Taryl, I have rebuilt carbs for a while now but I am missing something. Sometimes I can't stop the engine from hunting. Running high and low I have replaced replaced new carbs and they run smooth. So what am I missing on those rebuilt carbs?
David Wilson If I might make a suggestion, it sounds to me like the idle jet is clogged-it happens sometimes when a carb is cleaned; a tiny piece of dirt is sucked into the idle jet after reassembly and startup, which causes the surging; I'd suggest being meticulous about even the smallest piece of dirt during cleaning and assembly.
Thanks
Great video
Nice Video, very informative!
Did you guys have a link for the part on Amazon/eBay/ tractor supply Co?
how do i adjust my snapper pro 36 " walk behind belt drive correctly? i have watched most all videos of yours great job i have learned a lot thanks thomas
+ros co Not pullin hard enough?
what a wonderful Hollywood production... :)
I got a john deer l110 and I have oil leaking out of the ohv cover and I had it replaced but they had to use tube self made gasket and there was two striped bots they put new ones in but it's still leaking and the mower shut off how can I fix this (btw) it a koler command 17.5 hp
I have a V-twin B&S 16hp Vanguard Model 303777 Type 1145-E1 on a Snapper, BOTH the throttle & choke cables were no good, installed new ones BUT need to adjust both correctly. The cable housings/sheath on both was broken & stretched so I didn't have any faith in where they were tightened down to engine. NEED setting for both, B&S engine manual & snapper manual doesn't have settings.
The Nikki carb's gasket and fuel inlet oring can also leak. Both seal the plastic inner part against the upper carb body.
I was working on one of these leakers one day. I pulled the spark plug knowing the chamber was full of gas. I just didnt realize how much gas was in there.
With the spark plug wire hanging down and spark plug removed. I did the wrong thing. I turned the key to push the gas out. The engine turned over and shot gas everywhere,,way more than I thought would happen. At the same time the hanging plug wire found a ground and sparked!!!! And it blew up in my face,,throwing me across the room and started the whole area on fire!!!
I had a fire extinguisher handy and put it out immediately. But it scared the crap out of me!!! The amount of gas that came out was huge. Dont ever do this!!!
Same thing happened to me yesterday! Although I wasn't in front of it. Gas sprayed out of the open spark plug hole like a garden hose. Caught a spark and BOOM! Fire ball! Not sure how it got a spark either because I had disconnected the spark plug. Luckily I was outside in the yard. Ran for the garden hose. It is amazing how much fuel collects in that combustion chamber. But how else do you clear it out, right? They should really have a service bulletin or something out on that. Very dangerous to have fuel just constantly flowing into the combustion chamber and crank case. Very poor design.
Is it a rubber tipped needle? I hear those wear out. That could also be one of causes of this float not sealing.
hey taryl would you put the shut off valve between the gas tank and fuel filter or between the fuel filter and carburetor . PLEASE HELP TARYL i need my dinner TARL.
thank you...
used the heat gun and successfully stopped the carburetor leak. Thanks for that trick. Wasted time and money getting a new needle when I just needed to seat it in better. So from here is it necessary to change the oil from the gas backing in? Whats the word Taryl?
That plate tool on the bench behind you in this video, is that a tool for straightening bent cranks, and did you buy it , or build it. I sure wish i could get some pictures of it.
Your Amazing Taradactyl 👍
nice video guys
Taryl, my Walbro 15003-7099 I am having a hard part acquiring seat part number 84-174. Its like they want me to buy a new carb. got a dimension for the angle of the needle seat? I feel like making my own if I can't find one. I ordered from Motown and they cancelled my order VE petersen no luck. Almost no one online has these.
MAD NEN love it
taryl can u make a video on how to make that tool please thanks and I love your video's u always help me out
just a 1/4-20 self tappin screw and a 1/4-20 nut and a piece of tubing you can get from the auto parts store for a sleeve to fit around the seat. Thanks fer watchin Taryl
*Its a beast!>>>**ur2.pl/999** it chowed down on heavy wet snow on the first pass. At least 3 inches in some parts. Its a little tough to turn around but it really does throw the snow 30 feet. heavy duty tires. the welds were tight and clean. the chassis solid metal as is the chute. its solid. the plug in and push electric start, awesome.*
My Briggs and Stratton engine in my Mowa came wit a Holley Double pumper.🤪
how about a video on making a racing mower simple pulley change and such,im working on ine right now
Damn your the man taryl
Taryl. I am at my wits end with this stupid 19.5 horse powered briggs & stratton. engine I just rebuilt. I originally, after the rebuild, tried starting it but it didn't start and would only back fire through the carburetor. Thought I had screwed up the cam timing took the sump off and double checked but the timing was right, then checked the fly wheel and that was set right.. Still kept back firing, so I double checked the values and that was right, so I figured it was a carburetor issue, so I bought a new needle and fuel filter.. Replaced that tried starting it up and still back fired through the carburetor.. I have no clue how to fix this stupid engine to start... do you have any ideas? I'm ready to shoot it...
got a Nikki and that problem and a heat gun.
gonna get coffee'd up in the morning and give that float a lookin' at
thanks
you are freaking awesome
Literally
Hello Taryl, could you please tell me what carb is better??? Nikki or Walbro. How would you fix a nikki what has a bad seat ??? Thanks fella for your dinner too. VF
Heat gun and a gas soaked float! Whoooooo!! Whoooooooooo!!! There's your Dinner! Haha!
I replace my needle and seat and I still have gas in my crankcase any more possibilites
Thanks for the tip Taryl. Will a hair dryer on hi work as I don't want to buy a heat gun costs more than a new float??
Are you heating up that whole area so when you press the tab down it twists the entire part between the hollow float sides downwards??
Thanks again
Taryl made a mistake, you should lift the tab up,it's already too far down that's why the float is Raising all the way up to the top of the carburetor allowing the fuel level to go higher than it's supposed to and pouring into the engine crankcase, "just sayin" ♿ 🇺🇸
