@@jerrymulchi3429 I'm a retired health care guy but my roots are in a "fix it all" gas station in a small town. We even refinished furniture in the wash rack when it was empty. The one mower my dad could never fix was a Wheel Horse w/ an Onan engine but we fixed a lot of Yazoos.
It's now 2 1/2 years later, April 25, 2020 and I got a generator to quit surging and it was surging badly.... Taryl IS the gift that keeps on giving. Like Taryl showed, I cleaned the low speed jet on an old 10 hp Tecumseh and now it's running like it should. Thank you so much.
I have to say that this works. I’m a success story. I own a power washer with a Honda engine like the one on the video. It has been surging for a long time. I used the micro drill bits that Taryl recommended. I went up two sizes (one size didn’t seem like enough) and the engine no longer surges. However, it now runs on full throttle regardless of the position of the throttle lever. Therefore, I believe that I over did it. Use the next size up and no more and then run the engine for awhile. Then, if you need to use a larger diameter drill bit you can do so but you can never go back.
I cleaned the carb of a friend's rider because of a no-start issue. It then had the surging problem after startup. I was about to give it back to him with a, sorry that's all I can do. I don't like to lose a fight so I searched surging mower and found your video. I started with the smallest bit in the set first and it was blocked, after slowly drilling it out and putting it back into place, It runs great now. Thank you, thank you, thank you!
I really appreciate you showing how to fix my surging Cub Cadet RT-65 Kohler engine. I bought it used and thought I was going to have to take it to a shop to be fixed. I did exactly as you said and it runs great now. Thank you!
this helped on my almost brand new Champion 4500/3650 RV generator yesterday , other Champion carb cleaning videos totally missed the low idle jet, ......... after cleaning it and putting fresh gas in it , it ran perfect again and since Champion had already sold me a brand new carb for it making it sound like i was stuck with the surging , thanks to you its still sitting in the box .... Thanks
THAT, Taryl was a BIG help. Champion engine had that, pulled cab back off engine, an there she was, hidden under the idle adjustificator. pulled out that plastic plug an found a black chunk of who knows. put car back and it runs like a charm. UR a damn good man Taryl!
thanks, teryl dactyl. i have been fighting "choke only" on a scott mower running the l-head 16hp briggs since spring. the damn machine was garage-kept, all these years, with one-half summer of use on it since it was bought new. i rebuilt the carb, boiled it, nothing worked. finally removed the low-speed adjust screw, got a very fine guitar string, and started poking...sure as hell some kind of tiny insect had glued mud and crud together inside the passage to the venturi. tough as a chunk of concrete, but it finally gave-way and the wire went through....gee, now the low speed screw adjustment actually works and the machine runs p-e-r-f-e-c-t-l-y. thank you, "wise one".
Very informative. Thanks Taryl. I own a John Deere LA105 Riding Lawn Mower purchased in 2008. It has a 19.5 HP engine Model #31P677-0132-B1 with Nikki carburetor, In 2012 the engine began to run rough and surge so I rebuilt the carburetor but the engine still ran rough and surged. The number stamped on the original carburetor was 792345. I installed a new carburetor but the surging continued (does not stall or backfire), After trying to adjust the carb settings I finally gave up and learned to live with it. I finally relegated this mower to a utility tractor for towing a yard trailer around my property and bought a new mower. Recently after reading many posts and watching countless videos related to the surging Briggs and Stratton engines, I decided to give the old John Deere another try after it has sat unused for a year. Here are the things I have done thus far. Removed the gas tank, empty old fuel and cleaned the tank thoroughly. Replaced the fuel filter and fuel hoses/clamps. Replaced the spark plug Replaced the air filter I started the engine and it continues to surge at all speeds does not stall or backfire. In the choke position it runs for a brief time then chokes down (stalls). With the engine running I checked for air leaks around the carb and manifold connections by spraying carb cleaner and listening for changes in engine performance. No leaks noted. Replaced carburetor with new Nikki aftermarket Stens #520-002 substitute for Nikki #594605 I started the engine and it continues to surge at all speeds does not stall or backfire. At this point I returned to watching online videos related to my problem which seems to be very common. I checked the governor setting by placing throttle wide open and checking for play at the governor arm and found none. I still have the fuel pump to consider and I am considering replacing the carb linkage and governor spring in the event the linkage/springs are possibly bent or stretched, but other than that I believe I have checked off possible external problems. Am I missing something here? I would greatly appreciate your expertise in solving this problem. David
My Harbor Freight 4000 watt generator was a classic case. You had to play with the choke to stop the surging. I watched this video (my carb is just like the first one in the video) and went out and fixed the damn thing. I'm a machinist so I have drills down to No.80. I opened the jet one size from a 77 to a 76 problem solved. Thanks Taryl.
Hi Taryl, My carburetor was surging, I did your fix to make the jet a little larger, I used oxy tip cleaners. Ran Perfect!!!. for 20 minutes then dead stalled, I started it again and it started surging again. I pulled out the jet loosened the bottom of the carby and drained float chamber put air pressure in fuel line and Jet hole ...assembled ...ran perfect for 20 minutes. After repeating this several times. I completely stripped and cleaned the carby , and disassembled the fuel pump and cleaned the hell out of it. Ran for 20 minutes then dead stall and surging after restart. Choke helps a bit but never gets to full RPM. I'm Guessing that the last reason might be condensation in the fuel tank? I will be inspecting and emptying the fuel tank today. Love your show You are a genius. And soul brother. I am running a 17.5hp Cheong Yeng 620cc Briggs copy.
Wow! Been trying to figure out my surging issue for a while and I’ve looked at a lot of really complicated “solutions” that, as a Harry homeowner, did not look like a solution to what I thought was or should be something easy. My gen is fired up once a month at least and run with load occasionally on ethanol free fuel. When it started acting up last summer I thought no way this thing should be having an issue. You sir gave me the easiest to try solution and it worked like a charm. However, I just used some really tiny stranded wire and kept adding more until no more would go. Backed off one wire and spun around a bit with some cleaner. Put it back in and we are in perfect working order! Literally took me 10 minutes and most of that was trying to find the wire. THANK YOU SOOOO MUCH!!
Hello Mr. Paul Hood, yup maintenance runs are great, it's a bitch to need that gen-set and NOT not ready when u need it. I just did that the other day, started right up, then of course I plugged in a load, she is NOT happy if not plugged into! I mean the gener8or. like old car generators ( not alternators ) they can lose that bit of residual magnetic field and she will not put out. Lots of people buy a gen b4 a big storm is coming only to find they will not have any luck an and up getting a gen-set not as big as needed. Read the directions once an after the gen did its job, the turn the key, engine shuts down an all is jolly in bloody old England! not really though, carb's fulla gas and in a month if that long, carb will b so gunked up the engine will NOT run. I will shut gas off and let engine eat up whats left in the carb or shut off the switch, grab a beer or two and when things cooled off drain the carb.
My snowblower had been hunting last winter and I saw your fix then but it's no fun to tear apart the machine when you might need it. Remembered to prep the snowblower for another season and just got done cleaning out the Chonda jet (small copper wire pulled from a multi-strand scrap wire and a splash of carb cleaner). The jet was plugged with fuel slime. Cleaned that, reassembled, all good now. Thanks!
Wasn't actually sure if my Honda carburator actually had an opening on that end. Took a bread twisty, cleaned plastic off, took a few tries but eventually it opened up. Wow, smooth idle again, amazing thankyou
At minute 6, i have a carb very similar to your old one. It is on a 1981 generator in an RV. It has started to surge again. I had a generator repaor man repair it a year or so, ago. He cleaned the carb and readjusted it, and it worked fine. But now it is doing it again.
This fixed my mountfield rs100 which was surging. I’d cleaned the carb but didn’t know about the little jet in the plastic plug. Pulled it, blasted it with compressed air and job done. Thank you.
Thanks for the tip Taryl!!! Just fixed a riding mower for a friend, that was surging or warffling...and runs like a singer now. Had to disassemble the carb to get to the jet though. Blew everything out with compressed air and reassembled...and bam...it runs great. thanks again.
I bought my first pressure washer project, a generac pressure washer that had been sitting up and wouldn't start...cleaned the float bowl and the main jet and emulsion tube...started first pull, then started hunting (or wankering as he called it) thanks for the tip on the idle jet...completely clogged...I cleared it with a piece of wire brush wire....fixed it right up...thanks man, enjoy your videos
I almost didn't watch your video because you looked so silly lol. I'm so glad I did! I built a drift trike and I used a predator engine and I watched a bunch of youtube videos and they all show how to clean a carb., but none showed the low idle jet cleaning. I cleaned my carb 3 times and it kept surging. Watched your video and tried what you said and BAM! it fixed it and now I'm drifting again! Thank you so much. God bless you
I started working with small engines back in 73 back then everything had points and condenser most of the carburetors had adjustment nowadays that EPA stuff that you know adjustments unless you're as good as Terry thanks for the heads up keep up the good work
As an Englishman, I have to say... this guy has BEAUTIFUL teeth, I think he must be a member of the Royal Family! Mr Peter Sellers... its great to have you back sir. Keep up the great work and thank you for the video, ( I am about to go Deep-Carb and remove my Welch plug for the first time, wish me luck... we dive at midday).
I say old chap, jolly useful video. This helped me get my old lawnmower running properly after struggling with hunting and surging all last season. Many thanks from across the pond :)
Taryl I cut my grass with my 1996 murray 4-14-2018 thanks to your direction I rebuilt the Briggs & Stratton opposed Twin carburetor and transaxle thanks so much Slick Rick
Unreal! My new aftermarket carburator was surging & backfiring bad! I did exactly what the man said & bam, better fuel flow made my engine run perfect! What a great tutorial! Thanks so much! ... Bird
THANKS TARYL, that advice fixed my surging Tecumseh 10HP !! The only warning that you might add to your advice is that the low speed brass jet has a step in it. Mine went from 1mm to 0.5mm. So it was the inside passage that I enlarged from 0.5mm to 0.6mm. That's all it took to cure the surging. Glad I didn't open it up more than that. , Bob
Good video. My Briggs and Stratton 16HP engine with Nikki carb was surging under load after being stored over winter with fuel in the carb. A full carb strip found no visible debris, no sticky gum deposits or anything similar. But, to be sure, all jets, carb fuel holes and airways blown thro with WD40 followed by a good spray thro with carb cleaner. All reassembled and then engine run smoothly.
We updated and re-uploaded 2 older videos regarding Carburetors for information and production purposes. We pulled the old listings. Yes, many of you have seen this one already but not fixed up as it is. Now There's Your Dinner!!
@Taryl Fixes All is that fixed screw with the spring able to come all the way out on that old tecumseh carb im unable to take that screw out on my engine, im wondering if something is stopping it from coming out or its only allowed to adjust
Taryl Fixes All you should call a Briggs and Stratton a Griggs and Cratton. Thank You for what you do. This Channel is very helpful. Keep up the Great Work.
Taryl can I convert my 5hp Brigg diaphragm carb to one with a bowl. Its on a gocart and is don't know if it would be a good idea to do this to get more power or not. And is it OK to completely remove the governor it a early 90's model?
Hi Taryl thanks so much for your brill funny video I am from across the big Pond you know England Ceshire county. My mower was surging wonky up n down and cuttingout. followed your instruction Stripped it down and cleaned out enlarged Jets now its purrrfect.
You my friend are the master ! I have been in the small engine business for much to long ! And have just figured out this surging crap this morning ! Then found your video ! You have just confirmed that we are going in the right direction ! Thank you Sir ! Excellent video !
Thank you for your help. I have a 1988 John Deere 318 garden tractor that was surging for years. I couldn't find any useful information out there on what the problem may be . I was actually going to replace the Onan p218 with a Vanguard engine . Today I removed the top of the carburetor and pulled the jet. I did not have drill bits small enough so I used a piece of copper wire strand and sure enough there was a blockage in there. Put it all back together and the tractor ran quite smooth without the choke on. Even when I turned the throttle all the way down it stayed smooth and even. I don't know how many hours are on the engine being that the hour meter broke years ago with over a thousand hours on it but it sounds better than it has in years.
😏 AWESOME SERVICE TECH TIP 👍 From "OLD SCHOOL" before those new drill sets, 50 year ago, we used the torch tip cleaners!!!! THANKS FOR THE VIDEO, BE SAFE, - WATCH OUT FOR THE KRAZIES!!! 😍😍😍😍😍
Thanks again Taryl! Got a set of 0-80 drill bits, a "57" did it for me on my 10HP Briggs Gen - got a $18 carburetor to work like a new OEM one... I rebuilt my LMT 172 but it's nice to have a spare :)
I replaced a carburetor on my Honda mower just today....I think that's my first major small engine repair I've ever done before. Thanks for the inspiration Taryl. Doing it myself made me feel awesome!! And saved me probably buying a new mower this season, so hundreds of bucks. Thanks for all your work!
You are the man. Thank you so much. I pulled the low speed jet out of my clone engine and cleaned out the jet with one bristle from a welding brush. Reinstalled everything and the motor runs perfect. Thank you so much.
Great video thanks. Do you have a video explaining what the adjustment screw on both sides of the are for as well as how to adjust the old Tecumseh style carb? Thanks again
Thanks Taryl. Just fixed my surging Briggs Quantum engine. Had a mixture screw on the carb so just opened it up a bit. Smooth running now. Much appreciated, Wayne from England
Thanks. Bought a new tecumseh ohv110 for generator. Surging. Bought a set of tiny drill bits and drilled out low speed jet and main jet. Got better. Drilled main jet out one more size up. Runs smooth as silk. Im buying one of your hoodies for your help. Thanks again.
Thank you brother! I'll be using grandmas complete micro drill bit set. She was a Rosie Riveter for WW 2 aircraft and "acquisitioned" some left over drill bits that fell on the floor. lol Thanks again!
Had that happen on a Honda motor for a Hydraulic Pump for Extraction Tools. Cleaned out the Carb and still doing it. So I thought well maybe the fuel line is plugged so I changed out the lines to the clear kind and turned out there was a small defect where the fuel line connected to the tank and it was pulling air in the line. Sealed up the defect and it ran smooth again. The for the awesome videos Taryl. ....
had two riders with Briggs carbs that were surging. One would start surging after about 15 minutes run time. I cleaned carbs on both.... problem solved. Thanks ole chap.
Great to have you back Taryl. Your absence was much more difficult to bear than Colberts'. Hope you're well rested and I look fwd to many more entertaining vids.
heya Taryl, i have both my murray ride-on's in the shed today, i had then both crap out yesterday, had a tea break after doing most of our 5 acres and when we started up again they were both surging, one was use-able to finish the mowing and then sweep, but the other was up and down on power all over the place. luckily they both have walbro carbs, and i've cleaned them out today, i will test them tomorrow after i pressure wash the crud off the engines.
I'm not a pro but I haven't found the need to drill any out so far. I just spray them with carburetor cleaner and use a strand or two of stranded wire followed by compressed air to make sure the orifice is clean. It has worked every time.
Enjoyed your video. Just wanted to put it out there that if you're having fuel starvation issues like I was, and you figure it's the coil because it only happens after it warms up, then it runs great after you replace the coil, but then the issue comes back oddly, then you dig into the carb and it all seems fine and clean, and adjusting the jet doesn't seem to help... check your fuel cap vent for being plugged. But the best way to do all this would be to avoid all that other stuff and unscrew the cap first. If it runs fine, don't worry about the coil or the carb. Lessons - they come hard sometimes.
This is the second video that stated the same thing about the pilot jet. My 420cc clone is doing this, and like you mentioned, I needed to hold the choke slightly shut (not too much). I'm going to try this, and I'm sure it'll take care of the surge. I appreciate the humor, too!
Great job on hunting carburetor. took you tip on the fuel loosen that jet and was able to get a smooth running engine. Waiting to receive jetting drills. Thanks man. It fixed a Tecumseh 11 hp snow blower.
Always good info from. You Mr dactyl another good tool for cleaning small passages is a torch tip cleaner. Thank you for all of your hard work and great info. Your saving our ass and keeping us running.
Tyrell, I have a 26 horsepower Kohler engine was on the Craftsman older model engine. I tried to check the valves top dead center there is no free space in the rocker arms. Wanted to adjust. There is a nut but they do not have lock nut in the center, so whenever I adjust they are still too much Gap and rocker arm will come off. With that all being said is there a engine Kohler that does not have the 20 hex nut in the center for none of my viola justement do and if so how should I adjust
My Snapper with a Brigg & Strat. enging started surging so I figured it would be easies to just changed the carburetor. Got one from amazon, changed that, changed fuel line, spark plug & air filter and it still surges. What did I miss?
I have a 5 year old John Deere with a 19.5 Briggs. And I actually do have a low speed jet, like the Tecumseh that Tarryl showed but it is brass instead of plastic. I'm trying this as soon as I get home because I've been fighting with the governor. Its a brand new carb too so I know its clean
How about the briggs carb that has the holes in the brass nut that holds bowl on can you drill them ??..drill center hole or the 2 holes in the sides of the nut brass nut or screw
so my 4 cycle snowblower had terrible surge but ran great full choke. jets were a little dirty but real fix was governor sensitivity controlled by which hole you put spring on!!mine was on farthest hole from solid rod. i put it on closest hole by by surge!!i the strength of the spring is also s factor.
Hey Taryl, how do you adjust the carb on MTD 4P90HU Engine 4P90HU Carburetor? I keep fouling plugs, black, wet, oily looking. (New air filter...still fouling plugs). I can't find "how to adjust" it anywhere on the inet. Also, is this engine any good, or a piece of crap? Thinking about selling the damn mower...Craftsman T1200 Lawn Tractor, 420cc, 42" deck. Bought new 2016, and have hated it ever since, terrible suspension / ride, kills your leg holding down the gas pedal, blah, blah. Thanks for any advice.
Any idea why a Briggs 2cyl 18.5 hp inteck when it is hot it won't restart unless you ground out the spark plug wire or pull the spark plug and put the wire on it while cranking then it starts sparking again.?
I have a Toro 521 that leaks some oil out of where the governor shaft goes through the side of the engine? Any ideas on what's causing it, and how to fix it?
Always good. I have a question though, I have a Briggs 14HP that is giving me fits with surging. I have cleaned two different carbs and put them on it and then even bought an aftermarket new one....no matter what I do it surges. And I have checked all the linkage and all seems to be fine. Could a governor problem cause surging? Thanks!
I just found a melted piece of rubber plugging gas line . It was in the tank and more in gas line befor the filter so i purchased the yellow colored fuel like that wont melt . I replaced the hole gas line. I wont ever use ethenol fuel again as the is what melted the fuel line.
@Taryl Fixes All Keep this trick I devised years ago for the future when you do carbutator cleaning.. Try this... Heat the plastic tube from the carb cleaner spray with a lighter (about 1/4-1/2 inch from the end. Then pull on each end of the tube to stretch it. This makes the outer/inner tube diameter smaller and more of a pin point. When the melted plastic solidifies, use small wire nippers or nail clippers to snip the tube at the smallest diameter that still provides flow when spraying. The cleaner comes out like a pin point pressure washer and the shrunken plastic tube end fits snugly inside whatever port your spaying thru. You can also do the same to create 90 degree angles in the plastic tube to spray sideways inside long venturi tubes. (Like idle circuits) I used to make/keep custom tubes around for these situations. Hope this makes sense.
I have a Tecumseh engine. Flat head type I suppose you called it. I put a brand new carb on it and it still surges a little. How do I adjust that flat head screw you talked about.
I have a 2013, 48", 24 HP Kohler, Husqvarna with 292 hours on it. It started surging badly at anything but full throttle, but I found a very quick fix; CRC Throttle Body and Air Intake Cleaner. With the engine running at full throttle, I removed the air cleaner and sprayed the fluid into the intake. The engine hesitated, but recovered as I stopped spraying. Did it a second time. At a reduced throttle setting, the surging was gone! I've tried fuel system cleaner in the gas tank before and that has not stopped the surging. CRC is worth a try if your engine is surging!
Somewhat unrelated, but still in the same realm......I have a little 4-cycle troy-bilt edger (TB516 EC)that will idle nice for days, but give it gas and it falls flat on its face. Those carbs don't have high speed adjustments. Is there anything you can drill out or adjust on those ryobi/Troy-Bilt barrel type carburetors to get more gas through? I replaced the carb with a new one, but it still doesn't get enough gas. I thought about maybe prying up the little rocket that sits atop the needle to see if that might cause the button on the diaphragm to press down more, letting more fuel through?
I have a Honda gx200 on a Simpson power washer that is surging. So far, I haven't been able to unstop the pilot jet. I may get me a micro drill set and try, or just order a new pilot jet part. Thank you
This is a great show really enjoy it thank u I have a question I recently bought a craftsman T110 riding mower my only concern is when u Engadget the blades it makes a racket it’s under Warrenty well it was there a couple days they claim belt had some wear an something about a pulley got it back they told me that’s the way it is do u have any recommendations thank u in advance
Does surging carb damage the engine? My Vector "Earthquake" tiller does this but does the job. The surging actually seems to annoy my crappy neighbor, which I don't mind.
This was so useful. Never knew there was a slow running jet on my Loncin (Honda clone). I have an engine manual but it had nothing about this. Mine was clogged and made it a pig to start when hot, needing choke even when warm, and would run a bit then just die. Now ticks over nice and steady.
Enjoyed your video. Could you help me with a Briggs and Stratton 24hp V-Twin. I disassembled the carb and the 2 jets fell out of the fuel transfer tube. Which side does the larger jet go? Do you know the part numbers of the jets? It's a model 407777 Style 0218 E1. Code 001013YH.
Did we see this repair some time in the past? I think so because the solution to the surging problem was such sheer brilliance on the part of the repair technician that i'm very sure I remember this.
Was looking for help and bam, your show came up.. tried cleaning carb like showed, but still surged while running... so just ordered new carb.. put it on, hooked everything up..started it, ran for split second normal..then went back to surging. Any ideas ...????
HELP. MINE IS A BRIGS. NOT PLASTIC. DOES IT GO ALL THE WAY THROUGH I did the drill bit deal but it bottom’s out. I can spray ( brake cleaner ) in one end & out the other. I was wondering if it went all the way to the bowl.
This worked for me, a new engine surging under load, I was going to increase the jet hole size, but then I found the hole was too small and did not match the stamped size on the jet. Drilled it out to the correct size in mm and fixed it, runs great now.

Thanks Taryl .
I cleaned the carb on a wood splitter out in the field in about 20 mins.
( Dads mind blown.)
As goofy as your videos are, you’re a good tutor! Fixed my surging generator by drilling out the jet! Thanks!
Hi Taryl,
My carburetor was surging, I did your fix to make the jet a little larger, I used oxy tip cleaners.
You frickin crack me up, its what we need these days, 2023.
Hes a gat-dainged legend, I tells you hwut.
Aint nobody fixem-up a Carpetrator like ole Taryl.
Stay gold.
Hello Mr. Paul Hood, yup maintenance runs are great, it's a bitch to need that
gen-set and NOT not ready when u need it.
I just did that the other day, started right up, then of course I plugged in a load,
she is NOT happy if not plugged into! I mean the gener8or. like old car generators
( not alternators ) they can lose that bit of residual magnetic field and she will not
put out.
Lots of people buy a gen b4 a big storm is coming only to find they will not have
any luck an and up getting a gen-set not as big as needed. Read the directions once
an after the gen did its job, the turn the key, engine shuts down an all is jolly in bloody old England! not really though, carb's fulla gas and in a month if that long, carb will b
so gunked up the engine will NOT run. I will shut gas off and let engine eat up whats
left in the carb or shut off the switch, grab a beer or two and when things cooled off
drain the carb.
I love the rows of pens in your pockets. My first visit here, certainly not my last.
+1 from another Brit, thanks for the video I'll be giving this a try.
LOL. Comment of the year.
I say old chap, jolly useful video. This helped me get my old lawnmower running properly after struggling with hunting and surging all last season. Many thanks from across the pond :)
Thank you . Plain english no fancy teck talk. Easy to understand
Taryl I cut my grass with my 1996 murray 4-14-2018 thanks to your direction I rebuilt the Briggs & Stratton opposed Twin carburetor and transaxle thanks so much Slick Rick
This is the best skit yet. “The big pond...in Grissom County?”
I like how Taryl did both parts. He is really funny!
They are quick to complain yet they dont even know what theyre complaining about.
Taryl Fixes All
OK you got me I gave her thumbs up anyways!!
Where do you buy these small drills and what size worked for you.
You my friend are the master !
I have been in the small engine business for much to long !
And have just figured out this surging crap this morning !
Then found your video !
You have just confirmed that we are going in the right direction !
Thank you Sir !
Excellent video !
I've gone through three carbs on this 21 hp platinum series B&S and still the surging remains...still trying to figure out which way to go
I learned quite a few neat little tricks watching Taryl.
I personally use a torch tip cleaning tool...works really well... especially for really small jets
I use guitar string. Wayyyy better
a wire bristle from a steel brush works also
...And that's why Taryl is also known as "The Surgin' General"
Thanks again
thanks taryl for doing what you do i ve learned so much logic on small engines you are the go to guy thanx
He’s crazy, but he is the best. He knows his stuff. If you want to learn he does a good job of explaining what to do.
Old Motorcycle wrench (Harley) told me to check the gas tank first!!!When i was his helper! haha
This is the second video that stated the same thing about the pilot jet. My 420cc clone is doing this, and like you mentioned, I needed to hold the choke slightly shut (not too much). I'm going to try this, and I'm sure it'll take care of the surge. I appreciate the humor, too!
Thanks Taryl I did what you told me to do fixed the problem now there's your dinner
Taryl you're my hero! This video solved a surge problem on my OHV Tekumish. Thanks brother.
Really cool video on carb surging, thanks for sharing.
TaryI knows his onions # one
Hello I an having trouble with my mower was wondering if you might have some advice
Would pressing the primer bulb once a month keep the bowl cleaner?
Any idea why a Briggs 2cyl 18.5 hp inteck when it is hot it won't restart unless you ground out the spark plug wire or pull the spark plug and put the wire on it while cranking then it starts sparking again.?
I just went out to the garage and fixed my permagreen spreader. This video was so helpful
@@allanclose9684 Thanks ...I have not used Ethanol gas in 15 years ....and always Premium ...for all of my 4 stroke motors.
@Taryl Fixes All
Keep this trick I devised years ago for the future when you do carbutator cleaning..
(Like idle circuits)
I used to make/keep custom tubes around for these situations.
I have a husqvarner tiller surging. I followed your directions and it still surging. Runs great on half choke. What should I do?
Enjoyed your video. Could you help me with a Briggs and Stratton 24hp V-Twin. I disassembled the carb and the 2 jets fell out of the fuel transfer tube. Which side does the larger jet go? Do you know the part numbers of the jets? It's a model 407777 Style 0218 E1. Code 001013YH.
Did we see this repair some time in the past? I think so because the solution to the surging problem was such sheer brilliance on the part of the repair technician that i'm very sure I remember this.
This video was a huge help to me ,thanks Taryl
Was looking for help and bam, your show came up.. tried cleaning carb like showed, but still surged while running... so just ordered new carb.. put it on, hooked everything up..started it, ran for split second normal..then went back to surging. Any ideas ...????
As goofy as they are, I really like your video's, good job. Now where do I get those tinny tiny drill bits? My hardware doesn't have them that small.
Drilled it out to the correct size in mm and fixed it, runs great now.
do you have one on the old style carb that sits on top of gas tank goes on a tiller.
I LOVE the spark plug neckless.
Absolutely spot on,fixed my surgin geny first time thanks👍👍👍👍
Nice videos always .
Question I have a vanguard 37hp efi what oil I need to uses for this motor? Thanks
motoroil is good
Don’t use baby oil, that is to keep your baby from rusting.
