This is not their worst album. It's an album for your worst days.
Its a good album but it just sounds like shit. I wish there was a remaster available like there is for Death Magnetic. The remastered version of Death Magnetic sounds infinitely better than the original.

I'm not bashing the album, I love most of the songs (except maybe Invisible Kid and All Within My Hands). Just that the snare is a little annoying.
It's still a great album to listen to when I'm REALLY pissed off.
I really wish they would play Shoot Me Again or Purify live...
@@lakshminarasimhanb2495 remastering doesn't change the recording, the only way to solve it would be to remix it and sample replace the snare, or overdubbing a good snare on top.

donufro honestly it wasn’t even that I don’t think (see: slipknot) . The only reason, and I repeat the ONLY reason people didn’t like st anger was because we were mad about the Napster BS. It’s a stigma that stuck with it , most of the hate nowadays is just bandwagon . Imagine a metal head giving a shit about the sound of a snare. We want the headache .

I've lifted more, ran faster and like a lot of us, got out of some pretty rough times thanks to St. Anger.
Such an underrated album, turning on Some Kind of Monster or Unnamed Feeling can really help me get through rough times
St. Anger and James' rehab story helped me on my baddest days along with Justice album. Those songs saved my fucking life on my worst days where I'm frustrated.

Was huge for me as an angsty teen, for right in with the nu metal of the time but was way heavier.
I know right, Whenever I’m pissed off or sad I put st anger and I just go ham. The way the album was produced and mixed fits your current emotion, doesn’t sound right and you get that annoying anger fuel and you go harder.
I can hear Rob's bass , I can hear Lars' double drum bass.

@King Greed nah mate Lars can't play double base anymore. Also these extra base notes sound incredibly sloppy. Seen them live and when he plays double base it sounds sooooo sloppy it's painful to hear. I've heard it on other live recordings too. I think Lars needs to start to play simpler.. he's got to be honest with himself and admit he is no longer the drummer he used to be.
He added it on I disappear in 2012 too.

@@FOFF1914 I think St. Anger certainly had a lot of potential, but the place the band was in at the time did not lend itself to making a good album. Although that's kind of the problem with current Metallica, they get so close to releasing a good album yet so far because of consistent issues throughout the songs. Hardwired was the closest they've gotten to releasing another fantastic album.

Honestly, now that St. Anger is 17 years old, you could probably look up live versions (which are very good) and remixes online. I feel like it’d be better if they create new content instead of focusing on an old album.
I like the over a decade later people finally like the album. At the time it came out I was dealing with the death of a sibling, my parents divorce being bullied in school and trying to find my place in the world as an impressionable young teen. Now I’m 30 and I still love every note ever played on this album and it still holds a special place in my heart as something used to get through some of my darkest and toughest days in a small nowhere town in Ohio feeling that I never fit in or belonged.

I was at this show. Came over from Ireland. Met Rob Trujillo by pure coincidence in arrivals at the airport. Chatted with him for a minute and shook his hand. While St. Anger is a difficult listen, l really enjoyed hearing Frantic on the night, especially as it was the first time they had played it live in many years. Man, l have a funny feeling that was the last time I'll see them live. I hope I'm wrong of course.

Here's my thought on Kirk's voice. It contrasts James' voice really well, but his voice is simply not strong enough to make good backup vocals, especially if he doesn't warm-up his voice to perform, but if he does, then I just feel bad for him… Just get a good backup vocalist already… Or give Lars a mic XD

Sounds so good now, and on headphones you really hear the nuances of the bass. Rob is such a solid guy, total professional with solid rhythm. Don’t care what anyone says, Rob rejuvenated this band. Lars is lucky to have him.

St.Anger really had a lot of pretty good stuff in it (imo) it was just so bloated and sonically poor. This song kicks ass and is heavy as hell.
I liked the direction of the album. They were capturing raw rhythmic emotions. My main issue with the album (I didn't mind the sound of the drums) was the long repetitive nature of the arrangements.
Furegious yeah that’s the issue more than anything i love st anger it’s amazing but the music videos which include shortened songs are better than the album versions imo especially the unnamed feeling
