Of course if I want to do my scratches and do some battle dj stuff I go for my classic set up and I don’t need the rane one . By the way , very good review man , love your channel. Respect ✊

Thanks for doing a comparison of these two great controllers! I bought the DDJ-1000SRT just before the Rane One was released, but I returned it for the moving platters on the Rane One. It's on back order so hopefully it will live up to to my expectations. I liked a lot of the features of the DDJ-1000SRT. Especially the on board effects, which I will sorely miss. However, I am excited about gaining scratch bank, moving platters, and a crossfader curve adjust knob on the Rane One.
This was a really good review. I recently purchased the DDJ 1000 SRT however I was seriously looking at the Rane controller as well. I will keep what I but appreciate your insights👍🏾
I just did a Dj review on comparing both also with some live technical tests on both Pioneer SRT and Rane One. You can also save $150 on either or $300+ on both! Check out my review below, thanks yo! ua-cam.com/video/Td5VikQ0M7A/v-deo.html
I got the Rane one the day it arrived in stores, being one of the first to get my hands on it in this area. I have to say, it is soooo solid. Since I've gotten it, my SRT has been collecting dust. I'm out 5 days a week and I've gotten used to the weight of it and carrying it out. The sound card on the Rane is next level. The full kill eq just absolutely makes pioneer sound crappy. I loved the SRT and still do, the Rane is just too good for my preferences to be denied.
I'm waiting on my Rane One!!. I wanted to get as close to turn tables as possible, plus I wanted paddles. I go between mixing styles often so cross fader curve knob was one of the reason I did buy the 1000. Rane One for me!
This is something I have been struggling with deciding. I have my mind primarily on the Rane One. I keep looking at the issues with the Rane One and am hesitant on making the jump..
Just found out the Rane One existed.Just faff about with beats and samples for my own pleasure but never gelled with my 1210's using Traktor S4. Dont need Mics, or four channels. This makes DJing look fun again. Scratch Bank is a godsend i'd bet I'd use it all the time. An compact AIO with motorised tables and great audio quality? Waited 20 years for this product and thought my 1210s were my forever decks. Great review. Not seen one of your videos before, had a really nice welcoming feel and packed with answers to questions I had. Thank you.
what do you like more with the 1000? I still think it has a horrible sound card, and horrible mic i/o. I wish Pioneer would get on the ball and upgrade their sound card.
thank you for the info i used 1200 for more than 30 years, thand cdjs 1000 mk3 than pioneer ddj 800 than now got the plx 1000 but with all this info decide top urchase the rane one i just order is coming in a few days i love turntabes . but with this rane one same feelings of the turntables with out getting up and down and get records, it will feel very good to just move a knobs sitting down, cause i have hip isues, thank you cleveland .very smart video
I bought the DDJ 1000SRT in November of 2019. Love the CDJ mechanical Jog Wheels. The goal was to get as close to a Pioneer DJM & CDJs as possible without spending the 7k. Unfortunately the unforeseen issues with Serato weren’t. Serato is a good DJ software application but they have been slacking. The DDJ XDJ XZ was something to wait for being that it can be used 3 ways, Serato, Rekordbox, and USB. The DDJ 1000SRT does have a good array of features but to be honest, I should have waited for the DDJ XDJ XZ or went with the DDJ 1000 & Rekordbox. This is a good example of not only personal preferences, but also what you have mentioned many times Terry, “Know what you are purchasing”. Maybe a video tutorial on the DDJ 1000SRT would rekindle some inspiration for many of us that have purchased. Thanks Terry for another good video 👍 DJ-T
I was pretty much set on the 1000SRT until the RANE ONE came out and just as your review of the S9, Elite & RANE 70 moved me to get the RANe 70, it will probably do the same for the ONE.. Another great review 👍🏾
Great explanation on this video CT! Both Rane One and DDJ 1000 Srt are amazing kits. I am glad you explain how they differ. The choice comes down to the user and their preference. I am a controller/DDJ-mixer type DJ so that works for me. I know DJs who started with vinyl and went to Serato for digital. Those DJs will love the Rane One. Again, it depends on the type of DJ and what gear fits them.
After years of CDJs I switched to the SRT. A few months later the Rane One was released. I thought i’d want to switch but I don’t gig anymore and it doesn’t make much sense.
At first I hated my 1000SRT because of the loop function but once I watched a UA-cam video on how to remapping the loop buttons now I love my 1000SRT lol
When one of my numark tt500s died, I looked into controllers. I had a ddj1000 for about a month, and sold it. It wasn't that I didn't love it. I did! Im a scratcher, and just missed the vinyl feel. I found an amazing deal on stanton str8150 m2's for 299 a piece new, and jumped. I'd have likely never sold the rane. Not saying my opinion should sway anyone.. but that feel is important to me. I'm gonna grab a rane too I believe, lol.
I bought my DDJ 1000SRT in Dec 2019 as I had a pair of CDJ 800s and I wanted a controller w similar jog wheels. So far so good. I love the sound quality as well as efx and talk over mic feature. But I'm mostly a blend DJ but if you're a turntablist, Rane1 might be better for you.
Found this channel by accident but realizing that it’s one of the most informative and well presented channels on this topic out there. Well done and thank you for the content! Would love to hear your opinion on the new trend of using streaming services for dj sets and if all gear in the future will have no local files. Thanks!
I've owned my Rane for over a year now and it's absolutely great. I am a sucker for an excellent deal however and I was able to get a used DDJSRT 1000 for almost half what they go for today so now I have both. Still planning on justifying owning both (and the Numark Mixstream Pro which I love dearly as well.. I hoard, I hoard!! :) )
Well… I’ve sold my DDJ since the Rane is still my go to controller, but honestly, either is fine in my opinion. It will come down to personal preference. Additionally so many new options have become available since then it’s hard to choose or stay with any one controller.
Thanks for your response! I grew up on the TTXs, so the feel and familiarity with the One appeals to me. However, the considerable size difference and mobile convenience of the SRT also pulls me. I’m torn to be honest, but I do know that the One probably has more consistent updates for drivers and such seeing that the SRT is discontinued.
This is super relevant Video man, looking at picking one up for myself but cannot decide which way to go at all though i would say you can get a reasonable Laptop to go with your Pioneer for the same price as the Rane so that would tip the balance for some i am sure. Both considered the tippy top of Laptop Controllers so yes comparing them side by side is fantastic. Can you not use the Scratch Bank to layer in the extra 3rd/4th Tune/Beat/Riff/Acapella kind of like you would having a 3rd/4th Channel on the 1000? Might be a dumb question but hey i never used a Rane? Thanks Terry :)
After watching your review, I think I will go with the Pioneer SRT-1000. I love the old school look of the Rane One, but I have to go with the 1000. Great review my dude!
The only thing that I can not understand is, why does RANE do not build it up a little bit more, to put 2 MagFader for the Linefader? They should build it like the Seventy and put some spinning wheels left and right on in, and it would be my dream DJ Controller.
I'm on the Pioneer 1000. Four volume faders easily supporting 4 decks is a no-brainer for me. If I was a devout turntablist (which I am not) style mixer, absolutely, the Rane unit would be the way to go.
I have the ddj1000srt... had it for about a year but I barely play all 4 channels so me getting the Rane One is a must get..... Dont get me wrong I'm loving the ddj....what really got me was that motorized plater 😀 on the Rane One.... Will they have a coffin for it??? Or just str8 table???
I have the 1000 and played the Rane One last night out in public...for me it really feels like a turntable. Took me a second to get used to being able to pitch up with the turntable, but by the end of the night I found my groove with pitching up. Obviously pitching down is much easier. My least favorite and annoying feature on the 1000 is the effects setup. I hate the on and off button and the turn knob for changing channels. I’m a blend DJ so I used effects a lot and I would always forget to cut something off or turn to the right channel. I love love love the paddles on the Rane One. Yes they def missed the mark with not having more effects tho but not a deal breaker for me. Also it does kind of sucks not having a dedicated sampler volume. Those are my only two cons for the One. Something interesting, the display for the channel gain and output gain don’t seem to read correctly. I would def say more so on the channel gain...it’s always in the red but the track isn’t even peaking on the laptop. Weird. Also, my volume on my laptop...the limiter was in the red and clipping a lot but no issues with the actual output. No clipping on the speakers nor the gain on the board. I’ve never seen this type of situation before. Overall, The One kills the 1000 for me.
1000 for this DJ but I moved to Rekordbox as well. I use to have the Numark NS7 so much like the Rane 1 oh what Rane bought Numark! So there best of both worlds if you like the platters.
Thanks CT - I think your review of these units are totally on point. I sold my ddj-1000 last week and already miss it. I'll pass on the Rane One - the jog wheel are too small for me.
These two machines are soo different, but at the same time, soo close, and people looking to buy a new controller, are really undecided on which one to choose. I last used 1210's in 2005, so I am swayed towards the Rane 90 percent, but possibly moving into club DJing, the 1000 also makes sense, as most if not all, clubs have Nexus 2000/3000 installed.
I agree they are both great controllers with, as Cleveland said, "exclusive features" that makes it hard to choose between them. I returned the DDJ-1000SRT in favor of the Rane One motorized platters to get back to the feel of turntables with the benefit of mobility. However I think the DDJ-1000SRT is a great controller. I probably would have stayed with it if it had scratch bank.
Great point on the TT look/feel, super professional looking, familiar feeling and rock solid build quality, but the elephant in the room is definitely weight, ngl, it’s HEAVY. Mine is in a case wirh wheels but still it’s a factor for setup/breakdown. In between however all is forgotten 😂. If you gig a lot you will appreciate a lighter controller.
The Rane One is a controller designed for Turntablists. The 1000SRT is for Club/Festival/EDM Intro Routine types. I have owned the 1000srt and now the XDJ XZ. I can't see how the Rane One would be a viable purchase for what I do, but I can see how it would be the perfect choice for a Turntablist.
HELLO CT, AWESOME REVIEW ON THIS 2 MASSIVE DJ CONTROLLERS . BUT , I'VE HAVE A QUESTION FOR YOU CT? WITH THE EXPLOSION THAT THE RANE ONE ! JUST HAD , DO YOU THINK THERE WOULD BE A POSSIBILITY THAT THE RANE ONE , WOULD COME OUT WITH A 4 CHANNEL CONTROLLER NEXT YEAR ?
Hey Cleveland. I just got the DDJ 1000SRT vs Rane One. I'm a vinyl person & have to get used to CDJS. Very nice controller. Can you do a tutorial? Thanks. Much appreciated.
am currently in the early stages of doing research on DJ controllers. The Rane One has caught my eye, around the 5:30 mark you talk about an effects board being built in vs using serato effects... What's the major difference? Ease of access to the effects? or is there some more nuance to it that is going over my head?
Rane really cheaped out on that aspect, why make a potential perfect product but strip down features you know working DJs would need. I know why, so that Rane Two will come out with added features and we will buy again.
@@P4boot And that's when my money is going to Rane. I've had the 1000 SRT for a little more than a year. Still love it. I also have 1200's, Rane 72, and the S-11 special edition. So yea, I'm waiting on the next version of the Rane One.
I would pick and prefer the 1000/SRT because I'm a fan of CDJ/DJM setup and that controller mimics the layout. I don't care about the weight and build quality. And you can still scratch on the 1000 even though Rane One was made for scratch DJs
Terry, what do you think between the SRT and the the Rev-7, I’m stuck between the two 😅. I once had the DDJ-1000 Rekordbox and sold that to get Rane 12’s with DJM-S11, now I need something again for smaller events.
The professor on deck, hello Cleveland✌ Thinking of purchasing the XDJ-XZ because it has a send input where I can connect a DJS-1000. For the sake of saving money, if I purchase the Rekordbox DDJ-1000, will I be able to hook up a DJS-1000 to the unit ?
IMO, someone using turntables (like me), will probably go with the Rane One and for those who started DJing with controllers will gravitate towards the DDJ 1000. I agree with you regarding the 2 channels. I suspect that most people are only using 2 channels to mix music. You loose 1 channel for the use of the mic on the 1000 and you have 1 for an aux, while on the Rane 2 you have that aux and mic on separate switch...would that not be the same thing or are we being picky because the 1000 using up faders to control the sound or just familiarity? If familiarity is the answer, the selection of the Rane One and the 1000 would be the same, as I stated earlier. Great choices and the winner is....the manufacturer's...second place winner ( 1st loser...if you ain't winning you loosing...Ricky Bobby), the Consumer.
Rane One feels like the Original Numark NS 7, I own both versions of the Pioneer DDJ 1000 ( REKORDBOX AND SERATO ) Just purchased the Denon DJ Prime 2 great for scratching not on the NMS/DMC level but enough to keep the crowd interested. But back to the subject at hand if you are a pure turntablist then the Rane One is a no-brainer hands down though I must add as a turntablist from the early 1980's you can improvise your scratches on any turntable or controller, but if you are the DJ who can do the dang thang on 4 decks you can do it on the DDJ 1000'S can you scratch on them HECK YES ! BUT ANYONE AND I MEAN ANYONE who has used the Numark NS7 or even the Numark V7's you will feel at home with the Rane One. It is YOUR CHOICE. CLEVELAND TERRY AGAIN EXCELLENT INFO AND UNBIASED ADVICE.
I have the 1000srt and that's all I need in a controller with serato. Now I want a back up and the rane one might not be all that. I love the professional ins and out and construction (having the 72/12 set up) but no on board effects????? C'monn
Rekordbox 1000 still will be my choice I love onboard effects and sample banks volume, u can use the Rekordbox sampler like scratch banks, love the Rane might get it also I didn’t know that the jogs was useless if not spinning I wouldn’t want those motors spinning all the time ,depending on the money flow might get I honestly don’t think we’re opening up till next year and if they did people are not coming out this summer like that.
@@DaDaDamage Well to a certain extent they both are computers that much I agree with but nothing compares to a Mac. windows can do whatever they want it just will never happen. I like pioneer but I’ve always been a Rane fan.
@@djbrs8549 although Mac is heavily used it really hard to fathom the price for what you're getting at times. Mac is premium but windows is not to be overlooked either. Out of respect for you I'm not assuming this, however I think people think windows are unreliable but failed to get a good laptop that's has GOOD components inside and potentially far more superior than a mac especially for less. I will agree Mac experience DJing wise feels nice ,in fact, it feels the same for me on windows but anything not relating to music or music production, im not a fan of their UI and layout(for mac). There sleek design is nice for sure but The Razer Blade 13/15/17 does the same haha 😁😁
@@DaDaDamage As a Person that repairs Mac & windows the boards in the Mac are superior to any windows machine. But I'm not knocking on windows. just facts. no disrespect here. just a convo.
NOTE: People are getting confused when I talk about the crossfader contour. I’m not talking about curve, I’m talking about the contour/weight of the crossfader which allows you to change the resistance of the fader. It has nothing to do with the cut in.
its actually a very interesting, so thank you.. Guess the TL;DR is if you want/need 4 channels take ddj and if you want moving platters take the Rane One.. Just to mention that I don't have any experience on any of them, but both of them on my future list... Also, you really should add your social links to the description, wanted to go checkout IG Great stuff thanks
@J C Perz The only Genre I see needing four channels is House music, because they do four deck mixing, other than that 2 channels is enough for me personally
both are great. On personal level i would go with the Rane one as i started with vinyl so i like spinning platters and i like Ranes gear so that would be my choice but they are pretty different so it would be down to the buyers needs and personal taste. You would be doing well either way.
Having owned an ns73 and then upgraded to a ddj1000 rb edition, as a house/techno Dj, the 1000 is far better to use. The jogs are much easier to bend with. I found myself using the pitch bend buttons a lot with my ns73. However if you are a serious scratcher/turntableist the motorised platters are great. I just think if you do have a scratching bent, you will be more drawn to rane 12s or proper turntables using phase or dvs.
So being that you have 2 moving platter systems, would you add a third with the Rane One? I have similar set ups (70s & 12s, 1200s, 2 channel controller). I’ve really been questioning the need for the One. I’m more mobile so the portability aspect of the One for bars and clubs doesn’t impact me as much. So this video has been helpful. Thanks CT for another great video!
@@djqueyi2447 I would add another controller to my gear, but I'm in no rush to get the Rane one at this time. I will wait to see what the second version has to offer and if it's not a big improvement, I will get another Pioneer controller. Hope this helps.
And just a add recent note Found out that isolate feet on the rane one perform horrible near heavy bass conditions, Also the RG pads are horrible to see in highlight areas or sun ☀️
I just saw a video of this guy making a review on this controller pointing out all the negatives. He said the sound quality is bad, I hear some people using an audio interface to get better sound out of it. I just order the ddj 1000 recorbox version online and I am already thinking I might have to get an audio interface to improve the sound quality. Any feedback on how to improve the sound quality? Both considered the tippy top of Laptop Controllers so yes comparing them side by side is fantastic.
Can you not use the Scratch Bank to layer in the extra 3rd/4th Tune/Beat/Riff/Acapella kind of like you would having a 3rd/4th Channel on the 1000? Might be a dumb question but hey i never used a Rane?
Thanks Terry :)
As always your content and insights are a great source of info. Thanks for the video CT. I really appreciate it!
After watching your review, I think I will go with the Pioneer SRT-1000. I love the old school look of the Rane One, but I have to go with the 1000. Great review my dude!
Good luck getting one😬
Nice vid. Both are good but have the DDJ 1000 (RB) and wouldn’t swap.
I want... both? Thanks for clearing that up!
Dj-1000 do you use a (external mixer) with your setup.. anyone who can help out thanks..
I got the ddj1000 and im waiting for the rane one delivery soon 🤩
Now go buy some Rane 12s and hook them up to it ;) and have the best of both worlds!
Let me think about a way that makes sense.
I love my SZ2 but I’m considering getting an SRT as a second option. I love the all black look.
am currently in the early stages of doing research on DJ controllers. The Rane One has caught my eye, around the 5:30 mark you talk about an effects board being built in vs using serato effects... What's the major difference? Ease of access to the effects? or is there some more nuance to it that is going over my head?
if you connect external sources to the Rane, such as turntables, the effects will not work because they are not hardware effects.
Rane really cheaped out on that aspect, why make a potential perfect product but strip down features you know working DJs would need. I know why, so that Rane Two will come out with added features and we will buy again.
@@P4boot plausible
@@P4boot And that's when my money is going to Rane. I've had the 1000 SRT for a little more than a year. Still love it.
I also have 1200's, Rane 72, and the S-11 special edition. So yea, I'm waiting on the next version of the Rane One.
Should I get the DDJ 1000 now or wait till Pioneer updates or releases a new and improved version?
You can adjust the fader cut in on the ddj 1000 if you hold play + shift when powering on. There's other videos on this.
Fader cut is fine, I was referring to the crossfader contour/weight.
I would pick and prefer the 1000/SRT because I'm a fan of CDJ/DJM setup and that controller mimics the layout. I don't care about the weight and build quality. And you can still scratch on the 1000 even though Rane One was made for scratch DJs
Thanks for the vid. Im sold on the Rane thx!
Awesome review keep up the good work!
Terry, what do you think between the SRT and the the Rev-7, I’m stuck between the two 😅. I once had the DDJ-1000 Rekordbox and sold that to get Rane 12’s with DJM-S11, now I need something again for smaller events.
Rane One , the best!❤💖
Still learning how to use the 1000...gotta learn how to use every single button. Would love a tutorial!!
That shouldn't be a problem, there are many on YT. Just type DDJ-1000 RB or SRT and you'll be good to go
The professor on deck, hello Cleveland✌
Thinking of purchasing the XDJ-XZ because it has a send input where I can connect a DJS-1000.
For the sake of saving money, if I purchase the Rekordbox DDJ-1000, will I be able to hook up a DJS-1000 to the unit ?
I’d be all in on a rane one with 4 Channels so I can hook up my tables on em as well
They both are good I rather the pioneer
Wanted the 1000 for the club feeling and preparation but it’s on back order til next year 😐I folded and got the rane one
Hey Terry. I have the Numark ns7 ii. I've been thinking getting the rane one. Just wondering if it's worth the upgrade. Thank you for the video.
For the DDJ-1000 Rekordbox version, can you select Sample Scratch mode in the Pad Editor?
Rane One feels like the Original Numark NS 7, I own both versions of the Pioneer DDJ 1000 ( REKORDBOX AND SERATO )
Just purchased the Denon DJ Prime 2 great for scratching not on the NMS/DMC level but enough to keep the crowd interested.
Hey bro, which DDJ1000 would you recommend? The SRT or Rekordbox version?
Thank you sir!!! Very informative!!!
I'd love to see a Pioneer djm s7 vs rane seventy video next!
I can do it but I no longer have the S7. It would be off a memory.
Hey Terry can u explain how using the rane one while the platters are turned off? Do you still nudge with the platters or just the bend buttons?
How is the sound quality difference between the two of them?
I have the 1000srt and that's all I need in a controller with serato. Now I want a back up and the rane one might not be all that. I love the professional ins and out and construction (having the 72/12 set up) but no on board effects????? C'monn
It’s one of those you have to play with it to really understand but I get it.
I’m definitely getting a SRT1000
Rane one is a great stuff. Just love it. Serato FX sucks but the feeling of motorized jog is Amazing.
It's like a Mac vs a windows.
In that aspect they're on the same playing field
@@djbrs8549 if yall wanted to save some money; just get hardware similar to a macbook you are looking at and just install mac on it (hackintosh)
Witch do recommend if im not a scratch dj but want to learn how to
Wait your 1000 says serato mine is rekordbox. I didn’t know they had a serato version😔
NOTE: People are getting confused when I talk about the crossfader contour. I’m not talking about curve, I’m talking about the contour/weight of the crossfader which allows you to change the resistance of the fader. It has nothing to do with the cut in.
The physical resistance ??
Are the stand-alone controllers more reliable than using a laptop with one of these aforementioned controllers? Or about even?
Cheers I use to love mixing on the 1210s so rane one is for me I think
its actually a very interesting, so thank you..
Guess the TL;DR is if you want/need 4 channels take ddj and if you want moving platters take the Rane One..
Just to mention that I don't have any experience on any of them, but both of them on my future list...
Also, you really should add your social links to the description, wanted to go checkout IG
Great stuff thanks
DDJ 1000 is better because its verse as regards to four channels because I mix on four channels making my mixing switching very fast ..
Exactly
Having owned an ns73 and then upgraded to a ddj1000 rb edition, as a house/techno Dj, the 1000 is far better to use. The jogs are much easier to bend with. I found myself using the pitch bend buttons a lot with my ns73. However if you are a serious scratcher/turntableist the motorised platters are great. I just think if you do have a scratching bent, you will be more drawn to rane 12s or proper turntables using phase or dvs.
@J C Perz wack comment or wack I had to use pitch bend buttons?
Onboard Fx wins for the 1000srt for me plus I can hook up to my two mk5 s
DDJ 1000 🔥
What you thought on a rev7 vs 1000srt
I have the S11 and 12 mk2's, but I still rock my DDJ-SX lol and yes, I do have my 1200's too
So being that you have 2 moving platter systems, would you add a third with the Rane One? I have similar set ups (70s & 12s, 1200s, 2 channel controller). I’ve really been questioning the need for the One. I’m more mobile so the portability aspect of the One for bars and clubs doesn’t impact me as much. So this video has been helpful. Thanks CT for another great video!
@@djqueyi2447 I would add another controller to my gear, but I'm in no rush to get the Rane one at this time. I will wait to see what the second version has to offer and if it's not a big improvement, I will get another Pioneer controller.
Hope this helps.
Rane one vs NS7 III is a closer battle
No...it’s not. I don’t compare discontinued products 😂
@@ClevelandTerry amen
@@ClevelandTerry even though u just reviewed 2 discontinued products.....2yrs from now 😂
Lol
And just a add recent note Found out that isolate feet on the rane one perform horrible near heavy bass conditions, Also the RG pads are horrible to see in highlight areas or sun ☀️
That’s unfortunately all Rane products. ☀️
Why srt over rekordbox
Rane One vs Numark NS7II??
I want both!
RANE ONE 💥💥💥
No one ever talk about the ns7111, thing is insane.
Thanks how about Rane One Vs Denon Prime 2?
Denon Prime 2 is stand alone, it is not a Serato controller. Denon Prime 4 can be used as Serato controller but not Prime 2
Heres the link of the video review:

DDJ 1000 IS THE BETTER CHOICE
for transition to clubland yes, but i'm still getting a Rane, because it clearly resembles the vinyl experience better for me.
@@skeennah1927 yeah if you Love vinyl and Turntable.then you can go for Rane 🔥🥰
@@HOLIDAYCREWSTUDIOS At the same time I will be playing in clubs after lockdown, they all have Nexus 2000s. To plug my usb into those decks, it needs to be record box ready and analysed. This for me poses a slight problem........
