To save your brain, Minfillia isn't wearing anything protective because she isn't a fighter. Just straight up, she's a miner. She knows how to extract ore. The main reason she's seen as the defacto leader of the Scions is because up until you join, she was the only one with a direct connection to Hydalin. As for everyone else and their outfits, most are casters, one's a martial artist, and one's a rogue just trying to look nondescript and fit in with the masses at the moment. So yeah their outfits aren't bulky suits of armor because that doesn't reflect what they are, they're scholars, mages, and investigators.

It was horrible animation. Remember Square.. breathing does not increase a lady's bust size..
Fact fact about Edda's party- you see them and a few other NPC adventurers outside the entrance of the first three dungeons that you do (or in case of the third one, dead inside it). Edda's questline continues in an optional level 50 dungeon and then in 'Palace of the Dead' (rogue-like extra). The elezen and her grandfather are the third party that also joins the Scions and their story continues on in the background
The real heartbreaking part is when I went back to level an alt on another server and knew to look out for them... Avere is *awful* to Edda. Dude doesn't even *like* her.
Arenvald (who becomes relevant in late Stormblood) is also hanging out around the Waking Sands throughout the game. The one that surprised me was Meffrid, a quest-giving MSQ character you run into during the Little Ala Mhigo questline, who shows up again in Stormblood. When people talk about the writing improving, I think about how his death landed compared to other characters we know for even less time.
@@RothAnim Arenvald's story in ARR is rough. He's basically working with his party to do the best he can and then gets chosen for a solo mission. His party saves up enough gil to buy him a new set of armor then he sets out. Livia's assault on the waking sands happens after he leaves and his entire party is killed.

If you started in Ul'Dah, you'd get Thancred (the white hair K-pop boy), and if you started in Gridania, you'd get Yda and Papalymo (Papa Meow). About Level 10 or so, the storylines converge at Ul'Dah. Your starting city is based on your starting job. If you want the tank mount, you'll need to level crafting. Warning: That is a long time intensive/gold intensive process where its actually best to level all the jobs at the same time because recipes for one job require things made from other jobs, and they all use the same kinds of materials. Which requires you to level at least Botany and Mining, which is even more time involved. And the mount is a Shadowbringers reward, so you couldn't get it on the Free Trial. On the plus side, crafting/gathering/fishing are basically mini-games complete with their own abilities, and they have their own stories like the job quests, so it can be fun, just very time or gold intensive. Also, just to double-check, one of the most important things to do that many new players don't do is unlock the Challenge Log. Its available at 15 in Limsa Lominsa from a blue quest giver, and it unlocks basically weekly missions to play the game and get XP/Gold/Other Currency rewards. It adds its own completionist factor into the game and makes leveling, especially if you play other jobs, much easier. Make sure not to miss it.

Fun fact - ever time you have something in your inventory that makes you go "Wait, how?" CHECK YOUR INVENTORY. There's almost always a joke or explanation. Like "You don't know HOW these are fitting in such a small spot" or the like.
The game story used to be a lot longer and padded but a lot of quests were cut or turned into side quests to speed the process of getting through a realm reborn along
You are the first and only streamer I've seen thus far turn down the easy mode carries/playthrough (free rides, items, etc.) in order to get as close to the "normal" player experience as possible. I respect that.
I died laughing at the Squidward sounds. I’ve always had them play in my mind when I see lalafells walk, but actually hearing it in a video is just amazing!
I love these FFXIV videos! New follower here, and I'll be recommending this series to others as well. You legitimately made me laugh out loud so many times. 😂
after finally finishing the game up to the end of endwalker I can confidently say... yeah the beginning was fucking chill, like snoop smoking that zaza with the gang chill. But with a newbies perspective yeah fighting a firegod at like lv.18/50 is kinda outta pocket but then again the final boss in the very first final fantasy with the context of strangers of paradise this is usual final fantasy series activity
G'alactica shouldn't spoil you too much and follow you every step with an endgame character because you should experience the challenge as a pure untained newbie.
New subscriber here! Absolutely love watching this series as someone who has been playing FF14 since 2019. Your sense of humor is hilarious and your new player perspective offers me the opportunity to look back on my time in ARR. I hope you continue this journey as I impatiently wait in anticipation for the next episode!
I remember reading Momodi's voice (and every lalafel, for that matter) in an EXTREMELY THICK New Jersey accent. It was so fun. :) Glad to see you're enjoying yourself! Can't wait to see more!

" Ifirit the demon guy goes down pretty quick" That is why i recomend doing the story with the NPC's because with other players pretty much nothing is a challenge, lets you go at your pace and be somewhat challenged and feel the power of these boss's
actually not really i have done ifrit with the npc's and while yes he takes longer to kill you don't really miss anything by killing him faster as 4 man ifrit is very bare bones and he pretty much saw everything the boss does

Loved the video! And really enjoyed your sense of humor, which kept me invested in the initial part of the game that I must have played like ten times by now. And as a Lalafell player, I can confirm that yes, we basically come with our own personal stepstools.
Dude, I am LIVING for your reactions so this game. I've been playing it for a long time and recently helped my sister play through all of it over the last year or two and your reactions are just amazing. Subbed cuz I have to know what you think of the rest of the story XD (I'm binging the entire playlist, I watched a couple of vids out of order before going to the playlist)
Yep, this was around the same part of the story that I got hooked, albeit 10 years ago. The only marauders' guild is in Limsa, just as an fyi. You need to do those class quests in order to unlock some of your abilities. At 30, that's 2 abilities, not including the Warrior job unlock. That said, I'm happy that you're liking the story so far. It's the reason why I keep coming back time and again to play.
I think the story pacing fast is because the developers cuts out/revamps alot of old MSQ. Old ARR MSQ used to be such a slog to go through 😂 21:52 some of the class skills is unlock via doing class/job quests so do progress your class quests! You can check if your class/job quest is available by looking under the current MSQ ui top left. Also noted that to unlock WAR you also need to be done with lv 20 MSQ quest too It’s been fun watching your journey and I hope to see more FFXIV videos in the future! Have fun haha
The MSQ you need to finish is called Sylph Management, and it's only like level 20. You can easily be around level 30 in your main class by that point though.
Really enjoying this series, looking forward to the next one! As for unlocking your Marauder evolution of Warrior, you need to finish your level 20 MSQ called Sylph Management. It comes about 8 or so quests after fighting Ifrit. You should be close but maybe not quite there yet. Enjoy the journey, take your time, can't wait to see more.
The reaction to Cactuars is great 😂 They're a long-standing tradition of the Final Fantasy games. They can also hit like trucks depending on your level, so watch out for the Needle attacks
Like the difference between them walking and running Is actually hilarious! I've found out most of the mobs in this game hark back to other ffxiv games!
The password being "wild rose" is a reference to final fantasy 2 which used a key word system to get different dialogues from characters. The term "wild rose" was the first one you learned and was a password for the rebellion of the game.
Teleporting between aethernet shards inside a main city doesn't actually cost you anything to do. It just makes getting around the city a lot quicker. And once you find all the shards inside a city you get a few extra teleports that drop you just outside any of the exits or at the airship landing for that city. It's definitely worth taking the time to find them all! EDIT: Also, you can right click any element in the HUD editing menu to change whether it's visible or not. You have access to like 10 action bars total and you can change the keybinds for them in a separate menu.
honestly the big group content is either as easy or as hard as you want it cause in the duty finder you can set restrictions which adds a lot since I am also in the camp of not wanting to struggle through raids or trials but still want to enjoy the content
Every grouped content in the duty finder can be done with the "Minimum Item Level" and the "No Echo" setting to simulate the on release experience... roughly It's commonly abbreviated as "MiNE" and people sometimes do these runs cuz its fun and its nice to experience old content properly also the trials in the game have an EXTREME/SAVAGE version thats basically Heroic/Mythic in WoW
The tank is from the Dwarve beast tribe. You can buy it (after you reach reputation rank 7 with the Dwarves) with the beast tribe currency you get from the Dwarve tribe quests. You can unlock it when you get to the shadowbringer msq line. I'm not sure how much of the msq you need to do before you unlock the start of the dwarve beast tribe quest line. I still want to know what server you are on, so I can visit you in-game.
Your Momodi voice is now my canon voice for her. I hope you're happy. You cannot become a warrior yet, you need to progress further into the MSQ to unlock job quests.
For more fun from the Devs, make sure you read descriptions of everything. I have a triceratops minion and they basically retell the trike scene from Jurassic Park
I do find myself missing the old days. This trial used to be a real challenge back when the level cap was 50. Most people would not pass it on their first attempt.
You've seen Ungust get backstabbed and thrown in to be tempered (to be killed offscreen for being tempered), but this isn't the last place you see him! If you do Palace of the Dead, he has a random chance of spawning in there as a zombie with a different name - but if you pay attention to models you can see it's him. Same outfit and haircut.
I've been playing FFXIV solid for a couple years... nothing has touched me like this story... but during the current lull I've been dipping back into GW2 which I played years ago.. hence how I found you.. :) your GW2 videos have been a great help... anyway... back to FFXIV... I think ARR kinda gets a bad rap... is it the best of 14.. well no.. but its still great fun.. problem is the other expansions just get better and better as you go, so ARR gets left behind.. I hope you enjoy the ride... take your time! I do hope you get to the end its a long but well worthwhile journey..
Nah Papa Meow fits in nicely with Asmon’s nicknames for the characters-Milfina, Uberdanger, and his wife Y’shlotta. 😃 your rundowns of the plot are great, keep em comin!
I've played ARR at least twice, but I never noticed the Ungust was the guy who was bothering the meat skewer lady.... I guess I'm just that face-blind.
Glad to see you enjoying the story. This is still relatively chill and slow, so I hope you stick with it until it really gets good in Heavensward and onwards.
about boss progression, after you finish the ARR expansion you can unlock Extreme version of the trials and Coils, there you gonna get a real multiplayer content progression, most of things in the main story is just easy so anyone can do it without getting frustrated
The part I like the most about the story is that it doesn't pull any cheap writing clichés just pad the length or cause cheap drama. It's a little hard to cite examples without spoilering, but I will say that there are moments where I'd go "Wow, I've seen lesser stories milk this misunderstanding into a full season." Granted, ARR is full of timewasting "Prove yourself!" moments, but at least there it makes sense because you haven't started killing gods full-time yet.

This series of yours is so much fun to watch! I'm glad you're having a good time, and it seems you have a very good co-adventurer assisting in these shenanigans too! Enjoy the unfoldening of the story
DAMN IT I CAN’T UNHEAR THE SQUIDWARD FEET NOW
Fun fact - ever time you have something in your inventory that makes you go "Wait, how?"
CHECK YOUR INVENTORY. There's almost always a joke or explanation. Like "You don't know HOW these are fitting in such a small spot" or the like.
I've seen about 5 or 6 comments suggesting I pay more attention to that as I am playing through! Thanks for the heads up!
I love all the different nicknames new players give characters/ locations😂
The game story used to be a lot longer and padded but a lot of quests were cut or turned into side quests to speed the process of getting through a realm reborn along
You are the first and only streamer I've seen thus far turn down the easy mode carries/playthrough (free rides, items, etc.) in order to get as close to the "normal" player experience as possible. I respect that.
I apprciate it! Can't expect to have the true experience if everything I'd made easy mode!
I died laughing at the Squidward sounds. I’ve always had them play in my mind when I see lalafells walk, but actually hearing it in a video is just amazing!
Haha! I am sorry but I have now internalized that sound for lalafells. ... suffer with me!
I love these FFXIV videos! New follower here, and I'll be recommending this series to others as well. You legitimately made me laugh out loud so many times. 😂
Hey I am glad! I'm having a ton of fun with this game!
Fun stuff watching you go through this content! Hope you keep going.
Thanks! I have a new episode out on monday!
after finally finishing the game up to the end of endwalker I can confidently say... yeah the beginning was fucking chill, like snoop smoking that zaza with the gang chill.
But with a newbies perspective yeah fighting a firegod at like lv.18/50 is kinda outta pocket but then again the final boss in the very first final fantasy with the context of strangers of paradise this is usual final fantasy series activity
This is awesome. Glad you're enjoying the story and game so far. Videos are immaculate too btw. Very well done. I look forward to seeing more!
Glad you're having fun, brings back the good memories! I didn't mind the slow start, and even enjoyed it quite a bit. Enjoy your walkthrough!
G'alactica shouldn't spoil you too much and follow you every step with an endgame character because you should experience the challenge as a pure untained newbie.
Fun Tip: If you have questions how things work for quest items fitting in your inventory such as corpses, read their description. :)
I've seen that comment alot! I'm going g to have to pay attention to it more as I play!
I love your take on ARR so far. Hope you enjoy it and continue through to Heavensward as well!
Honestly the ff14 community has loved these so gonna keep making them!
Sweet. Enjoy this massive and beautiful story. Been a while since I played it and seeing the beginnings again let me remember instantly all of that and what is to come. And, oh boy, there is sooo much good stuff coming your way. Btw, mained Warrior tank and this was a blast. So buckle up for an awesome ride!
it’s so great to watch someone playing through story that i played so long ago that i’ve forgotten most of it
I didn't know I needed a video series like this until you started releasing these videos. For the sake of the universe, these must continue! Thank you for the laughs, and I'm so glad you're finding so much fun in even the early content of the game. Take my comment and my like to help out with the almighty algorithm!
Hey lex thank you for the encouragement! I think I have to at the very least continue to ARR but I mean heavesward being free... gotta keep going.
Again thank you for your warm support!
Enjoying these videos. Can't wait for more! You're gonna "love" the Warrior guild "master"!
love when you reach a point where you can just grind out hunts to get aetheryte tickets so you go from spending all your gil teleporting to no gil and being able to teleport as much as you want.
also have fun with the next section :)))
I love the constant mouse movement around Papalymo whenever he's on screen in his first appearance.
I'm loving following your journey into FF14. Can't wait to see more.
" Ifirit the demon guy goes down pretty quick" That is why i recomend doing the story with the NPC's because with other players pretty much nothing is a challenge, lets you go at your pace and be somewhat challenged and feel the power of these boss's
Hmm that's actually pretty interesting! Thanks for the tip!
actually not really i have done ifrit with the npc's and while yes he takes longer to kill you don't really miss anything by killing him faster as 4 man ifrit is very bare bones and he pretty much saw everything the boss does
@@GalacticW I'm not just speaking on Ifirit but all the Dungeons and trials, but to each his own, of course only doing the first time through, not suggesting he do it every time
Loved the video!
Ha! Well thank you! Ideally I have another video coming out this Friday with my finale part 1!
it was the "barry white voice with a k-pop look for me"!! This is now my fav story interpretation!! Keep up the good work!!
Old ARR MSQ used to be such a slog to go through 😂
21:52 some of the class skills is unlock via doing class/job quests so do progress your class quests! You can check if your class/job quest is available by looking under the current MSQ ui top left. Also noted that to unlock WAR you also need to be done with lv 20 MSQ quest too
It’s been fun watching your journey and I hope to see more FFXIV videos in the future! Have fun haha
The MSQ you need to finish is called Sylph Management, and it's only like level 20. You can easily be around level 30 in your main class by that point though.
@@Mir_Teiwaz thanks for the clarification! I will edit it to my comment too
Thank you for the kind words! The ffxiv ARR journey has been great fun and without a doubt one that jm excited to continue!
Glad you're retaining the story somewhat 😂 keep having fun in eorzea ! love the edits
Thanks! 😁 it's been great thus far!
Man this is great, you're really entertaining. Please keep this going
Hey thanks! I'm enjoying my time through the game
Welcome to the fold! I appreciate you bringing this story into a more public eye.
I never get tired of seeing people play through this. It's always glorious
Edda's story is so nice. Pay attention to NPCs outside the dungeons!
I'll have to go back to see what happened if I can. I think I breezed right past it. Thanks for the headsup!
He just nonchalantly said "because another primal sneezed on me first"...
Boy ... Oh boy.
It was a sneeze right...
I will never be able to unsee the Lalafell = red panda comparison now, thanks.
Oh, the adventure continues
Fantastic editing and humor that strikes my funny bone. Count me subscribed!
YES!! Love your ff14 vids! so fun to watch you go through the journey, please continue!
You have access to like 10 action bars total and you can change the keybinds for them in a separate menu.
im new here and your videos are very funny 😂 i cant wait to see your journey going forward. welcome to eorzea fellow warrior of light!
this is awesome and i can't tell if you know what eventually happens or are guessing but somethings you say are spookily accurate
Its not that Tataru didn't notice you, Its cause she felt you were a worthy "Business Partner" :3
Lol I just don't know how my character could have been missed!
Let me just say. I love your commentary 😂 Absolutely hilarious. 🤣❤ Subbed!
Momodi standing on someone who didn't pay their bar tab seems in character
on the edge of my seat for more episodes :3c
Planning on monday!
honestly the big group content is either as easy or as hard as you want it cause in the duty finder you can set restrictions which adds a lot since I am also in the camp of not wanting to struggle through raids or trials but still want to enjoy the content
I am here for this journey! You had me at squidward feet on Tataru.
Every grouped content in the duty finder can be done with the "Minimum Item Level" and the "No Echo" setting to simulate the on release experience... roughly
It's commonly abbreviated as "MiNE" and people sometimes do these runs cuz its fun and its nice to experience old content properly
also the trials in the game have an EXTREME/SAVAGE version thats basically Heroic/Mythic in WoW
I'm going to work exactly for that lol and I am on goblin server!
I'll be watching these with great interest...
Hopefully I can provide that interest for many videos to come!
Oh Edda... Nothing bad will ever come from your involvement...
Your Momodi voice is now my canon voice for her. I hope you're happy.
You cannot become a warrior yet, you need to progress further into the MSQ to unlock job quests.
he's about at the point where you unlock jobs. like one or two more quests.
For more fun from the Devs, make sure you read descriptions of everything. I have a triceratops minion and they basically retell the trike scene from Jurassic Park
This game is massive so don't worry, u have a massive journey ahead of u!
Make sure you keep current on your class/Job Quests. They're the second most important type of quest through level 60.
Now that I finished ARR I may have to go and try out some of the secondary jobs to learn them!
I do find myself missing the old days. This trial used to be a real challenge back when the level cap was 50. Most people would not pass it on their first attempt.
That southern accent attempt, bless your heart caffeine pops
The Warrior of Light: Slayer of Gods and Giver of Nods
Mutamix Bubblypots talks like Darth Vader. Change my mind!
All goblins do.
I had no idea I needed to hear this until now....
the cactaur family of mobs are my favorite mobs in the game. they're so cute and goofy.
These videos are great!! Keep it up :D
Nah Papa Meow fits in nicely with Asmon’s nicknames for the characters-Milfina, Uberdanger, and his wife Y’shlotta. 😃 your rundowns of the plot are great, keep em comin!
I can’t play ARR for the first time again, but this is almost better😂😂😂
Ha! I have heard this a few times but honestly it shows how much people love the story of the game that this brings them good memories!
I've played ARR at least twice, but I never noticed the Ungust was the guy who was bothering the meat skewer lady....
I guess I'm just that face-blind.
I'm sorry it was his top fluff that got me, terrible haircut and everything lol
Glad to see you enjoying the story. This is still relatively chill and slow, so I hope you stick with it until it really gets good in Heavensward and onwards.
I'm glad I'm not the only one that read momodi as incredibly southern
Can't believe his mentor didn't take him to the glamour NPC yet what a disastah
I love how you’re still mispronouncing Y’shtola quite heavily 😂 Great video, I can’t wait to see more!
About stuffing corpses in your pocket, sometimes it is worth reading item description on quest items
If you think the main story takes a weird turn, you'll be surprised when you meat a certain gentleman detective...
PLEASE PLEASE KEEP MAKING THESE VIDEOS!!!
each new warrior of lights starts with bags of limited holding, can hold up to 140 corpses
about boss progression, after you finish the ARR expansion you can unlock Extreme version of the trials and Coils, there you gonna get a real multiplayer content progression, most of things in the main story is just easy so anyone can do it without getting frustrated
For a while Uberdanger was being used to call Urianger
Does uberdanger know he is featured in ffxiv?
@@CaffeinatedDad he actually played it for a bit
The part I like the most about the story is that it doesn't pull any cheap writing clichés just pad the length or cause cheap drama. It's a little hard to cite examples without spoilering, but I will say that there are moments where I'd go "Wow, I've seen lesser stories milk this misunderstanding into a full season."
Granted, ARR is full of timewasting "Prove yourself!" moments, but at least there it makes sense because you haven't started killing gods full-time yet.
