- HEY. LISTEN. HELLO. WATCH OUT.
Ocarina of Time turns 25 this year, and considering I haven't played it in almost that long, I figured it was time to come back to Hyrule. But what if our trusty sword was a replica? What do you do when you don't have a sharp hunk of metal to hack-n-slash your way through the game?
Time to find out if we can beat Zelda Ocarina of Time without a sword of any kind. Go get some popcorn, this one's a long one.

Lemon: "I can't think of a reason to ever use Farore's Wind."
Also Lemon: *has to leave multiple dungeons multiple times to restock items and get upgrades
Void Warps baby
It doesn't seem like the game really clarifies how Farore's Wind works.
Maybe if Lemon had looked it up on a wiki (or just played around with it), he'd have gotten some use out of it, though.
Farores wind is one of the most useful items... It is very useful in some dungeons, I also only play OOT while on an elliptical and play for 30 mins at a time, dropping farores is extremely useful when my time is up and im deep in the dungeon. Drop it, save and quit till the next time.
@@Teh_Random_Canadian I like farore's wind too, but tbf your situation is extremely niche considering you only play oot
While on an elliptical.
speedrunners: *visible concern*
I remember using Farore's Wind a lot as a kid, actually. It was basically a two-way Homeward Bone; if a dungeon was giving me grief, I'd use it to make a warp point where I was, then leave the dungeon and come back when I had more fairies/magic/potions/items and be able to pick up right back where I left off. It wasn't game-breaking or anything, but it saved me a lot of time going through puzzles over and over.
See I don't remember it working as a two way homeward bone, I just remember it being a warp to the entrance of a dungeon from inside it. And I feel like there's never been a moment in a pre-BotW Zelda game where there's any reason to leave a dungeon in the middle of it. There's not really any resources you need to replenish from outside a dungeon besides fairies, and even then they aren't super rare in dungeons.
I can't really think of any moment in a Zelda game, especially OoT, where the value of this spell jumped out at me, despite it clearly being good in the right setting
It can be game-breaking. Only in MQ, which honestly is kind of broken already but yeah. The Forest Temple twisted room has its default state inverted, so you can warp into the wall, it's great
I used it a lot, firstly because save quit resets you and I rarely beat them in 1 sitting and second it cuts some loops
@@Dwyer69nah it had some good value. In the water temple for example u could set it after leaving the door for the max water level. Allowing for instant access to max water level without having to back track through the dungeon in case you messed up and did it too soon
iirc you could actually just grab the main treasure from forest, then fire and then water temple (also ice cave i suppose) without fully completing any of them. I liked doing that for some reason (really just a massive waste of time compared to a full run through but i guess it really prepared me for doing randomizer runs)
If I remember right, the deku stick does indeed deal the same damage as a sword. It's just that it's the master sword, and not the kokiri sword, so you're basically dealing double damage during the child arc. Also jump attacks deal double damage again, so you're dealing 4 damage to the kokiri sword's standard of 1. 2 when jumping slashing.
Thank you, Toriel fox, very helpful.
And the biggoron sword does twice the damage of the master sword, meaning a jump attack with it does 8x the damage of a normal slash with the master sword
can not believe he didn’t know that that’s literally the most basic OOT knowledge… that’s when I realized I’m watching a moon that hasn’t played this game in years
@@Cainb23I had no idea the deku stick did MS damage. Wild
Damage values are based on each of Link's hearts having 8HP.
Kokiri Sword, Broken Deku Stick, and Broken Giant's Knife all do 4 damage.
Master Sword and Deku Stick do 8 damage.
Biggoron Sword and Unbroken Giant's Knife do 16 damage.
This is specifically because Dark Link has the same HP as you do, which can vary depending on how many Heart Containers and Heart Pieces each player obtains in their adventure.
This actually means that you can defeat Dark Link in 2 hits if you get the Biggoron Sword and don't collect any health upgrades. The opposite can also be true if you use glitches to get 20 hearts (160 HP) before fighting him or just cheat for max HP with GameShark codes.
I love how I clicked on "skip intro" and it jumped to 51 minutes where it just says "Nope you can't". Man I love this feature.
“He beat me to death with a princess”
“Oh thank goodness! I thought I was the only one.”
"Two on one? No shame in losing to superior numbers! They didn't fight fair!"
"No, you misunderstand me... *He beat me to death, using a princess*"
Letting the intro play out with no interruptions gets you a well deserved like within 40 seconds
Agreed
Seriously. Any kid born between 1980 and 2000 should basically get a nostalgia nut from that sequence, and I’m so happy he did it that way lmao
not gonna argue about that
@@ChaosPhoenix11 I'm a 2006 kid and that gave me nostalgia lmao as my cousins used to play it all the time
@@ChaosPhoenix11 I'm from 2000 and played this game (actually Master Quest) a lot as a kid, on my brothers' saves, much to their chagrin.
Since it was on an emulator, though, I usually did the "clicc funi buton to open game den pres buton to load saev haha" and didn't get to watch the intro, since all I knew how to do was loading savestates and running around.
I still don't understand how or why I always went to the Shadow Temple, despite being ABSOLUTELY TERRIFIED of the Dead Hands.
Really proud of myself whenever I felt brave enough to progress past some spooky room :D
I notice you missed a final "housekeeping" stop. Outside Ganon's castle there is a fairy fountain with a 0.5x damage taken upgrade. It gives you a white barrier around all your hearts and probably would have helped a bit in that last Ganon fight.
I always skipped it because I was already in the final dungeon, but recently I did a 100% run and got it early then cleaned the rest of the game. It's actually really useful
@@Greendawn-di3dl Idk why I don't remember this in the game. I'm losing my mind lol
@@gutter339 I didn't either until super recently, as stated I'd just skip it because ganon was right there already.
I found that and panicked because idk how your supposed to turn it off and then accidentally closed the game without saving
@@Greendawn-di3dl It's definitely one of the most pointless upgrades in Zelda history. It comes so late in the game that if you're good enough to get to it, you're good enough to beat the game without it.
Random fun fact: The Redeads in this game aren't actually undead. They're contructs animated by magic that LOOK undead. this means that after Ganondorf blew up the castle town, he put a bunch of Redeads there to make it look more foreboding.
Based
Nah, this was a retcon proposed in smash. In OOT and MM, the redeads were explicitly described as the undead.
Instead of spending 100 rupees on 10 sticks at the beginning, you can head into the lost woods, take two left turns and spend 40 rupees on a stick capacity upgrade, which also fills your sticks to capacity. That way, you get 20 sticks for less than half the cost of the 10.
STONKS
Also there’s a free Hylian Shield under one of the graves in Kakariko!
@@roganmckee2350 never knew that one!
@@Cirylxlyn In goron city if you blow up the big rolling goron as a kid link near the sign by the tunnel then he’ll give you a free red tunic
@@canontheory that’s as adult but the Goron in a little one, the big Goron as child gives you a bomb bag upgrade

Are there fire bombs in ocarina of time?
@@Heidijackward there is normal bombs
@Pro Cow . I don't think you can get there with out using something else as a wepon so unless he can do a work around
(Why doesn't the @ thing work)
@@Heidijackward To be fair, you can skip straight to Ganon’s castle from Ghoma’s boss room, though that is both a glitch and exploit.
@@xiarno3373 you can also just play the game and have fun
Farores wind was SUPPOSED to be an Anti soft lock tool + a minor navigating aid I'm almost certain, like the Mirror in a link to the past, where it could help you by taking you back to the entrance of a dungeon, or to some set in Stone warp points. Turns out it's way better for WRONG WARPING ALL OVER HYRULE BABY!!!!!
The vanilla use of it is you use it, It creates a warp point at the last door you used, and then teleports you to the dungeon entrance. you can then use it again to warp back to the room in the dungeon saving time. I guess. Randomizers and some mods often have an option to let you use it to set a warp point anywhere. And yeah some glitches can change where it’s supposed to warp you too.
The beginning hit so hard you can‘t even imagine
Glad to know I wasn’t the only one who caught the AdamWestLapDog reference
my first 3 days of breath of the wild was annoying, but we all know after defeating the waterblight, getting the master sword and having 2 bars of stamina the game was super fun.
@@Egibidof1 Sorry dude but i have literally no clue what chu talking about.
I just fucking love this game
Love the video!
Fun fact : The stick does the same damage has the mastersword, Nintendo forgot to lower its dmg value I guess.
Another fun fact : Crouch poke damage value is based on the last Damage action you did. So if you first jump slash then crouch poke you can kill bosses very quickly hahaha.
Jump slash into crouch pokes is how you one cycle the spider
It's deliberate, because it breaks it deals more than base kokiri sword
As a few people have said, the increase in damage is balanced to durability. Save for the Giant's Knife, all sword are indestructible. You can spam swing them. The Deku sticks have limited durability and break after a few hits or so. Because of this, you can only use them so much. You have the ability for child Link to do as much damage as adult Link (aside from the Biggoron's Sword), but only as long as your supply of Deku sticks last.
But yeah, they messed up the damage modifiers for crouch poking.
I love that crouch poking has such a rich history, lol.
I mean, it goes all the way back to LoZ 2, where hiding in the corner and crouch poking was the best and cheesiest method to beating dark link, bar none.
It's surprising how consistent there's exactly one thing that's an impassable roadblock in these challenges.
Edit: Ooops I wrote a reply that was supposed to go under a different comment 😂
I remember playing this game a massive amount as a kid. I realized watching this I would use Farores Wind all the time by putting it at the beginning of every dungeon, just in case, but I rarely ever used it? Crazy nostalgia moment.
I... never went behind the Kokiri shop counter, like, I didn't know you could, and I played it back when it released and all the remakes/other versions... you never stop learning, huh? Thanks for that! (And the 30 seconds, those actually came at a really good time.)
Man, I only played the 3DS version of the game and that intro still hits hard. Just incredible.
Same
Same but I lost my copy :(
OOT 3D is incredible. If ypu could only play one that is the version I would recommend.
i played the gamecube release because i was born in the interstice between gen z and millennial
@@whimsiquisitive probably the most overrated and worst aged game ever lol
Thank you for that 30 seconds of the uninterrupted opening. I didn't grow up with OoT, but today has been nothing short of a waking nightmare and that moment of calm was exactly what i needed to let myself cry it out and get things back under control.
Gaaaaaaaaaaaay
Hey dude, we all have our bad days, how are you holding up now?
@@driesdriesdehaanhe died
Stick attack is actually twice as much damage as the Kokiri sword. Which is the same damage as the Master Sword. The child sections of the game are pretty trivial with enemies that were designed to be hit with the weak sword instead of the stick.
It kind of makes sense in a weird way. "I can't use this sword. I use this sword to time travel. What if I break it?"
To be honest, I have no idea how you'd make a challenge run out of it, but one day I'd love to see a Minish Cap run. Love the video!
bribe
No hat?
@@finercandy45113 Whaaaaat, no. I have no idea what you're on about.
Minish Cap would be interesting to see. In general it's up there for my favorite Zelda games, (I always prefered the 2D games to the 3D ones), but my favorites are the Oracle games, so I'd love to see him find a way to do a challenge run in those. Bonus points if he does both games, because then depending on which he does first, his route might be different.
The first 30 seconds did more than give me nostalgia. It was genuinely comforting. It felt like I was back in a time where the only problems were figuring out what it was I was going to do after school. Simpler times.
Agreed, the nostalgia of this game hits you like a truck, I remember the fun times (like sneaking through the gerudo hideout for the first time, feeling like a ninja) and the bad times (trying to defeat Bongo Bongo without realising I had to use the specail boots and constantly losing) overall this was a fun game that I loved playing and defeating Ganon filled me with a lot of excitement.
All things change
Look up the Zeldawave video. It's a beautiful tribute music video, in the Lofi style.
@@mayanboricua thanks for the recommendation it's phenomenal.
That little 30 second nostalgia hit was so good. Felt, even if just for a moment, like a little kid again. Thanks man.
It's fitting to feel nostalgia for a game like this. I remember sitting Infront of my small square-back tv, half a metre away, and playing with a blanket around me to keep me warm when I was about 10 years old.
It's a game about growing up, and it feels kind of sad about how simple times were when we were younger. But also how much we can do as adults. Which is a theme if the game.
Truly, still a masterpiece in my eyes.
35:14 Here’s a tip for crossing the desert if you ever do another OOT challenge: Play the Song of Storms at night. You can see the flags silhouetted against the skybox whenever the lightning flashes
Only way I could make it past that part when I was a kid lol
The storm goes away if you die in Wasteland. Might take a while if you have high health, but I think it's a neat little bug.
@@wompastompa3692 yup, works at night and day too to see easier as well, not just daytime.
Another quicker way if you have magic: Doing a quickspin actually removes the storm temporarily and gives you full vision of the flags every time you spin at the cost of no magic. So you don't even need to play a song every time, you can just quickspin and go straight away to the next flag. Works both daytime and nighttime.
Of course this couldn't be used without using the sword for this particular challenge, but it's good to know for crossing the desert in a future challenge.
Always fun to see Lemon do non-Soulsborne challenge runs
The commentary is actual gold even tho im too young to have played the original this game is still nostalgic for me thx to the 3DS remakes making it my first zelda game
Honestly, that remake is so much better. Tighter controls, gyro aiming, and some prices were lowered to banish grinding. 10/10
You have really good commentary, I didn't find one time in the video where I wanted to skip ahead. Good job! Subscribed
25:43 is one of the best use cases for Farore's Wind. If you fall off you can just cast it to set the warp point then cast it again to go back up to to room you just fell down from.
I always choose to get the free Hylian Shield from the Kakariko Graveyard. But I guess since its super quick to grind rupees, you might as well buy it.
Also, I'm pretty sure that the Deku Sticks do the same damage as the Master Sword not the Kokiri Sword. That's why speedruners use the sticks as child Link.
I thought they used them because of that glitch that allows them to hit at ridiculous swing rate.
@Invenblocker Probably, but I think you can use that glitch with swords too.
@@bdhuffman42 Ah, ok. Didn't know it works with swords too.
To have the sfick hit as hard as the master sword they use memory manipulation. It doesnt normally do that.
@@egoalter1276 stick does the same damage as master sword AFAIK. Maybe you’re confusing the “memory manipulation” part with power crouch stab, a glitch that takes advantage of a crouch stab not having a defined damage value, which causes it to default to the last used damage value. This means for example if you swung kokiri sword normally before doing a crouch stab, it will deal 1 damage point, while if you used jump slash with kokiri sword before crouch stabbing you would deal 2 damage points
Can we expect a similar challenge run but with Majora's Mask?
Or possibly any other Zelda game for that matter. Not sure how possible it will be in most games, but still would be interesting to see.
I'm not gonna lie, I enjoyed this so much that I didn't even realize that it was almost an hour long. One of my favorite parts was the 30 seconds at the beginning with the title screen. Your commentary style is great though and I'm so glad UA-cam suggested your video. Keep up the amazing work! Looking forward to hopefully a Majora's Mask Video.
That opening theme hits my right in the feels. Remembered playing this gane with my mom, taking turns beating dungeons, following the strategy guide, etc.
I hope your feels get well soon! Lol
I'd love to see more challenge runs for these older games, personally, they feel perfect for them since they where made when games where made to be alot more linear.
I simply love this video, and however often I watch this the first minute is enough to prove and remind myself how good your channel is. :)
Thank you for doing this, and keep rolling.
-> would love to see you play more zelda games (especially tloz-twilight-princess), but more importantly, play what you wanna play. ;)
the intro of this video was a much needed breathing moment for me during finals week. thank you
I love how a sword is literally incorporated into the logo for the game and then you just have Lemon being like, "Nope, don't need it".
And the funny is thing is that you really don't, for the most part. Child Link can kill everything with sticks instead of a sword, and there're only three things Adult Link can't kill with the Megaton Hammer. To be honest, it's amazing what you can do swordless in this game.
@@jruler93
Just last two hits on Ganon. Crouch stabs are bugged to do the same exact damage as your previous attack. Entering a new area resets your previous attack, so crouch stab defaults to 1 damage. This hurts anything that sword would.
@@wompastompa3692 Well with that, you could circumvent the last few things you would need a sword for, if you let yourself swing the sword without hitting anything. Just jump slash away from the enemy with the Biggoron Sword and you can kill Dead Hand and Bongo Bongo with hammer crouch stabs; do the same with the Master Sword, and you could probably kill Ganon the same way.
@@jruler93
No, I'm saying you don't even need to swing the sword to defeat DH and BB. Uninitialized Power Crouch Stab does 1 damage that hurts them. Just enter their rooms and start crouch stabbing with hammer until you win. So long as you don't actually swing the hammer, there's no need to swing the sword.
@@wompastompa3692 Yeah, no, I do get what you were saying. But 1 damage is, like, what, equal to a Kokiri Sword swing? Jump slashing with the Biggoron Sword and using that damage in your crouch stabs would greatly expedite the fights.
Hearing the start up screen and hearing the music brought the absolute biggest grin on my face, like the the 7 year old in me waiting for my dad to come home from a long day a work. Jumping up and down when he got home to be picked up, have dinner then sit down and enact the N64 start up ritual. Just to play this game over and over again. This will never ever give me grief, I love this game and it will be my favorite game for all time!
Honestly, it's refreshing to see a video of this game with a challenge of this caliber done by a casual player who doesn't know the game in and out. Good work!
The first 30 seconds took me back to my old house.. I was in 7th grade.. my childhood was at it’s peak and I had no clue.. thanks for this bro
Hey lemon, I used to think ppl who said “you’ve helped me through so manny dark times” ridiculous, just doing it for attention and likes, but recently I’ve had my own stress hard times and thoughts that keep a constant hold on me feeling like a knot and cold is in my chest, but lemon tank you, truly your videos are the brief respite the bonfire to my hard times and giving me enough comfort to keep going, you are my maiden. Thank you lemon truly if nothing else you touched my life and made a good change
I swear I could watch you play anything, the positivity is soul warming.
Just 100% wind waker on GameCube, so watching someone else do something fun in another childhood classic is a breath of fresh air. Your videos always entertain lemon.
Great to see you doing a challenge run in the game of my childhood, the first video game I ever played as well!
I absolutely love that Lemon kayfabes the plot of these games we all know inside out - really adds to the immersion.
With how Lemon told some boss fights, and how I felt chills at certain moments, I kinda want to develop a darksouls-esque game just to watch Lemon play and tell his tale on the game... well first I have to learn to code
thanks for tellin me to stop and take a breath at the beginning! changed my hole day. great vid!
I was 4 when this game came out. I remember having my cousin who was visiting from Maine (I lived and still live in Maryland) beat the child section of the game and getting to experience the whole new adult section which, 6-10 year old self, never got to see before in another game. It was magical and so fun it solidified my love of games. I'm glad Lemon is touching on this game since I still consume OoT content. All hail the patience golem
I grew up with my older brother's files available and just fucked around exploring a lot. I remember discovering enemies change based on whether you were young link or not by going to the forest area and the big beefy guy was replaced by dekus. Fond memories, those
Farore's Wind is extremely helpful in the water temple. You can use it to skip to either the top or bottom water level locations. There is also a scarecrow on the top water level location you can reach with the longshot.
Woke up 'on the wrong side of the bed' today, sat down at my desk and got ready to slog through my day. But that first 30 seconds with your kind greeting was a total 180° turn around in the best way :D Loving your content style man!
Theoretically, you could beat the Shadow temple with young Link by using the bomb glitch, and kill Bongo Bongo with the Deku Sticks.
The nostalgia for a game that's older than i am is real. I loved watching my dad play this when i was a kid.
I still get goosebumps when the ocarina of time titlescreen starts.
So much nostalgia: my first game beaten to 100%.
My first 3d Game.
My first N64 Game which was the first console I could call my own.
And last but not least Ocarina of time was the first game I bought myself.
Oh, Lemon, you brave soul! Taking on Ocarina of Time without a sword? That's like going to a war with a spoon. This video had me on the edge of my throne, clutching my pearls and laughing all at once.
Firstly, I must commend your audacity. Who needs a sword when you have sticks, slingshots, and sheer determination? Your journey through the Great Deku Tree with nothing but sticks was a nostalgic joyride, and watching you whack Goma into submission was oddly satisfying. And let's not forget the endless grind for rupees - the true test of patience and sanity.
Navigating the dungeons without your trusty sword was like watching a toddler try to conquer Mount Everest. The makeshift roller coaster of bomb hovers, boomerang throws, and fire puzzles was an absolute delight. Your commentary, peppered with sarcasm and humor, made the grinding and backtracking bearable.
Dark Link, my dear nemesis, you handled him like a seasoned pro. Using dins fire and your hook shot to outmaneuver him was a stroke of genius. The frustration was palpable, but your perseverance shone through. The Phantom Ganon battle with the bottle trick? Classic. I nearly spilled my tea laughing.
Bongo Bongo's hook shot glitch, though - what a revelation! Your dedication to uncovering every possible method, even if it meant diving into the murky depths of game versions, was truly commendable. Even though the run hit a brick wall there, you carried on with grace and wit.
And finally, the showdown with Ganon. Watching you roll past his attacks and land those precious hammer blows was exhilarating. The moment you realized the master sword wasn't a replica - priceless! The triumphant finish was the cherry on top.
In short, this video was a roller coaster of nostalgia, frustration, and triumph. You've given Ocarina of Time a new flavor, and it’s a dish I’ll savor for a long time. Bravo, Lemon! Can't wait to see what you tackle next. Maybe a no-jump Mario run? Just kidding... or am I?
Oh my gosh I’m replaying oot recently and I completely how to get the fire arrows, so I’m glad I watched this video
I remember when I was a young child and I watched my day play this. I even remember going with my mother to buy Majora's Mask and a N64 expansion pack for his birthday.
MM was unreal, that game freaked me out when I was a kid, still loved it
The nostalgia will always be there. But I can't thank you enough for telling me to take a breath and just take the next 30 seconds in. Love you and your content. Keep it up!
“Puddle Hylia is back to being a lake”
That got me.
Hearing the fear in your voice while you shout demon for the owl is just perfect it’s every reaction I’ve seen
oh god. I hurt myself laughing WAY too much on this. His reaction to the great faerie.. same one I had. 'Uhm.. whats she wearing.. why is she so pointy... oh god, look too close your gonna poke an eye out'... They are still nightmare inducing.
This is WAY too much for me.. I'm loving it.
Farore's Wind lets you set a teleport point inside a dungeon. Super useful for fast traveling back to a dungeon. Very useful in a randomizer as well
Waves of nostalgia, immediate relaxation and positive serotonin, all from 30 of music.
You can use Farore's Wind to at a point in the dungeon you want to return to, like say the boss room entrance, and recast it at the start of the dungeon to get there instantly.

YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSSSSS
BABE GET IN HERE THE BACKLOGS JUST UPLOADED
I never knew I needed you playing this game until i saw it. been watching speedruns for ages so this is no surprise but I love the way you present information. Good stuff!
There's a nifty little trick that should actually fix BOTH of the times you broke the challenge. Crouch stabs have the rather unique property of storing the damage value and type of the previous attack, so if you jump attack with the master sword and then crouch stab with the hammer, it tricks the game into thinking you attacked with the master sword, and uses its jump attack value.
Oh wow. I gotta try that the next time I play this game.
@@enlongjones2394 With the master sword and hammer there is little point. They do the same damage unfortunately, making the hammer just unwieldy with basically no benefit. As a kid doing a jump slash with the deku stick loads a master sword jump attack for kokiri sword stabs. As an adult, your only option to do more damage to load for stabs is the biggoron's sword, although the giants knife also works as long as its not broken. So you can jump attack nothing but air to load the damage.
@@JeikobuDid you not see the comment? It stores not just the damage, but the TYPE, which is huge against Bongo Bongo
doesn't that still invalidate the challenge though? the sword was used even if it didn't directly do damage
@@saxeladude if the sword doesn’t hit anything, then I’d say it’s closer to the goal of the challenge than actually hitting with the sword would be.
Farore‘s wind was such a game changer! Failing to kill Bongo Bongo for the 20th time as a kid would honestly have made me quit the game if I had to run through the entire shadow temple every time. Spirit temple too. I just placed it in the room that held the boss door and saved before I entered the door.
You can’t lie OCARINA of time theme and the korok forest theme go hard
Ive watched this video quite a few times now. I just caught the little brother named lime joke. Very good Lemon 😂
Your commentary makes me want a story where the main protag actually believed his weapon of legend was not real. Just like this little piece, he goes through and does it the alternative way for everything, thinking he wasn’t worthy or not using thevrelic weapon or item.
Essentially a dnd character who failed his lore check on an artifact of power.
This was extremely soothing and fun. I do appreciate the variety this challenge run brings, it's nice to watch something unusual. Thank you lemon, really loved the video uwu
for people who do not know. the stick does the same dmg as the master sword. idk why but they are just as strong as the sword you use for most of the game
Was hoping someone would add this, that's much of why it just wreaks the earlygame so much.
Ferore's Wind is used as a dungeon checkpoint. You can activate and leave the dungeon to restock on items then TP back.
I've just come across your channel and all I can say is you're entertaining to say the least 😂
God the nostalgia from that opening had me feeling like a kid again, playing this game on the tv in the living room while my parents read behind me. I actually enjoyed the Twinrova fight so much as a kid that I made a separate save file right before the fight so I could load it up and fight them whenever I wanted...god I love this game
Actually, the Speedrunning glitch used against Bongo Bongo probably wouldn't get around the no sword restriction. The ISG in the title of Sniping's video certainly refers to the Infinite Sword Glitch, which causes the Master Sword to basically be in a constant state of dealing damage. If you look at their video (or 44:10 in this video) you can actually see the impact flashes coming off from where it's hitting, showing that it is almost certainly the sword which is dealing damage, which I would assume is still against the rules of this run.
You can still use ISG with megaton hammer
Megaton Hammer can be used for ISG instead, so it still counts
@@fabuloussuperstar588 Or equip swap the Deku Sticks over Din's Fire, jump slash then ISG. Just as much power as the Master Sword, but infinite.
Don't even need ISG, uninitialized PCS with hammer is good enough. You can even stunlock Bongo with just that.
I remember doing my first no tunics and no sword run. this takes me back
thank you for the intro down into memory lane :)
The intro alone convinced me to join your channel as a member, loved that uninterrupted menu music. Love you for that
"Can I have a go-kart to go with it?"
No, but you can have a motorcycle.
Thank you I needed that 30 seconds at the start
Though this was more a nostalgic than narrative "story", to this challenge run, I liked it. Was really fun to see a game from my childhood revisited and challenged run (don't think that's a verb🤔). Plus, your running commentary is always appreciated. Honestly Lemon, you could make the hunt for a toy at the bottom of a cereal box entertaining. Great Job Lemon! Don't be afraid to keep pumping more of these types of runs out. It was easy breezy fun and I for one am here for it.
Glad to see you finishing this run!
The gameboy zeldas were the first for me, but then I borrowed OoT from a friend and really fell in love in a way that the gameboy games just couldn't. Then Majoras Mask followed , the Minish Cap for the GBA and Windwaker for the GC. I personally felt like we hit the peak with Twilight Princess for the Wii. I should really get Breath of the Wild huh...
I effin love this! Didn't frown once! Constant laughter from me!😂 Bad ass man!
While I was born after this game first came out, I played it a bit on the GameCube and Wii virtual consoles, as well as the 3DS remaster. Can confirm, the beginning sequence still gave me nostalgia :3
Now this game takes me back so long ago, especially that Intro. Just the opening of the game hits me hard.
Replay it, still as fun as it was in the 90's
The hookshot glitch said "with ISG" which is infinite sword glitch, it's done by interrupting a crouch stab with an action, such as picking up a bomb or talking to a gossip stone, the sword was what was doing damage to bongo bongo though, so it's a sword usage regardless, it should in theory be possible to beat bongo bongo using equip swap to use deku sticks as adult, or you can use other glitches to access and complete shadow temple as child, so it's still do-able with glitches.
Or hammer
The nostalgia was insane in the first 30 seconds wow. I really need to play Ocarina of Time again
i was worried when you were came up to ganons phantom, then the bottle play came out! wasn't expecting that haha!
Man that opening brought back so many memories. I remember begging my dad to rent this from blockbuster all the time. Until my he just gave up and bought it for me for my birthday.
Dammit Lemon! That opening straight-up brought a tear to my eye.
That 30 seconds of the main theme... man, it's so relaxing, slightly somber, and oh so nostalgic. I'm starting to feel like an old man every time I say this, but damn, they don't make em like they used to.
Early days of gaming? Thanks for making me feel old.
Something I remember from watching the vod of the stream, was that you kept throwing rocks and pots, but once you have the shield you can just press the shield button and drop the item. This would have let you pick up the drops faster. Just a small thing.
The thought that someone has never played OoT or even heard of it is like a waking nightmare. I picked up on the game through my mom's love for it, she would always beat the Shadow Temple for me cause the hand scared me so much, so the game was always part of me. It's weird to think someone would have no idea about it even existing somehow.
The only Zelda game I've played is a link to the past. I went and got a Playstation and haven't played nintendo ever since. I might buy am N64 to try this game out. I've heard of some people even claiming ocarina of the time is slightly better than link to the past. I can't imagine that to be true but I'll find out possibly this weekend
@@The_Hulkster please get back to us and let us know how it went 💞
@@priestesslucy3299 I bought a shield and I found the sword. I need to save the big tree guy with thr mustache. This is a tough game but it's fun so far. Hopefully I don't get bored of it. I'm still curious as to how it's the best game of all time but I'm still early on in the game
@@The_Hulkster
The thing with older games often is that they don't age well, especially in terms of controls.
I replayed many games from my childhood/teen years and although the movement etc were horrible i didn't care and had fun.
On the other hand when i try old games that i haven't played back then, even if they're loved by many people, it's often that i get
frustrated really quick and quit them.
So while i love OOT i wouldn't blame someone like you, who plays it for the first time nowadays, if you don't like it.
Did you finish it already?
@@christianstachl Hey friend, I actually got really far. I made it to the never land woods dungeon as an adult and it seems like I got stuck and frustrated like you said. That map is neigh unbeatable in mt opinion. Ran around it so much and sucked the fun out of the game. Ah well, it was a good game otherwise
Literally just noticed the Diablos roar dubbed over Ganon's lmao, nice little touch that def had me pause and go, "is that real?"
that intro was stellar. i almost cried
Oh the nostalgia, I had this game as a kid on the GameCube but I never finished I just replayed the starting level over and over again, I’m gonna let this man be my first play through
That's not really a play through but.
@@cax1175he never said he played through it. He said he'd watch this to experience it.
It was useful in the fire temple in case you fell off the spiral staircase to get the megaton hammer. Also was kind of useful in the room where you had to free the goron on the second floor of the rock maze in case you fell off. Other than that, Forore's wind is fairly useless outside of bugs and glitching.
12:37 Lemon articulates a feeling I've had my whole adult life and haven't been able to form into a coherent thought
