It's so nice to realize, really. Just all that stuff we never came across, besides maybe the odd clip in a game like Banjo-Tooie after a _lot_ of trying, and all these people spending years finding ways to pick it all apart and play it differently than any of us probably even wanted to. Well except Sonic 2. I played Chemical Plant _carefully_ to avoid zipping.
It's mostly just down to the fact older games don't error-check. Modern games could be broken just as open if it wasn't for the fact that almost every programming language and game engine will check meticulously if things are working as intended. And for good reason. Something like ACE was discovered in modded minecraft and there was a well-justified huge panic.
Your videos will be enhanced by getting a higher quality microphone. So, put this money toward it. They're not too expensive, and your videos are so well done otherwise, I feel it is a necessity. Good luck with your youtube journey!
This is a fantastic challenge. It's kind of funny how it devolved into "luckily, there's a glitch for that." Anyone who says this game isn't fully open world and that you can't do all the dungeons in any order just can't do the glitches. :3
i mean you dont necessarily HAVE to do glitches for it theres just usually some item you need from another dungeon to make progress in another dungeon if you are doing it glitchless and even then you can just get the item needed and leave the dungeon to go to another one
btw, im pretty sure the 'funny knee-thing' that AdultLink does in cutscenes is based on how those cutscenes were coded...as far as i understand it, they basically have a pointer for where Link's Head should be, and then another pointer for where his Feet should be...this is to prevent his feet from simply clipping into the ground, if theres uneven terrain or whatever...but the Distance between Head and Feet is hard-coded into the cutscene based on the age Link SHOULD be during that cutscene... a "less-glitchy leftover" of this is the SleepingWaterfall cutscene at Zora's River (its the sweeping camera movement after playing Zelda's Lullaby at the entrance)...apparently the devs forgot that AdultLink has to come through here too, because his knees are all bent for This cutscene, since his Head and Feet placement are based on YoungLink's height... (as for an 'Adult Cutscene as Child' example, the Ganondorf-Ganon Transformation cutscene will have YoungLink standing at the same height as AdultZelda, but the camera is 'conveniently' cropped to not show Link's floating legs, iirc)
And then Zelda asks Link for the ocarina in the end cutscene... and just as he was about to say "uh, sorry princess, what's an oh-ca-ree-na?", she tells Link "there, in your pocket"... and Link is like "wtf, who put that thing there?!".
If you can find a way to start a new file without being deku then good luck. Closest we will get is the true one cycle run with the new clip into kafei's hideout
There's actually a video delving into how few instances of wearing a mask are required to beat MM after song of healing, and the dude managed to bring it down to one: Zora link to access Great Bay Temple
I second the comment about your microphone. I find your videos interesting and entertaining, but the audio quality does sound bad 😂 I hope you're able to get a better one soon.
36:33 I discovered on my own you can hit this switch blocked by the block of time by just jump slashing with the hammer. Because the block is partially underground the hit box doesn't register properly and you can just bonk the switch inside. Randomizers sometimes put you in the fire dungeon with no ocarina so you have to experiment with solutions :)
Loved it! Only thing is I wished you showed the Quest Status more often to see your status. I’m a visual person. Either way put in a lot of effort, great job!
I hope this isn't another one of these challenges where you think you'll see a bunch of creative game play, then just watch someone bomb hover over everything for an hour. Edit after watching: This was a perfect challenge video. Precision, technique, planning, strategy, creativity, know-how...this is what makes me love these. Props to you for the best OOT challenge video I've seen.
these objectives make this a challenging run idea! so many “beat X game without X” are essentially just trying to make it to the final scenes and skip around. but challenging yourself to actually go through the whole game is awesome!
I have said it before, but it can be said again. Everything seems to be possible in the N64 Zelda games! This challenge was interesting. The most mindblowing thing was that jump you made in Dodongo's cavern with the hookshot and fairy.
this was a very fun video! no complaints, except partially for the ocarina bottle to escape the forest temple, but you didn't *hold* an ocarina and still held yourself to not learning them so its overlookable. what i kept thinking throughout this video is how unoptimal things were. You could have gone in gotten the longshot at any time without getting the medallion, which would have saved time in spirit, getting to spirit, and definitely around the dungeons. You could have come to spirit as child by hopping the fence, getting all the way to the gauntlets, then hopping off the hand so you wouldn't get the requiem. all before first going adult, which would have saved time and glitches in places like fire temple. those aren't complaints, though, because despite the unoptimal plays, it really showed you were crafting this yourself and having fun. definite plus in my book
This is making my head hurt. Very impressive. And always good to find out new things about a game I've cherished for so long. But I need a break before I finish it lol
Great video! There's lots of ways to bypass the obstacles in your playthrough, so it was interesting to see which ones you chose to learn and do. Props for seeing it through!
Awesome video! Learning glitches is a lot of fun in this game haha. Theres actually a way easier and faster way to clip into the water temple, if you ever need to do that again. ZFG's channel has a video guide of the setup, but its nowhere near as precise as it looks, so you can pretty much eyeball the angle.
Navi will always be usable a few minutes after the game is opened from a save. If you fail the dive, it will take more than 10 minutes for navi to be able to talk again
"C'mon! Be brave! Let's go into the Great Deku Tree!" is something I find almost every time I do a randomizer, I could be in Ganon's castle while Navi pesters me about the Great Deku Tree-
amazing video, and also looks like a hellish challenge, but congrats on doing it, i would love to see more videos like this in the future, see what essential item you can skip in a zelda game
Fun fact you don't even need Din's Fire to open the door to the shadow temple you could just use fire arrows as you line up a few torches at a time. It's what i used to do before i found out Din's fire was a thing as a kid and it was annoying as i had to buy a few green potions if i remember correctly
Awesome video ! I’ve seen a couple other people do this but you took a few different paths to get this done - very cool! Edit: Bro I laughed so hard at that “pretend ocarina” part at the end of the forest temple 😂😂😂😂
you can get epona if you use one of the other horses by having ingo unload then win the race when he locks the gate jump over with the different horse and it will just turn into epona
All that trouble to get some bombchus?! I assume that this is a "no gameshark cheats" strategy, but if you _did_ use them, getting bombchus would be super easy, barely an inconvenience!
Friendly piece of feedback. When explaining glitches, first show how the trick plays out, then explain how it works. It's what Bismuth and Summoning Salt do and it's really nice for the viewer. I knew most of the more well known ones and they were easy to follow but with the ones I didn't know (like in the shadow temple) it would have been really nice to see the trick unfold first or know what the goal of the trick is, then get the explanation. And a few more minor points, leaving out specific frames of tricks could make explanations a bit cleaner (some were almost tutorial like). Some tricks like ISG were explained multiple times. Not too bad or anything but could make things smoother. Overall good video and enjoyable to watch, had fun watching it
Fun fact! You can actually Navi Dive into the Bottom of the Well, cut the sign, then jump in and climb up the ladder, then do the Navi Dive like normal and swim backwards into the entrance.
How the hell does anyone find these glitches? "Hey guys, I found out that if you drop a bomb, do a backflip, stab with your sword twice, rotate 90 degrees, change your boots and grab a chicken as it runs past, it launches you across the map to get the Spirit medallion before beating the Great Deku Tree!"
It's strange seeing bosses like Bongo without crouch stabs, I always do a jumpslash followed by spamming crouch stabs (For those who don't know, crouch stabs carry the properties of your last attack, so crouch stabbing after a jump slash will make it do the increased damage of a jumpslash)
Also if you do this challenge again i recommend early Gerudoas a kid and do the child part of the spirit temple that way you will just have the silver gauntlets, sure that means you would have to do Gerudo twice but at least you don't have to do a glitch to get past a block you push in fire temple. Though it would also mean you have to do forest escape twice. Also you don't need the bow for the boss key chest just take damage then open the chest as for some reason this chest in particular the flames around it won't knock you back again till invincibility frames go away so you can just take damage on what looks like a slugma from pokemon and just open the chest. However you do need Zelda's lullaby to open that door to that room if i recall correctly, so you would still need to skip the boss key anyways
That's so interesting but wow 😮 Glad you can do that with helpful videos online. Also, I didn't know you could break bombable walls with blue fire. I never tried that before to know about it I feel. I wonder if most of the glitches were not in the 3DS version though since I never had and played the original. I loved my over 300 record top game and system and show off hours in my childhood. 😊
Dude these videos are fire, but like that one donation said, get a better mic if you have enough spare cash. It will be so worth it and is the only thing that seems even slightly low quality about these videos.

Lol grumpy member of the Lollipop Guild. Rest in Peace Jerry Maren. I had the game crash on me when I was playing around with the PC port in Ocarina of Time. I was goofing around and talked to the Deku Tree Sprout as Young Link and the game crashed not long after that. 23:04 I also did this. Navi: Be brave! Let's go into the Great Deku Tree! Link: Why? I have no reason to be there. I also saw Adult Link scream like Young Link. Volagia Boss fight? It's Volvagia.
This looks very relatable as when i attempted to play ocarina of time for the first time, i couldn't get very far because I couldn't find the ocarina at all, after the deku tree, there was a tree trunk like cave things and no matter how many i went through, it kept going and I couldn't progress, botw and totk and twilight princess and skyward sword were great, but I could never figure out ocarina of time, i just couldn't find the ocarina, then i tried majoras mask, and it deleted all my progress when the timer ran out, but i tried to do everything again and it deleted the progress again... Unable to find the ocarina, these two games didn't make sense, there was a bomber notebook minigame which was interesting, and there was a deku dungeons, but if you do the deku stuff, i was stuck in deku form till the timer ran out and it reset everything, majoras mask felt more like stanley parable but more complicated
now id love to see majora's mask ocarina - less (except for the SOT ofc as i mean... yeah, unless you can somehow figure out a skip, but a simple google search didnt show me a skip)
i had that fairy ocarina glitch happen to me a bunch of years ago while playing on the original console, but i wasnt even doing all this glitch stuff, just playing a norma gameplay. was adult link with goron tunic, just so happened to walk through there, the cutscene happened, was dumb enough to save, and lost the ocarina of time for good on that one 😅
I don't think ocarina items trick should be allowed. There is ways to glitch a light arrow, but the difficulty comes from the fact you only use it once. So you need to one cycle Ganondorf.
You did the hard dot skip There's a new method that's very easy. Can't remember what it's called. It involves standing on the podium thing in the main temple room and swinging your sword and falling off at the same time to do a glitch. Then you go to the door and do a little setup and your through. Sorry for being so vague.

19:20 A bit of a gray area there 😂 it's all in the rules, it's a legal move
im curious if you can do this challenge for Majora's Mask too, how would you get to the moon without oath to order?
i had that fairy ocarina glitch happen to me a bunch of years ago while playing on the original console, but i wasnt even doing all this glitch stuff, just playing a norma gameplay.
was adult link with goron tunic, just so happened to walk through there, the cutscene happened, was dumb enough to save, and lost the ocarina of time for good on that one 😅
I would love to see this as a catergory extenstion on the speedrunning leaderboards. All bosses/no orcania%
Great video and congrats! Is a no bombs/chus playthrough possible?
When hovering to forest temple you couldve pulled out slingshot to reset your camera to not move off screen
You are a God
Couldn't you do the cutscene skip to avoid using the ocarina while learning zeldas lullaby?
I don't think ocarina items trick should be allowed. There is ways to glitch a light arrow, but the difficulty comes from the fact you only use it once. So you need to one cycle Ganondorf.
How can you not take the fairy ocarina from Saria?
How long did this whole thing take?
Wonder if this creates a split in the timberline
Clipping through the bongo bongo door while unloaded. 😮
Not just no ocarina, but no songs either. You just turned the difficulty up to 11!
The Legend of Zelda, of Time.
Are you still on your discord server? If so hope to chat with you there
14:20 bro what lmao how do people find this shit
You did the hard dot skip
There's a new method that's very easy. Can't remember what it's called.
It involves standing on the podium thing in the main temple room and swinging your sword and falling off at the same time to do a glitch.
Then you go to the door and do a little setup and your through.
Sorry for being so vague.

Dear… sweet … lord!
Sheik wondering where Link is this whole adventure. 🎶
Doesn't the door of time only require that you get the sapphire gem from jabu jabu's belly?
No you need all three, i tried getting song of time before without kokiri enerald bht the cutscene doesnt triger
@ZeldaFan0611 okay I think I mistook it for the fact ganons bridge only requires the shadow and spirit medallions to spawn if I'm not mistaken
You should make more videos like this
39:25 ...YOU CAN CROSS THAT WITH THE LONGSHO-
ah yes! The Legend of Zelda ... of Time!😊
Awesome vid

Can't you navi dive into bottom of the well too? The cuckoo glitch seemed way more complicated 😆 😆 😆
