This works! My 200kg (440lb) motorcycle was very difficult to put on the main stand any other way, I did manage it for maintenance etc. but it was a struggle. I just went out to the garage and popped the bike on and off the stand a few times with no effort at all; then laughed at myself for not getting this sorted out sooner. I have ridden bikes for over 50 years and always pulled them up by the bars.... hard work!. The Honda was just too heavy to do this without strain. This method is ridiculously easy. Why don't they put that in every owner's handbook!... Thanks buddy!... xoxo

I found rocking the bike to get it off its centre stand a bit tricky. So, i tried doing basically the same thing as getting the bike upon the stand. But in reverse. I grab the frame under the seat with one hand, the other hand on handlebar, and sort of lift and move the bike forward. I find i have more control of the bike as it comes off the stand. :)

  • @oneluckycat

When taking a heavy bike off the stand, extend the kick stand and stand at the opposite side of the bike (right side). Tip it towards you so it's on one foot of the centre stand and roll the bike forward. It will come off the stand and you'll have close control of it (as the bike will lean on you). If you muck it up and it leans the other way, the side stand catches it. (Much safer method...learnt the hard way)

Thank you so much for the video.. I am relatively new to bikes and just bought one last week.. I was having a really hard time putting the bike on centre stand.. But after watching your video i realised i was doing it all wrong.. I was applying a lot of force in the backward direction and the bike wouldn't budge an inch.. I saw your video and immediately rushed to my bike to apply your technique.. And voila it was as smooth as butter.. Thanks a lot.. #rookieBiker

    Hello once again !
Today I tried to place my bike on the center stand using the technique mentioned in your video. To my utter surprise my 159 kg [ 351 lb appox ] bike could be placed on the center stand without applying any pressure at all. I didn't feel any weight of the bike while placing it on the stand, Placing it on the center stand was as smooth as butter unlike before.
All thanks to you ,I'm obliged to you for sharing this wonderful piece of info with all of us.
    Thanks once again !

It sounds like you may be trying to rock it back instead of pushing straight down and lifting straight up. Also, make sure both feet of the centerstand are on the ground before you start lifting. If one of the feet are off the ground will easily topple over.

As a motorcyclist of over 30 years and owning the following bikes - Honda CB100, Honda CB250, Honda CB250N, Ducati 500 Pantah, MotoGuzzi SP1000, Suzuki Burgman 650 I found them all easy ( with exception slightly with the burgman as it required a fair bit of weight on the centre stand). I now have a BMW CT650 and I find it almost impossible to get it on the centre stand by myself. It should be easy but the technique is totally different to the Burgman and I've been shown that you pull rather than lift. Can Anybody help?

DON'T STAND ON THE SIDE OF THE BIKE TO PUT IT DOWN IF YOU'RE NOT COMFORTABLE. If you can reach the ground while bringing it down, sitting on it is much easier. I dropped my bike the first time using his preferred method. Also, make sure that the bike is in gear so that it doesn't roll away from you. SPEAKING FROM EXPERIENCE!!!

1:27 one tip..... the center stand, where you place your foot...... acts as a lever
i was trying to lift the bike up (and through out my back)
    .
instead.... ya just push down on the "ball" of the center stand..... it acts as a lever.... and lifts the bike up for you (ZERO NEED TO LIFT UP!!!!)
your hands only support the bike.... they DO NOT lift or "rock" the bike

Have you tried lifting an old Suzuki GT750 Water Buffalo onto its stand. Its almost
impossible unless you weigh 200+ pounds, because the grab rail is set too far back
in relation to the foot lever on the centre stand. So, you have to rely completely on
body weigh pushing down on the stand, in order to lift this 500 pounds plus machine
off the ground. Believe me, I tried over and over, but without assistance was unable
    to do it.

Great tips! Word of caution tho: if you use the second method to get the bike off the center stand, you might consider putting the side stand up first. That way, there is no danger of the side stand crushing the top of your left foot when the bike comes off the center stand. I saw a guy break bones that way..

If I may add one more tip: when we try to get the bike off the center stand, put the bike in gear, and pull the clutch in, and right after the rear wheel touches the ground, release the clutch slowly, working as a rear brake, preventing the bike rolling forward uncontrollably, especially when the bike is heavy with stuffs.
Keep up the good work, guys.. I love your channel..

After watching this video, it's a piece of cake to get my bike on and off the center stand. I don't have a "handle"near the rear of my bike but I can use one of the rear passenger pegs as leverage. I tried rocking my FZ1 onto the center stand and couldn't do it. I knew there must be a better method lol

It wasn’t stated in the video, but having the bike in gear is recommended by some.

great advice buddy . still I forgot to put my bike in gear during removing the central stand and my bike felt . but fortunately nothing happened2bik. So it is legitimate to put it in gear during disengaging central stand 💯💯
