Since we're using lumber, I'll say you hit the nail on the head here. I have fought this GL1500 for two weeks and got it on the center stand once. I backed it up onto a 1/2" piece of plywood and BAM - up she went just like the GL1100 I used to have. Excellent video. If you're short like me (5'5"), crank the rear shock air pressure up to 50 psi or so, get a chunk of plywood, and let her rip!
Hey Chris thanks for the comments. You might want to check this one out that I did with my buddy who is 5'6". It's a little more in depth. ua-cam.com/video/65mv4_peLzI/v-deo.html
I use a rubberized outdoor tile 1/2x 12”x12” available at big box garden section. One under each tire. I have a Gold Wing and suffer with foot pain. Just one thing to extend my riding days.
I use this because I don't have concrete pad yet. So I put plywood pieces under side stand, center stand an rear tire. From side stand to center stand then up on center stand with help of pad under rear tire! If lumber & building material prizes come down, I'll complete concrete motorcycle pad, an bike enclosed!
There is a need little trick on the RT, GS and K1600 Bikes, well first take your luggages off makes the bike lighter, then if you have ESA put it in full 2 ppl full luggage mode and you will feel the bike rising up after that it's so easy to put the bike up.
Yes sir! I mentioned 2 up mode if not on this video I did mention on the main video I believe. Thanks for the tip! ua-cam.com/video/J3tTAV4n-BY/v-deo.html
Honda Gold Wing allows a "Ride-Off" center stand to replace the regular one. It is actually a cut down version of the regular one. You can also put bike in reverse and back it onto the stand.
The stock Gold Wing is a lot easier to center stand than the BMW for whatever reason. Check this one out that features both: ua-cam.com/video/65mv4_peLzI/v-deo.html
This is the second of a three part series. If you are having difficulty, I encourage you to check out the other 2. 1st video - Best Center Stand Technique - ua-cam.com/video/J3tTAV4n-BY/v-deo.html 3rd Video - Can a 5'6" Guy Center Stand His Heavy Bike - ua-cam.com/video/65mv4_peLzI/v-deo.html
I have a Honda st1300 and with full fuel tank I could put all my weight on the center stand with no hope of having it go up. I have to use my full weight and pull back on the side handle all in one strong motion. I recently serviced my rear shock and stiffened it up.... Now it's even harder to get up haha.
The setup I made was pretty rudimentary knowing I was only using it for this shoot. I suppose if I needed this type of thing for myself, I would create a board setup with a small ramp on both ends so I could drive forward onto it. I'm sure there are folks out there that can do it way better than I can. This was just for demo purposes. Ride safe!

That sounds like a great idea!
I have a 2011 Road King. What is the best brand center stand to use on my bike?

I cut a ramp out of a 40 mm Plank about 18 Inc long, with a stop did so the bike would not go off other side, made lifting easey
Sounds like a good setup!
You have a reverse gear on that ?!?
Yup! Awesome!

Good Luck. Watch all three videos. You may get something from all of them to help out...
And before I get shredded....I didn't want to use a simple wood block for this experiment. LOL
