    The package for MAGIX Intermediate is .mov instead of .mp4 from MAGIX AVC. Does that affect the quality when uploading to UA-cam at all?

    Thank you for posting this tutorial! It's exactly what I was looking for. Your explanation about the differences between these three output profiles was very informative. I've always had trouble preserving color vibrancy and proper black levels after uploading to UA-cam or Vimeo, but I had not thought of using the Magix Intermediate codec. I tried your settings and rendered various color and gray charts, and I'm seeing a nearly perfect match on Vimeo...finally! (I'm sure I'll see similar results for UA-cam.) Thank you so much for sharing this info, and please keep up the great work!

    Great tuto. Im tryin to render a 4K file with MAGIX intermediate but I can't :( It says thats something is wrong. Im working with Vegas 16.

    Good tutorial !! Sadly my ProRes videos are all black with only audio after rendering, so as much as I would have loved to use ProRes, I will have to stick to the Magix AAC/AVC MP4 I already used before. Thanks for everything !

    i tried vegas intermediate but the file size was 104 gb so i just sticked with my usual setting wich was a 400mb file but thanks anyways

    I have Vegas Pro 18, but I do not have Magix Intermediate on my version. Does anyone know why, or do I need to get another codec separately?

      They renamed it to ProRes. It's the exact same thing

    i bought vegas pro 18 only but i can.t see Magix intermediate 422 setting only apple ones there

      That's the most recent update they performed. Magix intermediate was their version of Prores but now they officially support prores and removed their versions.

    Hey brother.
    I just used your render settings and when I played it back to review.
    Great playback on PC but wouldn't playback on home blu-ray
    file type not supported.
    tried it on two DVD players. Blu-ray players.
    ohwell.

    Is Magix intermediate overkill for smartphone footage?

      Any 422 is perfectly fine for smartphone footage because most smartphone video is shot in 10bit. And even if it's not, this method produces sharper colors.

      Turns out that as of Build 482, that render option that you want is actually replaced by Apple ProRes. I think the render options under Apple ProRes are the same as Magix Intermediate. Let me know if that helped you.

      @@EthanUson Yes, I have Vegas Pro 18, Build 527, and the Apple ProRes Formats look to be exactly the same as what Josh showed in the video under MAGIX Intermediate. So it looks like one Format is an equivalent swap for the other.

    I have 1080p clips and I want to render in 1080p. And then I want to use ffmpeg a 4k upscaling program. But, I don't know how to do it with .mov I only know how to do it with .mp4. Can you help?

    I keep having som rendering issues, Ive checked the crop and the video is fully in side and all the way on the edge of the square, but on the render the video is extremely small. any issues regarding this that you know off ?

      No, you don't have to. Actually, as a matter of fact, Magix Intermediate is now replaced by Apple ProRes as of build 482. The render options are the same as Magix Intermediate. Try checking it yourself.

    Dude, following your settings the output is telling me its taking a 30 minute 12gb file and turning it into a 560GB file. I cant upload that to youtube

      The output file sizes are absolutely incorrect. Don't worry, the file will be a decent file size.

    Omg I was getting frustrated why my simple video with 1 video source was going to take so long.
    I mistook "time of completion" 2:15:52 as how long it was going take, not what time it would complete 😅.
    I wasted a hour changing my settings just to have the "time" keep increasing with each try lol.

      I want to say that the estimated file sizes are completely wrong when using MAGIX Intermediate and will always be lower than that wild estimate lol.

    Hey Josh, thanks for this! I have a weird thing going on.
    When I tried using MAGIX intermediate on a 1hr podcast video, the estimated file size ballooned to 791GB (!) and a test render is crawling along at 1fps.
    For reference, I used MAGIX AVC MP4, 29.97 fps at 4MBps and got an estimated filesize of 1GB. Any help would be appreciated.

      Sorry, filesize for the AVC MP4 1080p 29.97fps preset came out to 10GB, more or less.

    Hi Josh.
    I'm looking for the perfect setting to render in Vegas Pro.
    My PC is a Rizen 2700x - 32gb ram - Nvidia 1050TI - SSD 500gb.
    A 30 minute video takes more than 2 hours to render at 1920x1080 - 24 frames (film).
    The only effects I use are Vignette and MAGIC LOOKS for colors.
    I don't know what's wrong.

      That's pretty odd. The possibilities for that general of an error are wide. You definitely should send a crash report if you can and the VEGAS team can possibly help decipher what caused it.

      did you have any encoder issue's by any chance? I have the same issue, where I render a video with audio, but only get the audio after rendering :(

    For anyone curious, the video render size is false. It is an estimate, not correct.

      But unless the estimate is off by hundreds and hundreds of gigs (mine is generally off by only 20%), the size is still a problem.

      Is because you put it to intermediate 22 HQ on Profile, Put it to just Intermediate 22 or lower for 60 fps and plus there's no differences on quality and you'll save a lot of GB of your memory!

      I think you could use HEVC
      (with NVENC) then use VBR 6000 minimum bit rate and 9000 maximum. It should lower the file size.

    yeah i dont think thats the best youtube render setting...I have a 1 Minute 4K Video ...after using your intermediate settings the estimated file size is 50gb...i dont even want to talk about the estimated render time haha ... no but seriously didnt youtube like have specific ranges of recommended MBits per second and so on ? I think it was 45 Mbs for 4k video so why are you picking these huge numbers ?

      As of VEGAS Pro 19's latest update, they've renamed it to ProRes. It's the exact same thing with a different name.
