Heck with taking notes. I just added it to my UA-cam playlist so I can review/rewatch when I’m doing my editing. I have separate playlists for Davinci Resolve, Storytelling, Shorts, etc…. Whenever I come across content that is gold like this one I save it to the appropriate playlist so I have it at my fingertips for future reference. 👍🏻
Actually the only “tutorial” worth watching, not only do u tell us how to use something, u say when, and give examples in the video, and now I understand editing

I stumbled randomly on your channel and have to say you are very, very good at editing, explaining, and overall video directing. You have a bright future ahead of you, i wouldnt be surprised seeing your name as a director in a big movie studio in some years ... if you arent making a studio yourself. Very impressed, congrats.
This is the ULTIMATE VIDEO EDITING CRASH COURSE for Aspiring Video Editors. I have never seen such powerful video editing tutorial in the whole UA-cam Community. Thank you Leo for providing this for FREE ❤
Man as a professional who worked on television, A/V agencies and at communications department in the industry I gotta say: You resumed every skill and editing technique that the broadcasting industry uses for both visual and sound appeal. It took me a lot of years and an insane amount of editing time to learn those things organically. There is a huge amount of valuable information in your content, and that impressed me. For me, the glowing highlights, animation on static things and sound design on both SFX and music are the most attention hooking things and I put a lot of effort on sound and cut timming while editing. Amazing video bro!
These tips are gold! They are subtle yet incredibly effective and will undoubtedly elevate engagement to the next level. You're a legend for providing this. Thank you so much for sharing!
Great video! You mentioned almost everything I wanted to hear in this video. A few more tips that came to my mind: 1. If you use the same sound effect multiple times in quick succession, give each one of them a slightly different pitch. Makes it sound much more natural since no real sound is ever exactly the same. 2. When you want to switch between two shots where the focus is very far apart, you can use transitions to more smoothly guide the viewers attention from one point to the other. 3. Music Stems (14:04) are extremely useful and I just want to highlight it a bit more. Take the drums out and it'll sound more relaxed. Take the melody out and it'll sound more focused. Mixing and matching the stems can allow you to create multiple emotions with the same song and allow you to transition between songs much easier. Just to give you some examples. 4. The intro is where you need to show the "unique value" your video provides. Put 10 times more effort into the intro to prove to the viewer that the video is worth their time. What that unique value is depends on your content. For filmmakers that could be an amazing shot. For gamers that could be clips which showcase high-skill gameplay. 5. Avoid clear patterns and add variety. If your editing is predictable it's less interesting. If you're editing is fast-paced for a bit, maybe add a slower section. Use multiple music genres and explore different emotions. Watching a 10 minute video that has the same style of editing throughout can be hard to watch. By changing it up, you re-stimulate the viewer and can tell a good story much more easily.
Thank you for sharing this, it will help a lot. People often forget that being a UA-camr is like running a business. You give people what they want, and they reward you with their attention, resulting in income. I agree 100% that music and sound effects is VERY important. Sometimes I spend hours searching for the perfect music !!! Glad to have found your channel 😀
As an editor who's been going for over 4 years now you absolutely blew my mind with some of these tips. I used to use epidemic sound until I thought it was unnecessary, now I want to subscribe again because I realize just how useful and vast their sound/music library actually is. I often feel overstimulated by super fast talking with no pauses in between. Especially in a "how to" video. I tune out and jump off that video fast. I see that advice given everywhere. Similarly I see one size fits all advice on adding music. I truly think knowing who we are and who our viewers are/what they come for is HUGE! I see myself as an over-explainer. The actual editing of this video was just as, if not more explanatory than the actual words you used, so great job on that. Personally, my editing starts before I even open up the editing software. While scripting a video, I will visualize and write down what kind of editing I want, from what graphics should be on screen to how they transition in to the sound effects used, and more. For the style of video I make/want to make, I find this is really useful for solidifying how I want to convey things to the viewer and piecing the elements together mentally. Never underestimate planning!

As a seasoned editor the last 10+ years, watching this video really helped me revisit and re-ignite certain aspects of my editing I lost sight of going through the motions for so long in my career; it jumps me awake and makes me think again in 2024 for fresh style and technique. You also hit tons of important editing 101 stuff - good job. Thanks for making this.
What sucks is that a lot of cool editing tools cost money. I can't afford to pay 16 over hear 36 over there and 40 overhear. Im a mother with a part-time job now after being laid off recently for over a month 😢that time, I used up a lot of savings i had. So it's hard because others pay for views and engagement. Others have access to all these great tools and can afford it. Im way behind, unfortunately. But with a lot of hope and a message I want to share about addiction and recovery, I will push forward. Good luck to all my fellow small channels!❤ We will get to where we want to be!

This was by the most impressive piece of educational content I've ever seen. It wasn't a UA-camr trying to give me the wow factor and draw me in with their over ambitious attitude, but solid advice with a clear explanation. Seriously well done, I'll be back to watch this a few more times.
I wish I had this video back when I was starting. I was so mad because I had great content but wasn't getting any attention, any views. I felt like getting to 1000 subs was mission impossible. But after some time, I was lucky when I found out I could give my channel initial dose of subs, just enough to start getting noticed more and more. I got myself a first couple hundred subs very fast (I have personally used a bit of Famester), and after that my main channel gained a ton of organic traffic day after day.
Watching this video feels like standing at Everest's base camp-it's a reminder of just how much there is to learn and master to create truly great content. I will learn piece by piece... maybe in a few years, things will change drastically. I am committed to this process
As a filmmaker, what is important is also knowing where not to introduce noise or not to cut, but even if there is silence or only certain noise that stands out at the expense of others, there should be a reason for that.
Buddy, what you share is gold. Thank you. A little advice: don't exchange your valuable time to money with the calls. Build course, it's a one time investment. Then sell it to everyone who needs it. Or build a Skool group. You have what millions of people want to learn. With such attention dragging (promoting ) skills, you literally have the potential to become multi millionaire in less than a year.
I thought this was going to be generic advice, but it turned out to be some of the best insights I've ever heard! Truly eye-opening and inspiring, Thank you very much.

For the style of video I make/want to make, I find this is really useful for solidifying how I want to convey things to the viewer and piecing the elements together mentally. Never underestimate planning!
Exactly. Ive been watching youtube for 10+ years. The thing you are saying it the most important thing. No editing, no jokes, no attractive voice. Just the content.
I clicked the video and watched it until the end without skipping a beat. I dont need or have something to use the advice for, but somehow it still hooked me. God damn wizard.
This guy is underrated he deserves 1 million subscribers I mean look at him his editing style is impressive, and excellent that he keeps me engage in long periods of time
The Only Person who Gave me the Actual Knowledge of Sound Design which actually lacks in my video. Thank You Very Much!!!
I've been subscribed to you since around 5K, glad to see you grow.
this video is the exact opposite of clickbate. i was so focused in this video i didnt realise that already 14 minutes had passed by. thank you and keep making great content 💪
Dude this video is pure gold, tbh the amount of GREAT advices there is in it is insane, I could litteraly pay for it
0:33 that ranking edit was lit
Your few videos that you made for this channel are extremely OP, on top of you having past experiences and success with your Terraria content
Get a load of this guy! You’re killing it my dude 💯!!! Keep up the hard work 🙏🏼🙏🏼
bro! this kid is bad ass! Great advice. So impressive from someone at your age. You are going to get big on youtube for sure. Keep up the great work!
This is quite literally the most immersive and educational editing video
Instructions unclear: 57 of my viewers overdosed on my videos and i am being investigated by the authorities

Nah

did you mean 156 thousand viewers

jesus christ dude. I thought I had seen every worthwhile "how to edit" video on the internet. But honest to god, this the most informative video I've ever seen, and I wish I would've found it sooner lol. Would've saved me a lot of heartache
You're truly goated already after just 4 uploads... that's next level man keep it up
As a seasoned editor the last 10+ years, watching this video really helped me revisit and re-ignite certain aspects of my editing I lost sight of going through the motions for so long in my career; it jumps me awake and makes me think again in 2024 for fresh style and technique.
Good luck to all my fellow small channels!❤ We will get to where we want to be!
my guy is the editing genius
What i have learned so far is that editing mostly doesn't make your videos entertaining, THE SCRIPT DOES,
A Good Script + Decent Editing IS A MASTERPIECE
He gets it
@@LearnByLeo Thanks im still a begginer,
but this comment gives me motivation to improve
this!!! all the fancy edits don't mean 5H1T if your script and storytelling sucks.
@LearnByLeo Dude the title of the video stated you would show us how you EDIT which software and do a video tutorial for us but nope you're talking outside the BOOK, i don't need to understand the DEFINITION of Editing or Authenticity, what audience or Mrbeast CUTS 90 seconds or 2 seconds CUTS, bro please SHOW us a god damn tutorial which software do you use Adobe premiere pro or Capcut ... Then show us how you do it grab any 2 minutes or 5minutes video and TEACH us that..... Oh BTW i hit Dislike button since you CLICK BAITED us
hope i get a reply ~~ LMAO
@@officialyashvirgaming I think you're genuinely severally "differently intelligent"
Legit one of the best videos about editing on UA-cam. Great vid man
It's unreal how much free value you're giving here really, appreciate that a lot man, this really is a hidden gem
The editing in the video itself teach what you just explained what a gold mine. Thank you very much!
its cool to see you use your own tips! it helps a ton to implement them!
i really need to get better at my editing so ty for this video!
0-0 its u
Solid gold info, I will continue to use your tips on my UA-cam journey! Thank you for this!!
This was by the most impressive piece of educational content I've ever seen. It wasn't a UA-camr trying to give me the wow factor and draw me in with their over ambitious attitude, but solid advice with a clear explanation.
Seriously well done, I'll be back to watch this a few more times.
Dude just downloaded your soundFxs, you're going above and beyond sharing this all! Double Thumbs up!
61 subs
Ok famester bot. Next try
@@Paiwhz its probably in another channel

Watching this video feels like standing at Everest's base camp-it's a reminder of just how much there is to learn and master to create truly great content. I will learn piece by piece... maybe in a few years, things will change drastically. I am committed to this process
As a filmmaker, what is important is also knowing where not to introduce noise or not to cut, but even if there is silence or only certain noise that stands out at the expense of others, there should be a reason for that.
Super valuable information presented in an engaging way. Great vid!
Your editing is so good. I'm starting in my youtube journey and editing is one of my biggest flaws. Your tips are gold!
God Bless you, brother!
Good luck!
@@Can-99.9 Thanks, my friend.
Dude! I gotta say I'm impressed. I don't know how old you are but I don't see many guys in your age group that do videos this impressive. I've been doing video for years and I definitely feel like I could learn a lot from you. Thank you for this video. I genuinely see so many good tips here.
Bro I discovered this video only today and that's a cinematic masterpiece with tons of advices.. You're my idol from now on.
absolutely amazing. I am adhd as fuck so I never sit through a whole video but this was amazing. and im going to start doing IRL vlogs etc so I needed some help lol

The only video, that while watching I was least interested in the ads in between and wanted to skip as soon as the timer ended. GREAT JOB!
Wow ive watched well known editors give their version of this video but this was in a league of its own. The video itself is beautiful and the knowledge shared is top tier

What software you use to edit😒!!!
Looks like premiere but the software choice isn't the point of the video. You can do these things with any good editor or your choice.

How come all the “how to be amazing at UA-cam” creators have the smallest channels???
Because people watch them once and dont subscribe
@@ArticulatPanda you have to have compelling and engaging content to earn my subscription. These donuts just recycle the same nonsense from one another. If they were so great at building a channel, they’d be bigger themselves.
