ASMR is absolutely the best tool to learn / memorize things! Only relaxed mind is curious and absorbs facts easily! I've noticed how I learn new English words (it's not my native language) just by watching / listening ASMR videos. And that happens without any effort.
    Pure magic!

You may want to fact check some of the facts on this before you start absorbing them. I like this guy's videos and he makes everything sound interesting but some of those facts are off. For instance, a million seconds is only a little over 11 days, not 20 to 30 years ago. A billion seconds is actually 31.71 years. I'm sure most of what he says is true but there are a few things he isn't quite correct on. But all of the facts don't have to be correct for it to make it good ASMR and he's definitely good at that.

1:17:49 - The scale of technological advancement over the past century is incomprehensible. It is no wonder there are such severe generational conflicts in America right now. And it's still accelerating; it won't be long before there are worldview conflicts between people born years apart rather than decades apart. As a front-line Millennial (I was born in 1982), I already see some of that; people 5 years older than me and younger than me struggle to relate to me, and struggle even more to relate to each other. It is predicted that Millennials will experience the equivalent of _20,000 years_ of pre-industrial technological advancement in our lifetimes.

I’ve been studying doing research in astrophysics for years now and this video was still beautiful to watch. The biggest thing in this field is that people may know all the math and complex physics, but being able to conceptualize and imagine what’s happening is a whole different game - and in later years is a concept that is completely lost by many. I can honestly say this helped how I visualize some basic concepts and I really liked how you were able to blow my mind still with the thought about how much kight is really emitted by a star by the fact a certain amount escapes and that’s what we see of other galaxies. So many videos just try to blow your mind with the same flashy concepts of physical scale, time, black holes (which are all impressive and still hold new surprises, but are just scratching the surface of the immensity of nature). So this was a really nice insight into some of the simple, but more subtle beauties of nature. Great job and I hope to see more astronomy astr vids like this!

thanks ethan that means alot. i always feel like mainstream shows don't give the audience enough credit to explain topics with more math and logic. they always spoon feed it and i aim to inspire viewers to look at these common topics with a deeper eye in the way Feynman does in his explanations. so thanks again. it's an honor to get feedback like that from a far more knowledgable person in the field than myself.

The channel I've been searching for!!!
Such an in depth perspective on scale in general!
If one begins to feel small when thinking about astronomical scales, all that is needed is to remember how many atoms are in one's fingernail and the distances between the nuclei.
A human is literally a universe to the atom.
I can totally relate with your feelings of awe. To me it feels like it's beyond a particular threshold of perspective.
The vastness of the universe with the earth floating around within it somewhere seems like a situation beyond mere words . How can this situation exist?
How is it that we can be in this situation and be aware of it?
Is there a foundational principal that enables a mind to develop that can grasp the situation?
If a bacterium could comprehend the planet, could it then find the existence of the galaxy?
Even by this scale comparison, we are many magnitudes of order beyond that in terms of distance/comprehension.
"Those microscopic little humans are looking right at us! How did they do it!?!"

    • @we-must-live
      @we-must-live 11 місяців тому

heh, I like the way you think!
my favourite part of this whole… everything dynamic, is how all things seem to follow the same general rules… the confusing components of protons, neutrons and electrons are clumped into atoms, joined into molecules, typically with a whole buncha matter condensed in one spot (i.e. a hooman vs surrounding air)
then planets, moons and other objects are in solar systems, relatively condensed into galaxies, then superclusters and, yet again, the condensed matter of astronomic objects contrasts against… whatever is in between em (be it dark matter, dark energy, or just very very very cold nothingness!)
it’s… sobering, to think about. even humans follow the same dynamic!
