"The hardest working man in show business..."
BOOM!
I immediately think of the Cosby Show when I hear this song.
Michael Jackson was his protégé, back when the Jackson 5 toured with him.
Prince modeled his look, stage presence, and music off of him.
Hip hop samples him so much, he took folks to court for royalties.
You're looking at one of the original game changers, lads.
And James Brown stated he was heavily influenced by Mr. Excitement... Jackie Wilson.
Facts!!!.
MJ loved James Brown, you can see what an influence he had on MJ's dancing.
Yeah, along with Jackie Wilson!!
When Mj gave James Brown the award at the Bet awards back in 05 it was fire!
@@mzroyality235 And Sammy Davis Jr.
Love love ….James Brown … Owwww!
Yes one of the early recordings of MJ before being signed with Motown was when he was 9 singing this very song. He loved James Brown and was able to dance with his idol many years later. ua-cam.com/video/Ux3joe0GdTA/v-deo.html
Props to Chadwick Boseman (RIP) for learning all those dance for the biopic Get On Up.
Cold Sweat!
Jesus Christ almighty loves you no matter what
James Brown is the “Godfather Of Soul” he had so much energy 🔥🔥
No one can ever take that title away from him.this is music and talent that you young people just dont have enough of these days
Still can't believe I got 2c him live! So much A+++
@@mehere9 that's fantastic. Right place and time
James Brown is the most sampled artist by hip hop artist all time bar none. He has been sampled 6889 times.
No James, no music.
@@sk-wj4lx Right!
Holy Crap!
Maybe more than that 🤔
Clyde stubblefield, his drummer is who got sampled. Clyde died penniless.
GOAT who influenced generations to come....he was just doin his thing!!!...natural
I grew up in his hometown and he always gave out turkeys and toys to the families and children. Unfortunately I didn’t get to meet him but his children still continue the tradition.
SUPREMELY respectfully I say this: I know his children range from post menopausal to drivers permit!
@@chancebrown106 Not sure how that applies to what I stated but yea.
James brown is my first cousin that man was no joke
@@keeppressing1760 I heard that. Never got to me him but my grandfather knew him.
In Augusta?
James Brown CREATED being cool 😎 damn that man can sing.
Michael Jackson loved the sh*t out of that leg dance. He always incorporated it in his performances.
Janes Brown is a legend. Lots of artist sampled his dance moves, but there was only one James Brown.
The Godfather of soul! Enough said.
Instructions from the man himself! 😂ua-cam.com/video/Zdz88MBWomo/v-deo.html
Remember when this song had a popular resurgence after being featured in an episode of the Cosby show when the kids danced to this song for their grandparents anniversary? Classic moment
Theo wore that Thang OUT!!!!!!
He is called the God father of soul . His music has been sampled by so many artists. Back in the day he had so many hit records. You gotta listen to cold sweat, this is a man's world, say it loud I'm black and proud, the big pay back, funky president and get on the good foot.
Glad you cats got to SEE James Brown in his heyday when he sang, howled, danced, moved & EXCITED like no other!
Many have mentioned your homeboy, MJ in these comments. The Jackson family drove in a station wagon from Gary to Detroit in July 1968 to audition at Motown. They performed this James Brown song and the audition was video recorded and can be found on UA-cam. Michael was 9 years old.
MJ was so touched & moved to honor James Brown he dropped tears. I almost cried myself. Prince was in awe also. It was great 🤴🏿
James was soooooo smooth...I remember sneaking out with my cousins and sisters to see him when I was young...Early 70's....Way back when......I never screamed so much at one person performing in my life!!!! Got in so much trouble when I got home. OMG!!! It was worth it. Those were the days!
U mean when it was 99 cent to get in and every place he left, especially on the East Coast, they rioted to the point, they started banning him?!! I got the feelin' U were more than right..
Hardest working Man in Show business!! We ALL screamed, trying to get out b4 the riots bc they felt they didn't get their 99 cents worth!!!🙈😲😠👊🤭🤣😉
This man was a strict bandleader. Musicians paid fines for lateness, not being on point musically. He ran his band like a true business. In a time when black musicians were not being played on the radio, he brought radio stations. He had his hand in everything.
Yes the good foot, my fav and papa don’t take no mess.
You can tell this man created the blueprints that everyone “researched” for their works. I hope he knew how much of a game changer he was.
💯
Keith said any man from South Carolina is a GOAT!!! Keith said to see him in concert was Wild at the end of his concert he would kneel down and someone would put a cape over him. Then all of sudden James Brown came out of the cape dancing!!! Thanks Tim and Fred. Joan and Keith Bates
The kneeling and cape scene is when he sang the song"Please, Please"
I can see Prince got a lot of his dance moves from James. Christina Aguilera’s version of it’s a man’s world is fire! You should check it out.
James Brown is the Godfather of Soul
Michael Jackson loves James Brown one of his influences for his dancing.
One of my favorite James Brown songs is "Get Up Offa That Thing".
Especially with those HORNS..Best ones in history. From Maceo, Fred, Robert..oh Yeah!!! Thanks for That memory..🤭😘
He was an inspiration to rock and roll musicians and dancers, most of whom are listed below. Incredible talent. Remember, he could not stay in motels in most of the places he performed until later in his career when Frank Sinatra and others started demanding equal treatment for all of the (black) pioneers of modern American music.
💕🙏
There's a video of MJ performing this song as a little kid. I think it's when they were auditioning for Barry Gordy..
Janes Brown singing I'm Black and I'm Proud..is awesome
Hey Twins! Ya'll better recognize! Every man wanted to be James Brown, every woman wanted to be with James Brown!😂He was known as "The hardest working man in show business!"
While you're at it, react to "This Is A Man's World." Awesome, beautiful, lyrics. Thanks Twins!
Known as the Godfather of Soul!!
GOAT! Godfather of SOUL!!
I'm sure someone's already recommended this, but Get Up Offa That Thing is another James Brown great (aside from the obvious I Feel Good).
I love it when you guys do Motown and funk. Two of my favorite genres. :)
Just pure raw funk!!! Nobody could do it better!!! Rest in peace Mr. Brown.
This was the man and King of Soul. He would put on an awesome performance all the time. His music was powerful and always had a message for his race and the world.
He was the GODFATHER of Soul straight Up!!! "Mr. Dynamite, Mr. Please Please Please, Himself..the hardest working Man in show business..."👍😀🌹
Any song by James Brown is fantastic! In the movie “Get on Up”, the now deceased actor, Chadwick Boseman portrayed James Brown. I am definitely going to watch that movie!
Baby, baby, baby. Yes!! Godfather of Soul ♨️♨️
You guys done barked on and ICON right here James Brown was the man in his time.
James Brown is a legend! You got a lot of songs that are great !!
I watched a documentary about James brown and one of James’ musicians told a story of how James would have them play a certain note when he hit a certain dance move. They wouldn’t know what move he was gonna do, or when he was gonna do it, if he even did do it. He said they had to have their eyes on him at all times during his live performaces to ensure they hit the correct note, on top of having complete focus on the notes required for the song that was playing. This level of genius and pure skill from James Brown and his musicians is why I will never ever accept mediocre artistry and is why James Brown will always be the ultimate ultimate Goat.
He earned titles including:
Godfather Of Soul,
Soul Brother No1,
Hardest Working Man In Show Business
Mr Dynamite
and he created the genre funk with his song Papas Got A Brand New Bag and he is the most sampled artist of all time with 8291 samples. James Brown is absolutely nothing to be played with and he did this during a time when all the odds were stacked against him and people were not doing these kind of things. The words genius and goat are thrown around a lot but he undeniably embodies both definitions 🙌🏾
Very true and he would do a certain scream or spin to let them know when to change songs
Tim! Fred! 💯✊
MJ sang this as an audition for Motown with his brothers. Brother James Brown has been an influence for years
If you have not heard of Jr walker and the All-stars. What does it take. You should give it a listen.
🎶Shotgun shoot why they run 🎶
B. B. King was one of my all-time favorites & the best concert I ever attended, 2nd row center! My favorite of his songs is "The Thrill is Gone."
Saw James Brown live in the 70s. He had a great show that lasted hours. Super energy.
I always think of MJ and the Cosby show when I hear this 😍
You gotta check out James Brown, "Funky Good Time." Its a banger for sure! I went to a college party in the 90's yes the 90's and they played it and the whole party went crazy!
The Brother was a MUSICAL GENIUS
Aside from the music, his foot work is just astounding. James could move like no other.
Payback by James Brown is good too 👍 BANGER ✌️😊❤️
Imagine I saw him live in Kristianstad, Sweden with a full band with two drummers and backround dancers in a school gymnatics hall in the 90's. Like a dream but true!!
I am a big fan James Brown. Love!! his music.
I remember Dancing in the living room with family and my dad would throw out his and Chuck Berry's moves. ☺️ Great memories. ☺️❤️
Thank you.
🤎Maddy
He came to Boston for a concert after MLK was assassinated and there was rioting in many of the big cities. It almost cancelled but the city wanted him to come and try to calm things down and it worked! Who else but JB could do that? GOAT/LEGEND
🏆👏💖
When I lived in Seattle, I ran into him downtown. Talk about random! I thought he was a guy that lived near me and had completely adopted his look so I enthusiastically greeted him using my neighbor's name. He stopped, looked me up and down (mostly up cause he was short) and said, "Sister, my name Is James Brown. The REAL James Brown." Turns out he was in town playing a show, but I was too embarrassed to do anything other than tell him how much his music meant to me.
My daily dose of the twins. After a long grueling day, that is a pleasure. Bvery funny/-they probably never saw anything like the James Briwn show. 😂 !
James Brown is a cultural ICON... he is the tutor for Michael Jackson and Prince!
One of THE BEST to ever do it! SO MANY singer, dancers and rappers have tried to emulate or bite his style. JB was WAY ahead of his time!
They could imitate, but NEVER Duplicate tht boy's style. Though he was crazy, he went crazy on tht stage, for Real!!!🌹👍😀😘
Great song
King of Soul.....period 🥰
It was a privilege to see James Brown,BB King at the Beverly theater had two surprise guests in the audience invited up on stage, Michael Jackson and Prince. Great night of music
When the Jackson Five auditioned for Motown, Michael as lead sung this song. He loved James Brown as a kid not knowing that one day he would appear on stage with him.
The GOAT
i’m subbing because y’all listen to all kinds of music and are very aware and respectful of how they are different so 🤝😎
I’ve watched all your videos And I just love your reactions. Please comment on Say it Loud I’m Black And I’m Proud. In my humble opinion the most significant song by James Brown and that’s saying a lot considering how great he was. I’m not black but brown but I embraced that song to my soul from the moment I heard it.
Love that you’re representing the Stones!
Dancing and singing like that at the same time WOW
This is why James Brown is the God Father of Soul, so many entertainers like MJ, Prince, even Usher have taken something Golden from this outstanding performer. I hope is he resting in peace considering all the turmoil that was surrounding his death, he deserves to rest easy cause he made more than his mark in the world. Love you guys!!!
CANADA loves you. FRED your hair perfect.
My dad & uncle got to see James Brown and the Fabulous Flames live back in the 1960s at the great Uptown Theater in Philadelphia. My uncle told me that back then at the Uptown, there were 2 shows a day. One for the younger people and a evening show for the adults. They went to both shows that day. Stevie Wonder was on the bill with James Brown. He did his cape thang too. I have a few favorites of his like It's a Man's World, Say It Loud (I'm Black and I'm Proud), and one of my favorite Christmas songs ever, Santa Claus Go Straight to the Ghetto.
Now this IS a BANGER for real!
ya'll gotta do "papa's got a brand new bag" by james brown... you'll love it... so funky
I don’t know ANYONE who doesn’t like James Brown! 😎🕺😀🤩
Godfather of soul baby!!
Godfather of Soul!
The GODFATHER !!! Very influential not only in music but also humanitarianism. Prince, Michael Jackson, Bootsy Collins and every rapper possibly known to man, borrowed from him. Loved this reaction and you showing a true appreciation for one of the best to ever do it !!! Up next, Sammy Davis Jr.
I love James Brown!!
James Brown was truly The Godfather of Soul and was such an original artist. Many many performers were influenced by him both in the R & B, Rock and Hip Hop genres.
Amazing! James Brown still can get the young people moving. James foot work is just prestige and the voice forget about it.
This is the song that the Jackson 5 performed on their audition for Motown. A young Michael Jackson was hitting the moves like James Brown. Michael learned his dance moves from James Brown, Jackie Wilson and Joe Tex. It’s a video on UA-cam of their Motown audition.
Finally someone knows who Joe Tex is. They had a rivalry back in the day
He always gave you a hundred percent!
I love JB💕 My grandma couldn’t stand him she said all he does is holler🤣🤣🤣
My fav James Brown song
Excellent JB!! Check out the equally funky “Cold Sweat,” “Night Train,” 60s hit “Papa’s Got a Brand New Bag,” to name a few.
Michael Jackson and Prince loved some James Brown…had his dance moves down🎶
He's the original mike dropper. He drops the entire mike stand.
When I was a kid knew every dance step!
I first heard this song on the Cosby Show.
Y’all gotta watch the doc The Night James Brown Saved Boston. He was a hero
I need y’all to react to some Run the Jewels!! Killer Mike is a legend on his own tbh. Hey Kids is one of my favorites if you want a starting point for them.
Doing it to Death (both parts), Get on the Good Foot, The Big Payback, I Don't Want Nobody to Give Me Nothing (Open Up the Door, I'll Get it Myself), and Pass the Peas! They didn't call him the Hardest Working Man in Show Business for nothing! Got to love the Godfather of Soul!
Y’all 2 are hilarious! Keep up the Great Work!!!!
James ! No Words
Legend That's History
