You worked with James Brown? I bet you have horror stories. You worked with him in the early 90's? Yikes! Here on youtube, please enter The prophet of funk music video............I just want to do my part!
I did light and sound for him locally and in Atlanta. I have stories but nothing of horror. Mostly what you would hear from the media in Augusta was drummed up to make more of it than what it was. I can tell you once you met the man you were more of in respect of the man instead of in awe of a legend. He was a great man but he had his vices and I had mine so it's not for me to judge. Thanks for your interest.
I knew some of the Band members. Sheila wheat, and Spike who did percussion.I use to live in Atlanta. I'm doing a documentary about my life there in the 1980's and 90's. I was there before Hip/Hop/Dirty South/Dumb Down Culture destroyed it. My time was RuPaul,Kenny Leon,14th playhouse,Rob cleveland,Jeff Foxworthy,Bill Nunn (Radio Raheim),The Punchline Sandy Springs,J Anthony Brown. Oh my God,so many more! I came up in showbizz',I am 54,I was a child in the late 60's and early 70's,I was backstage at the Apollo, and I remember seeing the evolution of James Brown as a person, not only as a Funk Master, but just a person. He was what he was,in the 1970's, James was kinda cool. Around 1987 and on,The Godfather was slowly becoming a Nutcase, and had a hard time with the English Language, while thinking he was highly intelligent at the same time. The musicians I knew at the time,in that band,in the 90's,really hated to be there, half of them were broke on the road. When I saw them Guys in Vegas in 1996,that was a deep time, they were very unhappy. Is there a James Brown Review on the road now? It should be. When time permits, here on youtube, enter The Prophet of funk music video.........My story is about to begin. We might know the same people, I am a true to form Funk Prophet, look foward to meeting you,see you at the show!!
If it's any help I'm a "Grady Baby" myself, but I grew up in Augusta and the surrounding area. Tony Howard, who was considered Mr. Brown's protege would have more insight in the early 90's action. I too am a child of the 60's 1965 to be exact.
Michael and Prince absolutely got their moves from James. They admired and respected James. He was a dancing machine, brilliant. I saw him in person in 70 it was electrifying!
Somebody needs to break down the metaphysics of this genius!!!!! There never existed anyone like this man, James Brown came to show us how to live in the NOW!!!! Which is key to self-mastery on this earth, all of his setbacks were setups for a come up, love this man!!!!

I grew up listening to James and had the chance to work for him in the early 90's. I experienced all this while living in Augusta.
Cool...........Is Tony still around?
Brutal in every sense - love it!

Simply the greatest singer, dancer & entertainer ...!!!
I don't think anyone can even come close to doing a double split, with such fluidity. James Brown is amazing!!!
:01 tell me that's not a young time-traveling Deion Sanders!
I've been watching these clips for years and I thought that the first time I saw that picture up to right now...

What can you even say other than dude had it all and then some.
