The Jackson 5 auditioned for Motown founder Berry Gordy in 1968 with a filmed performance of "I Got the Feelin'" with Michael Jackson at age 10 closely mimicking James Brown's vocal style and dance moves.

Oh yhea I got the FEELING BABY
James Brown perform many times at the Apollo Theater.
yesss, I got the feeling
This is the song that turned me on to James Brown when I was 1o years old back in circa 1967..
Then o kept experiencing more and more gems that he was putting out and at the same time I started hear I g older songs which were like ancient treasure gems to me. So I dig many acts singers musical groups etc...however J.B. No doubt No# 1 in my Personal rock in roll and soul book.
I just saw Get On Up and Chadwick had it right on the money! I love this movie. Don't believe the reviews. If your a true JB fan you will love this movie. Go See it!! I almost got up and started dancing. Jump Back and Kiss Myself!
Very True!!! Get On Up is a GREAT FILM!!! It isn't perfect but it really depicts J. Brown in all lights... the good, the bad and the down right ugly. He was a complex man but a musical genius. The movie did leave some things out I felt they should of put in but JB lived such a full life I'm sure it was hard to include everything. I wish they would of shown more of the drug use, because it played a major role in his later years. But you're right don't believe the negative reviews. It's an awesome journey!!! Boseman didn't even know how to dance prior to the film, mind you. Chadwick Boseman deserves an Oscar for his performace!!!
+MakeufamousNDZ My only issue with was that it leaves out James' 1970's period... No Goodfoot, Payback, Hot Pants, Papa Don't Take No Mess, etc...
uplift7 Hiiiiiiiiiiaaaaaaaaahhhh!
Rip Chadwick
Good GOD!!!!!
King James BLACKMAN brown
untouched!!!
A spectacular performance. I had the chance once to tell him how much I loved his music.

The baddest dude ever
untouched!!!
Michael Jackson admired this man abs he started singing this too for Berry Gordy
Black music is the basis of all pop, soul, country, house, jazz, any genre you can think of.
Sorry to be sarcastic, but white ppl didn't have music in Europe? Like, they had nothing til Black ppl came along? 🧐
Crazy guy. Check out his duet with Luciano Pavarotti singing It's a Man's World.
That band was tight! Wow that Catfish on guitar!
That's Jimmy Nolan on guitar. This was recorded in 68', Catfish & Bootsy didn't join until 70'.
This is the 60s Catfish and Bootsy didn't join till 1970. This late 60s band is his most influential and tight band.
TOMORROW WOULD OF BEEN JAMES BROWN 84TH BIRTHDAY
1:15 - "...yeah Good God...wait a minute...can't stand myself here...huh!...wait a minute...witcho bad self..wait a minute!..." - THESE ARE THE PHRASES THAT ANYONE IMPERSONATING JB TRIED TO COPY AND HE JUST WHIPS THEM OFF RAPID FIRE!!!
Got the feeling that he was the best on the good foot while using the sex machine and screaming, please please please.
Now this is the best song of all time, James Brown.
untouched!!!
From 1:14 to 1:21
That is every James Brown utterance that comedians and people impersonating James Brown have ever used.
Those couple of minutes epitomize "James Brown Speak".
And they cover a multitude of funk sins!
This man was wicked.
Those few minutes say everything that need to be said;
"....yeah....good GOD...wait a minute...can't stand myself here...uh!...wait a minute...witcho bad self..."
And then at 1:30 he asks/tells them, "...is you ready? Is you ready? IF YOU AIN'T READY I'M GOING FOR MYSELF!...Come on nah!..."
What a fucking call to arms!!!!
LONG LIVE KING JAMES!!!
*"IS YOU READY??*
*IF YOU AINT READY IM GOIN FOR *MYSELF "*
1:31
I love it xD
One of the great entertainers of all time! Youngsters, take a look how it's done.
Tom A , one of? hell no, he is the.
Janelle Monae was undoubted watching and taking notes.
@@namakudamono Michael Jackson had mastered JBs technique at the age of 10!
@@briansanchez2322 right I’m saying that’s the real star
Lol these stupid kids today don't know what real music is with their "Techno" crap and so called R n B hip hop garbage, half of it it's machines not even musicians. I'm a drummer and hate any music with drum machines.
I like his dance.
I love James brown

I wouldn't be surprised if my mom was at this show
50 people don't have the feelin!
GodDAMMIT I hate now-archival footage being ruined by some cameraman's or editor's trying to get into the act, being "creative". Superimposing image on image, choppy editing, too far away, too close (here's his feet! here's his head!)...if you can't just hold it on the man so we can see what he's doing then put the camera on a tripod and step away. Fuckin' pain in the ass.
Otherwise, I'm fine. How have you been?
That's how you work and entertain an audience now a days they all want to go on Xfactor and become overnight stars
I first heard Sly in 1968, I wondered who this J. Brown was that penned some of his songs, so I checked him out too. Keep it on the good foot, brother!

At 1:13 - "....yeah good god....wait a minute....can't stand myself here... uh! ..wait a minute..witcho bad self..."
The blue print/template/lyrical basis for James Brown lyrics throughout the seventies.
He did every comedians impersonation of him. But he was dead ass serious.
LONG LIVE KING JAMES!
