Very helpful video! Here's a trick that I recently discovered games that don't look great at 16:9. For example Need for Speed: High Stakes unloads the course at the edges of the screen. So I set the custom aspect ratio to 14:9, but leave my aspect ratio setting at 16:9. Long press the game, tap "game properties", and change the aspect ratio to custom. Obviously, it doesn't quite fill the screen, but it looks perfect.
Check the patch codes in Duckstation. Some games have a dedicated 16:9 patch there that improves things significantly. I know the Spyro Trilogy and Megaman Legends 1 and 2 have patches that make 16:9 run almost perfectly with minimal unloading.
Medal of Honor and Medal of Honor Underground already had at that time 4 controll schemes, including one that is very similar to our modern day fps controll scheme. Yes, strafe on left and aim on right analog stick, also ads and fire on shoulder buttons.
I will have to see with other games, but I had Final Fantasy 9 running smooth with default settings in Duckstation, but switching to vulkan made it choppy as heck, and the other settings made the battle gauges all wonky. I wonder why it messes with FF9 so much but runs other games great?

I think the reason people have problems setting up the controller settings is because you need to completely close Duckstation and then restart it to save the settings. At least that seemed to be the case for me. I think people are picking their settings, closing it (without restarting) and then trying their game, only to find the controller settings not working. Close. Restart. Close again. Start game.
At about 2:11 of the video, you bind the analog. Are you pushing up on the left stick to bind that? Or clicking it maybe? Either would seem redundant with previous steps. What is that doing exactly?
Breath of Fire 4 has extreme owdown in ingame FMV (not opening Anime scene) from 60 to 5 fps. Also the character sprites have lines that flicker halfway of the sprite. Which setting can cause it? Putting upscaling to 1x doesnt fix it but increases FPS to about 20 max.
I'm confused, at 2:11, what did you do for the Analog toggle to get "Axis1"? Also for all joysticks where you do an Axis, it looks like you just move the joystick... that does nothing for mine. The only input those joysticks take is clicking them. Is that maybe because I swapped out the joysticks for the RP3 hall sticks?

Armored Core is what made me buy a Playstation and yes the controls were never very simple.
Retroid pocket 4 pro, yeah , really i cannot fathom why, but i also struggle with controls, it seems setup but really is not, in my mind the settings between android, duck station or any emulator and the daijisho front end are conspiring against me- watchung this vid , hopful.
Ty for the video it was really helpful, any suggestions if my game audio gets kinda weird and laggy? Everything else seems to work fine.
How do I add cover art to my games?
I wouldn't suggest trying to do it manually. Any decent frontend should do it for you automatically.
Just got an email that mines being shipped today looking forward to loading it up with some classics on the 3 plus when it arrives...👍👍👍
Nice! Enjoy it!
This is a great video! I started using Retroarch to play PS1 games on my RP3+ but found that any enhancements I setup made most games unplayable. Using your suggested settings in Duckstation has made playability flawless. I see you're using Daijisho as your front end. Noob question but how do you exit out of the game and return to the Daijisho UI?
i think you swipe from the left screen to the right.
So all ps1 games can be widescreened? What about final fantasy? 😂
The PSX is a PS2 based Digital Video Recorder released in 2003, a notable part of Playstation history for being the first device to feature the XMB. I know the original Playstation had PSX as a code name during development but it was never released under that title and I think it is a shame that the actual PSX gets forgotten.
…anbernic is horrible…sold mine n bought retroid pocket 3 plus…
Everyone just use gameboy pro classic the best emulator ever!!
Ace Combat 3 runs like shit.
Use open gl and lower the resolution
To anybody who put this on hoping you would be able to play playstation games by the end of the video only to be let down YET AGAIN. We're in the same boat. I literally just want to play one single game successfully on this piece of junk.
