- The boys at Laidlaw's H-D Install their favorite Cam, the S&S 475C Cam. Get a detailed look at the Cam installation and everything that goes with it. Andrew then takes his 2017 Milwaukee-Eight Road King out for a twist-of-the- throttle with the new cam installed on his stage 4 Screamin' Eagle Setup. This cam with the tuner is California legal so it can be ripped guilt-free.

You know why I love Wisconsin? Because we'll never have to be California compliant, LOL!!! 😁
Gloomy Wisconsin 🗑
Hell I live in California and I'm NOT California compliant .
Andrews excitement is contagious. The idle on this is amazing.
How Andrew kept a straight face during the "lube the shaft" comments is impressive! Great sound and performance from that 475C!!
John, is a very patient person with both of you!
Again 100 % respect to John. Those guys having a laugh while you try to concentrate on a job. I would have told them to go make a coffee n leave me to it if it was me. Great seeing a true professional at work. 😎🇬🇧👍 Respect to you John from an old mechanic in England.UK.
Amazing John can get anything done with experts hanging over him.! Great video to all.
It's really amazing how much you get from a cam upgrade on an M8, I spent a fortune on my old Twin Cam 96 to get that big a boost in HP and Torque. I did a cam chest upgrade on my 2019 RGS, I used all S&S parts except I went with the Red Shift 468 Cam. For me the Red Shift 468 delivers the power right where I live 2500 to 3500 RPM. The SS 475 seems to work better for someone like Andrew that likes to rip the throttle and probably lives in a Higher RPM range than I do. Ofcourse Zippers Red Shift Cams aren't CARB approved so if that matters to you in Cali the 475 would be the way to go for sure.
Good to hear my RKS is getting the Zippers468 next week
John has the patience of a saint. There would be F bombs flying if I was him. The bike sounds amazing!
The environment around that lift would be hostile.
I concur 💯
orale, andrew! have the same cam in my 2019 sgs and it rips! over troublefree 20‘000 miles in 2 seasons (and this ain‘t exactly socal here; living in switzerland near the alps).
John should be featured on some upgrades. He was cool. Andrew was stoked and this is one of my "Go-To" channels.
I installed an S&S 475C cam chest kit on my 2019 RGS a year and a half ago.It turned a nice bike into a hot rod. Here in Ohio we’re able to have our bikes custom dyno tuned for perfect af ratios so not only do I have great performance my mpg is in the high forties.
Dang. Very nice
Can I ask... I'm considering a cam for my M8 114 with the S&S 475c being one I like. But I've heard and seen dyno graphs (even on S&S's own website) that say there is zero gain in hp & torque until you reach the upper rpm range. So high that my bike never gets there. What have you found?
@@tyroneshoelace4872 Best cam choice is the 30/30 From star racing. Best sounding cam and Best performance gains. I did the 475 on my SG and the 30/30 on my RG, the performance gain over the 475 is noticeable. The 30/30 you get your main performance gains in the lower rpms.
Nice seeing someone so excited about a upgrade, and that sound is awesome.
John better charge the both of you $350 an hour for watching him work! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Your cam brings all the boys to the yard 😂😂🤘🏽🤘🏽
I have a Stage III in my 17. I've trashed the motor twice. Harley makes shitty high performance parts. Glad to see you going with S&S.
I got the Harley Davidson 128 Big Bore installed right when it came out. Running the Pro Street and Auto Tuner. The SE oil pump and clutch. Using Fullsac MX header. (Throw said header pipe that comes with the stage kit away, that cat meets EPA but no good). Just put 20,000 miles on the motor running from the Cascade Mtns, Rocky Mtns, Application Mtns, deserts, plains, swamp lands and to the oceans. Ridden in all types of weather from 35 degrees to 109 degrees for hours on end. Still running strong. Not the engine to cruise around town stop light to stop light or get stuck in big-city-stand-still-traffic. She wants to run, needs the air to cool her down and a total blast when you get into the throttle. Very impressed with the Pro Street and Auto Tuner while touring. It changes for the weather conditions and altitude instantly. If you want good power from the get go of a brand new bike, you can buy a standard Electra, Street or Road glide and get the kit installed for a good price point. Get it Dyno'd not mapped. The dyno numbers of the 128 and 131 are very close you wouldn't know the difference. Also, Harley is always placing top 3 in King of the Bagger racing with S&S, Vance & Hines, Trask running their own bikes in the race. Something I have been paying close attention to wondering what really is the best out there.
I installed the same kit in my 2017 SGS with the help of U-Tube! Stage 1 was performed at the dealer I purchased from. I also used the Dyno Jet Tune and backed it up with the Target Tune. I couldn’t be more pleased with the results.
By far the best mod combined with suspension to my 2020 FXLRS
That RK sounds badass! Andrew will have a lot of fun rippin up the roads out on the west coast with his new hotrod!
He needs the Trask cam chest cover with the glass so u can see that wonderful blue color
Very cool😎....I had a bassani rr3 stainless on an 03 cvo king I had last year....I had to sell it due to financial issues..im very sad to this day. The bike was a beast, screamin eagle 103 with andrews cams, forged kb pistons high comp....10.8-1.... head work by gms racing here in Pa, and a custom dyno tune with a tune liscence by dyno jet. It was impressive for a worked 103....i miss it alot but I still have a stock 04 king to ride!.....love the channel Matt
You can have fun on your 04 Road King. Things change in life and hopefully you can get another hot rod Harley again.
Love the sound of that cam. It's hard to beat.
Yeah man! I love my S&S kit! And I have a 107 Motor, with an aluminum alloy intake, all S&S innards! Bassani Road Rage II, 2 into 1. Dyno Steve in Olympia netted me 107 HP and 104 ft/lbs of torque! I love it!
That bike is so badass now! Love the sound and you see the power on video actually. Well done!
It’s a fun bike to ride. I’m glad we were able to showcase the power
@@MattLaidlaw *Yeah all of us feel the same **#Matt**.*
Hey Andrew that bike is a slick hotrod, everything you`ve done for it has made it real badass and the sound just blows me away😎👈🤟
Andrew the Wrench Jockey Choot Rooster. a choot rooster is the guy that sits on the fence beside a bull rider that tells him everything to do in the next 4 seconds, but has never rode a bull.
Great video guys! I'm adding the S&S 465c to my '19 King.
Watching all these older videos cause I want to be a motorcycle mechanic once I feel like I’m done serving the army and love the vids and how the work ethic beard on point too
Andrews and fueling both sell a lower cam sprocket that is a great upgrade and reduces the play in the stock lower sprocket. Runs about 65.00 and worth every penny.
All I can say is, John, YOU ARE AWESOME BROTHER! 🤣🤣 Great job guys! I personally went with the Star Racing 3030 cam with a 485 lift. Had to change the oil pump because it was starting to sump, so I figured might as well put a new cam in while I had the old one out, RIGHT!! Everybody does this right? It gave my mostly stock 2017 CVO Ultra 114 a big boost. It turned out 115 HP and 120 Torque. It has that snap your head back power, it's great! Everyone likes the S&S 475, it's a great cam as well.
6:42 Dude is like back tf up 🤣
Love this 107 work , everyone does the 114 would love to see more 107 work!!
The kit sounds great, the humor is so true.
Haha. Glad you could relate.
That wristwatch on the bars at 22:09 is a nice touch.
What I like the most is the G-Shock 😇! Andrew is never late!
I’m planning on a cam swap on my 18 SportGlide this winter. Was leaning to the 465 because it’s supposedly S&S’s torque focused cam.
Excellent vid, so compliant, specially the test drive! Beautiful Road King, give it to me!
Amacing place to work, awesome guys!
Just can’t let the man work in peace 🤣
that thing sounds great! fantastic job
Snap-on should give you a commission Matt for the up front advertising and the sublime ad at 24:17 with their truck on the freeway. Love the upgrade Andrew - sound and performance.
that cam on the S&S 128 is what I did and I love it!
Oh nice 👍🏼
Sounds great man!
Andrew ... This one is a keeper in my opinion. Sick brutha!!
Put this in my 18 Heritage. 110% worth it.
Look no further to MoonShine Harley Davidson for Cam upgrades on the M8 114 they have done extensive in-house testing on multiple configurations by top name brands like S&S, Comp Cam, Zipper etc. along with different exhaust pairings and a sit down review with the Masters.
Got the s@s 475 dyno tuned in my 114 fat bob , it flies!!!!!!!!
Same combination as Mine! 2017 R.G Stage 4 with the 475 cam. Much better riding!
@Matt Laidlaw Great video and enjoyed the content and test of the new cam...bike sounds awesome.
Thanks for watching my friend. 🤘🏼
There are some PAB's and Service Bulletins with SE Tuner information and updates.
I would have told the short guy to kick rocks after about 5 minutes in. Great job 👍.
Sounds Amazing 🤩!
Best cam out!! Can watch that all day...:)
Love his GShock timepiece strapped to the risers 😅
Bike sounds epic.
Road King sounds really nice.
That's the cam I want. Bike sounds good!
Your vids are the best motorcycle vids on UA-cam. Love the build and the bike sounds awesome. Great job! Would love to know how much this setup cost.
Cool vid Matt! Thank guys!
Wow! Just to hear it idle!
Awesome Show
Motorcycle sounds awesome No sound like the sound of Cam Way cool
You guys should interview C-Bear stunts next on his setup!
I'd like to !
We ALLLLLL get the cams for the lope
The power is a bonus
That came out Nice!!! 🤘⚡️🤘✨✨
That’s soo sick I want that for my bike
I like the way you blurr out the speedo! They will send you a ticket in the mail!
I watched him stroke John’s beard several times. The look in John’s eyes was like “what the fuck are you doing asshole”!
😃🤣 🇦🇺
Laidlaw, hands not tied here. Come to the free America 😀
Haha i know, I know
Andrew is the shop 🤡, very good video and very funny. Pay back from John going to be tough Andrew. 😂
Well that puts that to rest. I was always under the impression that you HAD to go with that bigger cam when you go big bore, Stage IV. But I’m a torque guy too, not that I’m doing burnouts all over town, not worried about top end performance either, I just love that torque when it’s time to pass out on the trail, when you roll the throttle, the bike jumps out of its paint, you’re by the guy, and back into your lane. And of course the sound is like no other. S&S 475, Red Shift 468, you can’t ever go wrong. Great vid! You guys gonna throw it on the dyno for numbers and to see that curve?
How can that man work with the never-ending juvenile goofy jabber. He might not come back tomorrow. Take care of the excellent staff,
Rarely do we subject him to it but he knew what was coming that day.
😂🤣😂🤣 always got to lube up the shaft 😂🤣😂🤣
Keep Living the FUCKING Dream ❗
Safe travels 🙏♥️
💪🇦🇺💪
“If you’re smelling’ what I’m steppin’ in.” 🙂
Sounds good Andrew , but not as good as my stage 4 131 with the 517 cam and I also used the HD billet cam plate with the MOCO newest generation oil pump , ride safe out there in California
@@RedTickJJ exactly man.. just a dick comment.
That thing is so awesome.
I have a twin cam 103 and thinking of upgrading to a higher stage. I do mostly highly miles with some street riding as well. Would it be best for me to consider a Stage III or IV?
Thanks for the videos Matt!
That lope sounds great. Would like to see a dyno chart of the Stage 4 + 475 cam.
Stage 4 build will go better with other cams. the 475 is not a super high lift cam. It's considered a bolt in. a higher lift cam would go better with a stage 4 build.
Yea, we wanted to put it up on the Dyno but didn't have the time. Like the other comment on here says, it probably doesn't hit the peak HP that the other cam hit.
You can have all the horsepower you want, but it’s the torque that’s going to drive the rear wheel. That’s what’s going to really make the difference.
The ending is music to my ears!
Sounds great; S&S makes excellent products for Harleys. On my '21RGS (rare 1-yr. only Snake Venom/Black Pkg.), I went with the S&S 465c full cam chest kit, although initially I was leaning towards the 475 cam. Chose the 465 cam because I wanted the earlier torque hit; pulls great from just off idle (1750rpm-ish) to well past 4000rpm (perfect for my style of conservative riding, 2-up, hills, mountains, curves, etc.). Should I do a S&S 114/117-to-128 big bore kit (or a S&S 131 Stroker Kit, 4.625" stroke x 4.250" bore) future, I'll probably go with either the S&S 550 or S&S 540 cam, and of course will upgrade heads and Intake/TB/injectors, etc.
My other mods: S&S 2-1 Sidewinder (w/catalyst); Fuel Moto/K&N # 3956 A/C (w/stock ventilator outer cover), Trask M8 Checkvent; HD Fan (oil cooler) and Tuned with Dynojet PV3-B (Map by Lucas at Fuel Moto). My combo runs excellent, pulls like freight train, and averages 46.4 mpg cruising on the freeway at 70-75 mph. For suspension: I'm running RWD shocks out back (reservoirs attached to the shocks) and a Progressive FST front end kit; working fine (was 1/3 to 1/2 lower costs than Legends and Ohlins).
I fitted a set of s&s 433 Johnson rods to my 2020 road glide 350gt.what a difference oh my god!
what bike did you do this on?
@@Harley_2023_richieg My '21 Road Glide Special.
@@tommiller8714 Sorry...107?
Glorious beard indeed!
You have a SIK ride Andrew. Sounds amazing! I have the screaming eagle tuner on my 107 M8 you think the 475 SS cams will work with that tuner?
Please do a 2022 softail completely club style’d out! To show what that bike can become. Should help with sales hella!
Sounds awesome
👍😎 🇦🇺
John seems like a great mechanic. Bike sounds amazing, but is that Grom following you with the camera? Lol
Any plans for a dyno tune?? The tq number with your set up would be nice to see!
I have a 2021 Tri Glide. Going to put a 475 cam in this winter. Warranty up in Jan. 2023. Should I put in the S&S oil pump and cam plate as well? The 21's are suppose to have the upgraded oil pump. Thanks for any advise.
Good choice on the cam. Hope you put that Beast on the Dyno.
Regards
Al
Shout out to Jon for having to put up with these knuckleheads!
Yea, I don’t know how he did it
@@MattLaidlaw #Lol 😆😂🤣😜
I’m guessing the cam would work well with the 117, or would another cam be more suitable?
Thanks for sharing. did you have to put the bike on the dyno after installing the tuner, or does it auto tune as you ride? Thanks
I approve of this work from your technician. I mean... Harley is literally in my name... :)
I appreciate your approval.
@@MattLaidlaw As a master home mechanic and a degree in learning from UA-cam, I have to watch out for the little guys. Just in a day's work on the couch, man. Seriously though, that beard is dope! Lol
Nice video. I have a 2022 SG ST, What cam can I do to get more power from my 5th and 6th gear?
Left the O ring off from the stock oil pump. Should've transferred that to the S&S pump!
my guy breaks out the Spyderco!
What rear brake lever is that? It looks fantastic.
That sounds sweet ..👍🏻🇦🇺
How would these parts affect the warranty? How many things can you replace/upgrade before there's a warranty issue? Obviously there's a line, but it'd be nice to know where that line is.
What you running for suspension that should be the first upgrade done on these Harley’s
Thank you for the reply. It will not have this click feel when I down shift without blipping the throttle. If I down shift through the gears without the throttle blip and engine RPM coming down, nothing. I did find a Harley Bulletin from a few years ago about something that sound familiar .It was answering customer questions. The first was, ''why am I feeling feedback on the clutch lever when I shift?'' Answer, ''hydraulic pulse from the slipper and assist clutch ramps.'' So I thought it may be that, what do you think? The clutch lever is as smooth as ever when pulling it in every time other than a throttle blipped down shift? Thanks!!
Great 👍..Sir 😁
Best way to beat the emissions in CA. Wait for the big one and Sacramento and the bay sink in the pacific.
