Went for a ride-a-long in my first Tesla yesterday. A Model 3 Performance. I knew the acceleration would be very fast but it still surprised me. When you can actually feel your internal organs being forced to the back of your body, that’s impressive. If this is the future of the automobile, I’m okay with it.

Only thing mine needed addressing was some rail dust, which they took care of promptly. Surprised they didn't notice it when detailing the car before delivery though...

Maybe the "Panel gap" thing is a bunch of bullshit? Have you, or anyone else measured them and compared them to any other car? No, of course not. Do them even mention the obvious benefits of NEVER HAVING TO GO TO A GAS STATION? Or NEVER HAVING TO GET AN OIL CHANGE? Or basically NO MAINTENANCE for the life of the car? There are 289 moving parts on an internal combustion engine. An EV has like 3. Nothing ever goes wrong, because there is nothing TO go wrong. But none of that means anything really, compared to the fact that burning oil and gas has destroyed this world by pumping out CO2 to levels never before seen. Tesla emits no CO2. if the electricity is clean, as it is in my case, since I have solar panels, then the the whole process is VERY Clean, compared to ICE cars. Any mention of that? Nope. WHY does TESLA EXIST? Why do they make electric cars? Why? So that they can GO FAST and ExCITE US ALL? To make MONEY? Nope. None of those reasons. The mission statement of Tesla is "TO ACCELERATE THE TRANSITION TO SUSTAINABLE TRANSPORTATION". Noble. That is a useful, noble cause. Not one mention of it. There never is. Two douches in someone elses car making bad jokes. That's all this is.

@IMxYOURxDADDY so far I've gone 15,000 miles in mine and haven't consumed a single gallon of any fluid. Though eventually the battery coolant will need to be changed, and I think it uses about one gallon of that and the service interval is 30,000 miles.
So that would be 30,000 mpg.

Needless to say I didn’t bring the S back till the end of the week 😎 (they resolve alignments, creeks, etc. not by trying to fix them but by swapping everything out with new).

Hilarious intro. In all seriousness, this car is very intriguing. Before if you wanted a fun sports car for around $75k USD youd be looking at the m3 c63 corvette gt350 maybe a used r8/911 -- something along those lines. Now there's this, which absolutely smokes all of those for $10-15k less (depending on tax refund). Can't really think of anything as quick and torquey as this for the same price. Handling seems pretty sharp too with awd and low center of gravity. Only thing you'd miss is the sound aspect and the ability to shift gears yourself.

Not wanting to wait any longer, I also ordered the new Model Y Performance, Nov 15th, 2019. Luckily it's promised release date of late 2020 now seems imminent, March 2020. I really hope to get mine early summer, cannot wait. I'm sure the panel gap issue has been resolved. Keep up the good work. I am also keeping my Rivian for now. A more exciting steering wheel for the Performance model is a great idea. Although the steering wheel is just fine and fits the minimalist theme. However, in regards to a HUD... try owning one for awhile and you'll understand why not. It would be distracting, it would ruin the minimalist theme, and it is entirely unnecessary because the main screen is basically a heads-up display in function. No more looking down between the steering wheel. I thought the same thing, it should have a HUD, when I bought it. Now that I've owned it for awhile I'm quite glad that it does not.

I'm pretty sure if they added a HUD you would have the option to turn it off so I'm not sure what you're on about

We got 2. Our P3 has panel gaps. And Tesla could not fix them. Love the speed and performance. However, our buying experience was lacking. When other companies catch up we may not be back with Tesla because of the disappointing experience. Jaguar F pace please!!!

"For better or worse, different"? You forgot to mention it doesn't spew poison.
It's superior in most ways, and absolutely superior in some essential ones. (I suppose that's different, yes.)

dsmluck as someone who works in Silicon Valley and knows countless owners of Tesla products and have heard of their experiences, I’m quite confident in my comment. If you rather use a term like “early adopters” instead of “guinea pigs”, I’d be fine with that.

Finally, can you please tell me if the performance is worth the money vs the Long range AWD? I am not a car person but i want to experience the 0-60 of the performance. Probably the closest Ill ever get to driving a sport car. But is that fun worth 10k difference.
