April is proof that no matter how accomplished and successful a woman can be, she can still be insecure and desperate. There’s absolutely no reason why she can’t be by herself, if the men that come around her aren’t worthy of her time and energy. Instead of forcing a relationship with a broke personal trainer, in a different country, that she can’t fully communicate with, she should just be happy with her own company. This is actually quite sad.

I have not watched the show so I am replying to what you are saying in your comment, not April personally. The thing is just because someone 'can' be alone does not mean they want to. I have been alone for a VERY long time and I am 100% fine alone, but I would like to share my life with someone. I don't think that is insecurity or any other negative thing. Love and partnership are some of the best things about life for many people. As for saying that she should just be alone if no 'high spec' men strike her fancy....I don't see why the love of her life could not be someone who is poor and from another country. Most relationships have a dynamic that is necessary to function and one person has to 'wear the pants'. It is rather obvious April wants to be the pant-wearer so rather than dating her equal or superior, dating someone younger and who has much less education and money makes a lot of sense. This it not predatory either. Everything needs balance and people usually seek in their partner what they don't have themselves.
I totally understand what you’re saying. It pains me to watch someone like April, esp. a successful black woman, dating beneath herself financially. But being ok with being alone is something that some people can do and others can’t. It’s a very personal journey to get to being ok with being alone. It is not easy. Since she has the bandwidth and income to support traveling I don’t see why she can’t travel to other parts of the US, Europe, Canada, Latin America. Other parts of the world and try to meet men on her level. She literally just said she dated men in Houston and then met this guy in the DR. She should expand to other places to at least ATTEMPT to meet other high earning men before risking marrying a man who is looking for a provider. Many high earning women famous or not have married men who make far less than them and it turned out bad, this type of thing rarely works for women. Buzz feed just released an article talking to women who earn more than their partners and most said how difficult and hard it is.
She is like my sister also 38. She is a big ass lawyer, beautiful and confident but dating a jobless 25 year old 😭.

It’s her kids and he isn’t even a step dad yet but she expected him to feed them jump up and down to accommodate the young one when he should already have been taught to eat his eggs or his cereal with milk. These mothers are not doing themselves or their kids any favors by letting them think the world revolves around them.

I've only watched this video here, but it appears she's dating waaaaay down because ahe wants a simp, which is pretty weird. I think it will make for good TV. usually, it's the non-americans who are hotter, and the simps are all americans, with the benefit of moving to america and usually the americans being richer compensating the difference. in this case, he is poorer, less attractive, doesn't even speak english, and presumably gets to move to america - all she gets out of it is the imbalance of status and power. which apparently is what she wants.
