I work in animal medicine (which I personally consider infinitely less disgusting than human medicine), but the stories my human doctor friends have are wild. The shit that doctors see in hospitals, especially residents on an ER rotation, there's no way a "germophobe" could deal. Holy crap, some of the shit my ER doctor friend has told me is etched into my brain forever.

Ive been doing clinicals in the OR of a hospital for a while now for college and my first few days in I've seen, touched, and taken out alot of gross nastiness , and Im still just a student, and this woman is a doctor...meaning she's been through med school and was a resident, in otherwords, she's most definitely seen her fair share of germs and diseases, aint no way she can care for a patient properly when she doesn't even want to deal with the family of the man she says she loves

Neither of these disorders are as selective as her symptoms, they're extremely pervasive. Being easily grossed out, or extremely obsessive about one particular thing, is not how either of those work... if it isn't pervasive, it isn't a disorder. But April knows as a doctor if she self-diagnoses, no one will question her, and that will allow her to continue mistreating people and using a disorder she doesn't even have as an excuse.

3:40 In South Africa when we were going through the water shortage most, if not all, of us were using buckets of shower water (we'd put the buckets in the shower while we showered and we'd use the water that it caught) to flush the toilets because we were literally counting down the days until we ran out of water, it was a totally normal thing and some people still do it even though it's not as much of a crisis anymore

I suffered from some quite severe and specific ocd tendencies in my early adulthood. Before I hit them under hand I went to great lengths to hide them; they were nevvvvver an excuse or reason for poor behaviour. April deserves to be publicly remonstrated for her rudeness, and I really hope that moment is coming this season

I would not have acted the way she did but I completely understand because I have issues with germs like April so I know that’s really hard for her. It’s really hard for me to even use a public restroom. However I would have expected things to be a lot different there and honestly I thought the bathroom was going to look worse but it wasn’t bad. She could have cleaned the toilet seat bought seat covers and used gloves to use the bathroom but not tell them. I would not have reacted like she did. But it's much better than people thinking I am wasting water just for the sake of it. Or maybe I lose 1 hour with the compulsions before going to sleep, it's not easy to explain to someone why you are closing and opening the alarm settings over and over again. But even if explaining is not always easy, it's always better than being rude
April seems to have OCPD which is not the same as OCD. OCD has a lot more to do with intrusive thoughts and overcoming them with repetitive actions that is usually very distressing for the person with it. OCPD is a personality disorder and correlates more with her pompous/ classist attitude.
At that point it feels like we are using labels in mental health to cover up the fact that she and people like her are just plain horrible, and the fact that she’s so un self aware about making others feel less than herself and seems to refuse to put herself in other peoples perspective or go to therapy to better herself in those areas just shows me more that she is a horrible person not just a person with OCPD

I will even travel all the way back to a house after I get home because I keep thinking I left the door wide open even tho I know I locked thendoor. But I can't stop thinking about it until I go back and try the door. Make sure it's locked. I do this with every door. I have to keep checking. It wastes so much time. That's one example. But April says it her self. It's germophobia. She's afraid of germs.

Ive been doing clinicals in the OR of a hospital for a while now for college and my first few days in I've seen, touched, and taken out alot of gross nastiness , and Im still just a student, and this woman is a doctor...meaning she's been through med school and was a resident, in otherwords, she's most definitely seen her fair share of germs and diseases, aint no way she can care for a patient properly when she doesn't even want to deal with the family of the man she says she loves

April doesn't have OCD, nor is she a germaphobe. She's *prejudiced.* If she were truly either one, traveling would be this complicated, too. As would her profession. Neither of these disorders are as selective as her symptoms, they're extremely pervasive. Being easily grossed out, or extremely obsessive about one particular thing, is not how either of those work... if it isn't pervasive, it isn't a disorder. But April knows as a doctor if she self-diagnoses, no one will question her, and that will allow her to continue mistreating people and using a disorder she doesn't even have as an excuse.
I wonder how she ended up with this guy. I would not want to date someone from a country with such a different standard of living , also not an extremely rich guy who would look down on how I live - for the same reasons, really.

Hella sick of how OCD gets represented in the media and on these kinda shows... OCD is a VERY real disorder and it RUINS the lives of the people that suffer with it.
I feel for her, however, she is directly adding to the stigma of OCD and people that suffer with it being overly dramatic and rude about thier compulsions... There is a way to manage the situation and communicate what is going on and not everyone who suffers this disorder is blatantly rude and disrespectful (while using OCD as an excuse for it).
It really sucks! Especially given how well they portrayed ticks on 90 Day previously with Loren...

3:40 In South Africa when we were going through the water shortage most, if not all, of us were using buckets of shower water (we'd put the buckets in the shower while we showered and we'd use the water that it caught) to flush the toilets because we were literally counting down the days until we ran out of water, it was a totally normal thing and some people still do it even though it's not as much of a crisis anymore

I suffered from some quite severe and specific ocd tendencies in my early adulthood. Before I hit them under hand I went to great lengths to hide them; they were nevvvvver an excuse or reason for poor behaviour. I would not have acted the way she did but I completely understand because I have issues with germs like April so I know that’s really hard for her. It’s really hard for me to even use a public restroom. However I would have expected things to be a lot different there and honestly I thought the bathroom was going to look worse but it wasn’t bad. She could have cleaned the toilet seat bought seat covers and used gloves to use the bathroom but not tell them. I would not have reacted like she did. Why put others down on things they can’t control that’s just cruel. They’re doing their best but she’s doing way too much gaging and making comments about the environment they live in.

Yes, that is exactly what I do when I start to act on my impulses. I tell them I have OCD tendencies, apologize, and tell them it's not you, it's me and my personal issues with ocd
@@adriasorensen2249 Absolutely. I am currently having trouble with over washing my hands and wasting water, and I sometimes have to explain myself. But it's much better than people thinking I am wasting water just for the sake of it. Or maybe I lose 1 hour with the compulsions before going to sleep, it's not easy to explain to someone why you are closing and opening the alarm settings over and over again. But even if explaining is not always easy, it's always better than being rude
April seems to have OCPD which is not the same as OCD. OCD has a lot more to do with intrusive thoughts and overcoming them with repetitive actions that is usually very distressing for the person with it. OCPD is a personality disorder and correlates more with her pompous/ classist attitude.

At that point it feels like we are using labels in mental health to cover up the fact that she and people like her are just plain horrible, and the fact that she’s so un self aware about making others feel less than herself and seems to refuse to put herself in other peoples perspective or go to therapy to better herself in those areas just shows me more that she is a horrible person not just a person with OCPD

April doesn't have OCD. I own a cleaning business and I actually have OCD. It's not a cleaning disorder. It's about being compulsed to do something. I struggle with locking doors. I will even travel all the way back to a house after I get home because I keep thinking I left the door wide open even tho I know I locked thendoor. But I can't stop thinking about it until I go back and try the door. Make sure it's locked. I do this with every door. I have to keep checking. It wastes so much time. That's one example. But April says it her self. It's germophobia. She's afraid of germs.
