As someone who has worked the call center for people’s cards, this isn’t a victimless crime. They think, “well as long as they eventually get the money back,” but they don’t think of the person 200 miles from home trying to fill up on gas in the middle of the night on a road trip, stranded in the middle of nowhere because their account is drained and now they can’t afford gas; or a family that can’t afford food for a week. I’ve seen this stuff happen too much to pretend it’s victimless.
My ex husband had his account hacked on Christmas eve. It played havoc with our plans for the holiday and well into the new year.
They are switched on enough to know it's not victimless. If it's a scam they are unlikely to get money back. Only way is if the bank is good to then or makes concessions towards the relationship as goodwill. It's only straight fraud with 0 error on customers part they are guaranteed to get money back.
Worked at a big bank for Fraud protection for over ten years. You’re right it’s not victimless at all. It can get someone evicted if it’s at the wrong time, can keep a baby without diapers and formula, and can keep people from getting vital medications. People also don’t realize that the more idiots doing this stuff, the more fees on banks and cards go up so they can continue to make money.
My account was hacked (card cloned) the day before my daughter's birthday party. I went to the ATM to get the remainder of the money for the venue we booked for her party and money was gone. I ended up having to take out a title loan on my car to pay for her party. Although I was able to resolve what happened, the panic that I felt in that moment I wouldnt wish on my worst enemy
@@daisywaizy4139yikes. You couldn’t ask family or a friend tho bro?! Getting a title loan for a few hundred bucks is wild. Sad situation tho. Most scammers don’t target poor people. Usually only people with 50k in their account.
That woman in the store was totally against scammers until she got some free stuff. This is how corruption works and how easy it is for people to become complacent.

I think so too. Just say no thanks, you're not gonna get jumped at least you're not complicit in a crime. Maybe she felt threatened or like something would happen outside and it was just really weird, but I think in that situation I would have felt ok to say no even if I don't feel safe to call them out. Just leave and hurry away.

Yeah, but if you have your rent money in your account, and this dillweed steals your money before you can pay your rent, how much of a pain is that going to be, even if the bank eventually refunds your money.
Thankfully, most modern banking apps allow you to lock your card.

When my mom was 78 she and my 79 year old dad were working out with a personal trainer, still traveling, going to and having parties. My dad was still working and my mom was always busy with volunteering.

My *FAVORITE* thing to do is ask obvious foreign scammers what the weathers like in the city that showed up on my caller ID. Had a guy in "Phoenix" agreeing how dangerous the icy roads were in winter.
EDIT: It's all in good fun. I've had scammers in "Denver" agreeing that alligators are becoming a real problem. 🐊😂

Oh the puppy scamming thing is rampant - big time - when we got our pup 4 years ago thankfully my hubby is tech savvy and was able to do reverse image searches and such and we did not loose money. But we did eventually get a pup. Her name is Maggie Mae
My friend got $1800 taken from her bank account and it took a month for the bank to fix it. She was so stressed about how she was gonna pay her bills the whole time. Her husband is sick and she has a small child. So that’s who scammers are hurting.

Yep that’s the issue, sure people can and do get their money back, but not having that money available when they planned for it can change peoples lives. When you’re paycheck to paycheck without much of a safety net saved away, that one month can completely change your entire life

I'm in a similar boat right now. Some idiot bought 4 iPads with my credit card info before the credit card company started blocking the transactions. This was in early July and I haven't heard anything from the bank fraud team since our initial call and the transactions are still on my account. Honestly it felt like Apple was more helpful than my credit card company. So I'm pretty pissed at them.
I used to know Dev personally. This guy is pretty smart. None of the stuff he's doing is real. That $10k he got from the bank, he walked in WITH the $10k originally and asked the clerk to count it through a money counter to see how much it was. The clerk them banded it up and handed it back to him. Everything you see is easily explainable. That's why he's never been caught, because there's nothing to catch.

I was just in Japan last month for a cultural exchange through my college and while I was there, I talked to some of the students who will be coming to my college for schooling and the number one question they asked was about property crime. It was so embarrassing to have to tell them that it is a real problem here. In Japan, property theft is almost non-existent. It's so sad that people are like this.

@Tactics_Actual that may be true, I don't actually know if that's how their justice system works but that's not why it's like that. The reason people don't steal in japan has much more to do with culture and history than it does the punishment for the crime.
My dad started getting calls telling him,his grandson was in jail and needs “bail” money, from several cities. Yes, he called me the first time and I promised him, he was fine and working. After the third call, he seriously started to believe them and thought we were lying to him. I had to ask my son to stop by his grandpa house on his way home and all was well. The reason he started to wonder is because, he worked at the airport and can fly where ever he wants, so it seemed plausible to my dad. He also thought maybe we were having money problems and didn’t tell him, I assured him we were doing fine and if I needed money for my child, I most certainty would ask him

I had the exact same thing happen to me, they said that my wife had a warrant out of Johnson county Tennessee, I’ve been with my wife since I was 15 and I’m 42 now and knew beyond the shadow of a doubt that my had never been to Johnson county Tennessee. Long story short they had a warrant and she was going to picked up the next day at our house. But they wanted $3,000 for a bond and they wouldn’t show up to get her. While I was on the phone with the scammer “Johnson county sheriff’s department” popped up on my caller identification my mind was blown honestly. I work 70 hours a week and try to do nothing but provide for my family I’m an Iraq/Afghanistan combat vet and it blows my mind how people do this stuff
That happened to my elderly parents. Cost them $3000. Hope there's a special place in hell for these people.

I was scammed. Someone charged $2,000 at Walmart on electronics. I caught it and my bank went after them. I think these scammers should go to prison. They put me through hell with the anxiety and having to wait for a new charge card.

My mother has had a situation where she kept getting fraud charges on her credit card. At this time my mother and I were about to become homeless and the charges would be for around $300 and $600 dollars this led to multiple nights of us both not being able to eat all the while living in a shelter. Scammers like this don’t deserve documentaries on what they do, they don’t deserve platforms, they deserve to be put in jail. It’s sad how they don’t think of the people who could be going through the worst times in their and how their money could literally be all they have. I wish that video was a message about how scamming effects people as a whole and explained how to avoid it instead of shining a light on someone who does it and has ruined many lives.

I had 1000 withdrawn from my account along with an attempt to cash a 23,000 cheque, basically attempted identity theft, the cheque never cleared and once i noticed i reported it, but bc they used my pin to take out the 1000 out i was not reimbursed. Instead of being recognized as the victim i was treated as a suspect, it was a disheartening experience to say the least xo

The newest scam going around right now is these guys saying their child just died and they're selling their PlayStation 5 for like $100. They tell you just pay for the shipping, and then say they have to send it in 3 different boxes so you have to pay an extra shipping fee after you already paid the $100..
Claiming a child died to scam people is beyond scandalous and they should be ashamed of themselves.

This was an awesome session! I am in a digital forensics degree program and I cannot believe that the amount of scammers out there these days. Perhaps we need to take a step back and use cash again and use the old fashion way when buying thing like Sears and JCPenny via the catalog. Always change passwords every three months, passwords should be 12 characters long, and check your bank account daily.

What we need to do is like they’ve done in Europe for at least the past 20 years and make every credit card accompanied by a manual PIN, which is decoupled from the card. This way, even if someone can skim a card, they still need the PIN.
The fact is our banks are too cheap to invest in such a system and customers too lazy to take the extra time and effort.

My poor grandma god rest her soul was scammed over a decade ago, saying they had her oldest grandson in jail and they were going to do horrible things to him. They even had someone on the phone pretending to be him!!! All she had to to was walk 2 streets over to my aunt's house to find out it wasn't true. She gave them thousands of dollars before we found out. Almost drained all her money. So sad. These people need to get caught and face the consequences! I've been scammed before, they bought new dentures!!! Wtf get a job and do it the right way

I've had identify theft one time when my acct.'s office got broke into and computers taken...that, to the tune of a $28,000 worth of Line of Credit, then my Chevron card got stolen and in ONE day, spent $900 in gas in a tiny mt. town..I felt the mgr at that Chevron HAD to be in cahoots, and must have told everyone "Free gas". There's more, but these two forced me into filing bankruptcy, cuz I wasn't paying it.. a-holes!
It's not just banks that he's stealing from. Even if you can recoup the stolen funds the banks don't turn around & hand it all back the moment you request it. That may take a few days. Banks aren't absorbing these losses they're passing it along to us in exorbitant fees. He's stealing from us as well.

By far the most infuriating part of this video was the lady in the store, on her high horse about hating scammers... but was then quite happy to benefit from stolen money as long as she's winning from it. That's half the problem today, everybody beats the "be kind to others" drum when it requires zero investment and nothing is happening, but you watch how fast everyone is happy to screw over other people if it benefits them directly. This goes across all areas of life, even stupid minor things like those people who get up at 6am on holiday to throw a towel on a sunbed to stop someone else from using it... then rock up at 1pm to eventually use it. But as long as you're alright and got what you wanted, f**k everyone else. But be kind though and considerate though, as long as I say those words then I'm doing good in the world.

The most disturbing part is his lack or remorse. To say nobody gets hurt is bogus. At the least, businesses pass their losses on to the consumer via higher fees and prices. Plus, it’s a pain to replace all your cards or getting a new account.

These independent scammers that run the stolen cards usually always get caught! They get in serious trouble when they do multiple scams and in multiple states. They get charged in every state and after they serve in one state they go serve time in the next and so on!

What we need to do is like they’ve done in Europe for at least the past 20 years and make every credit card accompanied by a manual PIN, which is decoupled from the card. This way, even if someone can skim a card, they still need the PIN.
The fact is our banks are too cheap to invest in such a system and customers too lazy to take the extra time and effort.

He provided no information on how to avoid these abuses, not even a little. They spend like this because they know it's temporary. And they don't fear jail. To them it's just a reunion with their old friends. And when they get out they can just pick right back up and keep doing all this.
You should have included at the end more about the cashapp scam. That was him scamming the audience to send him money to teach them what pretend thing he was doing at the end on his phone. So ultimately, this video taught people how to commit these crimes AND scammed the audience.

No, it is not conspiracy to teach people how to scam. Conspiracy requires much more than just plain information on how to do an illegal thing. Information on how to do something that is illegal, is 100% constitutionally protected speech. You don't get to conspiracy until you start making a plan to actually do it, or money changes hands.
It's like saying it's illegal to teach someone how to hack into computers, it's just not. You can literally pay for classes and get entire degrees that will teach you how to hack into computers, there are entire UA-cam channels dedicated to teaching hacking. It's the entire concept of red team v blue team, big companies will literally pay people to try to hack into their systems, and in exchange the hackers write a report on how they did it and what to improve. Information like how to hack computers and how scams operate is 100% constitutionally protected speech, even things like how to make a bomb are constitutionally protected speech. Considering raw information like this as "conspiracy" is fundamentally contradictory to freedom of speech they cannot coexist together.
Probably the best example is the Snowden case. Snowden took the information that he illegally stole from the government and gave it to the new York times. The new York times then went and publicly published these highly classified and illegally obtained information. By your definition of conspiracy, the new York times staff should all be in jail right now. We literally have a supreme Court decision on this very issue. It's called new York time co vs United States and the court ruled that not only could the government not punish the journalists who published the Pentagon papers, the court denied the governments request of an injunction against publication. Conspiracy requires a hell of a lot more than just posting on UA-cam how crimes are committed

I used to work for the fraud department for Dominos, and it is a pain when guys do this. The customer complains to the bank, the bank refuses to pay, then the company has to prove it took the money in good faith. Takes ages for each one, and even then Dominos might not get the money. Its a full time job keeping on top of these things. A smaller company may not have the resources to fight the banks over this crap.

The thing is that by the letter of the law (UCC and state equivalents) NONE of these transactions over the phone are actually authorized since they don’t have a *valid signature* to authorize the transaction as required by law. Companies make the calculation that it is much more profitable to not fully comply with the law because it increases volume of sales. The flip side is this is the risk they take. Every single time they take a card payment over the phone they’re in a legal gray area of choosing convenience and profit over security. 1 out of 100 transactions might be invalidated… but all 100 were legally questionable on the part of the seller.

Back in the day as a kid 25 years ago I learned the saltwater trick to clean out vending machines fully. You could squirt saltwater in the dollar acceptor with a straw to jailbreak it. Press the coin return the machine would puke up all the money faster than you could scoop it out and it would act like unlimited funds you could press the items buttons til was empty.
So did he use someone else’s ID to buy the house? That’s really screwed up. I hope all those losers get long prison sentences and end out as some inmate’s girlfriend.
I got a call from somebody saying they were the IRS and they had a warrant out for my arrest, I told them to do they fucking job and catch me then. My tax dollar work for them to work, not for me to turn myself in. They started laughing and hung up🤣😂🤣😂🤣

TRUE STORY: My mom got a call that an old car she sold years ago was found at the U.S./Mexico border with a trunk full of drugs, and she could be in serious trouble. I knew it was obvious B.S. because officer "John Smith" had a serious Indian accent. Just for fun, I had my then 9 year old daughter take over for my mom, barely speaking above a whisper to not give away the fact she's a kid (We'd done this before). She kept the guy on the phone for 28 minutes. When he started saying it was involved in a high speed chase, she lost it and started laughing like a hyena for 5 minutes. The scammer FINALLY lost his cool and asked WTF was so funny. My daughter: "My last car was a Barbie Jeep Powerwheel. It only went 5 mph you dummy!!!" 😂😂😂 Guy called back after she hung up and I basically said to eff off. Anyway, i thought it was hilarious. Thanks for reading.

When I first saw this video upon its release, I was equally shocked that you would permit someone to film you while committing these various crimes-especially considering your status as a public figure and a rap artist. Your whereabouts are not difficult to ascertain. Even if it's fake, how are you going to prove it? It's somewhat similar to known felon rappers using prop firearms in music videos how can you prove the gun is fake and that they're not in possession of a firearm. I find it quite remarkable.
The onus of proof is always on the prosecution. In America we have "presumption of innocence".

You’re throwing around the word “prove” very loosely. The prosecution and defense merely present evidence…the jury decides who is telling the truth. Merely introducing evidence is *not proof* of anything. A couple of comments above mention that the burden is on the prosecution. Yeah, obviously. But once credible evidence has been introduced the burden shifts to the defense to dispute the evidence or claim an affirmative defense, creating *reasonable* doubt. In the example of fake guns…bring in the fake guns to be examined…or show receipts. Incredibly simple tbh.
