@@lpr5269yes it’s a very common tactic. As you’ve handed over the bill in the moment they need to be on their game, you then say, “oh!” And reach for your pocket, fishing out the exact change, and then meticulously counting it out. It’s a magicians trick in the end. Misdirection, attention-drawing, sleight of hand. Of course the idea being to coax them into ease and skip the heavy scrutiny of the bill.

About 25 years ago at the grocery store I had used for a long time, the cashier said to me "I wish I had your printing machine" or something to that effect. I asked what she meant. She pointed out that every time I shopped I paid with $100 bills. That never crossed my mind as it was simply a matter of I didn't use plastic or checks and would always go to the bank which was in the same shopping center right before shopping for groceries and get a few $100 bills so I'd have shopping/spending money for a couple of weeks without my wallet being stuffed full of smaller bills right off. She made me super self conscious and a bit paranoid because I have been in stores several times when someone was trying to pass fake bills and saw what happens. After that I made a point of avoiding her lane. But more than once just as I was next in line she would take over that checkout and lo and behold of course I had a $100 bill lol.

The only difference between the criminals and the so called upstanding people of any community is the fact that one got ratted out by someone they thought they could trust or who turned out to be too greedy, caught up with dirty cops, etc.and the other hasn't had that happen to them, yet. @ 1:13:53 , I really feel for this guy. My brother recently died and we were not close through most of our lives. Actually, I'd say we disliked each other mostly... but in the last few months, he had been doing better, and we had been talking. He died at 33, I still feel numb, or at least I hope it's numb and not just nothingness. At times I feel like a monster for not being emotionally destroyed by this loss. I mean, when my parents divorced I was practically the dad of the house. The first time he got drunk he was sick and I had to lay there with him. I remember so many arguments over dumb stuff, and now he is just, dead. It's crazy. My mom is a wreck.
My step dad is also suffering from dementia that started after a trucking accident he had. So my mom is also dealing with that. I know she is really bad off, because she will call me telling me so. I feel awful for her.
Anyway, I'm glad this guy was able to reclaim his life and prove that regardless of what happens in your youth it is within your own power to rewrite your future... I told my brother that, but he just never could believe me.
