    I am definitely jealous of your metal fabrication, painting, and welding skills. I have a '66 Amazon and would love to be able to do all this type of work myself. I have been working on some basic stuff so far but will have to farm out bigger projects like this at some point. Thank you for doing this series!

      Thank you for this comment! Always nice to hear that other amazon's are being restored 😁👍🏻
      Welding is a art and leaning it takes a huge amount of time but it is so nice to be able to make anything you like 😁

      There will be a moment when she has a new coat of blue paint and then the magic happens 😁 then we can build her up again with the fresh b20 with new upgrades and i really can't wait.
      Sometimes when welding for such a long time only 2 days a week it's hard to stay positive 😅

    I'm loving this series! I fondly remember my father's 1963 122S, but in the UK in those days I don't remember them being called Amazons??? My father's car was the same blue as this car but it had 4 doors, and he drove it until getting a 144 in 1972, but it was the Amazon that took us on all those childhood holidays, where my father would take my uncles out to show them what 100 MPH was like, as none of their cars would do it! I'd love a journey in a fully sorted 122 now...

      Cool story and thank you for the comment! Was his 1963 car resprayed somewere in it's life? I think the blue my car has wasn't available untill 1969

      @@RollinHeritage Ah, thanks for the question! I was wrong about the car’s age - it was registered in the UK in 1965 or ‘66, but the colour looked very close to yours - did Volvo do a similar light blue before 1969, and did they do different colours in different markets?

    So lot of work was done and no less in forward. Bodywork was seemed to me like endless but truly it can be finished once. Rain not so harmful for Volvo. Lower member looks like salt eats it. Enjoy with welding!😊

      @@RollinHeritage I mean, that a lot of bodywork was done. And no less work with another stuff with vehicle assembling. Honestly say body work take a lot of time😉

    Thanks for an update. It's been a long time since your last video, but I understand that life sometimes gets in the way. Looking forward to the final paint going on!

      Making video's and editing them is a pain next to everything that goes on next to it. But i'll manage. I really try to post every 14-17 days but i can't promise anything 😅😆
      I really hope paint can go on soon. But the weather is still super bad and we haven't had a day with no rain for weeks now..
      And paint is pricey and the budget is low 😆👍🏻

    Very nice work !! I will do quite the same on a 1965 122S (Amazon) that i foud in eastern Canada. it is in prety good shape. It have no mechanical issues and never had major bodywork and/or damage. Stored in a nice clean barn for its whole life and driven few times a year for the last 50 years...The body is about in the same condition as yours. Can't wait starting the project... The 122S is my alltime favorite !!!

      Ohh super nice!! I can't wait to get mine painted and drive her again. There was a white one parked close to my grandparents house and about 2km from my house. Every time driving to school i looked at it and loved that car. Later on i started driving them in the forza horizon 3 game and fell really in love. Eventually i sold my boat wich i really loved and put thousands of hours in and finaly bought this car 😁

    I'm pretty surprised the spot sander you got worked so bad, does it have a rubber piece in the front which you sand the sheet metal material through???
    My one would take out those spots on the roof pretty easily!!

    • @RollinHeritage
      @RollinHeritage  8 місяців тому +1

      I borrowed it from my collegue and told him and showed another part of the video. He was also surprised but after testing at his own shop it also didn't work really well. It might have something to do with the glass beads being different than the stuff he normaly uses. Or the thing might just be broken 😅

      @@RollinHeritage like I told you in the previous episode, I sandblasted all four parts of the inside floors of my Alfa Sprint 101 series using it, took me a week maybe, but it got very clean...

  • @EdwardThomas-mn5vd
    @EdwardThomas-mn5vd 8 місяців тому +1

    All that floor rot comes from design fault of the chassis members under the hood (bonnet)!!!!

    • @RollinHeritage
      @RollinHeritage  8 місяців тому +1

      What is wrong with them?

    • @EdwardThomas-mn5vd
      @EdwardThomas-mn5vd 8 місяців тому

      @RollinHeritage water and debris collects on the chassis members under the bulkhead ( almost out of sight) then, after a while starts to rust and eventually makes holes in the foot wells and the rest of the floors.
