The 2023 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 Is A Race Car That Screams Like An American Ferrari

  • It's finally here! The long-awaited 2023 #CorvetteZ06! Built on the same mid-engine layout as the standard #C8Corvette, the new #Z06 ditches the old 6.2L supercharged V8 and replaces it with a bespoke 5.5L #LT6 naturally aspirated DOHC V8 making 670 HP. #Chevrolet claims the new #Corvette Z06 has the most powerful production N/A V8 in the world. It also happens to rev all the way to 8,600 RPM, making this new #C8CorvetteZ06 sound like an American Ferrari.

      I disagree. They need to make up for their abysmal Malibu and Camaro interior. If they put half as much effort into the Camaro and Malibu's interior, as they do the Corvettes interior they might be a hit. They already have the Corvette as a performance car. They should make the Camaro more of a GT car dimensional wise. Lose slightly in performance but gain rear seat and trunk space. Visibility can be fixed with modern tech but preferably just fix the shoulder lines and make the rear glass more wide. For the Malibu, when they discontinued the Buick Regal. They should have given the option to get the sportback and AWD from the Buick Regal. While updating the interior from the carpet dash to at least synthetic leather. If they put similar interior material from the new Tahoe into the Camaro and Malibu. We would probably get another generation of the Malibu and Camaro. Instead there has been talks of discontinuing them for years. There hasn't been a solid refresh for them since 2019 or 2020.

      @@99-Zulu lol why would they invest any energy into a vehicle (Malibu) that is mainly sold to rental fleets? I'm sure they have plans for some new E-Camaro or something like that. With Dodge basically killing the Challenger and Charger, Ford would be the only competition with the new Mustang but if THEY DO IT RIGHT, the Camaro would be more highly anticipated of a new car because of the lack of updates given to it over the years

    • @JacesOwnWorld
      @JacesOwnWorld Рік тому +3

      @@naveenthemachine there are massive legitimate reasons to bad mouth GM. It has taken GM a very long time to actually make quality products. Yes, this C8 is worlds better than what they used to produce. Yes, the Camaro has been pretty decent quality for the last two generations. But overall, GM has been pretty poorly built, and still as a whole, builds crap products. Their LS engines are great, but the rest of their vehicle builds have not been good, HENCE why they were cheap.
      It’s about time that they have been making good products, but honestly, the C8 Vette’s and Camaros still feel like GM products when you step inside them. Their nice interiors are masked very well, but they still feel like cheaply made materials in comparison to European vehicles. Build quality doesn’t start and stop at how it looks. There’s a lot that is to be touched and felt, and a Porsche, as an example, feels worlds better inside than a C8 Vette. I’ve been in both more times than I can count, so yes, I know.
      With that said, yes, GM is way better than before, but it’s still not “Euro standard” in terms of feel, fit, and finish. That’s like saying Korean vehicles, like Hyundai and Kia, are just as good as European cars, when those of us who actually know quality, know that’s not even close or being true. They’re just like GM…better than before, but masked to hide how cheap they still are. Their vehicles are “bargains” for a reason. Part of it is their brand name, but the bigger part is their quality. Now, I would definitely pick a Chevy over a very crap-build Dodge. I mean those vehicles are insanely hideous to look at. You can literally see how bad their quality is, inside and out, and they just throw in bigger engines to “justify” their insane prices, while still keeping their interiors to $25k rental car quality…
      Performance standards have always been great with the Vette, so yes, I would expect it to perform as good as it competitors. If they really are trying to make it a “Ferrari killer” then they better be stepping it up. So far they are.

Like this is what a true sports car should look like not some ugly boat that dodge makes that's looked the same for 20 years....and also listen to that flat plane crank it sound so much better than those obnoxiously loud and annoying cross plane ones that only rev to 6k lmao

      It’s fast from a start, I’ll give it that, but to be quite honest, looking at its speedo from a 40-80mph time, it looks pretty average, which really relates to it being pretty slow for how expensive this car is. My IS38 turbo swap into my MK7 GTI, with a 6spd manual, on a regular 91oct tune, is faster than this in that timeframe! And it’s just a 4cyl-t car. Literally $$2500 worth of mods, and it’s faster. I’m sorry, but as cool as this C8 Z06 is, I’m just not impressed with its speed. Performance is a different talking point. I can’t doubt that this C8 Z06 performs worlds better than my GTI, and almost all cars too, but it’s also going to be a $300k+ car after dealer markups, and at that price, I expect more speed.

Automatic trannys are in heavy trucks, but too even in a heavy truck, manual trannys are better for more vehicle control and skill set. Insane to think the interior came from GM. Amazing what they can do when the bean counters are having to take a back seat. The styling seems to be out-Ferrarri-ing that Italian brand, given their current styling direction. It all looks very up to the task of sport and luxury.

      Looks are subjective, and this car looks good but hardly a dream. The Jaguar CX-75 is far better looking imho, and Chevy would have done well with more curvaceous styling along the lines of the jaguar. Remember that Chevy started with a clean sheet here and the sky was the limit. Underwhelming imho.The Ferrari inspired engine is the star here. The interior is also awesome. The only negatives are the good but not great styling and the monsterous ADM that this car will command; the positives are the interior and the engine. The really big positive of this model is that maybe less demand for the normal C8 will allow us mere mortals to finally acquire one.
