For all of the times that GM has viewed the world from a dark cramped space, delivering undeniable insanity like the C8 Z06 reminds me how good an engineering company they are. This video is proof that sanity is optional to be part of the Corvette team. Except for the late 70s, the Corvette has defined bang for your buck. My C5 has 178,000 miles and still pulls like the day I left the Corvette museum in my first new car, my first Corvette. It always fires up (today after a year in storage) and has never stranded me. It's dancing on pavement when i track it and can hold all of my tools for a job in a pinch. When GM gets it right they define what outstanding engineers can deliver when sanity is optional. It's never a bad day behind the wheel of a Corvette!
The c5 is one of the most underrated sports cars, it's a true gem. And those beautiful headlights im pretty sure it's the last production car ever made within pop up headlights.
GM subs out a lot of its performance car engineering work to lotus. It's the Lotus engineers who have been adding the greatness to corvettes in the last 20 years and who knows how much longer.
@@3dw3dw I would recommend you watch the savage geese vid on the C8. GM has world class engineers that could design things Germans and Italians would be furious with envy over, and do it more efficiently. This car is a special testament to what they wanted to do. No one else will offer a vehicle with this kind of performance at this price point.
It's crazy that despite the performance bargain the corvette is, that if you're willing to put your body on the line, a motorcycle will destroy just about any sports car in a straight line for a 1/3 of the price in this case.
@@edcunhaph I'm a top class motorcycle dragracer and I give a LOT of props to the rider here. Noticed that it is clearly said the runs were WITHOUT electronic aids. A mid 9 second 1/4 mile run on ANY 100% STOCK bike without assist is a feat by itself. That guy can ride.
Except a Tesla Plaid. Chris Moore tried racing a Tesla Plaid on both a 2022 Suzuki Hayabusa and 2021 Kawasaki ZX-14R and lost to both. Of course it was pretty windy that day so it was a little sketchy. Also, why are you comparing the performance of a motorcycle to a passenger vehicle? Kind of pointless. A motorcycle that weighs over 3k lbs less should be able to beat a car. I wouldn't feel bad about any car I owned if I lost to a street bike.
How is that crazy? Its been this way since sportbikes came out. Over 40-years straight of something doesn't make year 41 remotely crazy. Crazy would be the exact opposite.
The LT6 is underrated. Chassis Dyno testing has shown 640 at the rear wheels. This engine is putting out well over 700 at the flywheel. The 6.2 LS is underrated in the regular C8 as well.
I raced a C8 off the line with a Honda 1000rr. I was pretty impressed how hard it could launch and put all the power down without wheel slip. He had the lead up to about 70 before I quickly passed but I was working to come back around him.

the control of that duc launch was way impressive. I tried being more aggressive launching my s1000rr at the texas mile a couple months ago and it almost suplexed me on the runway. bike launches are way tricky. cool to watch someone like that guy that knows what he's doing!
I use to run a ZX-10 & ZX-11 Kawi, great bikes ... but you definitely gotta respect what you're sitting on.
The more I rode, the more brave I got. A day after a close call at 150 or so I sat the bike on a dealership floor with a for sale sign & ordered my first H-D.
@@danielfair4675 i went the other direction. started on HD"s and choppers, then to sport bikes. a big slow HD was perfect for me in my heavy drinking days. i justify the speed with sobriety now. :)
@@danielfair4675 can appreciate the sentiment. Got motorbike licence before my car and rode everything from 250's to chopper to CBR1000s, one day I had a close call with an oncoming truck on a cresting left hand turn ( here in Australia that puts us on the left side of the road ); after that I basically never could ride the same again and subsequently started my journey to being a full time tin-top turkey.
To be fair, Panigale V4s wheelies much less than other same class bikes, I guess, due to counter-rotating crankshaft. You actually can use 1st gear safely:) Still hugely impressive launch, given z06 0-60 was 2.6.
@@take_it_slow_alex wasn't aware of the counter crank in that? yes extremely impressive no matter how you slice it. a bike will still try to climb the rear chain with that much torque.
Can we take a moment to think about the Z06 numbers.... To get 670hp from 5.5ltr naturally aspirated engine is INSANE
And then to get a warranty and sensible service intervals, that's next level

This is how you make car content. Kudos to Jason, Randy, and team for bringing top quality content to the masses. My regards to the chef!!!
I am never going to get sick of these videos. The visuals, the audio (even with emphasis on the landing of the wheelie!), the vehicles, and the storytelling. Nothing beats it!
I've been watching car review videos for over fifteen years and that was hands down the best quality and entertaining video I've ever seen. Great job all around!
Ist's not the qulity, its the qauntity.
The editing in these videos is on a different level. I am LOVING these. It’s like watching an action movie!
God knows how carwow can make their drag racing looks boring despite the long duration. I want to see more like this.
I got so tired hearing "click up here and there and a popup banner there" I just had to unsub.
they used to just get straight to the point, now half the video is just them talking before even starting the first drag race
That's what hiring a good media team does for you. Carwow puts the emphasis on publishing content more often with less post production. Hagerty went the other direction. Both stand out.
One is a daytime soap opera and the other is Martin Scorsese film.
@@mtnman1984 That is a good point, but I'm pretty sure carwow can make it concise and not too long.
Hagerty, I can't tell how awesome and fulfilling it is to see you throwing motorcycles into the mix. A lot of folks still don't understand just how fast some of these bikes are and as a rider myself, I love seeing what they're capable of doing against the world's fastest cars. Your cinematic spin on top of concise and entertaining dialogue just makes all of these uploads movie like.
100% on the mix of bikes/cars. I own the Ducati V4 SP and it's literally a rocket ship. The amount of energy to hold on under full accel is just nuts. The Ducati V4R is even more crazy with 230hp.

That ZO6 deserves a Revelation episode.
Agreed, and this gen's Z06 cemented the term 'Corvette' and changed how people see an 'American sports car'
Your C5 won’t even beat a Tesla Model 3 in acceleration. Yes, that Tesla will start first time, every time.
It's crazy that despite the performance bargain the corvette is, that if you're willing to put your body on the line, a motorcycle will destroy just about any sports car in a straight line for a 1/3 of the price in this case.
With a rider like that, yes! I'm sure i would loose to that corvette on that bike hahahaha
@@edcunhaph but you'd come damn close for 40 grand, hell, even a base v4 panigale will get you a decent way there for the price of a new economy car
A new King claims the throne. Not an American Ferrari, just American. Thank you.
I giggled mischievously with Jason at the ending scene, genuinely looking forward to the next drag race.
Looks like a Lucid Sapphire in our collective viewing future...
So beings this is a naturally aspirated race, he's going to have to LS-swap a Lucid.
I still cant get over how cool the end of the race is when the cars just stop then get filmed slowly rolling! Such great production!

As a long-time Chevrolet and Corvette fanboy, even I underestimated what this car was going to deliver, WOW!!!
It’s criminal to call this a Corvette because it’s mid/engine and it is the best Corvette they’ve ever made.
Still has yo go against its benchmark. The GT2RS. It beats that I'm impressed, but so far it's doing what it should for its range.
The LT6 is underrated. Chassis Dyno testing has shown 640 at the rear wheels. This engine is putting out well over 700 at the flywheel. The 6.2 LS is underrated in the regular C8 as well.
@@JoeOvercoat not like the father of the Corvette had the CERV cars or originally intended for it to be mid engined to begin with
