    I have now changed my transmission filter twice in less than the amount of time that GM says you should do it once... This is needed far more often than GM claims. Have you changed yours yet? 🤔

      @HorsePowerObsessed do you think GM overestimated the mileage intervals of the transmission filter? I have been looking around to find out issues showing up with the c8 around 20k - 35k mileage after hearing from you and Brink of Speed about transmission issues, and then getting an unpleasant experience of my own.

      Traded my MY23 C8 Z51 for a MY24 C8 Z06/Z07 two weeks ago and this video is great!
      I'm not convinced about the DCT filter flush, especially like you showed with your filter, if it's already dirty and you do the flush procedure, I wonder if it doesn't go into bypass mode and just dump all that sludge into your valve bodies. And the need for the initial DCT filter change may be far earlier than just 7.5k miles. Great video, thank you.!

    Great video, Justin! I have 2400 miles on my 2023 C8 Stingray and still can do the free oil change and transmission filter change before it expires. Sounds like you definitely recommend doing that even early instead of waiting until the mandatory 7500 mile transmission filter change. Didn’t know if changing the trans filter earlier than 7500 miles would hurt anything. I’ll still do it again at 7500 miles per GM requirements but you’re probably right that “over maintaining” isn’t a bad thing especially if you want it to last. Any other words of wisdom or advise? Thanks again for a great channel! 😁👍

      Hey Justin, I know it’s kind of late, but I just found out that the transmission fill plug is right above the filter housing. The oil kit came with that yellow O ring, which is for that plug. If you are anal, you could fill up the lost tran’s oil via that plug!!!

    I wish somebody would make a transmission filter panel to be able to remove a few bolts to make it easier to change the transmission filter. This way you don’t need a lift to do it. I need to change my and my local dealer wants more than a grand to do it. A local transmission shop is quoting me $600. I know i can do this myself I just don’t want to do it laying on the ground pulling all those bolts out. Oil change is not a problem on the ground.

    I have 1900 on my C8 Z06 and I got a P0700 code yesterday and my car wouldn’t shift out of 1st gear. That code is related to the “transmission”. Going to be changing my Filter ASAP
    In the meantime I cleared the code just like a corvette tech instructed me to do and drove it hard. Everything seems to be fine for now. He said 9 times out of 10 you just need to clear the code and drive it hard and it fixes the issue,
    still very concerning.

    • @HorsePowerObsessed
      @HorsePowerObsessed  7 місяців тому +3

      100%! I've seen that a bunch with this car. If you don't drive it hard, it can misfire (carbon buildup on plugs) and all kinds of weird stuff. I give my car a good hard rip every single time I have it out.

  • @STiStein
    @STiStein 7 місяців тому +1

    You know I wonder if you resetting the transmission filter maintenance setting makes it shift better as a way to get you to service the vehicle more frequently. Not saying the filter doesn't allow it to shift better for whatever reason but to me that makes more sense coming from these car companies in the year 2024.

    • @HorsePowerObsessed
