I’m obsessed with you (in a noncreepy way lol). Your channel has been such a oasis for me because I feel like I really identify and relate to you. I’m expecting my long awaited second baby (my first is 6 years old!) and I also work in a hospital as a chemist & am now starting curly girl bc I want something simpler and also to demonstrate to my daughter and baby 2 what it’s like to accept yourself and treat yourself (and hair) kindly and with intention. Thank you so much for these videos

You are so fantastic. So real. So encouraging. Obviously it’s a real “first world problem” to be stressed or consumed with the difficulty of transitioning to ones natural hair texture. But it’s something experienced by so many. And your way of viewing that (and it seems, the world in general) is just beautiful. Thank you for making these videos.

Hi Susie! Love your videos and so appreciate the thought and time you put into them. Thanks for all your goodness, sincerity, and happy encouragement. You simply rock, girl! Cape Breton is an amazing place, too. Several years ago, my husband and I, along with friends, hauled our little fiberglass trailers form the mountains of North Georgia up to your beautiful island and camped for 2 weeks. Total bliss. We drove the Cabot trail several times and even made it up to Meat Cove. I fell in love with the scenery and the cultural history. Y'all celebrate both so well! Just starting my cg journey, after decades of denial, so all your advice has been well used. We have similar hair and attitudes and while I enjoy watching what others post, you are my go to gal for tips. Looking forward to your future offerings and wishing you and your family all the best~

I adore your videos! I just stumbled across them because I’ve been researching CGM and I absolutely love your open and honest approach to the whole thing. I just recently cut all my hair off, pixie length, mostly motivated by the fact that my hair was driving me crazy. Of course after I cut it I learned of the curly girl method and it clicked that my hair was driving me crazy because I didn’t know how to care for it. As I grow it out I’m focusing on making sure it’s healthy to encourage my natural waves.
I’m a nurse as well! It is such a rewarding career! What sort of nursing do you do? I’m a labor & delivery nurse but I just started my masters degree to become a nurse practitioner.
I live in NY but I’m about 20 minutes from the boarder to Quebec!
Keep up the wonderful work! I cannot thank you enough for all your advice!

Hey Ashley, thank-you for your comment. Your hair will be so gorgeous & healthy. I can’t wait until all of my colour damaged hair is gone. My husband & I are both RNs in Perioperative services. He is an OR nurse & I work on a post surgical units, mainly orthopaedics. I’d love to do my NP some day. I actually worked in medical device reprocessing for almost 10 years & just went back to university & did my BScN at 30years old 😬 I love it 💕

I want to thank you on behalf of all your patients for your caring approach to nursing. My husband has had many health problems/surgeries, etc., over the last dozen year--with yet another surgery next week. After spending so much time being hospitalized, we quickly came to realize that good nurses make the difference between having day when he felt cared for and helped in the healing process, versus a day where he had to protect his own best interests because a nurse was having a bad day or had an "attitude" which brought tension every time the nurse entered his room. Luckily the vast majority of nurses are wonderful. Even years later we still remember several of his nurses because they were so exceptional and kind when we were at our lowest. We are so grateful for good nurses!

I completely agree about not having to be an adult too soon. As a kid I didn't really get to be a kid and I was constantly told that I needed to grow up. I felt like that held me back from experiencing a lot of things in life because I was that good two shoes kid who did what she was told to do but I never did what I wanted to do. I moved away from my parents at 16 and I am currently in that stage where all my friends are doing well but I am struggling to make this adult life work out. Your video is ... destressing?, its good to know that experiences like this are shared. I am going to continue working hard out here :)

If you want to colour, I would recommend using henna. It's CGM-safe, it actually benefits the hair and it even works as a deep cleanse and gets rid of any build-up.

Thank you for the great video Susie, it's great to see how far you've come in both your personal and curly hair journey! I have one question about how you style your hair for work since you are nurse. I work in the medical field too and for practical reasons like to keep my hair up (it's similar to your length). Do you have suggestions for more protective stylings that won't make my hair flat? (my curls are 2b-2c with the curls and I am a few months into going natural) Thank you and please keep those videos coming - you have a great sense of humor :)

It was a great video and you are a hair goal/inspiration for me. I have been following the cg method without the scrunch and microfibre towel for about 4 years. I’ve been scrunching and using micro fibre travel towel for about 10 weeks. There is definitely a change but don’t have the desired curly-ness yet. Maybe I just don’t have curly enough hair!
Anyway, while you are inspired by others, I am inspired by you. Thank you for the videos! 🙏🏽😋

You love Montréal. I am from Montréal! (although I live in California at the moment)
I found and subscribed to your channel a few weeks ago and started the Curly Girl Method right about then. I love how well you dive in all the various and numerous aspects of the process, no matter the focus. I did not think I was a wavy hair person, always had straight hair all my life and even used perms for just over a decade. Turns out I am about a 2B! I would have 2 questions for you.
1- How long was the transition for you? How does one know it is done transitioning?
2- When my hair is wet, it looks it can curl more than once dried (like a 2C/3A), is it normal? Is it something I am doing? Can I obtain that a more curled state or is it perfectly normal to curl more when wet and it goes down a notch once dried?
    Thank you!

I have one question though ;p after you come from the pool do you just co wash or do you use low poo shampoo? I am asking because I just started using your method and pretty much the same products, not seeing great results, yet being patient, but because its almost summer in Dallas we are going to the pool a lot and I am not sure if the chlorine or pool residue on the hair will go if I just did cowash with suvave coconut conditioner.. also I use a little bit of oil to my hair just before I get into the pool..please advice.. thanks

Hi girl, I've seen a couple of your videos on the squish to condish method and I've tried it for the first time last night. Now I'm definitely not a curly girl, more like a never knew I had waves type, my hair is very light and after rinsing out say 80% of the conditioner (no other products) it felt quite heavy. Now in the morning it was a glorious surprise and it feels quite light again today. I was just wondering are those other post-conditioning products necessary? What do they add? Does your hair also feel heavier when it's wet and drying? Thank you for sharing your videos :)

Your hair may feel heavier simply because it’s moisturized... or you may have to rinse more, but it’ll be trial & error. I find wavy girls need to shampoo at least once a week. Also, I only really use gel to help with definition & frizz. It wouldn’t hurt to try.

Hi there! I've just discovered your channel, so apologies if this question has been asked before, but I was wondering what you wear on your head in the winter time? My 4 year old daughter has curly hair, and her hair was a disaster last winter. She was wearing a fleece lined tuque which kept her ears and head super warm, but it did a number on her hair. We're in eastern Ontario [but originally from the Maritimes ;)], and it gets super cold here. I've seen the warm slaps from Grace Elayae, but the company is based out of California, so I'm not that confident that it would be warm enough for our winters here. Thanks!

I have 2b hair, at least that’s what it seems like lol. I wonder how much curlier it’ll look if I keep to the CG method.... I’m know I’m going to try a new gel soon, the kind I just tried to start using this past week I saw had alcohol and I wonder if that’s why my hair feels so gunky at the end of a day. I only got as far as 2 day hair because it just feels so thick, not smooth, and tangly. It gets so tangly in the shower 😕

Hi Susie... do you ever scrunch out the crunch with an oil? Curious the difference using an oil versus just your hands or tshirt. Thanks in advance :)

Curly Susie, I love your videos! Thanks for having easy and affordable advice. I just started on the curly girl method about a month ago. I have very "wiry" or coarse hair. The shaft of the hair looks flat (as in not round) and twisted. The hair itself curls but frizzes up out of the rest of my hair as soon as it starts to dry, even with gel on it. I think it is high porosity because when I used to get streaks bleached and dyed a few years ago it would take hours for it to soak in. Could you tell me if I need to moisturize or use protein to calm the wiry hair and keep it from sticking out? The SheaMoisture products I'm using make my hair feel grimy by the end of the day.

Hi there, one question: how do you deal with not being able to brush your hair anytime you want to? I'm thinking of going curly - I have a natural curl - but not being able to use a brush every morning and evening bothers me. Thank you!

What beach is that? It looks familiar. I'll never forget my vacation there. The people there are incredibly nice, I also had a roommate from Cape Breton. We also visited Prince Edward Island which was amazing except for the horseflies!!

How do you wear your hair when you exercise in order to maintain the curls? Do you usually wash your hair after every time you exercise? xx

    • @CurlySusie
      @CurlySusie  6 років тому +2

Hi Martha... it depends on what type of exercise ... but to be honest I normally exercise very early in the day (Pre-Shower) & if I exercised in the evening I’d probably just leave my hair in a ponytail. Many people will wet or refresh their hair though.
