      Hey!!! It’s a super cool funk cover band called Scary Pockets. They do funk covers of pop songs featuring all different vocalists. I love them & they gave me rights to use their musical intro.

    Pippi Longstocking's horse is named "Lilla Gubben" in Swedish - which literally means "Little old man", but we use it as a term of endearment, like calling someone "honey".
    Great video! I just started my curly girl journey yesterday. Excited to see what results I might get later on. :)

    I sure hope 35 isn't too old for a messy bun. I'm 74 and love my hair that way, especially in the hot humid summer weather. My 65 year old sister-in-law wears her hair that way too. Thanks for the other suggestions. I wish I had your volume.

      Well, I'm way older and am growing mine out for a messy low bun. I see all the younger people wearing them now, so no shame. I always thought a bun like that was for old ladies. My how stuff changes.. lol.

    The little baby claw clamps work awesomely and are easily hidden like bobby pins, but they NEVER slide out like pins do in my hair (and yes, I've tried pins every which way to stay in, but my slippery locks don't hold them!). The baby clamps come in 3 sizes and match your hair color, and they stay put until you take them out! Thanks for the styles ... love your pony tail!

    • @CurlySusie
      @CurlySusie  6 років тому +1

      I’ll have to try some smaller ones!!

    • @KODoch48
      @KODoch48 6 років тому +2

      Curly Susie - They’re super small and come multiple to the package. I know that bobby pins seem to work great for you, but I was wondering whether they worked their way out sometimes, as your hair looks so heavy and voluminous (truly beautiful!)? Anyway ... those little claws can create the best up do’s and are “weight defying,” truly mighty -Lol! I like to keep them closed until I bury them in the portion I want attached to my crown hair, then open/grab/close, if that makes any sense! Thanks for replying Susie, and hoping for a little “angel delivery” to you in the near future! 💞

    I just love this!! Thank you. Because now that I'm leaving my hair natural, I'm at a loss when I'm styling the way I did when I curled or straightened. Blah!!!! I like doing the braids, too. Sometimes it's a single sideways braid with fringes hanging to accent. And the messy bun!!!! I always pull through, and NO it doesn't look as good. Besides, it's pulling my curls out. The pin up is awesome. Thank you a ton for sharing!

    Oh honey, I'm much more than 35 and always rock the messy bun on days off!! (and fellow nurse here -- knew I liked you!!) Can't believe I'm going to try this curly thing, but if I can get my natural "Irish girl 'fro" actually turn into soft waves/curls, and give up my sleek & straight, it could be interesting...

    Omg, I can't believe I'm only just now seeing this! I've been trying to figure out how to put my hair up for work for MONTHS! I work at a hospital too actually (I'm a CAT scan tech). I have finally made the switch to cloth scrunchies instead of regular ol' elastics, but they never keep my hair up for long and I usually give up and take it down. I need to get myself some of those invisibobbles...I keep seeing them everywhere!

    "Is 35 too old to wear a messy bun?" Life is too short for that kind of thinking. Free yourself, young lady. ;-) This was a great video of alternative looks, and I am 57. Which ones should I not wear? Luckily I work with small kids and they love the silliest of looks too.

      KO-Doc48 haha, yes!..the older we get, the ‘messier’ and more real we become! I just wish I realized how crayvy my hair was sooner than just a few years ago. Back in the 80’s, I often wondered why my perms lasted so long, duh..

      Stanka Kordic - Haha - I had the same exact realization about those perms of the 80’s!! One day I realized that my hair actually was as curly as the perms I was getting, when a girlfriend was talking about her “straight roots,” and the light bulb went on .... I NEVER got straight roots 🤔😃! So funny what we go through!

    I found your channel about 2 weeks ago and wish I had found you before I had the "Big Chop" done. My hair was down to my waist and I was so frustrated with it. It was always a huge frizzy mess. I knew my hair had some wave to it but never knew until I fell into the rabbit hole known as "Curly Girl" that my hair is a 3b & 3c mix...so far. I've been doing the curly girl method for 2 weeks now and I'm fighting the urge to go for my 4th hair cut in the past 2 months. First 3 were because I went from my long hair to just above my shoulders, cut 2 was because cut 1 left my hair so uneven (2-3 inch difference) cut 3 was at the local barber shop because yet again cut 2 was uneven. He did a great job but since I started the curly girl method it's uneven again but I know this is a process now and I'm only at stage 1. Thank you so much for your videos...they really keep me going. Good luck for #2...i hope it happens soon. 😁

    I just found your channel, Susie and I love it. your hair is very similar to mine. I am not hesitating. I started the curly hair method today. I've trained my hair for the past two years to tolerate only washing it a couple of times weekly. But I've been using dry shampoo and it's not always great. I feel like I can take my hair to the next level of healthy with this method. you are so relatable and down to earth. I'm from Maine, so I get the accent being a novelty to folks. 😉 I too have been worrying that having long hair for my age is wrong, I'm 48. But i wear it back at work. U feel like I'm taken more seriously when I do. ☺️ My Uncle us from NS, Tusket. He's lives in Boston for years now but maintains his Acadian French accent, which is quite different from yours. Lol. Keep up the good work on your channel. Your son is adorable!!

    Great tip on making sure there's volume and curl at the roots! I've been noticing that when you wear your top hair back you wear it loosely and I made a note...I normally try to smooth my hair back but of course it just ends up bumpy. I shouldn't need to back comb to get volume on top, I just need to work with my curls a little more!

    Great video Susie! I will definitely try these hairstyles on my hair, just need to buy those bobby-pins :-)

    I've been using the curly girl method since I was (just know it's been more than 15 years) and my hair has never looked that good. I chopped it all off not too long ago and I'm growing it back out now; can't wait to try the messy top bun! I just figured curly girls couldn't do it.

    I loved this video! You are too funny and cute! I just tried the CGM for the first time and it is of course a wavy mess! My daughter keeps asking me why I didn’t brush my hair! lol! I’ve got to buy myself some bobby pins and “ pin the $#!t out of it”! 🤣

    Hello im a nurse too so I loved this! Normally for work I only do a tight almost no curl ponytail that makes my hair soo dull and weird when you take it out. And then I have to do it the same way next day because my hair looks so bad 🙃😅 or a french braid. That looks a bit better. Im gonna try do a ponytail like yours tomorrow for work 🙂 I also have a baby boy like you🤗 but Im Swedish 😁 I really like your channel so just wanted to say hi! 👋

      By the way Pippi longstocking (also swedish! 😉) her horse’s name is ”Lilla Gubben” in swedish witch translates to ”The little old man” but I dont know his actuall English name 🐎

    The twin braids at the end could be turned into a work-appropriate updo by pinning them up either over the top of the head in milkmaid braid fashion or crossed behind the head. Depending on how long your hair is and how much it will wrap/overlap, you can achieve a sort of faux crown braid effect depending on how you place them.

    Oh wow, this is EXACTLY the video I was looking for! I’m an RRT in the prairies and am new to the CGM. I need ideas of how to put my hair back and up as I work in Emergency so I really need to see what I’m looking at.
    I thought your accent was Irish haha But now that I think of it, you do sound exactly like one of the Nova Scotian colleagues I have.
    You’ve got yourself another subscriber! But if I were you I would not say to thumbs down your video haha.

    I know Ive seen one of your videos where you say what hair products you use but I forget. What products do you use and are they sulfate, paraben and silicone free?

    Love these ideas. What do you classify your curls as? 2b, 2c, 3a? I have curls just like yours. Do you have dry hair too?

    • @CurlySusie
      @CurlySusie  6 років тому

      I have mostly 3A but the top layers have a lot of 2C waves in there. My hair,skin,scalp is dry!!

      @Curly Susie Great! Thanks for the response. Now I know I can probably try the products you use and have good luck with them.

    I enjoy your videos so much, especially because you keep things simple, and I’ve been spending way too much time (and money!) on my hair since starting CG three months ago. I’m eager to try these styles since my hair is now about the same length as yours and I live in the hot, humid US south and need styles that keep my hair off my neck. Oh, and Pippi Longstocking’s horse doesn’t have a name in the books, but in one of the movie adaptations he is called little old man, so you were right! I loved those books as a kid :) Looking forward to more videos!
    PS You’re never too old to rock a curly bun! I love that look!
