  • I FINALLY PULLED THE TRIGGER AND ORDERED THE 56MM BBK THROTTLE BODY. THIS THING IS BEAUTIFUL AND DEFINITELY WOKE UP THE BRONCOS ACCELERATION. JUST ONE PROBLEM. I STARTED GETTING AN ANNOYING WHISTLE ANYTIME I WOULD TOUCH THE GAS. AFTER LOOKING AT FORUMS I DECIDED TO TAKE THE DREMEL TO IT AND SMOOTH ANY SHARP EDGES. TURNS OUT THE IAC PORTS NEEDED SOME SMOOTHING AND BAM!!! NO MORE WHISTLE!! ENJOY!!

    I've read about the whistle issue in a couple places. You need to polish (use rotary tool) where the IAC valve goes to eliminate any whistling noises due to uneven surfaces. It needs to have a smooth surface.

    I put the Twin 61mm TB on my F250 and I used a Transdapt spacer aswell but I modified it from 61mm's to 56mm's as years back I increased the twin 45mm throttlebody to 54.25mm's in the front[inlet]and 56mm's in the rear[outlet] and also ported the plenum with a sandblaster w/coarse sand then also ported the intake manifold when I changed the intake gasket and saw that the Edelbrock #3881 intake had a 56mm inlet so I ported the stocker to twin 56mm's..
    If anybody knows about HVAC you know how fluid dynamics work[yes!;- air is a fluid!!]...With the exception to the 54.25mm twin inlets that I modified to twin 56mm's the 61mm increase then the 56'mm taper down effect increases air pressure..In your case it would be 50mm inlet/56mm flap w/outlet funnelling down to 45mm's... My Transdapt spacer stock was 52.47 inlet that tapered down to 47.53..
    The TB has a very heavy set of springs which made driving my stickshift very hard especially after doing the spherical heim joint mod to the pusher rod on the clutch to make it effortless[no more nylon bushing!!!]plus the disc flaps get stuck out of nowhere and adjusting the screw to open the flaps throws my TPS out of whack.Theres no tiny air holes in the flapper discs that help balance idle plus the flapper discs are twice as thick as the stock flappers plus the rod that activates the flappers was stuffed into the housing which is why they set the spring pressure so high also the lower bearing was binding from having grit inside i so I had to take off shield spray out the bearing then use a tiny dab of anti-seize on it before reinstalling the shield..There was no welch plugs to block off the vacuum for the vacuum lines as they just relied on the gasket to totally seal it which totally didnt so I modified mine with JB Weld.Sometimes on occaision the throttle would stay at 1000 rpm's and I thought air controller but turned out to be the flapper rod being stuffed in the TB meaning the slots for the discs to fit into werent wide enough for the flaps but someone at BBK made them fit......LOL..Then after fixing the TB I had to disassemble again because there was air leaks at the bearings that I stopped by using vacuum grease packed into the bearings..
    After taking the time to disassemble troubleshoot and modify a $400 part the right way and doing it very similar to the way the stock TB was setup my supposed to be plug n play $400 TB now operates buttery smooth with the same pedal pressure as stock,doesnt get stuck or throw off my flawless shifting techniques and works as its supposed to. but for how long its gonna last is still the biggest question...LOL

    You should order a throttle body from an 01 Bullitt mustang stock there 57mm and you have to do a little porting to the intake. But they fit perfectly.
    Or you can get the big throttle body and do a lot of porting to the intake.
    Good luck brother I have 3 Broncos of my own and always will 😎👍

      Msd cap and rotor kit #8482
      Msd ignition coil # 8227
      Bump up your cables to 8mm the brand really doesn’t matter they all worked the same for me.

    its awesome watching your rig come together man. I have a question on this video though.. I've been looking for a properly sized spacer for my BBK twin 56mm throttle body, but everything I've seen doesn't seem to fit up, its either stock or 61mm... You mention that the spacer is a little bit bigger and works well with the BBK, do you happen to have a part number for the spacer (I noticed in another comment you said it was a trans-dapt spacer, but want to make sure I get the right one)? Also, and you may not be able to answer this.. but I have an Edelbrock Intake I'll be installing with the BBK, do you think the spacer is even necessary?

    • @SORRYOUTEXPLORING
      @SORRYOUTEXPLORING  5 років тому +1

      Since you have the edelbrock intake manifold the spacer isnt needed at all. Your getting plenty of air flow. But I can get u the part number I'f you still want it.

      @@SORRYOUTEXPLORING If I don't need it I'll probably just pass, lord knows how much money I've already thrown into the project bronco so one less part to buy makes me happy. @@Edirty6 I found a few videos on smoothing out the idle hole in the throttle body so get rid of the whistle. Bbk machines the throttle bodies with really sharp rough edges so as air rushes past that edge it causes a whistle. A 10$ harbor freight dremel took care of the whistle.
