"My Name Is Viktor Reznov, and I Will Have My Revenge." That line had no significance when Spoken by Reznov. But it gave me the chills when The Campaign was played through Hudson's point of View. Simply one of the greatest FPS Games ever made.
Actually it makes perfect sense when Reznov said it. Steiner was a Nazi, which Reznov hated more than anything else, and the one who originally created Nova 6. Dragovitch and Kravchenko betrayed Reznov and used it to kill his best friend Dimitri Pachenko, then they brought Steiner on board as a new ally and left Reznov to rot in the gulag the rest of his life. Midshipaustin 14 Well to be fair we're still not sure if mason killed Kennedy but the campaign was phenomenal in every way. I didn't even bother buying bo3 and never played anything of the campaign, thankfully
This game singlehandedly captivated my interest in the Cold War, even though I only played the campaign last year after owning the game for 5 years. (I was never allowed to play campaign as a kid haha.) The entire idea of being a brainwashed sleeper agent that was reprogrammed is super interesting to me!
not gonna lie as a kid after finding out reznov was a Hallucination it scared the shit out of me especially that scene where your laying on the table and hes teleporting around talking to you. i couldnt walk upstairs to go to my bedroom because i was afraid reznov was going to get me😂
I dunno if someone already found this out but, another great detail in the campaign is in the Vorkuta mission. You couldn’t shoot Reznov or the game would end you. But afterwards when he’s there later on, you can shoot him as much as you want & nothing happens. Great detail of that I’d say
Black Ops 1 was my first cod game. I’m never going to forget logging in my account when brother got off at night and spend all summer sleeping during the day. And playing during the night.
Black Ops was also my first COD. Even though I was young at the time, I understood how important stuff was. Black Ops was one of the games that taught me and showed me good storytelling and whatnot. I didn't have internet at the time, so I just played multiplayer with a friend or my dad usually. And then there was Zombies.... It scared the hell out of me. It doesn't scare me anymore, ever since BO2 and I played that with some friends and whatnot a long time ago, although some shit is still creepy, i'll admit when I was younger I COULD NOT play Zombies. Although, I probably could've learned how to play and whatnot and enjoyed it if I wasn't so scared of the Zombies and Hellhounds. The only Zombies map that didn't scare me was Dead Ops. Now THAT was fun. Hope they make another Dead Ops style thing again for BO4, or a different Arcadey thing. Heh, imagine a Zombies Side-scroller, that'd be neat.
I thought the same thing, I mean it felt like him to do so maybe he had something against the Russians for some reason or some shit. Then again we didn't know his full personality and how nice he was until bo2.
I just recently played the blacks ops campaign again, and I noticed something that Mason says during the "Revelations" mission,He said "Oswald compromised", when I heard that I got massive chills.
"The wounds he sustained ensuring our victory should have earned him a Hero's welcome in russia, but Stalin had little need for Heroes..." Thats deep..
Step one: secure the keys Step two: ascend from darkness Step three: reign fire Step four: unleash the horde Step five: skewer the winged beast Step six: wield a fist of iron Step seven: raise hell Step eight: FREEDOM
COD is actually what made me a big war history buff in my teens, Black Ops is easily the best COD campaign, and dare I say it one of the most underrated campaigns in gaming history with two of the greatest plot twists in gaming history.
I can see where you're coming from but I think MW1 had the best campaign. BO1, for a game called "Black Ops," didn't have as much stealth and espionage as the title would imply. Still a great game all-around but I'm just a little bit disappointed with that.
This game was far ahead of its time. I have so many great memories playing split screen online with a friend all day and night. My favorite cod for sure
Call of Duty Black Ops 1, the best and most complete Cod game in the entire franchise! This game is so memorable and was such a big part of my childhood, and it truly inspired me to look up more about JFK and the Cold War! I hope Treyarch remasters finally this masterpiece of a game already!
Honestly, i don't see the reason why they should remaster it. It would be cool for sure, but i don't really see the need, it's not like resident evil 1 which made sense to be remastered because it was a goddamn polygonal game, but BO1? i don't really know
@@ascanioscarpati8538 I'm anxious to see what Capcom is going to do with Re4 remake. Sure they could do wonders with what they have now (graphically and gameplay wise), but seems everything I play now lacks spirit. Seems to be the case with every cod game as well. Oh well, let's wait and see :p
20:12 in the mission when you escape from the interrogation room and hudson explains everything to you, if you have the subtitles on Mason will say "Oswald has been compromised." pretty wild shit
The campaign of this game makes me have so much more of a range of emotions than any other Call Of Duty campaign. It's tense, horrifying, cathartic, and kick-ass, all in one package. A classic.
My first console was a ps3 and first game i bought was black ops. I liked it pretty well, but i recently pushed through again and I'm impressed how well it's held up, especially the campaign. Such a cool story. We were in the golden age of video games from 2008 to 2013 and didn't know it.
The history that this game covers makes it one of my fucking favorite games in the entire series and I'm surprised that no other COD game ever go back to the Cold War, one of the most interesting and complex parts of human history which defined the 20th Century after the firs two world wars. This is why I want a COD game or any other shooter to go back to the Cold War and touch on the conflicts of that era such as the tragically forgotten Korean War.
another fun fact: the second time you see reznov in the game you can see him go through walls, more specificly, using the animation when you go over a barrier.
@GamerMadness 0955 yeah... why did you need to tell that? that was the point of the fact and the person knew it because we´ve watched the video wich was explaining the plot.
the multiplayer menu theme is so nostalgic. i really wish i was back in that time. i didn’t worry about money, bills, work, or anything. waking up on a saturday morning and loading up that menu to play with my sister is something i miss dearly .
erik same my best memories were playing bo1 and bo2 every now and then I go back to play them. I still play call of duty but it will never be the same Wish I could be back
@@ellk1991damn, when black ops 1 came out it had more than 100 000 players online daily on ps3, more than 200 000 on the xbox. Call of duty really hit it low
That's what exactly happened to me, except when I was a couple years older, about 5 years ago, I replayed it and beat it. Best goddamn campaign in history.
Pretty dumb thing to feel ashamed about. Its like saying you feel ashamed for not understanding the value of a dollar before you had to earn your own money.
This was the final COD game that I obsessively played. I started with w@w, then absolutely fell in love with MW2, then BO1. Those 3 years were the most enjoyment, by far, I ever had in gaming. It saddens me to think I'll never experience something so fun like that ever again. Truly a magical time in gaming and I'm fortunate to have been a part of it.
*presses zombies in the main menu* *hears people converting to zombies& sees a zombie banging on the glass* *gets terrified* (as a kid playing for the 1st time)
This game also made you decide if you're a badass or not by difficulty. If you pick regular or recruit there is hardly any blood but when you go in on hardened or veteran you see blood and body parts tearing off
I remember playing the black ops campaign for the first time. It’s one of the few video game stories I was completely enthralled in. I played straight through and I loved it. Best cod story hands down.
This gives me goosebumps.. I was 10 back when this came out and I played litteraly day in day out. I have so many good memories of me playing S&D with people I met online. And of me playing Zombies on Kino Five and Acsencion. These memories will be with me forever and I'm very thankfull for these moments. Playing zombies till 3-5 at night. The thrill it gave me because it was dark outside was inmense. Modern Warfare 2 Black Ops & Modern Warfare 3 These were incredible games, and I'm glad I was able to play them. They made me the man I am today. I talked English with my entire friendslist (I am Dutch). I was able to speak fluent English by the age of 12 because of these games. Also I became very social and more confident, not cocky. Almost forgot, It's incredible how I made friends almost 9 years ago online playing video games and to this day I talk to them. Even went to meet a guy in London. This is a perfect example on how games can create & unite.
I was about 14-15 man. Some of the greatest memories of my life... I was in school and always had my homework laid out on the bed studying for my tests in between games and then playing all night like you said..
Brave comrades of Vorkuta, the time has come to rise against our oppressors! Today we show the hearts of true Russians! We have all given our blood for the motherland. We have answered her calls without question. We gave our youth, our hearts, our very souls for her protection ... as brothers, we fought side by side against the German fascists. We crawled trough dirt and blood and sand to achieve our glorious victory ... Not for medals, or glory, but for what was right. We fought for revenge ... And when Berlin fell, how did our leaders repay us? We returned not to rapturous welcome ... but to suspicion and persecution. In the eyes of our leaders we were already tainted by the capitalist West. Torn from the arms of our loved ones, we found ourselves here... this place... this, this terrible place. Here we have languished, with no hope for release... No hope for justice. We have toiled in Dragovich's mines until the flesh peeled from our bones... We have watched our comrades succumb to sickness and disease... We have been starved. We have been beaten. But we will not be broken! Today, we will send a message to our corrupt and arrogant leaders. Today, my comrades... Vorkuta... BURNS!!!
That was one of my personal favorite missions. There were a lot of good ones like the Project Nova mission where you with Reznov and Dimitri fighting together one last time.
Black Ops 1 was the first COD game I played. It was with my brother on our old PS3. Years later, i hadn't really played any others and had forgotten which cod game i originally played. But I played BO1 again recently and all the memories came back to me.
Dear The Act Man, Once again this is ANOTHER BRILLIANT work my friend! Black Ops was BY FAR the best Call of Duty campaign ever as it was so in your face. World at War and Black Ops were the only games that truly didn't care what others thought. . On another note, I was wondering if you would consider reviewing Call of Duty Big Red one. I say this as I feel that game had the most memorable squad out there and figured you could break it down. Cheers mate! Sincerely, Qaaman A.K.A Q P.S. Those Bandit Keith references were glorious LOL
Thanks, man! Glad you enjoyed it! I might do a video on Zombies throughout all the games, not sure what I'll do next in terms of Call of Duty videos but we'll see!

Zach Must've not been too good on the sticks then. There's a reason why good players would consistently shit on bad players in BO1, and you could actually solo carry if you knew how to play.
20:12 also in “Sympathy for the Devil” which is played during a mission where the player controls Mason, there’s the line “I shouted out who killed the Kennedys, when after all it was you and me.”
I was in my freshman year of highschool when this came out. I remember still my mother randomly just coming home with the huge prestige edition and the rcxd car and I was so excited and happy. I loved this game so much. Good memories here
When I was 10 or around that age I remember I got good grades on my report card and my father bought me this as a present and man this fucking game will always go down as one of the best games I've ever played. Even if I just replayed the campaign a lot, I still had a blast with it.

I never noticed the footage of JFK's funeral playing on the monitors in the background and i've played the campaign numerous times. The Black ops campaign doesn't get anywhere near enough credit, not to mention that Gary Oldman's performance as the voice of Reznov really steals the show.
I just finished the campaign. (I know I'm 9 years too late but still) Reznov, that sneaky magnificent bastard. I loved him in waw. And the way he tricked everyone was just magnificent. And the moment when Mason just says "Cuba" and Hudson says nothing and just puts his shades Edit: Don't like this comment any further. Leave it like that.
Replace JFK with any other president that came after him and I'm pretty sure most people would wanna pull the trigger. Especially if that president is someone like bush.
i like how the campaign puts you in mason’s shoes. you’re in the same boat as him, you have no idea what’s happening and are being put into these past visions trying to figure out what happened
Cold War Alex Mason: *gets clapped by a platoon of Russians and some balaclava loser named Bell* Fr tho, Mason was a legend, feels like they did him dirty after BO2, like he got reserved to a backup for Woods and was just a side character in Cold War, he should’ve been the main character again with Sam Worthington
I felt zero emotional attachment to any black ops character. On the other hand to this day I still feel sad about Gaz dying in Cod 4. And he was a relatively minor character. But his AI was written so well that he would save my ass on the regular and his dialogue was awesome.
Honestly, Blops 1 is still my favorite CoD. Kowloon remains one of my top 10 favorite levels to replay in a game ever and the fact that they put so much effort into extras and bonus features is genuinely admirable. This is the type of game design the series has been missing for a looong time.
Black ops 1 remains to this day my favourite cod ever. The memories that I hold with some of these video games is crazy. I’ll never forget playing the countless hours of raw fun the game brought to me, God bless black ops 1.
This is the game that got me into play zombies. Black ops1 and black ops 3 zombies are probably my favorite games when it comes to zombies storyline and gameplay
id rather get one shoted by a weapon that actually takes skill, and not die every 5 seconds by a Famas, hands down the most cancer weapon ever made on a CoD game
@Zara for universal lord ironicly, i use ballistic knives as my secondary weapon in my sniper class, and is particulary quick scoping that take the most of skill in any CoD game, specially in BO1, or are you telling me that just pressing R2 with a full-auto weapon is harder than actually snipe? i know getting sniped is not a good felling, but snipers are the hardest weapon to use in any CoD simply because they are the most limited at everything, you have to wait for the scope to fully aim and that alone takes like 200-250 ms without mentioning that if you miss your shot is game over, you are dead
@Zara for universal lord well tecnically you are right, aswell as tomahawks or melee kills in general, but i was refering to principal weapons, like first options when you are about to start a gunfight
@Zara for universal lord if you constantly get to be the better player on the lobby while only using tomahawks and ballistic knives then you are either goated or have a great gaming chair, and i agree with you, everyone have the right to use whatever they like, if somebody is using a full-auto weapon while im using a sniper and that person is beating me because for me doing so, thats on me, im the one who made the desicion to take that challenge and try to one shot people who overall have more chances to kill me that what i do, and is ok, part of the reasons i like quick scoping is simply because is a lil bit harder than just runnin around with a SMG or whatever, im not asking for everyone in the match to quickscope with me, im asking for people to stop complaining about snipers by saying that they are "easy" while they are using the most basics weapons in the game such as SMG or AR, funny thing is that most people who says that are probably the ones ending up 2/12 when using a sniper...
I remember being in high school in 2010 and going to GameStop to buy this for full price. Hell, I still have the receipt inside the case with some of the print still preserved. I was so happy to spend my (then) hard-earned cash on such a content filled masterpiece. If they ever remaster this, I'll 100% buy it. Maybe in 2020.
MW2 was alright but the story made no sense whatsoever. You mean to tell me the Russia flew their entire invasion force over the EU without anyone noticing?

I can see where you're coming from but I think MW1 had the best campaign. BO1, for a game called "Black Ops," didn't have as much stealth and espionage as the title would imply. Still a great game all-around but I'm just a little bit disappointed with that.
It was great because it mixed modern day with future stuff even in bo2. But then they overdid it with the futuristic stuff.

Vorkuta... BURNS!!!

I always get goosebumps when I see that end picture with Mason in the crowd, it creeps me the fuck out and I love it
hey mr president you dropped this
Then .... Bam 💥 sniper round
Replace JFK with any other president that came after him and I'm pretty sure most people would wanna pull the trigger. Especially if that president is someone like bush.
@@danialyousaf6456 not unless your a snowflake who belongs in a insane asylum❄️❄️❄️😭😭😭
i like how the campaign puts you in mason’s shoes. you’re in the same boat as him, you have no idea what’s happening and are being put into these past visions trying to figure out what happened
Has anyone realized how deadly Mason truly is? I mean you add all of Reznov’s kills to Mason’s and Mason is essentially the Spanish Flu.
Then in rebirth island he did it on his own
Well, President John F. Kennedy did say that he was the very best that they had, anywhere.
He is basically the grim reaper
Cold War Alex Mason: *gets clapped by a platoon of Russians and some balaclava loser named Bell*
Fr tho, Mason was a legend, feels like they did him dirty after BO2, like he got reserved to a backup for Woods and was just a side character in Cold War, he should’ve been the main character again with Sam Worthington
ua-cam.com/video/8ZFasns_q4E/v-deo.html
Because of Woods
That simple
Too bad Ice Cube died midway through
YOU CAN’T KILL ME!!!
Woods.? You mean Reznov
I felt zero emotional attachment to any black ops character. On the other hand to this day I still feel sad about Gaz dying in Cod 4. And he was a relatively minor character. But his AI was written so well that he would save my ass on the regular and his dialogue was awesome.
weird way to spell reznov
"And his memory is more foggy than Snoop Dogg's bathroom." What a great line haha
was kinda cringe tbh
Zeeshhh well, different strokes for different folks, ey?
@@TheYeetusLord I've never heard of that phrase 😂
Zeeshhh really?? Wow fair enough then😄
I die out laughing when I heard it
Honestly, Blops 1 is still my favorite CoD. Kowloon remains one of my top 10 favorite levels to replay in a game ever and the fact that they put so much effort into extras and bonus features is genuinely admirable. This is the type of game design the series has been missing for a looong time.
The thunder gun!!!
The fact that Mason hallucinated pulling a gun at President JFK, left me a long mark in my memory back when I first played the game.
Did he hallucinate it? Makes you think.
It give me the chills
I remember that moment when I was little needing to leave the room when I was replaying the game because is scared the fuck out of me so much
i never realised how deep the Black Ops campaign was until i watched this video
Black ops 1 remains to this day my favourite cod ever. The memories that I hold with some of these video games is crazy. I’ll never forget playing the countless hours of raw fun the game brought to me, God bless black ops 1.
This is the game that got me into play zombies. Black ops1 and black ops 3 zombies are probably my favorite games when it comes to zombies storyline and gameplay
13:20 I just noticed, Reznov's right hand is missing his trigger finger, which means he'd have to learn how to shoot with his left hand
I could actually have fun in the multiplayer because I wasn’t getting quick scoped every 5 seconds.
God isn’t this true. Fucking quick scoping is a cancer.
id rather get one shoted by a weapon that actually takes skill, and not die every 5 seconds by a Famas, hands down the most cancer weapon ever made on a CoD game
If they remaster this, hopefully they would also remaster Cod:Black ops 1 DS since it has a decent story
The game doesn't need a remaster, if there's nothing wrong with it.
I was watching why is world at war so good and I'm like he needs to make a new vid World at war ended and i see this
Now for MW2
MW2 was alright but the story made no sense whatsoever. You mean to tell me the Russia flew their entire invasion force over the EU without anyone noticing?
49mozzer no one cares about the story
except the story also sets the setting for the multiplayer.
49mozzer multiplayer was amazing
3:46
Same exact story with me. I would always play the campaign for the gamer score and leave but now I go back and play black ops/WAW while being a history buff and I truly love it.

just took everything we hated about mw2 and made it worse, then added new aids shit on top of it. we hated martyrdom in mw2, they gave us the dead mans nuke with a 60 foot blast radius in mw3

@@vapordreams983 like i said, to each his own bruv.
black ops 1 was the first cod i played from release date. and it has the fondest memories for me. I played for years. Zombies, multiplayer, story. I loved it so much.
SacredSlaya Same. Even play it this year once in a few months. But it's ruined by hackers. Graphics are still amazing tho
It was my first COD too and I'm glad it was. Easily my favorite out of the series (right next to BO2) and imo the best cod ever.
It had a great Campaign, The Multiplayer was amazing and had a great system to unlock things, and it’s Zombies was just awesome. That’s why it was so fucking awesome
A Random Silas I’m reporting you because multiplayer isn’t supposed to be capitalized.
A Random Silas Ikr! :)
A Random Silas I still play bo1 on my ps3 sometimes. Mostly on zombies now, sweet nostalgia.
bo1 amazing multiplayer? how???
i tried playing this game recently,... and the multiplayer is just horrible..
how did you endure the horrible game balance and fun-breaking killstreaks like chopper-gunner and SR-71? how do you cope with the fact that all none-autmatic weapons in this game are worthless?
Yosef Yonin getting good
The Fact that you get put straight into The Five Zombies map right after you beat the campaign was great. I remember the first time I played the map and I was terrified. I thought it was going to start as some sort of wave defence mode while being swatted by some foreign military. But then i heard and eventually saw, the zombies.
