Shame his career was ended over some nonsensical allegation that had no substance.. House Of Card's was quite amazing too, up until his fucking wife became the protagonist and what not.. And his previous work was gold 😔
I know right 😮 I played it for the first time like I would say 4 years ago, I was not interested in mw 2019 and was in a buying previous cod streak and couldn’t stop and visually it was one of the most impressive campaigns I played without talking about ww2 and ghost campaign (yes I loved ghost campaign )
If they had just switch the characters of Mitchell and Will, this story would have been so much better. You join the military with your best friend Mitchell, and he gets killed. You then go to his funeral with your dad, Irons. You then get a new arm and start fighting for your Dad's army. you then find out that your dad inevitably led to your friends death by sparking conflicts just so he could become powerful. This gives you a hatred for your dad. Eventually killing him an avenging your friend. The fact that it's your dad you have to kill makes it so much more emotional.
I think that would be a nice idea but I still love the actual story of Advanced Warfare to be honest. I just love Mitchell as a character. I also think the whole story revolving around the Atlas Corporation is also pretty well-done too.
I don't really play campaign, so half of this video does not count for me. I like the exo movement, the supply drop system, the increased customization, etc.
Why not? I’m not judging you but sometimes the campaign is the best part of the game. The original games up to MW1, Infinite Warfare, and BO2 are perfect examples of this.
The one thing I couldn't stop admiring about advanced warfare was the attention to detail in audio design. I fucking LOVED the sound of crackling pieces of glass under your boot, the "micro crackling" sound the guns make when swapping, the sound of his bionic arm when it recalibrates. Advanced warfare dominated sound design until the modern warfare reboot.
The guns sounded a lot better too. Really futuristic. Lethal but slick is how i can only really describe it. Like ghosts was good for that too, those guns sounded meaty and crisp.
Yeah AW has a hard on for crackling glass sound. I think 90% of the campaign you hear it lol. But it is pretty good. Also love the sound the exos make when using melee
The zombies for AW is extremely underrated and actually presented the first blueprints for Cold War’s Zombies style. There was a lot of innovation, new power ups, great bosses and awesome random drops like a Titanfall style mech you could get in. Decent is one of the best maps I’ve ever played and I am a huge Zombies fan since the World at War days. If you haven’t played AW Zombies, please give it a try because it’s really fun and you will find a lot of enjoyment from the experience.
It's very good but I feel half the guns suck in that mode or the zombies are way to powerful past round 7. Also, the map design for Outbreak leaves a lot to be desired
Act man: general Shepard, take it away General Shepard: " 5 years ago my soldiers were using earbuds with poor sound quality, and the world just fucking listened"
Imagine if the first few missions you played as Irons in his youth fighting in a much earlier war, seeing all his friends die around him, and he uses that as his motivation to build Atlas so that kind of thing doesn't have to happen again, and over the course of the campaign you find out how his ideals were twisted by the reality of the world until he turns into the evil Tony Stark that we got.
Haha, also, why is it that this game is so forgettable, that I rarely ever hear about people who talk about this game being ba. Whenever I hear people talk about bad COD games, they don't really mention this one.
Fans: We want something different, we get the same game every year. COD: Here's advanced warfare with a bunch of new different features. Fans: WTF WHY IS THIS GAME SO DIFFERENT!!!!!!! I loved advanced warfare it was a nice change of pace. Where they went wrong was having the next 3 games also having futuristic themes and movements. There are 3 studios making COD games, if each studio did a different theme we would have a good variety in the annual releases. One studio could make WW2/Vietnam/etc, another studio could make modern warfare games, and another studio make futuristic style games. This would mean each year we get something new and fresh.
Darth Tony I couldn't said it better. People like the game in the past but when the other 2 or 3 futuristic games come out people just forgot how fun AW was.
Something id like to point out is how creative the designs are. The exosuits look cool and the weird face masks for the marines in the first mission look great. The walking tanks have such a great design and sound. The drone swarm in the first mission moves really cool. The gun designs (though some are pulled from previous games) are creative and interesting. The grenades are super cool and creative. I have nothing but respect for the art team for AW. (Also a small detail you probably missed: in the funeral, you can see that the USMC insignia is different. It has the earth and an eagle biting an anchor in front of it instead of the usual eagle on top of earth and the anchor behind the planet.)
I can tell you why he didn't scream. When he was thrown off, his head hit the concrete. And just like the Joker says, "The victim gets all fuzzy. They can't feel the next--"
you ever realize that when a game, movie, book (for nerds) etc. runs out of ideas for names and they need to name a futuristic corporation, they name it atlas? I feel like the first game that did that was Borderlands unless im an idiot but seriously, there are so many of em
"There are 3 things I remember about Advanced Warfare. Kevin Spacey, it was the first futuriatic COD game, and F. F in the chat." Lowkey one of your best lines on thia channel.
Prior to this game's release, I remember COD being constantly bashed for doing the same shit over and over. Gotta at least give this game props for trying something new.
I find it interesting to see the contrast between your best friend dying in this game, and Sarah dying in The Last of Us. We knew Sarah for probably half the time we knew Will, and yet her death is heart wrenching, wearas I am pretty sure I actually yawned at Will's
Campaign was one of my favorite campaigns. When Kevin spacey said ”Ideas don’t determine who’s right. Power determines who’s right. And I have the power. So I’m right.” That sent goosebumps on my skin.
seriously - when people find simple philosophical ideas like this and present them as "omg this changed my life i can't believe i never thought this way before" it's like nails on a chalk board. how braindead were Y2J_Johan and his 89 dumb chums to consider this "enlightened"? it's baffling... the average intelligence and awareness of the world is always far lower than even our most pessimistic assumptions 🤷♂@@georgewhitworth9742
True. The lighting and motion blur really helped, as well as bloom 2.0. That and as well as the level detail are the only redeeming features of this game.
You can tell they wanted to make this into a series, since at the end he says something like "We killed Irons, but we knew our fight with Atlas was just beginning" But then...
Advanced warfare has an incredibly memorable campaign with unique missions and settings that I had never seen before in other games. I still go back and play the campaign over again every 8 months or so. However, I can safely say that I’m never naming my kid Mitchell.
The game didn't have that good of a campaign as it made no sense. Certainly, it was something out of the ordinary for a Call of Duty title, but when looking back on it, the game is simply an Anti-Corporate message. The first issue I have with the campaign is how do all the resources that Humanity depends on still exist in this future? The game takes place between the years of 2054 and 2061, and somehow humanity has grown to this advanced civilization with no border changes, climate change has been solved. In this universe, Electric Vehicles have replaced gas-powered vehicles, yet the world's militaries still have equipment that is dependent on fossil fuels. By the 2050s in this timeline, Earth's natural resources would have been depleted, and the needs of our planet would be greater than she could supply. This in turn would be a recipe for disaster across multiple countries such as Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Qatar, Kuwait, etc who are all dependent on that of the oil industry. Even worse for this scenario is it even states in the game itself that the fossil fuel industry is still thriving inside many countries, and in fact somehow Atlas managed to rebuild Iraq of all places from the ground up. Even worse for this game is that somehow the United States, the Peoples' Republic of China, the Russian Federation, etc are completely and totally ignored, or make no sense. In the opening of the game, you hear images of North Korea invading South Korea and somehow are able to do it with relative ease. The biggest and foremost question is how does North Korea still exists in this futuristic world. North Korea is not sustainable, and by this point in the future world that the game exists in, either North Korea would have fully collapsed and would have been absorbed into South Korea, or the most likely possibly be absorbed into that of the Peoples Republic of China. Yet the game makes no mention of this or takes it into account, and the opening conflict of the game makes no sense. This can further be attributed to the setting of where Atlas sets up its military headquarters, Baghdad, or "New Baghdad" Iraq. Iraq is one of the most religiously ethnic divided regions on the planet, and the developers only briefly mention that Iraq descended into chaos, and yet somehow Atlas managed to come out on top. Iraq wouldn't just be in Chaos, but the fact that it was a Private American Company rebuilding Iraq would go against many religious principles that are valued by the people in the region. Atlas wouldn't be living in happiness they would be dealing with a full-blown religious insurrection between the various Sunni and Shia Arabs and the Sunni Kurdish people. Adding onto the problems of this game are the villains themselves. First off, who is the KVA? They are only described as Anti-Western Anti-Technology Extremist groups from the Chechen Rebellions. First off, the Chechen Rebellion was instigated due to poor economic conditions and the ethnic nationalism that resulted from the fall of the Soviet Union. Does this mean that the Russian Federation has collapsed and there is an economic crisis going in Russia? If that is the case, then why are the KVA not fighting against the Russian Government? Even furthermore is an economic crisis in Russia would lead to the complete and total collapse of nations such as the Peoples Republic of China and the European Union, and it would instigate another recession, to say the least. Keeping with this pattern the KVA doesn't have a legitimate purpose as to why they are fighting for what they are fighting, and given that the group appears to have sustained amounts of military hardware, which brings up a whole other question as to how they got it and are able to operate independently to cause a World Wide Disaster such as this. The situation is further exacerbated when looking at the ATLAS Corporation. The first and foremost is how does a Private Military Corporation manage to grow larger than governmental bodies and is able to wage a global-wide conflict and profoundly make victories against some of the greatest world powers? In this universe, somehow ATLAS Corporation managed to hire more than 45 Million "Soldiers" and brainwash them to wage a war against their homelands, and Irons managed to hold out in the war for six months and develops his own WMD's in the process and wage a war against the largest powers in the world across all continents. The biggest issue is how does a Private Corporation grows this large without some kind of government intervention? If a company, especially an American one, manages to grow to superpower status and become more powerful than that of the Peoples Republic of China and the United States combined, that would lead to some serious international condemnation, which is never specified in the game, and the level of government corruption needed to create a company larger than that of the East India Company and richer than that of the East India company would be so great, that it would be capable of destabilizing entire countries. Funny enough this kind of corruption is not only mentioned in the game, it is also encouraged by the United Nations Security Council itself, which absolutely makes no sense considering in the United Nations charter, but the UN also cannot have any governing authority. Even worse for this is somehow ATLAS Corporation is able to unite the United Nations against them and mount World War III across all continents. This is highly improbable considering the moment ATLAS Corporation turned on the world, the security forces wouldn't receive payment and Irons would be using his fortune in a global-wide war. Further adding onto this is the game never specified what happened in those six months between the Mission Armada, and the mission Throttle. Six months passed in that timeframe between those two missions, and somehow the Atlas Corporation managed to do considerable damage to all the world's superpowers, and still maintain indigenous production to continue the war effort. In this universe what should have happened is after the San Francisco attack, the United States and their NATO allies would have declared war against Atlas, and then they would have been defeated in less than a month, maybe even a month and a half at most, and it wouldn't have been a global-wide conflict. This is game is further exacerbated by the plot for which the United States appears to be covertly fighting for. Literally, the United States is fighting ATLAS Corporation because somehow a Private Military Corporation is able to manufacture so many WMDs that it is able to wage a successful biological war. The biggest flaw with this is under the terms of the United Nations and the Geneva Convention is the manufacturing of WMDs (Nuclear Weapons, Chemical Weapons, etc.) has been strictly limited to governmental bodies. Corporations, not even Private Military Corporations, can manufacture Chemical Weapons and WMDs. Unless if international law has been completely abolished, which would have been an extremely dumb move, ATLAS would never have been able to acquire this kind of weaponry. Furthermore, the US, Russian, Chinese, British, and European intelligence I would assume would have found out about ATLAS's Weapon known as "Manticore" and it would have been exposed to the world way before the ending of the game, and the international court of justice would have been all over ATLAS. Furthermore, how does MANTICORE even exist? Manticore is described as a Biological Agent that is only designed to target specific genotypes, and anybody inside of ATLAS's Database would have been killed upon exposure. This is physically impossible, as Biological Agents are a series of bacteria, fungi, and viruses. You cannot simply manufacture a biological agent and then corrupt it with Human DNA so it wouldn't kill that particular person. Even if that were possible, Deoxyribonucleic (DNA) and Ribonucleic Acid (RNA) are mobile, changing over time through mutations and environmental influences, and receive over 1000 mutations in their genetic code that are not present in the different cells that surround it. Manticore wouldn't be able to take that into account, and so when Irons launches the Manticore in the mission "Throttle" not only would have the invading United Nations forces been wiped out, but also the ATLAS Mercenaries as well. And speaking of the United Nations, this brings me to my final point, how does the United Nations still exist? The United Nations is one of the most politically divided organizations on the planet. It's divided between multiple different ideologies and forms of government that make it very very ineffective in modern politics, the game never takes that into account. In this universe, especially in the 2050s and 2060s when this game takes place, the United Nations should have been dissolved or at least have been broken up into multiple organizations based on the political divisions of the world. In conclusion, this game is a very poor attempt at a futuristic military shooter. There are simply too many plotholes, too many unanswered questions, too many ignored realities, and simply just poor execution. I would much rather play Call of Duty: Ghosts or Modern Warfare 3 than this game.
@@BuckeyeNationRailroader damn what a read. I guess I agree with everything you said, it’s just not important to me personally if it makes complete sense. I mean, you have to be willing to stretch the imagination when everyone has jet packs and “drone swarms” are considered to be a worthy investment. Idk I just really liked the art and technology present. Made me feel like a super solder more than other CODS.
I actually really loved the multiplayer it was good and fast paced, not many people camping due to the movement, and if you mastered the exo suit it was amazing to jump around and gun anyone down
the exo also killed it for people i know i guy of threw away advanced warfare when he figured out being good with guns was enough, you had to be good with the exos
@@markfreeman4727 no I get where ur coming from, i personally adore advanced movement. Wall runs, double jumps and all that fun stuff mixed with some cool guns? Gimme that any day. Boots on the ground is nice and all but there's just something about being able to slide 50 feet then double jump into a 2nd story window that's just satisfying. Once u got the movement down and learn to use it in conjunction with the guns it's chaotic and just straight up fun

"What joy do you get in pressing a button and seeing your character's hand touch a coffin? What part of that is advance?" It's advanced enough for my college professor to start telling us to press F in his zoom chat whenever he makes a mistake.
I read a comment that sums up defending pressing f. YOU the player are actively paying respect to soldiers. It wouldn’t have been as impactful if you just sat there watching Mitchell paying his respects. Instead YOU are the one paying YOUR respects to the fallen.
13:38 Something that I want to point out here. My driving school instructor told me that a guy he and his friends rode their motorbikes with, while avoiding a car that didn’t see him, hit the guardrail in such a way that he severed his leg from the knee down. He saw everything from behind him, but the guy kept riding like nothing happened. When my instructor pulled him to the side of the road he remembers that he told him that he didn’t even notice and that he only felt a burning sensation, but not at all pain. I know what you meant in the video, and I know this is anecdotal, but just to provide some perspective it is sorta realistic.
Yeah, you get so pumped on adrenaline that sometimes you don't even realized you're injured until after everything's happened. It's happened to me before too.
I think the momentum of the game being bad led to that scene being bad but yeah I agree with you guys, plus it's Cinematic letting everything be so chaotic and your own words and mind is so quiet
I feel like there was a missed opportunity where Mitchell could've said to Irons "I will never give you one." As a response to Irons saying that he gave you a second chance with the arm replacement. It would've been so satisfying and pure savagery. Sadly though your character didn't talk except in cutscenes in AW.
@@mmm.3839 Lmfao it does feel dated holding a phone with a home button I've gotten so used to my S8+ which has a touch home button but also simulates a physical one by pushing on the spot harder it's out of sight yet is separate from touch controls in case the screen itself freezes or something. I can't picture needing an actual button with this innovation.
Its funny how my friend was so obsessed with trying to get the new guns from the lootbox system in this game, and a couple years later he remembered how he spent so much money for in-game content that would not matter.
One thing I’ve noticed about call of duty games is that despite them being rated M for a “mature” audience, people in those age ranges would not be as entertained by the storylines of the futuristic games as opposed to the titles based on real historical events, like the Black Ops series (excluding BOIII and so on). However, when I played AW in high school, I was much younger than 17 (which is majority audience for this franchise) and I actually was thrilled by the storylines because I wasn’t too aware of what bad writing was as a young kid. Nowadays when watching these reviews, I can almost see a huge difference In perspective as I age in life. Long story short, I think these games can be more enjoyable when playing them at a younger age and having less knowledge of how cinema works properly.
I also notice that too, people who hold onto games like these were 12,13,14 when they played them, and that creates a bias, as an adult I can look at every one of these cod games for what they actually are, and AW is worse than bo2 bo1 MW etc, but worse doesn’t mean bad and people get upset especially the ones who glaze a certain cod bc they sat there at a young age and were able to simply play it 24/7 when it was the new cod when you say that about these cods but that’s the harsh reality. You can love a game and stills admit it’s sub par to their counter parts older or newer.
They did work on MW3 after all. Actually, I noticed way before how both MW3's and AW's final missions are so much similar. MW3: You start with Juggernaut suits, shoot the helicopter with them then an accident happens and they become broken, you continue without them, you find Makarov but the helicopter stop you, Yuri is injured he can't continue with you, you throw 2 men of Makarov, Yuri arrive but ... Finally you go down with Makarov where he dies. AW: You Start with Exo-Juggernaut suits, shoot the rocket then the suits get broken, you continue without them, you find Irons but he hacks your Exo suits, Gideon can't continue with you, you throw a man of Irons, Finally you throw Irons down and Gideon arrives.
Honestly I thought this game had a good campaign and an interesting take on multiplayer, but what really killed me was it started the trend of supply drops and pay to win that plagued COD up until Modern Warfare this past year.
Same. I'm the type of person who doesn't see any problems with COD putting futuristic aspects into their games to be honest. As long as the campaign is good and interesting, I'm fine with that.
Well this game was The beginning of P2W crates, you know, getting The most overpowered weapon models of each type (Obsidian Steed, Speakeasy, RIP, The Doctor, Hole puncher, The infamous HBRa3 Insanity) even the DLC guns are broken (not all)
In my Opinion ww2 had the most in a sense fair supply drop system sure you can get a shit ton of weapons but it is mainly calling card emblems and camp or you can craft them and earn them from collections or you can supply drops from getting promoted complete certain task but you are on a time limit buying them is completely optional instead of making you pay and spend thousands of dollars if you want everything in the game like bo4 cod the amount of micro transactions in that game were rediculous
"First futuristic Call Of Duty" BO2 though Edit: if you want to get really technical, COD4 Modern Warfare was the real first one, given the time of game's events was 2011 and the title was released in 2007
I know read my comments I said I know Bo2 Takes place in 2025 then said other cods in order by time EDIT oh he was mocking the guy because he said aw was first oh sorry
Future cod game can work Things needed No connection to black ops or modern warfare In space Robot and boss fight Epic music playing when your shooting just like doom No lootbox Since the gameplay is futuristic The level design needs to be futuristic Zombie game mode need to be in 80s The main menu need to be a place where you can play arcade or just run in to campaign zombies or battle royale just like doom eternal campaign No doubt jump Waking on Wall is needed Flying things is need Hacking human or robots is need No dog models

Rileswithsoul I agree, Infinite Warfare just came out at the wrong time; if it came out before BO3, it would get much more praise. It just came out at the wrong time. Not saying it is better than BO3 (I do think it is though, besides the zombies).
BigNut _ I agree... but it sadly wasn’t. Apparently it was supposed to be very different when it originated, but it got rushed. I would love to see a prequel to it when the SDF left the UNSC, and the jet packs were not around, and the Synaptic bots were in production. Seeing new weapons being created, like the Claw or F-SPAR torch.
You honestly summed my feelings up on Ghosts, Advanced Warfare and Infinite Warfare perfectly. Though I actually enjoyed playing through all three they end up getting ranked low because they’re separated from the series. One offs where I’m not as invested in the characters.
I'll be honest, Irons offering Mitchell the business card at the funeral does add to his character, not caring about loss, but caring about how much war can be waged
@@davemac9563 yeah, maybe you don't agree with my assessment, but to improve Irons as a character (and the game as a whole) the game should have: Not made Atlas the bad guy. The story just ends up being "US being invaded and you've been betrayed, now fight for the US Army!". I think the US Goverment should have targeted Atlas for a PMC that rivalled the US Army, and after a few incidents of civilians accidentally getting caught in the crossfire, the US Government declares war on Atlas. I think throughout the story both sides need to be shown to have bad elements, so it isn't just good blue versus red bad. I think manticore should have stayed the same, except the "recipe" for it is stolen by US spies, and they fuck it up so it just turns into a deadly gas for all of humanity, instead of being used to target specific people. In short, I wished Atlas were largely good, the US government targeting them for rivaling their power on the world stage, and there were scenes of both sides fucking up like accidentally firing on a civilian target, killing POWs, etc.
I can understand Irons not showing much emotion at the loss of his son due to him being the CEO of a multi-million or even billion company, given that he shows some sort of emotional restrain and understanding the risk of being involved in the military. Showing the emotionally remorse later on and his intentions. I believe Irons wanted to have global domination and unite the world under one banner, similar to the Persians in 300. Also trying to have character depth in a war style game is difficult, having less is sometimes good. Halo Reach, and the first trilogy, did an excellent job being more plot focused than character in my opinion. They showed just enough to get a good idea of what each character portraits in the game. Do we really need a biography for every single character in a shooter title? If there's not enough, it's too little, if there's too much it's over the top in explanation. Sometimes writers have to somewhat "yell" specific notions of the overall story and backstory to the audience for them to have a basis for the current story to lie on. Won't lie, there really isn't much of the story that interest's me much besides the overall presentation. Problem was that the content behind the presentation was lacking.
This game was too overhated in my opinion. It stands as the first and my favorite call of duty game. I loved the campaign and playing with my friends on the jungle map. I hope they make another one 🤞🏻
I felt like the chaos was rlly fun and a new change of pace in the game. Everyone was complaining how stale the COD formula was getting so AW spiced things up and everyone still complained
AW didn't spice things up, AW converted COD into scuff virgin heaven with everyone flying everywhere making it unplayable by lack of map flow. The most crucial thing to any COD game is map flow. No map flow no COD
Average Alien Average Alien My 11 year old ass didn’t have a scuff and I did pretty well. Also what ur basically saying is things were spiced up cuz it was chaos. If me at 11 years old can play the game and compete then I’m sure anyone that wasn’t a straight bot could compete
Lol nothing changed same gun physics same animations same everything really just wall running and double jumping and some annoying small flying drone enemy's so basically some stuff 1 person could have did in a mod lol nice graphics tho........
I feel like I’m the only one who legitimately enjoyed this game. Was it perfect? No, but in an era where COD was constantly getting ridiculed for being the same thing every year, this game was a breath of fresh air
I really like Advanced Warfare. The multiplayer and zombies was fun and the campaign, while not the best story wise, was still serviceable and some of the missions were really fun.
I feel that youtube's algorithm just wants to steal your money, by not giving your cash for a video. Instead of improvement to be "family friendly" its just to steal cash and limit income. Smh

Honestly, I wish that irons wasn't shown as the villian right at the beginning of the game. It just sets the same theme of all of the cod games, its like every M. Night Shyamalan movie, there's a twist every movie that its just way to predictable. Red dead redemption 2 spoilers ahead: I would of loved irons to have a similar character structure as Dutch van der Linde in Red Dead Redemption 2. The reason is because he starts of as the 'father figure to the character' because he is nice to you and all of the characters and refer to him as a teacher. However, the more you go through the game you see his character become more unhinged and different to normal, such as how he leaves people for dead and only just get saved by the more sane members of the gang. So in conclusion I would love to have seen irons be less predictable as the main villian and be an actual twist that makes you drop your jaw both literally and figuratively. Thanks if you read this❤
@@fishfan2 but its still quite obvious irons was a bit messed up at the start, such as not mourning the death of his son. However Dutch was shown as the good guy and the leader
I really did enjoy the multi-player and campaign but more so the multi-player. It was different and I actually thought it worked. I honestly have such a weird love hate relationship with the customization in advanced warfare because I loved all the cool and wacky stuff but at the same time I couldn't stand it and I think it's because I was like 13 at the time and it was the first call of duty I really was able to sit down and play whenever I wanted to and just hop online and go for camos and what not. Looking back at this game if it came out today I'd hate it and I would have never played it lol but it's got a weird nostalgic feeling for me that makes me love it.
Dude we needed AW. All the other CODs feel like the same thing every year. AW was such a fun era, regardless of the hate, I never had issues finding a match. People complain about COD every year but the player base is always large enough😂
I think that it would have been a really really popular game but it came out in a time when people were tired of the call of duty games. People looked over it and bumped it in with the other future games (black ops 3 and infinite warfare) which I think is kinda unfair cause it’s barely even in the future lmao
I remember when they advertised the game as “COD in the future” and I was like, “So this just a less interesting version of either Halo or Unreal Tournament.”
Advanced Warfare was and, still pretty much is my favorite of the series. At least in AW if you get shot you have the ability to defend yourself. Where as in other CoD games the difference between life and death is whether you see them first or not. And this is an astronomical hot take, but I actually liked the legendary weapon variants. I remember getting a legendary LMG and it was so nice to use I dedicated myself to getting diamond on heavy weapons. It's just too bad the game was dead after 3 months
''This is Will, he's your best friend now.'' *20 minutes later* ''This was Will, he's dead now, would you like to commemorate him? Oh yeah, and your arm is gone'' *F* ''This is Kevin Spacey, Will's father, he so happens to own the largest PMC force on earth surpassing nations military's and he can offer you the most advanced prosthetic arm in the history of mankind, would you like to accept his offer?''
Imagine if at the point with Ilona where you find the video recording, it turned into a BO2-style branching storyline, where you could choose to stay with Ilona and join Cormack in Sentinel or stay with Irons and Gideon. That would have made the story 5x better
21:35 I have to disagree, we didn't really see the "advanced interrogation tactic", but you can clearly see Pierre is hurt, there's even blood on the desk to signify that Ilona must've beat him up good.

Exo Zombies felt like a weird fever dream, I really enjoyed the flexibility of movement around environments, gave new exciting definition to running trains. The mystery box and pack a punch systems weren't so great, but I loved double jumping over a herd of zombies, firing one contact grenade (dubbed the wrist rocket) to blow them all away. Also I only enjoyed the first map in the Facility. Literally no desire to play the DLC maps.

@@adamc117 I remember the Riot Exo Survival "ending cutscene" being found by players and uploaded to youtube. Then I got angry when the official Activision channel released the exact same cutscene, but as an advertisement for the Lab dlc to be released at the end. It pissed me off that it wasn't on disk content, but I played it and enjoyed it nonetheless. Burger Town didn't interest me at all, completely turned me off. I don't remember the DLC's after that. Something about being on a boat? Then an underwater seabase? I played couch co-op with a friend many years ago who had the DLC and I said "shit I've never played these maps let's try them out" and I honestly don't remember anything that happened in those other maps. But that was in the wild wasteland of the PS3 days 😎
I mean as easy as it is to joke about AW, thats not a fair comparison. He dies in MW 3 after, well, three games of build up and getting to know him. Plenty of completely forgettable named, important, characters in MW1 that die as well.
I honestly don't think I've ever cared about a single character in a cod campaign, and I've been playing since 4. I really liked both 4 and WaW's campaigns, but I felt no connection to the characters in the slightest. To me the highlight of any cod campaign ever was after beating WaW's campaign you get thrown straight into Nacht. 15 year old me was absolutely floored, having heard nothing about it prior. I haven't played a few entries in the series after losing interest over time so there are campaigns I haven't played.
@Arbiter We need a WaW remaster, honestly I have not and will not buy a MW remaster. I’ll buy the original. However, WaW? The darkest game of all CoD history? THAT is what I want a remaster of.

19:21 "When video game narratives become so plot-focused instead of character-focused, it makes it hard to connect to the story." My favourite takeaway from this video. Also applies to writing books. I agree, there always needs to be plot but if the vehicles that readers use to navigate the story - characters - have about as much personality and depth as a wet paper towel, it's incredibly hard for me personally to give a shit about the story. I can cruise by on an average plot with phenomenal characters, but never the other way around when I'm watching a movie or show, or reading a book.

You are WRONG PAL. He was MY best friend. Btw, I played this on a PS3 and it is (not) very well optimized for the console. I rather play ghosts than this, no jokes.
Problem I had with this one was ironically the opposite problem as campaign which was too linear approaching a rail shooter, but the techy gadgets like the jetpack complicated multiplayer too much, for a game where you die instantly there’s already too many ways to be jumped on out of nowhere and if you try to counterbalance that with other future tech like shields you would basically end up with halo and probably rather play that (although maybe not with how they’re handling that series now)
Honestly has to do something with a new cod getting released every year. You get no time to truly love a series and thrive within that community. After the game gets its balancing and might be decent...boom a new one is out to learn
Is there ever a time when everyone at every school in the nation isn't talking about the new Call of Duty game? I remember when my friends would invite me over to play Halo with them. Now I just imagine everyone bragging about whatever dumb shit they got in their last lootbox with mom's money.
I've played zombies quite a lot and enjoy it the most in a zombies game second to the campaign so I do stand by what I say I will say the advanced movement made the zombies very chaotic and scary in a different way than black ops and two with making it feel like the zombies are doing EVERYTHING to try and stop you and it feels amazing The problem with it come with every single map that came after the first, where they each *forced* you to come out and basically kill yourself, and if you didnt decide to kill your self then they will punish you for it. Zombies is about surviving as long as you can against them, and not about the game itself deciding "right that's far enough" Tl:dr the first map did an amazing job at balancing the advanced movement with you and the zombies and doing so made the game feel very fast However, the other maps having forced events like saving survivors, defusing bombs or preparing for a boss lost the feeling of survival and made it a lot less enjoyable
I remember when this game first came out and my step dad bought it, and I walked into the living room while he was watching a cut scene on the news and I thought it was real life lol

AW, BO3, and WW2 were for sure the most forgettable campaigns I ever played in my life.
@@renatus20058 It could have been a good game.

Agree. Loved the zombies in advanced warfare. Fun addition.
It's very good but I feel half the guns suck in that mode or the zombies are way to powerful past round 7. Also, the map design for Outbreak leaves a lot to be desired

Advanced warfare has an incredibly memorable campaign with unique missions and settings that I had never seen before in other games. I still go back and play the campaign over again every 8 months or so.
However, I can safely say that I’m never naming my kid Mitchell.
The campaign was god like bro

Why this thing isn't a meme!?
"What joy do you get in pressing a button and seeing your character's hand touch a coffin? What part of that is advance?"
It's advanced enough for my college professor to start telling us to press F in his zoom chat whenever he makes a mistake.
Dude that's awesome 😂
Your professor was very cultured
I loved advanced warfare, the maps were good and it was really fun... I made good memories on that game and loved the community back in the day....
Irons is the best Disney villain we had in a long time. He even screams out your name as he plummets to his demise
I feel like there was a missed opportunity where Mitchell could've said to Irons "I will never give you one." As a response to Irons saying that he gave you a second chance with the arm replacement. It would've been so satisfying and pure savagery. Sadly though your character didn't talk except in cutscenes in AW.

You can love a game and stills admit it’s sub par to their counter parts older or newer.
that scene when hades dies is awfully similar to soap dying, and his last words “makarov knows yuri”
Well this game was The beginning of P2W crates, you know, getting The most overpowered weapon models of each type (Obsidian Steed, Speakeasy, RIP, The Doctor, Hole puncher, The infamous HBRa3 Insanity) even the DLC guns are broken (not all)
I have to admit that I only bought supply crates to get the atlas orbital and atlas task force set but I didn't get them
AltaSangre somehow I got an elite version of the MORS through a free supply drop. Not even a sniper but that variant was sick.
"First futuristic Call Of Duty"
BO2 though
Edit: if you want to get really technical, COD4 Modern Warfare was the real first one, given the time of game's events was 2011 and the title was released in 2007
I know it takes place in 2025 bo3 in 2045 then sigh aw 2065-69

You honestly summed my feelings up on Ghosts, Advanced Warfare and Infinite Warfare perfectly. Though I actually enjoyed playing through all three they end up getting ranked low because they’re separated from the series. One offs where I’m not as invested in the characters.
I'll be honest, Irons offering Mitchell the business card at the funeral does add to his character, not caring about loss, but caring about how much war can be waged
True but it sucks that he wasn’t given more complexity
@@davemac9563 yeah, maybe you don't agree with my assessment, but to improve Irons as a character (and the game as a whole) the game should have:
Not made Atlas the bad guy.
Irons is literally Elon Musk if Tesla made Military equipment.
"the meme still lives on, unlike this game"
ouch.

Honestly, I wish that irons wasn't shown as the villian right at the beginning of the game. It just sets the same theme of all of the cod games, its like every M. Night Shyamalan movie, there's a twist every movie that its just way to predictable.
Red dead redemption 2 spoilers ahead:
I would of loved irons to have a similar character structure as Dutch van der Linde in Red Dead Redemption 2.
Thanks if you read this❤
Irons did treat Mitchell like Dutch did to Arthur tho
@@fishfan2 but its still quite obvious irons was a bit messed up at the start, such as not mourning the death of his son. However Dutch was shown as the good guy and the leader
@Reptile I meant in the sense that he mentored and lets not forget it's a yearly cod release
I'm just going to say it AW underrated
Not that it's a great game but it really was not terrible.
Dude we needed AW. All the other CODs feel like the same thing every year. AW was such a fun era, regardless of the hate, I never had issues finding a match. People complain about COD every year but the player base is always large enough😂
I played the shit out of this call of duty. I played it again recently and it’s still fun.
I just bought it and I'm loving it
Me too
I think that it would have been a really really popular game but it came out in a time when people were tired of the call of duty games. People looked over it and bumped it in with the other future games (black ops 3 and infinite warfare) which I think is kinda unfair cause it’s barely even in the future lmao
Take a shot every time someone says "Best friend".
I think it only gets said 4 or 5 times. That's still a lot, mind you, but not a huge deal like Act Man makes it out to be.

Wait how did you even mess up that meme?
Advanced Warfare was and, still pretty much is my favorite of the series. At least in AW if you get shot you have the ability to defend yourself. Where as in other CoD games the difference between life and death is whether you see them first or not. And this is an astronomical hot take, but I actually liked the legendary weapon variants. I remember getting a legendary LMG and it was so nice to use I dedicated myself to getting diamond on heavy weapons. It's just too bad the game was dead after 3 months
''This is Will, he's your best friend now.''

My favourite takeaway from this video.

Problem I had with this one was ironically the opposite problem as campaign which was too linear approaching a rail shooter, but the techy gadgets like the jetpack complicated multiplayer too much, for a game where you die instantly there’s already too many ways to be jumped on out of nowhere and if you try to counterbalance that with other future tech like shields you would basically end up with halo and probably rather play that (although maybe not with how they’re handling that series now)
I remember this game quite well and everyone in school was talking about it also the theme was great but nowadays nobody plays it.
Honestly has to do something with a new cod getting released every year. You get no time to truly love a series and thrive within that community. After the game gets its balancing and might be decent...boom a new one is out to learn
wrong
Is there ever a time when everyone at every school in the nation isn't talking about the new Call of Duty game?
I remember when my friends would invite me over to play Halo with them. Now I just imagine everyone bragging about whatever dumb shit they got in their last lootbox with mom's money.
@@imchaotix5450 COD is the same repeative formula the series has put in place since COD 4.
The multiplayer in AW was actually my favorite of any cod. I played it for years.
I mean it wasn’t my favorite but it was definitely one of my favorite, like just behind bo2 and modern warfare2020
It’s tied with bo2 for me

I don't care what anyones says advanced warfare and black ops 3 were my favorites till this day lol
Looks like somebody forgot to review the zombies.
I've played zombies quite a lot and enjoy it the most in a zombies game second to the campaign so I do stand by what I say
I will say the advanced movement made the zombies very chaotic and scary in a different way than black ops and two with making it feel like the zombies are doing EVERYTHING to try and stop you and it feels amazing
The problem with it come with every single map that came after the first, where they each *forced* you to come out and basically kill yourself, and if you didnt decide to kill your self then they will punish you for it. Zombies is about surviving as long as you can against them, and not about the game itself deciding "right that's far enough"
Tl:dr the first map did an amazing job at balancing the advanced movement with you and the zombies and doing so made the game feel very fast
However, the other maps having forced events like saving survivors, defusing bombs or preparing for a boss lost the feeling of survival and made it a lot less enjoyable
I noticed that too.
I wish he did, it’s the best part of AW imo.
He mentioned it in the intro but forgot about it haha
He would’ve, if you didn’t have to fucking pay for it
I remember when this game first came out and my step dad bought it, and I walked into the living room while he was watching a cut scene on the news and I thought it was real life lol
7:52 I knew instantly he was going to reference the "Ramírez!" Meme
Private James Ramirez I remember that well Private Mitchell is him but in future
RAMIREZ! USE THAT DILDO TO TAKE DOWN THE CHOPPER!!
Little more like 7:51, but ignore me.
Wait in the middle.

“Press F to pay respects” is so brilliantly funny that I refuse to believe the guy who made the decision to input that exact guide with that exact phrasing was not intending it to be a meme.
I really liked the game when it came out even if everyone was hating on the advanced movement
People hated the advanced games bc they were just so caught up in the past that the future seemed irrelivent
I hated it at first with the advanced movement but it really grew on me because you could get out of the way of players and bullets easier
You're not the only one bro
The Only Call of Duty I Played Was Ghosts, But This Game Looks Pretty
