Been over indulging Halo lore over the holiday - want to share my gratitude for the compilation you put together here. There's been an influx of these "everything to date" essays lately (not complaining) - but the way you interspersed relevant cut-scenes from multiple games, and screenshots from graphic novels really brought things together for me. I also really appreciate the tone of your commentary and pacing. Turning "100K years" into 1hr of content couldn't have been easy - but I'm so glad you decided to. Sub well earned!
The ending to infinite legit made me cry, the connection between chief and cortana is so strong that even through rampancy, being locked down, captured before her demise she still preserved that memory of what was good in her life, and that was John. She kept a copy of her for John to keep those good memories rolling. I'm off to grab tissues and assume the foetal position now.
I saved this video a year ago and just now watched it in its entirety. I've been playing the Halo games for seven years and never knew just how extensive the lore was. This was a fantastic video and very informative. I did have to rewatch parts to understand it, but overall, I learned a lot

My favorite was when Johnson did his "regret" speech in Halo 2 right along with his like just before while they were still in space " for a brick he flew pretty good". Master Chief was a beyond good character but Johnson was my favorite character. Sucked that he was killed off in Halo 3.
Actually the Orion program had 3 phases The first phase were the 5 that died a year later after getting the augmentation The second phase has 65 successfully augmentation orions And the third phase which johnson was apart of had at the end 165 members left that either retired or were re-assigned to different branches So 165 out of 300 members are alive by the beginning of the human-covenant war after that it unknown
Super roundup of the whole Halo saga. What a great 20ish years it has been. My brother was my Halo ‘guru’ until his passing a few years ago. But even up until Halo 4, there was still lots I guess he hadn’t uncovered. Thanks for all the effort in compiling this. 🙏🏻
Out of all the Halo timelines I've watched (I've watched a lot of them), this was by far the simplest and easiest to understand and compiled in a way that respected Halo's story and lore. Good stuff my man, keep up the good work.
Dude, paying attention to what’s visually displayed n then thinking bout the 30ish novels (of which u barely got to scratch the surfaces of, summing up some books in 1-2 sentences 🤩😂), it’s SO much information 😵💫. At anyrate, u’re recap is top notch n so well put together, bravo 👏🏽!
Halo holds a special place in my heart. I was introduced to Halo CE by a family friend when I was 8 years old (I believe in 2011) and it just stuck with me ever since. That's probably why I, a Gen Z kid, favours the older games over the newer ones lol. Thank you for making this super captivating video, I always find myself coming back to Halo Lore and this video just tells you how awesome it is.
I'm still sooooo upset about what they did to Jul. Multiple books and a lot of spartan OPs to set him up and give so much potential to his character just wasted in one of the first cutscenes of the game with little to no fanfare. I don't know how they would have tied him into the current storyline, but they just threw him away.
Excellent symmary in one hour. Just finishing yet another Halo CE to Infinite campaing binge, but now with 30 years of age being able to focus more deeply to the stroy and lore and not only grunts birthday parties. Every play through gives something new. And like Zeta Halos monitor said, raises even more questions. Thank you fot he video, great work.
I've always know Halo had some deep lore because of all the books/comics and sites that hold extra information story and story but as someone who's only played through the mainline games, I had no idea it ran THIS deep. Its so Amazing! Insane job on this yo!!
I grew up with this game as well. One of my friends older brothers was playing The Silent Cartographer mission on the OG Xbox back in 2004 and let me play. I didn't know anything about the lore, just enjoyed shooting aliens alongside marines. As I grew up and delved more into the lore I became more fascinated and at times overwhelmed by the story. Not many shooter games can captivate an entire console user base with the story and Halo does this better than anyone. There have been bumps in the road with the story, and that makes sense when you consider the shift in knowledge from Bungie to 343. Infinite seems to be a way to "rectify mistakes" and "make amends" like the message from Cortana states at the ending of the Halo infinite main story. She also mentions the "potential" she sees in Chief and The Weapon (who is really a copy of Cortana with some tweaks and changes) and I think that also refers to the potential we all see with infinite. I'm glad to see that the speculation of killing off chief was not real and although we miss Cortana I think we can all begin to foster a great relationship with the weapon, or whatever name she chooses for herself. I'm excited for the future. One day the Halo journey will end, perhaps decades from now when I'm old and gray. Until then I'm looking forward to seeing what the next steps in the story will be for Master Chief and his legacy.
W 25:33 I don't know why this little sound effect sent me into an incredible cackling fit 😂. I just wanted to say I appreciate the love you put into this video. Every little bonus bit is definitely noticed by someone even if they don't post a comment to call it out like I did.

I love the halo series and lore. One of my favorite questions raised through the whole series was whether Kathrine was right to initiate the Spartan 2 program. I love a good story that makes you think that both sides are right in their argument. What was done to the children in the S2 program was horrific, but without it, humanity most probably would not have survived.
Hey Brother just wanted to tell you that I've watched a lot of Halo videos and this has to be the most entertaining and digestible video I've seen especially of a full breakdown of the history of Halo, you nailed it dude I've shared this video with most of my friends that are willing to even listen to it LOL keep them coming please!
My favourite thing about this video is that its not like other videos, it tells you the lore but I love that its in a positive light and not like everyone else who disregards parts of the franchise
Halo was one game that I couldn't get away with. But I knew that it had some deeper lore which I might like after seeing snippets and references around the Web. This was a detailed, informative and entertaining summary. Jam packed with lore, cross references and just enough dry wit to raise a wry smile or three. Thank you so much for creating this - it's clearly a passion project but that passion was the secret sauce that made it so engaging. Thank you so much for this, long may you continue to fight for humanity and keep us all safe! 👏👏👏
Been here since 01. It's been a crazy journey and yet through it all, my love for this vast universe has never once wavered, even through the chaotic days of 4 and 5. 343 did A LOT of soul searching before Infinite and my god I can honestly say they've hit their stride and brought back that magic and sense of wonder that made the original trilogy so loved. Infinite is addictively good and I'm scouring every inch of its open world to find as many Easter Eggs, cores, cosmetics and other fun nods to past games every chance I get! The DLC are gonna be just as good especially with the foundation they have built here. I feel like that 11 year old kid again in 01 and it's an amazing feeling to rediscover!
I’ve recently gotten into the Halo story after playing the previous games growing up, you explained the whole canon comprehensively and provided so many insights into the history of Halo!

I have the attention span of a goldfish and yet somehow you kept me enticed, although I’m sure the way you wrapped my entire childhood nostalgia into a very concise 1 hr video that was easily comprehensible had a lot to do with it, hats off to you this is one video I will share with my halo nerd friends.
Literally just spent an entire hour focusing on every word. 10/10 awesome. I actually caught up with the entire story something I thought I’d never see me do lol
I first started playing halo at the age of 5 back in 2010, it feels really good just seeing some of the game play that brings back so much nostalgia and just hearing all the law behind it, thank you👊
Wow 😮 just wow … when I finished infinite I was a bit frustrated cos none of the story made sense to me … I felt I was just shooting enemies with no clear objective but to do so … man your video just made me feel excited with the whole franchise. Thanks a lot for your hard work ! The video is awesome, entertaining and clear. You got a new follower in here ! 🙌🏽
Over the last month or so I’ve been going on a halo marathon, I started with Wars 1, Reach, CE, 2, ODST, 3, Spartan assault, 4, Spartan ops, spartan strike, halo 5, and now I’m in Wars 2, it’s been a grind but I feel like it’ll make Infinite’s campaign more amazing than it probably already is
Yes! Correct way through chronologically, gameplay changes like Reach before CE be damned. Also if folks want to be EXTRA lorist. Read the original Halo Fall of Reach by Eric Nylund alongside playing Halo Reach. Yeah Bungie spat on his book work even though they helped him along a little. Sooo much for lor consistency. Need Halopedia/ Halo Alpha and other sources to make sense of the Reach based timeframe and events.
Now I remember why I was such a HALO nerd. I think I still have HALO 3 around here. This video makes me want to step out as Master Chief one more time. One more _glorious_ time.
This whole video and newfound understanding of the Halo universe/ timeline, has just made me internally overcome with joy. Growing up with Halo, always curious of the story behind it all and the deeper links from one to another. Now after coincidentally just beating Halo Wars 2 and Infinite I’m just stuck marveling at the magnificent depth and journey Halo is and has taken me. Thank you for bringing me to this new understanding, definitely a lifelong subscriber.
So I don’t think The Endless can do time travel, rather I think they have the ability to manipulate time, like Time Dilation we see in real life where if you are next to a black hole you experience the passing of time differently than say someone on Earth. This isn’t time travel, because from a person observing both the being at earth and the one by the black hole time is passing all the same, but being experienced differently by those at those locations. So the Endless can probably control time by slowing it down in areas(like when Chief went through the portal) but can not actually travel through it. Just manipulate it, again, like how we see with the bending of space/time in our actual universe. This idea is also observed with slip space, nobody has actually traveled through time, they just passed through it differently, after all we move through time, time doesn’t move through us. This is why I think Halo won’t do the whole time travel thing because it causes a mess of story telling and that’s the last thing 343 needs, it’s also the most basic trope in all of sci-if. Halo tends to stay grounded in its sci-fi ideas and time manipulation can be grasped and handled easily. Full blown time travel is just bad, I can already see the mess it will cause. Like Chief going back in time to see another Master Chief. Then it’s like why aren’t we playing as that Master Chief or the millions of other Master Chiefs now then you have never ending branching of timelines and … well it’s just horrible to keep characters grounded at that point. It’s just an opinion though, if they do time travel I hope they make sense of it. Not a cluster of a mess like it always ends up being. Also, amazing video. Halo is just an amazing universe to be able to enjoy. Hope you have more videos like this.
Noble team.. especially 6.. was a HUGE part of my growth as a decent person. That story, along with a few others, really helped me become a man when I didn't have much of a father at all.
Ive watch this video maybe 5 times now and i just love it. Every detail, you clearly put a lot of work into. Thanks for this. This means a lot. From one Halo fan to another.
Tell me about it man. My wedding is next Saturday and my fucking groomscake is an elite energy sword with raspberry liquor flavor… and I am afraid that I will find it so utterly fucking sad to behold. I had apprehensions about Infinite and then omg it’s story was a stunning and brilliant triumph, because of this I let myself get excited about the show. And now I am just… fucking sad. All that production quality, all that talent and work and emotional effort… to make what? To make a reminder that caring about cannon makes us stupid? To remind us that all those books we bought and games we build our identities around are utterly meaningless to the people who hold dominion over the license
I remember my first play through of Halo 4 when you get to the nuke. My heart stopped, I set the controller down and just reflected for a few minutes before I pulled the trigger to what I thought was the end of master chief.
Some Halo Array errors: 1. The greater ark could not activate the new Rings, 2. The old Rings were not designed to cleanse the galaxy, but for more conventional sterilization, 3. The old Rings fired in a cone, rather than omni directional
Great video! Halo has a special place in my heart, too. Reach really got me hooked on the story. I have my own theories (hopes) for how things play out in the end. All of these years playing through the eyes of Chief and the countless journeys with Cortana it's impossible to not get attached to the characters.
burst out in tears when I heard the 'sir, finishing the fight' line all of a sudden years and years of memories from childhood came flooding back it truly was the best time in gaming. they just don't make games with this much detail anymore.
Had the Pillar Of Autumn not escaped reach, they’d never have found the halo ring, and never encountered the flood, and the conflict would’ve been with the covenant alone. Out of the frying pan and into the fire I guess.
On the other hand the discovery of Halo was the catalyst that turned the whole war around. Humanity were only a few years from complete extinction had the war carried on like it was as of the fall of Reach
One thing you passed over that I think is the true reason the endless are immune to the Halos' is Sargeant Johnson's immunity to flood infection. In the lore, Johnson would have been infected with the rest of his squad on Alpha Halo, but as pointed out he was a member of the Orion program and even though he survived, he wasn't left completely intact. Johnson, had boron's syndrome which was a cover up to disguise the symptoms for the Spartan 1's in reality the program essentially scrambled his central nervous system and since the flood require a nervous system to infect, he was left uninfected. Coincidentally, the Halo's firing attacks the central nervous system of sentient beings (which is why they always mention "sentient" because a central brain is required). The Infinite terminals make it seem like the Endless are immune due to their unique anatomy (presumably lacking a form of central nervous system). This also would make them immune to the flood infection, but we'll be lucky to get another flood encounter in the series.

Thanks 343 for the trash content you've put out since H4. Halo wars team, you can tell they know how to tell amazing stories, at least
Forerunner-Flood War is one of the best additions to the Halo lore and universe imo
definitely the flood was the reason the halo rings and ark were created, which is basically what the covenant was chasing
Thank you! As someone who never got into the campaigns until halo 3 - this has helped me make sense of it all more than anything.
You got "Remember our heroes. Remember Reach." way literally. Thanks for the moments of respect and silence given to every single one of them (btw, beautiful edit and wonderful story telling, mate).
As a long time Halo lore fan I really appreciate the time taken for each of the fallen members of Noble team and especially Sergeant Johnson.
Thanks for that!

He rampancy was cured by forerunner tech, but she still chose to take the mantle of responsibility for herself

I saved this video a year ago and just now watched it in its entirety. I've been playing the Halo games for seven years and never knew just how extensive the lore was. This was a fantastic video and very informative. I did have to rewatch parts to understand it, but overall, I learned a lot
The story is a little confusing
Please elaborate, what exactly is confusing?
Hah yeah, there is no chance you can catch it just from playing game 😅. Just to be clear I really love this game that i grown up with. But in game story telling is rubbish 😅, they could pay a little more attention to that
@@LisaAnn777this wasn’t as hectic as the metal gear story can get 😂
It was a book series first around the time combat evolved came out then expanded
@dzo3 Hollow Knight has entered the chat.
“Give the Covenant back their bomb” one of my favorite moments in Halo lol
My favorite was when Johnson did his "regret" speech in Halo 2 right along with his like just before while they were still in space " for a brick he flew pretty good". Master Chief was a beyond good character but Johnson was my favorite character. Sucked that he was killed off in Halo 3.
Achievement get: Return to sender!
Actually the Orion program had 3 phases
The first phase were the 5 that died a year later after getting the augmentation
The second phase has 65 successfully augmentation orions
And the third phase which johnson was apart of had at the end 165 members left that either retired or were re-assigned to different branches
So 165 out of 300 members are alive by the beginning of the human-covenant war after that it unknown
I want to see an entire series about the Ancient Humans, I love the concept of Humans existing far beyond what we thought
Super roundup of the whole Halo saga. What a great 20ish years it has been. My brother was my Halo ‘guru’ until his passing a few years ago. But even up until Halo 4, there was still lots I guess he hadn’t uncovered.
Thanks for all the effort in compiling this. 🙏🏻
Halo was such a big part of my childhood. Love the content, keep it coming!

Out of all the Halo timelines I've watched (I've watched a lot of them), this was by far the simplest and easiest to understand and compiled in a way that respected Halo's story and lore. Good stuff my man, keep up the good work.
I just started playing halo and this was just what I needed 🙏
I hope it brings you as much joy as it has brought me over the years.

One of the best scenes. 33:25 or so
“I.. am.. TRUUUTH.. the voice of the covenant!”
Arbiter - “and so… you must be silenced” *back stab*
I wish they would remake the graphics of H3 like they did for H2 to be more like a movie. That scene would go so hard..
I personally found it rather cheesy and the first time I encountered it thought it was an example of the plot of 3 being a bit lower in quality to 2
I always thought he said asshole, you must be silenced
5 sucks
Excellent symmary in one hour. Just finishing yet another Halo CE to Infinite campaing binge, but now with 30 years of age being able to focus more deeply to the stroy and lore and not only grunts birthday parties. Every play through gives something new. And like Zeta Halos monitor said, raises even more questions. Thank you fot he video, great work.
Dude this was a work of art. Absolutely massive project, and you pulled it off perfectly. Huge respect ❤

Dude I just watched that part and immediately scrolled for this comment 👌🏽👌🏽
I just started playing Halo for the 1st time. i know this game has a vast and interesting lore. So I'm glad i found this complete story of the franchise. Makes me want to delve deeper into the history. Thanks.
Dude....I cried......I have been following halo and knew all its lores, none of my friends do. I loved watching this video and I want all my friends to see it. All they want is COD, BGMI etc.... they don't understand the power of a lore. Keep uploading more videos like this..👌👌👍👍👍👍
Glad you enjoyed it!
It’s good to know that people share the same memories of halo halo has been with me my whole life and it’s just good to see it all together thank you
I love the halo series and lore.
Haha thanks man, appreciate you
My favourite thing about this video is that its not like other videos, it tells you the lore but I love that its in a positive light and not like everyone else who disregards parts of the franchise
This is the best all-in-one explanation I’ve ever heard! 👌
Thanks man!

Thanks will do if I can
Yikes… Infinite is mediocrity at its purest form.

This is the most complete story line for the games that i've seen, good job the effort was visible.
You did leave some stuff out, but overall, this is the most inclusive timeline I’ve ever found for Halo. So amazing job!

This is such a thrilling story... I'm really heartbroken from the halo tv series

Now I finally am beginning to understand HALO. Thank you.
The complete story of the Halo Universe, *IN EXACTLY ONE HOUR*
oh no it's one nanosecond over
burst out in tears when I heard the 'sir, finishing the fight' line all of a sudden years and years of memories from childhood came flooding back it truly was the best time in gaming. they just don't make games with this much detail anymore.
Gotta love John Mayer’s playing at 13:09
Had the Pillar Of Autumn not escaped reach, they’d never have found the halo ring, and never encountered the flood, and the conflict would’ve been with the covenant alone. Out of the frying pan and into the fire I guess.
On the other hand the discovery of Halo was the catalyst that turned the whole war around. Humanity were only a few years from complete extinction had the war carried on like it was as of the fall of Reach
@@chesney1995 It was bout time they wake up Chief.
22:46 after slapping some tutorial covenant buttcheek😭😂 beautiful description🤣
You boiled this down very well, I don’t think you could summarize it in any less time. 1 hour is impressive.
Thank you for taking the time to make this video!
As bad as Halo 5's campaign was, that first blue team mission was pretty fun.
