The Act Man Yo i just watched this as soon as it came up at 35 views, i agree that this one of the best realistic games cod has put out. But it does have itx flaws but maybe t hat old 360 controller noy being as responsive as used to be. I have a suggestion for future video, Medal of Honor series if you can. Or have any past expetience with it. Thank you, if you read this.
I also must add most of those russian scenes where they are brutal, are actually choices Chermov's Diary at the end will explain your charecter for making those desicions. " Someone should read this. "
The basically censored so many stuff to please sjws, and basically I'm wondering if Activision or sjws ever heard this quote, "Those who ignore history are doomed to repeat it"
Out of all the COD games, this game is the one that deserves a remaster. Everything can stay the same, just upgrade the graphics, I'd even pay full price for that.
I actually enjoy it with a lot of it being the Wii/PS2 graphics. Of course I can see why some would want remakes since there are old games I'd want remade like as long as the general look remains I'd love a remake of Spy vs Spy. Also to clarify yes I did play WAW on PS2 and BO on Wii.
This was my all time favorite CoD, and I started in the early online days of CoD 4. I did not enjoy the transition into flying 69 no scoping 420 blaze it intervention MW2 trash. It was fun but it ruined the game.
The greatest thing about WAW in the UK is that it is pretty much the only COD that got an age "15" certificate rather than an "18" despite being one of the goriest and scariest in the series lol
That part where Reznov took Chernov's diary and said that someone should read it, tears tread down my cheeks. They didnt try too hard to make Chernov that much of a noticeable character, yet you can still cry for him. And then COD WWII just tried too hard to create characters with deep back stories but no soul. I couldnt care less if Daniels shoot the wolves or his brother, i dont really care.
Adrix i played the campaign for the first time recently did it on veteran and the nade spam was cancer lmao. all these years i never had the game but i played it a few times.
that sniper mission alone turned me into a half decent sniper. Without it I would still be learning in bo4 and MW how to lead shots and hit horizontal moving
in my opinion, the best aspect of COD WAW is that you're not a military badass, you're just somebody who answer the call of duty to serve in military on an ongoing war, and you're not become a strong military badass, you simply become battle harden through the fight, that's the core that makes the character in WAW is different compare to newer title, like modern warfare 3
That's the thing I like about Miller and Dimitri both got captured yet they still go out and fight hell they've even had instances where they almost die due to an enemy trying to kill them yet they somehow survive
@@Milty2001 Even better, they survive through realistic means relying on both the actions of others and you, the player's, skill and cunning. The game is difficult. Insanely difficult. I remember playing and beating veterans difficulty and it was simultaneously the most exhausting and proud thing I've done in my gaming "career." Mainly because of the fact that you had to persevere through the hellish nadespam and enemy wave tactics until you get a perfect run and reach a checkpoint or two. That difficulty probably helps the most, it works to humanize the actions of your otherwise unknown comrades like Chernov or Roebuck. Especially when they seem to actually have decent (at least for the time period) AI that helps you somewhat through tougher spots. That also works to humanize Dimitri and Miller. Instead of trying to throw some crappy exposition, they're getting thrown around in a warzone and have little quips and snarky remarks that add a bit to their characters without forcing you through a modern day Hamlet when all you wanna do is shoot some damn Nazis.
@@gamerraider889yer veteran mode was seriously hardcore back then you pretty much had to know everything off by heart creeping between cover to make ground
Do you guys remember the Veteran difficulty in WaW? How every Nazi has a limitless pocket of grenades and the throwing arm of an NFL quarterback? I remember that.
I always found another part of WaW that gave a lot of depth and made you think about the horrible actions of warfare is in Chernov's perception of you shown at the beginning of the last mission as his diary is read. There are three different lines that can play, they all start out with: "April 30, 1945: When he first spoke of Dimitri, Reznov told tales of a hero, someone we should all aspire to be like." But depending on how merciless you have been during the campaign it will give a different ending: "His bravery on the battlefield is beyond question, but he has also shown mercy amidst the brutality of the Red Army. He is indeed a hero." "At times, I have seen him show mercy, and at others, complete brutality. I do not understand him. Perhaps heroes need not question their actions." "His merciless brutality defines him only as a savage, just like the rest of the Red Army. He is no hero." If you've been doing as Reznov says and killed surrendered and wounded Germans then it makes you regret how you've acted, which is quite a powerful thing for a game to do.
The beginning part of a mission where Dimitri is rescued has a bit of a mixed message. Resnov tells Chernov to shoot the wounded men who are dying, yet Chernov says that they're already bleeding to death. So, Resnov tells us (the player) to make them bleed faster. Wouldn't killing them be more of a mercy killing? I mean, they're dying from bleeding, and it must be painful. I've always felt that leaving them to die from the bleeding is a bit of a worse fate. But then again, maybe it's just the moral code not to kill an unarmed man.
"His merciless brutality defines him only as a savage, just like the test of the Red Army. He is no hero." If I was there at that time, and Chernov said this directly to my face, I'll refute his claim and ask him this: "Did the Nazis show mercy, even to the helpless ones like the elderly, the women, and, most importantly, the innocent children, when they invaded the Motherland and massacred our brethren? They grazed the Motherland just so that they could recover from their humiliation, and you're telling me that I am a savage? I'm just being fair; they ravaged the defenseless in our soil, we'll do the same to them".
@@christophergepullano9029 You would be doing the same thing that the Nazis were doing then and claim to be their superior. The real question you have to ask yourself is how do you get justice without becoming a momster yourself.
It’s sad how World at War was mostly disregarded last gen simply because it was another world war 2 game right after Modern Warfare which was a setting the series never saw before. I honestly think World at War is one of the best games of the Xbox 360 and you perfectly highlighted why :)
Don't play cod waw now there are so many hackers in multiplayer mode that the game isn't fun on there anymore since someone had to use god mode that just makes the game fun for them
I'm happy World at war is backwards compatible on Xbox one because I can still enjoy it with new friends and this was my First ever COD game I ever had also my first every 18 rated game
What I love about World at War is that you don't play as some special operator doing special things. You play as a grunt to experience all the horrible, degrading, demoralization of war. No special attention is given to you, no crazy attachment/customization systems. This is war, war is hell, this is hell.
RIP Petrenko "Dimitri Petrenko was a hero... He deserved a hero's death. Instead of giving his life for the glory of the motherland, he died for nothing... like an animal. He should have died in Berlin..."
Ww2 gets too much shit in my opinion. It was too politically correct, but is was very cool. Also, it tells history aswell and the d-day mission gives you the chills. People jumped on the hate-train with no super valid reason
@@arie8515 Ww2 wasn't that bad at all. I think it was decent for a game as a whole. Sure, it wasn't like WaW as others say but as long as it's World War 2 and you shoot Nazi scums, I'm totally fine with it
It focuses on the fronts that most media doesn't cover as much, Eastern front and Pacific. And they did an amazing job at it. I find it bullshit that the media doesn't even give much attention to the front that turned the tide of the war. But no, let's make 100 games about D-day and 1944 when the war was already determined.
We had the British Marine Corps in Burma and Indonesia, the Chinese Army in IndoChina, and the US Army and Marines in Guadalcanal. A full game set in the Pacific would be awesome.
The cutscenes with actual executions was always the ballsiest thing to me. It really makes you appreciate that you can sit outside of it and experience it through a masterpiece of a video game.
I just realized In an alternate realty cod is actually good and never declined after black ops 2 like rn we could be playing a perfect call of duty I totally didn’t smoke a bowl rn
@@tob.meister It'd be awesome, but media nowadays would get so offended with the game (swastikas, massive violence, politically offensive) if it would be re released as a remastered. Activision must have the BALLS they've had in the past to remaster and release cod waw to the public. They'd probably censor the swastikas like they did in cod ww2 by replacing it with Iron crosses.
When Reznov said, "As long as HE lives, the heart of this army cannot be broken." I realized that after BO1 and the death of Dmitri in the Nova 6 flashback it foreshadowed the fall of CoD.
@@u.nforcesalx9892 I loved BO3 as well. Shit campaign but fun multiplayer, relatively balanced DLC weapons compared to AW and IW, 11/10 zombies, and fun bonus modes like DO2 and nightmares.
Instead of barely bringing myself to hit start I used to quickly start the game and play the campaign as soon as possible so I couldn’t listen to the scary music
This damn game is responsible for introducing me to something I love almost as much as Halo, motherfuckin Zombies. The story, gameplay, maps, weapons everything about this game is fucking perfect. The absolute GOAT CoD and it will never be beaten
HiddenXperia, that's because Treyarch wanted to make this the last World War 2 themed CoD, so they made everything perfect as the last experience. Zombies is definitely the bomb and this game will always be the better of the new generation of CoD games. I'd recommend a remaster, but it's too good that I wouldn't want Treyarch to fuck it up if they decided to "add" anything.
That 2003 to 2010 era is always going to be unmatched and LEGIT, the big red one was such a good game. (Cod 2). Shit is insane how much history is actually based in this games.
@@THELASTREALKING93I hate to say it but MW2 is overrated lol Don’t get me wrong, I love it. But it started the whole sweaty tryhard gaming culture in CoD that has never left now
As a history buff, I also appreciate the fact that the game actually brings attention to the fact that Imperial Japan was just as horrible as the Nazis during this time, while at the same time not resorting to racism to do that.
@@sponge5196 and not only that they also added some gore effects on the soldier's body. Making it more realistic that shows how gruesome the war truely is. Not just some ragdoll that's just tossed around when shot and painted it red its just ughhhh
@@8bitPotatoPC-544 yeah but I kinda wish they remade WAW so they can put in Euphoria physics for when you kill someone. Like the ragdoll physics in RDR2 ya know? But it's just my silly opinion
As well as portraying the Russians as bloodthirsty. Yes, they did lose a lot - but they were still bloodthirsty at the end of the war; just like in-game.
There was a level of respect for the past World at War had that new Call of Duty games simply don't have. It also showed the horrors of war without trying to glorify it. My brother and I still play the campaign on co-op and have an absolute blast.
Is nobody going to talk aboit the gore ..how u could blow guys arms off with the shotgun and how realistic it looked ..why did cod stop making games like that one of my favorite cod games ever hands down
@@josefsinlimbo Fuck the media!. Give us a game so Gory so horrifying so intense that we will beg treyarch to take all of our money year after year if they make games this level of restricted. They could easily get away with selling this type of game for 100$ or even 1000$ dollars a copy we would willingly spend that much if it means we get so much as 1 fully uncensored uncut 1000x more violent it's this level of violence and gore we the players want in a game.. Look at games like Serious Sam 3 Your first kill involves ripping out a big eyeball from an enemy monster... with your bare Hand!. Or doom eternal where 100% of the game involves uncensored gore arms legs guts flying everywhere from every enemy you kill. Or even gears of war where you can chainsaw enemies in half. Sigh... sorry about that I got a little carried away there. I just really love super gory games and movies. Anyway the only other cod I have ever seen this much gore for was Bo3 and even that game wasn't perfect. But anyway most of the gore in this game comes from multiplayer and some of it from campaign via Raps, Combat Bow, Gravity Spikes, The end of the first mission... But alas this game wasn't the game it was meant to be. But now you got these eww... child friendly cods that hardly show any real gore other then the odd legs getting blown off from landmines etcetera.
Some “Japanese” Soldiers might say “Api” when lit on fire instead of “Kasai” (the Japanese word for fire) api means fire in Indonesian. This means the Japanese soldiers forcefully conscripted the Indonesians to fight for them.
Fun fact, the Zombies characters’ original models were all ripped straight from the campaign. Tank Dempsey is just Polonsky, Richthofen is General Amsel from Vendetta, Nikolai is Chernov, and Takeo is the Japanese Officer from the beginning
I actually love the real ww2 footage at the start of each mission it definitely feels like a mini documentary in a game and also shows what these men faced
That's what they were supposed to be. I was 5 when modernwarfare came out. But I still played all the cods til vanguard. And by that, I mean the campaigns also played multi-player but these games were originally made to be historically accurate. Not happening anymore history teachers prolly all gon get canceled in about 3 months.
Watching Japanese soldiers literally burying Chinese civilians in a pit alive is some of the most fucked shit you might accidentally come across on the internet in 2009 but these people strait had it in a game and you watched that shit as a teenager just awe struck before a mission even started
My favorite part of COD was the feeling that you were just a regular member of that military. Whether I was American, British, or Russian I loved the experience of being just a regular participant in the war. I don't want to be a Spec Ops guy that can take out an entire battalion by himself I want to be I the shoes of the average Joe and live his experiences and see what he sees. Sure you have to take some liberties because it's not going to be as entertaining if you were to play out the entirety of the nearly 3 month long Battle of Okinawa while suffering from Malaria and urinating on your machine gun to keep it from overheating before watching civilians throw themselves off cliffs to avoid the shame of surrender or the fear of the atrocities the Japanese said the Americans would do to them if they were captured alive but the original COD games showed me how extraordinary it was that so many nations came together to fight another group of countries. Remember, War is Hell and it is not your duty to die for your country, it is you duty to make sure the other man dies for his.
It shows Resnov's true care for his soldiers. I replayed the game recently and noticed that Reznov would shout "We need a medic" every time one of your comrades were shot and killed, it's especially noticeable on higher difficulties due to your reliance on friendly units. He may have some merciless moments, but he seems to truly be a good man at heart, however, men can be pushed to unspeakable acts. l feel his patronizing of Dimitri to Chernov was actually him trying to get Chernov to fight for more than survival, he wanted him to go further like Dimitri and actually decimate German forces when possible. He tells Chernov "no one will ever read this" to get him to focus on the fight in the twilight of the Third Reich. Black Ops Reznov seems off now with how he stated that Russians know the price of sacrifice. It was a badass moment, undoubtedly, but with Reznov's steady repeated shouting for medics and such for fallen soldiers it makes it odd. Though, he was also in Vorkuta for a while by then so he was probably hella desensitized, so it doesn't really matter in the end. Anyways, my two cents on one of gaming's most inspiring characters of the era.
You know during the beginning of the mission downfall when chernov is talking, it can change depending on what you did to the three surrendering germans in the metro entrance.
@@Padre_416 yeah if you kill the surrendering German soldiers the book will say how unhuman you were to commit such atrocities, and if you let them live (they probably bled out and died anyway) the book mentions how warm hearted you are and that you care for the lives of everyone.
@@gamerraider889 When I was playing on veteran I was stuck right in front of the Steps of Reichstag, waiting for the pillar to fall. The SS Guards were just spamming grenades and machine gun fire on the NPCs. When I got closer I noticed that when ever a soldier got shot, Reznov would scream "Get a medic!" Or "Stop the bleeding! Quick stop the bleeding!"
this was the most difficult/rewarding COD game they ever made, every time you didn't get sniped, blown up or killed in anyway was tense beyond belief, because the moment you feel safe *zip, bang, pow* you get clipped by someone you couldn't even see, it kept you on your toes and in suspense. COD:WAW is to this day this hardest COD they ever made, and that's why it's so damn good
@@ChandranPrema123 Hahaha. True. Have you played the expansion of the 1st COD? United Offensive? Now that.. My Cod, that is the hardest cod game made ever. Hell, old Call of duty games have difficult campaigns man, but it's enjoyable because it's kind of had both historical facts and world war II action movie elements.
Historically accurate and brutal. There was no censorship or cover up in waw. Limbs getting torn off, gore everywhere, agonizing screaming being on fire.
Beating World at War on Veteran and getting the platinum for the game is still one of my most crowning achievements in my personal gaming career. Knowing how difficult it was, and having the tenacity, knowledge, and skill to bust through it was a great feeling when I saw and heard that trophy ding on screen. Pretty sure elations were had that day.
Agreed dude! Getting that platinum was what turned my teen self into a man! To this day I don't think no shooter has challenged me more than beating Heart of the Reich on vet 😅 damn 'nades
It isn't that long ago, when I was replaying this game on veteran and man, I remember those grenade spam. Every Japanese/German soldier carried like 5-6 grenades and I was hiding behind a cover and I had to throw like 5 grenades back at the enemy.
It's soooooo hard to get into the Reichstag (like the second to last level) with all of the grenade spamming and infinitely spanning soldiers. Hardened on MW and W@W I'm pretty sure was more difficult than Veteran on the CoD's since then.
I look for three things when I play a historic game, objectivity, honesty, and authenticity. World at War ticked all those boxes for me. It didn’t paint either side as truly good or truly bad; the Russians and Germans committed atrocities and the Japanese and Americans committed equally brutal tactics. It didn’t shy away from portraying the atrocities and brutality. It also felt authentic to the time period. From my historic stand point, it’s a great depiction of the Second World War.
The Stalingrad Mission literally still gives me chills to this day. Honestly the best 25 seconds in any video games. Literally when that dude was standing over them with the mp40. Chills.
@@arandomperson5434 Really? Vendetta is my favorite and what got me into snipers in CoD and other shooters. I always try to snipe in game to this day, and even follow Reznov's advice on "hunting" my target(which is why I also hate sniping trick shots, Reznov is just that charismatic).
From Chernov's diary. "April 30th, 1945. When he first spoke of Dimitri, Reznov told tales of a hero. Someone we should all aspire to be like. His bravery on the battlefield is beyond question, but he has also shown mercy amidst the brutality of The Red Army. He is indeed a hero."
I’m just glad I got to enjoy the glory days of CoD. I started with WaW and played that alongside MW. When MW2 came out that was my game. But to me BO was the beginning of the end. MW3 was the final nail IMO. After that it’s just garbage.
You know..... I do believe this is probably your best video Act Man... I know this video is old, but after watching your other well done critiques on other games, in my opinion this was the video that showed me how incredible a UA-cam video can be. I mean your passion for this game, and the way you edited it genuinely brought me to shed an uncontrollable tear or two. Seriously dude... Thanks for your contribution to UA-cam and the gaming community.
@Wickem The majority of people still want a campaign though. Black ops 4 didn’t have one and treyarch/ activision got flamed for it. And guess what? The next black ops game had a fucking campaign. It’s still a much wanted part of the game. Just because YOU personally skip it doesn’t mean that’s the majority. You have some serious bias and no self awareness clearly. If the majority didnt want one than treyarch wouldn’t have received all that backlash and than decided to put a campaign in the next game right? Sometimes you just gotta think logically bud, but clearly that’s no your strong suit.
I know this is an old video, but that moment when Reznov is scolding a soldier for taking time to write in a journal, but after he dies he takes the time to pick up the journal saying “someone should read this...” really hit me hard. Like throughout the game his moral standing is deteriorating, but that moment gives a glimpse into his humanity and reminds us that soldiers are just people at the end of the day. It’s moments like these that make the game so memorable for me.
The United States Of America it does. But I still think it was important for this game to have glimpses into the humanity of soldiers as a lot of games just have them act like mindless killing machines
that's a good point I missed..and I just replayed the campaign people in this company gave into there greed so I dont feel they would ever consider that again in a character development in the series or more In depth
Zombies is still great all the maps are super well made and have tons of effort put into then everyone just complaining because using your brain for once is too much for a FPS game. The new zombies maps are filled with so much to do and not just killing stuff over and over again.
This quote demonstrates the contrived attitude of children today. My generation is so concerned with being fed more and more, instantly, that they find no gratification in newness or interesting things. Only those things that immediately make you feel a tiny spark of greatness, then afterwards have zero substance. That is a perfect way to describe the zombies of old. They were good for their day. Just as Doom was for his day. And there's nothing wrong with appreciating them. But I for one, know that the nostalgia voices are speaking when folks say: "New zombies are waste." If every single map was a "Kino Der Toten" reskinned to be something different, the mode would've died long ago. Beg for mediocrity all you like, but complexity isn't a bad thing, if it is offered and not expected. There is no BO4 map or BO3 map, you can't just jump on, and shoot things like a mindless retard. I know, I did. But having that layer of depth, kept me playing. BO1? WaW? No, I played them a handful of times and begged the question: "Isn't insanity defined by doing the same thing more than once and expecting something different to happen?" And I quit. No one would prefer less customization, less camos, less guns, less maps, less thought put into multiplayer... But folks complain about zombies getting more. Foolish.
My biggest pet peeve has to be the new war quotes when you die. They must be running out of quotes as I've noticed more and more the quotes have been from characters in the game you're playing
i played this when i was like 8 back then and i didnt know anything about ww2, so when i saw the cutscenes i just thought to myself "haha funny japanese man screaming and pushing a person to a pit" so i never became scared of it until i was 12 and i learned alot about the horrible war crimes the japanese did
I like how Chernov's diary in the last mission actually changes depending on if you spare the surrendering germans or not and his view on you changes, it kind of accurately portrays how "heroes" are viewed one of them especially hits hard, if you only kill one German but leave the other two to burn he says "April 30, 1945: When he first spoke of Dimitri, Reznov told tales of a hero, someone we should all aspire to be like. At times, I have seen him show mercy, and at others, complete brutality. I do not understand him. Perhaps heroes need not question their actions. " this is perfect in the sense that war heroes aren't always the perfect moral warriors some see them as but as with everything in war, its not black or white, its gray, and war will always be gray life even itself is never black or white, it is gray, it is up to you whether a decision is a light gray or a dark gray.
games have gotten better in graphics and physics, and the open worlds have gotten much bigger but unfortunately censoreship has hit games more this decade than in the 2000s
Ya COD WW2 literally didn’t even have Hitler in it. Ya they had some German guy who kind of looked like him when your friend got taken but it wasn’t him. The saddest part was probably when you found the concentration camp.
This was the best call of duty ever. I will never forget the sequence where you have to choose between shooting or burning the surrendering soldiers alive. That really stood out to me.
Just beat this classic on veteran!!! I’m 26 now and my younger 11-12 year old self could never, ever beat blowtorch & corkscrew on veteran. Here’s to one hell of a game and an awesome video from the act man. Darkest and most brutal cod we will ever see. The shift away from content like this in todays age is exactly what will make this such a classic.
In David Attenborough's new documentary we see Japanese soldiers hiding in tree's and in the grass, and hang people that step out of cover eventually blowing them up, on the Russian side of things...
I first played WaW on the midnight release when I was 13. I played on veteran and completed every mission bar the last 2. I ended up going back through on regular due to absolute loss of sanity. I left veteran in the past and tried to regain some sanity. Now, 15 years later, on January 10th 2024 as I approach my 29th birthday…. I have completed the whole damned game on veteran. Jesus.
"How do you beat the game on Veteran?" "DON'T PLAY IT ON VETERAN" As someone who has played and tried to beat all levels on Veteran difficulty, don't fucking do it. There's a special place in hell for the people who programmed the game on Veteran difficulty.
fellow veteran comrade, remember all those hours lost on one section of some mission? all those nades we threw back or ran from? all those one shot kill fuckers? the fear from running from cover to cover? the metro station in eviction legit scared me, because i had my brightness down, and there was no checkpoint until the end of the mission. I remember this nazi that was behind cover in the darkness that i could only see when he shoot, i had a shotgun and i was out of range, but then i hear an explosion, and when the lights came back on that metro, i could not find his body, but on the center of on of the lights, it illuminated a hand and some blood, never knew if the hand was with the body or if it blew up, it was way too dark to see outside the light from the lanterns. i shit myself
Horrorfreak106 I completed it on veteran a few days ago, it's extremely hard but if you keep going, you will eventually get it, just get ready to rage and get PTSD from the grenades
I’ll never forget when I first played the campaign of this game when I was 9 years old and I was scared and shocked when I saw Dimitri wake up in the fountain in Stalingrad with all those crows eating his dead comrades and German soldiers executing the ones still alive. Edit: Here’s another story so I remember when I first played the mission Blood and Iron and it was so hard for me since I was new to FPS games and COD in general even though I was playing on recruit difficulty LOL. It was hard with all those Panzershrecks (don’t think I spelled that right), 88’s, and Tigers shooting at me from everywhere I was raging I had to take a break from the campaign and when I finally completed the mission I was so relieved.
Man those WWII Characters look like a pack of fukin teenagers mistaking the army for a High school party You forgot to mention how Hardcore the MEN Look like in World at War, Feels like they're actual soldiers rather than pretty boys Ironic that they didn't get that right when the best thing that WWII Game has is Graphics
I get your point, that in the new games they look like actors and not actual people. but ya also gotta remember that there were hundreds of thousands of soldiers that were teenagers. So when they showed up, of course they looked all "pretty". Cuz a month before they were enlisted, most of them were taking tests in school. I mean the average age of a US soldier on D-Day was 20 years old. like i said to start off, i get your point where now they Hollywood it up. But just remember, there were a lot of actual teenagers that fought that war.
you might be surprise how many soldiers in WW2 has the exact same details you've typed. Teenagers with party (adventure) as their motive, WW2 is not far from that.
True, Although that attitude won't last during their crawling in the mud and combat trainings I still would prefer lousy teens to be kept in games like until dawn And have me actual war veterans in Call of duty

That....actually works, by keeping it separate call of duty would have a grip on all three times, thus, fans may flock to whomever has the cod type they want. Hey mabye even all three could make a 3 part cod covering all that.
Sadly that wouldn't work bc all they care about now is making money and they want one game to be the main game for that year to squeeze every little dollar out of you they can by making you buy the game then give you barebones if you only buy the game unless you spend 100+ dollars buying all the features that should be free.
Yes but I think the teams would be fed up or fatigued after like 2-3 games. Imagine just finishing a WW2 game and you have to instantly work on a WW1 game. Asset Recycling may also become an issue.
I always got sad when the guy writing in his little diary died. You can tell reznov felt bad and kinda regret for getting mad at him. Taking his diary to give to his family.
And Black ops continues the whole story from the ending of w4w. Actualy we saw Reznov and the main character of w4w. "Dragovich... Kravchenko... Steiner... All must die" I think is a better sequal than the mw series
I still play CoDWaW with friends to this day on PC. It's easily the best version of CoD, amazing story, great multiplayer, and 100s of custom zombie maps better than official maps that use Black Ops1,2, and even Ghost guns and textures. Even better, all the DLC was released for free.
Mr. O'brien's book is probably my favorite. He really nails it. There are no morals in war. There is no political correctness. Great analysis! Keep up the great work bruddah!
One small thing I want to point out about this game compared to now. There is a clip in the mission intro and it’s a real person being executed. A real person actually dying and it’s right there. We see it. We watch it. A man’s life ended to show us the brutality of war. And nowadays, they don’t even dare to put the Swastika in a game so they don’t hurt the feelings of people that don’t even play the game. I feel like it’s an interesting thing to think about. How before they showed us real horrors of war, and now we get essentially low budget Hollywood movies.
Yeah I just played World at War for the first time after playing Vanguard. As soon as I saw the footage of the person being executed, I realized that this was a game that wouldn't be pulling punches in it's depiction of the second world war. I don't get offended at stuff because there's too many things that matter in life, but Vanguard...you might say that it offended me with it's "reimagining" of WW2. I'm all for historical fiction. But Vanguard hit me in a way that made me ask, "Am I mocking the people that fought and died in a very real war?" It sort of felt like it...
@@hl6816 I agree. I am playing a war game, I have mentally prepared myself to see real war depicted. I don’t want to be babysat in my play through. Show me the horrors so I can understand what these men, women, and children went through. “Reimagining” something like WW2 to me means like slight exaggerations, or one story combined from multiple. Not whatever Vanguard is. It’s just an embarrassment. I will play World at War 1000 times over before I ever buy Vanguard. I don’t understand how they can have a fantastic track record and do this. It’s the same with Battlefield. Fantastic games in succession, then garbage. They just lost the formula I guess.
We also see a nazi soldier/officer(?) get executed in a Russian cutscene, Russian partisans being hung, even a nuke exploding a city. This game has true balls
2008: Real events in a game and *DROP THE RAMP* 2019: The year is 2032. Robots suddenly existed one day, then they got sentient and killed billions of us. so yeah thats it
@@imran8880 some of my favorite movies don't try to be too clever with their tropes; they lean into the stupid side and just do it better than anyone else. Looking at John Wick in particular.
@@almondwater9583 overwatch takes place in the 2070s, however, robots becoming sentient and killing people happened before the main events of the game. in fact, robots existed since the 2030s but only became sentient after many advancements in technology after that point, not only that, but it explores the concepts of how each country deals with them, the aftermath, and the fall of overwatch itself. while it isn't based on any real events, it does explore those events as if they're real, not to say they're realistic, but it feels realer than other games
In the last mission intro when Reznov reads chernov's diary where he talks about dimitri you get multiple "stories" based on how evil you were in the game (If you had mercy or just straight wanted to see soldiers suffer) "...I do not understand him, perhaps heroes need not question their actions"
His quote depends if you spared the germans in the following 2 missions: "Their land, their blood"-the wounded germans lying on the floor when Reznov rescues you. " Eviction"-the germans who surrender before entering the metro, oddly if you kill them with a molotov Reznov will still say that Chernov should had shot them instead. If you spare all of them Chernov will call you a hero,if you kill them all, he tells you're no different than any Red Army soldier. And if you mix,he'll say he doesn't understand your actions.

in my opinion, the best aspect of COD WAW is that you're not a military badass, you're just somebody who answer the call of duty to serve in military on an ongoing war, and you're not become a strong military badass, you simply become battle harden through the fight, that's the core that makes the character in WAW is different compare to newer title, like modern warfare 3

I think is the only Call of Duty that has dismemberment.
I always found another part of WaW that gave a lot of depth and made you think about the horrible actions of warfare is in Chernov's perception of you shown at the beginning of the last mission as his diary is read. There are three different lines that can play, they all start out with:
"April 30, 1945: When he first spoke of Dimitri, Reznov told tales of a hero, someone we should all aspire to be like."
But depending on how merciless you have been during the campaign it will give a different ending:
"His bravery on the battlefield is beyond question, but he has also shown mercy amidst the brutality of the Red Army. He is indeed a hero."
"At times, I have seen him show mercy, and at others, complete brutality. I do not understand him. Perhaps heroes need not question their actions."
"His merciless brutality defines him only as a savage, just like the rest of the Red Army. He is no hero."
If you've been doing as Reznov says and killed surrendered and wounded Germans then it makes you regret how you've acted, which is quite a powerful thing for a game to do.
He is no hero."
If I was there at that time, and Chernov said this directly to my face, I'll refute his claim and ask him this:
"Did the Nazis show mercy, even to the helpless ones like the elderly, the women, and, most importantly, the innocent children, when they invaded the Motherland and massacred our brethren? They grazed the Motherland just so that they could recover from their humiliation, and you're telling me that I am a savage? I'm just being fair; they ravaged the defenseless in our soil, we'll do the same to them".
@@christophergepullano9029 Then that would still make you a savage. Just because the Germans were savages that doesn't mean you aren't one.
@@christophergepullano9029 You would be doing the same thing that the Nazis were doing then and claim to be their superior. The real question you have to ask yourself is how do you get justice without becoming a momster yourself.

Watching Japanese soldiers literally burying Chinese civilians in a pit alive is some of the most fucked shit you might accidentally come across on the internet in 2009 but these people strait had it in a game and you watched that shit as a teenager just awe struck before a mission even started
Most underrated cod
Patrick Thorpe You do know that the Marine Raiders was a special forces group right?
@@wolfplayer7815 That barely had anything to do with the story, you're still island hopping like a regular Marine all the way to Okinawa.

Yo I never realized the “no one will ever read this” and “someone should read this”
That deepens the story so much
It shows Resnov's true care for his soldiers.
Anyways, my two cents on one of gaming's most inspiring characters of the era.

this was the most difficult/rewarding COD game they ever made, every time you didn't get sniped, blown up or killed in anyway was tense beyond belief, because the moment you feel safe *zip, bang, pow* you get clipped by someone you couldn't even see, it kept you on your toes and in suspense. Yep I can relate. Just played the world at war again after watching this video.
I finally heat it on veteran the bight MW2 came out. Fuck me that spam was all it was.

I somehow managed to beat it on veteran once and was genuinely pissed when steam didn't give me an achievement for it.

Killing elder gods an getting a stink that shoot magic
Zombies is still great all the maps are super well made and have tons of effort put into then everyone just complaining because using your brain for once is too much for a FPS game. The new zombies maps are filled with so much to do and not just killing stuff over and over again.
Oopopp Opposite the only bad treyarch zombies game is bo4
Jack Cannady it’s definitely not as good as the other ones but it has some good maps like IX

Seinzshlaugen yessss
It had some feels
And Black ops continues the whole story from the ending of w4w. Actualy we saw Reznov and the main character of w4w. "Dragovich... Kravchenko... Steiner... All must die" I think is a better sequal than the mw series
His name was churnov.
This is fucking facts
Fuck you SJWs
I can't believe they fucking showed a real execution. That's metal as fuck!
We also see a nazi soldier/officer(?) get executed in a Russian cutscene, Russian partisans being hung, even a nuke exploding a city. This game has true balls
2008: Real events in a game and *DROP THE RAMP*
2019: The year is 2032. Robots suddenly existed one day, then they got sentient and killed billions of us. so yeah thats it
Tbh cliche and generic archetypes can be really really good if you know hot be creative around it and execute well. It's like cooking an omelete.
I read "Drop the ramp" and had flashbacks
@@imran8880 some of my favorite movies don't try to be too clever with their tropes; they lean into the stupid side and just do it better than anyone else. Looking at John Wick in particular.
Over watch in a nutshell
@@almondwater9583 overwatch takes place in the 2070s, however, robots becoming sentient and killing people happened before the main events of the game. in fact, robots existed since the 2030s but only became sentient after many advancements in technology after that point, not only that, but it explores the concepts of how each country deals with them, the aftermath, and the fall of overwatch itself. while it isn't based on any real events, it does explore those events as if they're real, not to say they're realistic, but it feels realer than other games
In the last mission intro when Reznov reads chernov's diary where he talks about dimitri you get multiple "stories" based on how evil you were in the game (If you had mercy or just straight wanted to see soldiers suffer)
"...I do not understand him, perhaps heroes need not question their actions"
dayum, his death and what he had written hit me hard every time
I need to play it again
Im gonna buy that game just so i can play the campaigne again
I think i was ambiguous
His quote depends if you spared the germans in the following 2 missions:
"Their land, their blood"-the wounded germans lying on the floor when Reznov rescues you.
This game brings so many memories, as a teen I played the campaign dozens of times. And when I was older, my best friend and I would hang out, burn some bush, and play Der Reise for hours. With the two of us, our highest score was round 32.
But personally, I like Nacht Der Untoten better.
