Riding Whistler's Unreal 'Dark Crystal' Trail | GMBN Epic Rides
Вставка
- Опубліковано 15 вер 2018
- One of the hidden gems of Blackcomb, Dark Crystal is a fast and beautiful trail which rewards those who make the long and difficult climb to the trailhead. Built to utilise as many of the natural features as the terrain offers, such as large rock slabs and a fast and loamy descent, Dark Crystal needs to be on your bucket list of trails. When out in Whistler Blake HAD to ride it.

Shout out to the cameraman who did that climb with all the camera gear
Probably had an ebike
Think e-bike
Looks like Blake carried his share of gear too 🤘
I think his name is Jack, i remember watching that Seth's bike hacks video. Really skillful dude as he carries that much gear in his bike and still manages ti take amazing shots
Shoutout to the camera who did that climb with all the mountain bike men.
Can you guys make a video of the camera guy? like what he has to go through following you guys around?
Yeah he needs to be in the spotlight for once
We have the best support crew
Nor sure the people behind the camera are there for a reason, now they will have to shave get there make up sorted as the camera people don't really bother why should they...
but then it would need another camera guy to video the camera guy properly.. what if someone then ask to make video of the second camera guy filming the 1st camera.. ugh my head hurts..
@@djokotriono7787 That gonna be so epic hahaha
So i guess the next vid is going to be "How to get rid of the creak in your linkage"😂
And more GMBN Epic Rides please
Lars Mathias Stoltenberg 😂😂 for sure haha
😂😂😂😂
Or "how to treat giardia"
@@tcasex ha that's funny my buddy got giardia a couple years ago climbing Huron
Sounds like a subject Doddy could spend an hour on!
0:04
Blake: “Single line obviously *glances at cameraman* because I have no mates..Oh well!”
Cameraman: *dies inside*
Haha this comment deserves more likes
Just returning to MTB after 15 yrs sitting on the couch, the GMBN is so 'epic' - Blake great videos , inspiring , now I can't stay of my bike.
Videos are always better when Blake gets on a bike.
That bike is creaking like mad I think doddy needs to take a look at it
@@Cleanmusiccuts Stop self-promoting, if you do that you won't get any people to watch your videos!!
riding a few weeks of whistler will do that im sure, doddy is in UK
whistler does that to bikes, it's a good idea to get your hands on fresh linkage bearings after a few days trip out there
the bike is ok, the mic is too sensitive
I've torn apart BBs and linkages trying to solve creaks and groans to no avail when a good wash solves all that ails my bike. Always give your bike a good bath before you go crazy with teardowns, new bearings, and regreasing.
I've got a fever, and the only prescription is more Blake/Whistler video drops! #allsmiles
Amazing video Blake really inspirational that’s what mountain biking is all about climbing to the top and getting your reward on the way down
And great work from cameraman jack too
Great video all round guys!
I have the same thought, mix of up and down. I Don't frown upon others who shuttle up though, to each his own i guess.
Ik also like the climbs. Plenty of time to look around and enjoy the views.
It's not what mtb is all about, having fun is what it's all about. Whether your doing dh or enduro that's up to you
One of the best videos in a LONG time
Agreed. Less T-Rex riding and "is my fat bike fun" vids and stick to the real thing like this one.
true
Some of the best editing yet from GMBN. Nice job - great trail!
Boy did I enjoy that Blake . Truly brilliant in every way THANK YOU
By far my favorite vid this channel has produced. Solo, heroic climb, potential disaster if injured, gorgeous scenery, and interesting factoids. Bravo.
Still one of my favourite videos on this channels! Thank's guys for your work!
Whenever I want to show someone what makes me so interested in riding a bike down a mountain, I show them this video.
Brilliant. You should do more of these UK based. Good to get more people away from the bike parks.
Love the way how Blake styles up his riding. Pleasure to watch
This look goood man, and Blake is so fast. Just amazing! Great work GMBN, Cheers
ye ? :D
Holy shit Blake thank you so much! Definitely gonna take my dad on that trail for his 50th birthday!!
One of the best trailbike-videos I've ever watched. Absolute amazing!
This is the first time I saw Gmbn video and introduced to Blake. This is why I subscribed as I was hooked, one of their best videos ever 👍
Great vid, thanks for sharing with us :) Looks like an AWESOME trail, and no arse puckeringly scary features, just great flow and enough in there to keep you honest and humble. Love it!
You guys really have the best channel. Such likable people doing fun things in beautiful places. I occasionally binge-watch during the winter months, wishing I could be on my bike.
EPIC! Any video with Blake in it, just makes it better, your personality is 1 of a kind man, def. Keeps me stoked! Thanks for the vid. Bro! 1 of these days I want to ride with you...that would be a dream lol I'd learn loads following you
Really my favorite GMBN video. I watch it once per month at least cause it makes me want to ride my bike soooooo hard. Also thanks Blake you're such an inspirational guy!
Spent last 3 days riding and watching this makes me wanna hit the trails again, right now!!
Blake is such a good entertainer ! Yes more trail riding videos just for entertaining fun !
Blake makes this trail look so easy, it’s one of the toughest single blacks in whistler. Rode it today with my son, snow, mud and hardtail, so awesome. Thanks for the entertaining video gmbn, quality content as usual.
Blake looked so happy when he pulled his camelback out of the water full of water.
Love it :)
This is what mountain biking is all about - downhill and UPHILL! I love climbing a great forest service road.
THIS TRAIL IS STUNNING!
Thanks a lot for the amazing content!
I hope I can ride this trail one day.
Absolutely amazing video!! Thanks to Blake and Jack for sharing that killer experience!!
Some places can't be unseen, it was a pleasure seeing your mind get blown at the terrain, trails and environment
That montage near the end around the 14 minute mark was just perfect. I could watch you ride all day, Blake :)
I smiled all the waay watchin this vid. Simply fabulous.
Fantastic ! Blake loved every second of it ❤️🌲🌲🚵🌲🌲👍👌😃😎
This video is one of my favorites. I still come back here a year on to remind me why this trail is on the bucket list
This was a really great video of a stunningly beautiful trail with the always infectious enthusiastic Blake !!! Best mtb UA-cam channel on the web !!!!
Awesome edit guys keep it up, Blake really nailed it in whistler, delivering sick content ty guys!
Just freakin' amazing!
Did anyone notice Blake's individual flow skills during those twists, turns and descends?
Great clip, loving your shots GMBN!

the production value on these edits is super high. Really good work GMBN keep it up!
My favouritest video from you guys so far.. Not long found the channel but loving it.
fANtasTIC edit, and riding! Good progression in this... kept me invested / interested throughout! Also, shoutout to Jack! with the gear and the strength/determination to follow Blake around. Bravo Gents.
So I’m 56 years old and taking delivery of my first mountain bike next week! I can’t tell you how much these videos have inspired me to branch out from my roadie background and finally get out on the dirt. We’ve been blessed here in Michigan to have a bunch of new trails recently and I can’t wait to try the green trails. Thanks to Blake, Jack, the crew and all the commenters. What a fantastic community I’m getting into. Peace.
Best edit you guys have done ever! Thanks for the content!
Blake possesses a unique blend of bike handling talent and personality. Well done to all in involved in making this video.
That’s the best GMBN video for a very long time. If I can wish for one thing to happen in future it would be more Blake _shredding_ like this. That hip jump (I think it’s called that) around 14:28 was super satisfying, even here at my desk. Top marks for editing, too - super enjoyable. :)
Love these vids definitely respect the skill you have Blake!
I LOVE This! There's Never enough climbing footage online!
10:00 I had to smile instandly because it reminded me of that last scene in un®eal, the dirt blizzard.
Great work from you two guys, makes me want to be there myself one fine day!
Glad to see you CAN go uphill too Blake, well done. An amazing video, more please!
This is still one of the best mountain bike video on UA-cam. Seriously makes you want to ride and appreciate riding
Just watched this video again and it’s still one of the best vids you guys have done 🤙🏻
I want to see more!! Camera man gets props and Blake you got so Stoked!! MORE - MORE - MORE:)
Some of the best filming and riding on the internet, well done boys loved it!
epic video Blake! You motivated me with your videos and your innate grace a year ago and since then I just want to descend. thanks for teaching me with your tutorials and always with a smile! thanks friend 😀 Dragon Park Sevilla
I've done the trail myself and it is every bit as good they say it is, it is truly awesome!
Blake You created great climate in this clip. Great music at the end as well. Epic.
Dude! what an Awesome Trail Wowwww!!! Thanks for showing us Man..EPIC!!!
It would be epic to ride with you Blake .You inspire a lot of fellow mountian bikers watching your videos has inspired me immensely. Thanks Blake and GMBN .RIDING WITH BLAKE WOULD BE EPIC .
That is an amazing trail!! Great driving from Blake of course!! 👍
I'm planning a trip with 1 day in Whistler. Pretty sure I just found my ride. This is exactly what I love: heart-pounding, sweaty uphill with a massive payoff back down.
Grab a Worca Trail map from a store in Whis, not only will your money contribute to new trails/trail upkeep, but you'll be able to figure out how to loop in a few more amazing trails in that area 🤘
@@gmbn Fantastic! Thanks for the tip. 🤜🤛
really cool video! Blake's humor + epic trails= really epic vid, hope to see more of this kind of ride from you bro but using again your hardtail to make em' more epic.. keep it up bro your really a great presenter! cheers mate :)
Mate I loved watching this!! Just shared it to my mate who works there to see if he knows about it!! Ebthusiasm through the ROOF as always. Stay safe you "Beautiful People "💪💪💪💪
Speechless!! Absurdly awesome and THE most epic video!!!
Damn Blake can shred! Nice work bru! 🇿🇼 Epic video, all.
Guys what an AWESOME looking ride.....nice one boys and thanks for the share 🚵♂️🚵♂️😎😉
Next episode Blake deals with unending diarrhea from "mountain water"
#beaverfever
While it is true that you can contract an illness by drinking "mountain water", the chances of it actually happening with fast flowing and aerating water are as low as us (as in you and I) living to see the apocalypse. Fortunately, that very same mountain water contains minerals you would not get from either tap, well, or bottled water, which can actually aid in better performance, because you may not have even known you were deficient in those minerals! If you also use a purifying tablet, that further reduces the risk down to .01%. I know, because I drank water straight from a creek near my home town. I knew it was spring water, cause it was always around 40F, and it was always crystal clear. Of course, I started off with a small amount to see if there were any contaminants. There were none. I found this actually surprising considering I was about 1500ft vertically below the spring. When I later went back, I did decide to purchase some purifying tablets and use them when I filled my hydration bladder, along with a charcoal inline filter. To this day, I have not gotten sick from drinking mountain water.
I grew up drinking spring water at the local park as well as from a stream or two. No tablets. No charcoal. I'm quite fine.
Warren Linke still, gonorrhea or any of the other waterborne illnesses are not fun things to get. I have a rule: Play it safe unless the risks are worth it.
Yeah a ketadyn weighs 11oz. Way worth the extra weight.
That was sublime! Thx for sharing 🤙🏽
One of my favorite gmbn videos to date!
Love your enthusiasm dude.
Love watching Blake's vids.... seeing how much he enjoys his riding, messing about, grinning like a Cheshire cat... don't matter how shit your day has been, he just cheers you up and life don't seem that bad really :)
A+ content; This gets me super psyched!
That was truly an epic ride. I love to climb rather than get a lift as often the rides are just that much more satisfying. It makes the ride that much better plus you don’t get the crowds. Great video - I really loved it. Absolute favourite and inspiring. Thank you.
loving these whistler vids guys. So jelly I cant go there anytime soon
Another EPIC Blake vid.
Great vid! I love the enthusiasm you all have for riding - it's very infectious. I'm only 700 miles from Whistler so maybe I should pop up there sometime!
Thank you GMBN !
Sick edit for a sick trail Blake! Everyone who worked on it can be proud I reckon!
Just great!
I‘d love to see more of it!
Thank you very much for doing this video. I have been to Whistler a few times and did not know those trails existed.
That was an absolute epic shred! That could be my favorite mountain bike video
Studying is done man & my dark crystal exam starts in September & I can't wait🤗 I never been so excited to take a test.
What an epic video. Good to see you took the hardway and not the easy way like everyone these days
Nice bike, awesome trail, great shots of some skillful riding.
Yep, you definitely get a thumbs up.
Awesome! Cheers from Portugal
Epic trail, Epic video. Definitely one of your best videos. How can anyone thumbs down this video?
Wow Blake looks like he's loving it I know I'm a bit late here but what an epic place whistler is and that dark crystal looks sick
yes this another one of the better gmbn vids
"look at this" yes mate, nice scruffy bridge, mind blowing!
Love this vid man.
Well yes we do want to see more of that content
To ride bikes is fun. To ride bikes and have the ride become an entire adventure, that's the funniest !
Blakes videos are the best!!!!! So entertaining:D
Awesome ride. Glad you have so much fun here in the YVR.
Maaan this was epic!
Blake you really are my spirit animal :P

Love these videos. Keep them coming !!
Great video Blake, I got to ride it when it was still secret and it was worth the risk for sure.
Thanks you for sharing your Whistler stoke and bike riding steeze as well.
I travel 4500 kms almost yearly since 2004 to get my Whistler stoke, and I live in Canada.
I love your channel lads. Keep up the good work.
