Hey GMBN I rode this trail on the final Saturday of Crankworx. It was cold and windy at the top that day, which was nice because there were no mosquitos. Most epic ride I've ever done, not an easy climb but it's certainly doable if you're in decent pedaling shape. Just make sure to bring plenty of water and snacks. Also I ran into Blake while walking around the village one day. 🤙Super cool dude. Can't wait to go back next year.
I think there are a lot of fans of gmbn like me who want to watch videos like this about exploring nice mountains, nature e.t.c. without dangerous jumps and descents. What better to be with your bike and have only your helmet and a bag (not knee pads, armor e.t.c)? This video is very motivating that makes me to plan a similar epic ride in the future... We want more like this.
I like it also that you give your cameraman more space in this Video! I like it to give the crew more appreciation for their work and that they often have to ride with you and the extra stuff for filming. Makes fun to watch this!
THIS is mountain biking. No lift pass/fee. Just human against gradient amongst trees (and flies). These trails are the origin story of Whistler. I am not a great rider, but I fully appreciated this video and appreciate these sort of trails that Whistler offers. I even tried going up to where Blake rode a few years ago (Hey Bud) , taking Micro Climate instead (which was killer tough for me). A more within reach set of trails was Yummy Nummy up and Comfortably Numb down - that gave you a "blue+" level of challenge with a lot of great scenery/epic views. Even the flatter woodland trails - for me, "A River Runs Through It" - had variety and challenge...like a bear tracking me on a straight line while the trail curved back on itself. Anyway, more of this content would be great!
Slowly catching up on some great GMBN content. I absolutely loved this video. Blake + Hardtail + Adventure = Pure MTB 🤟🤟🤟 Please come back with more of this content guys!
Yes, please, more adventure stuff like this including the climbs and the miserable bits. More mountains, more ‘outdoors’, less racing, less performance measurement. Just get out and ride! And how about more credits for the camera-people and crew - they must be serious riders too.
I’ve done Lord of the Squirrels every time I go to Whistler, which is 3-4x a year. I can confirm, the climb is brutal, never gets easier, and the lake at the time is the best dose of cold shock proteins you can imagine before you descend. It may be a blue, but like other trails such as Moab with huge all-day climb and descends, it is totally worth it. Great video dudes!
Great video guys. Squirrels is truly an epic ride. From a Whistler local, the better option then going up Sirloin is up Piece of Cake, to Danimal, to Industrial Waste, to the Flank trail which takes you to Into the Mystic. Much more of an enjoyable and direct climb. Sirloin is just so punchy and then you have a longer traverse on the Flank to Mystic.
What a great video. Every time I see a Blake video that I totally love, he ups the game. One of my favourites for sure. And the camera man on a non-ebike. Mind blown. Need to see an exclusive behind the scenes video of the support crew on these rides. Now that would be a great video!! Well done GMBN. Content gold 🤩
This is by far one of my all time favorite video. Added to my bucket list. Will split my visit to Whistler and this will be a most try for sure 👍💪✌️🚴♀️
Thanks Blake, and yeah Props to Joey! I'm from BC, I rode this trail with couple of Buddies in 2018. Effing Brilliant trail. Put in those miles to prep for the climb (make the trainer miles tolerable thinking of this trail) It is worth it. So, so worth it. Start early, take your time, stay fueled up.This adventure is on the books again for next year!
Was up there last week, the climbs are just brutal, and feel never ending. The sign by the into the mystic gateway has a warning "Sept 9th, Grizzly sighting, eating berries". Just a whole different adventure.
Nicely done! My riding buddy and I rode the climb for lord of the squirrel and got turned around part way due to bear activity. I think you got lucky to ride the whole thing.
That was one of the best videos i ha e seen on the channel. I have been wondering about this trail for a while now. Thank you for this!! I live 10 hours drive away in Banff, and i will definitely make my way there next summer!! Anyone wanna join?!! Hit me up!
Great video. We rode lord of the Squirrels end of August... The climb is definitely hard and long. Kudos to you guys carrying camera gear all the way up! But the top is very beautiful and descent is long and fun 😂(although I would rate it blue - black vs other blue trails in other places, quite techy, roots/rocks/slabs). Really awesome trail
Have you been on any epic adventures recently!? Let us know down below! 👇

Biked my first century this weekend! ~40% singletrack!

GMBN, take heed!
💯
Very much agree! This is more what MTB’ing is for most of us
We always enjoy filming chilled scenic rides from time to time! We're so stoked you enjoyed this one! Thanks for the support! 🙌
This video got me hype to go get my miles up

Absolutely agree! Great comment.
People forget the cameraman do everything as well
We need "A day in the life of a cameraman" video :D
It's always great to show some of the crew in the videos! Thanks for watching! 🤘
"A day in the life of a cameraman" sounds like a good idea! 👍
Blake continues to demonstrate why MTB is the best sport hobby there is... period. Thank you.

Mad props to Joey! No ebike with all that kit is savage. 1800m I cannot even imagine that i think the most I've done in one hit is like 500!?
Joey did a sick job filming this video! It was a tough challenge for both of them, but they made light work of it! 🤘
Yea that mush have been crazy hard. I once did 1100M on a 200 dolar hardtail and i felt it for DAYS. But downhill was amazing.

Will do! We love filming adventures just like this one! We are so lucky to have a sick crew behind the scenes that bring these videos together! 👊
thanks for taking HARDTAILS on another level!
This is one of my favourite Blake/Scout videos. Love it. ☢️
Thanks, Richard! We appreciate the support! 👊
Thank you for bringing Canada into the lime light...............Lots of wilderness here, and beautiful scenery to enjoy on the rides.
These kind of videos are the best, real mountain bike aventures.

I love the positivity that Blake brings out of people, especially with Martin. Everybody needs a Blake in their life
These are the types of trails I prefer; more wild and scenic. Thank you!
I cannot say just how much I enjoyed this, pure MTB heaven.

I love Blake's Scout 290. My black frame arrives tomorrow and I can't wait to build it up. This is such a great video
"It's not for the faint-hearted."
Should've added "literally".
It's been a while since we had a hardtail trail riding from Blake. I love it. XD
This is by far one of my all time favorite video. Added to my bucket list. Will split my visit to Whistler and this will be a most try for sure 👍💪✌️🚴♀️
Blake’s videos are always the best.
I am not a huge fan of the big jump lines in Whistler, but I would love to go just for this ride.

This ride looks amazing, and every time I see a video with Blake's new Scout I get this overwhelming desire to order the same frame for a new build!
Awesome. I definitely prefer the backcountry exploration content.

The trail videos are excellent! I'd love to check this one out, thank you for showing it off 💙
Y’all are rockstars.
Thats the content we love😍🤟🤟🤟 great ride man 😁
Love this video. More of this and less videos called '10 reasons why hardtails rule' please. Keep up the good work
Love this video. I love to see Blake on hardtail independent from them being hardcore techy trail or not.
Thanks Blake, and yeah Props to Joey! I'm from BC, I rode this trail with couple of Buddies in 2018. Effing Brilliant trail. Awsome, awsome video! What a fantastic adventure!
Feels like the Lord of the Squirrels name was a subtle warning about the flies.
Awesome ride lads! Fantastic job and very entertainment to watch. :)
need more vid like this from different location around the world 🤗
Awesome ride and great to see you bigging up the camera guys 🤩 they deserve a lot more credit 👍

More like this!!
Definitely looks like an EPIC adventure !!!!!
It really was! 😂
Next week. Blake recovering from giardia.
freedom in nature
07:50 reminds me of the scene in Alien: Covenant 😄😄😄. Are you sure that the bears are greatest danger there, and not the xenomorphs🤔?
Wow man, what a ride, what a video, you guys are such entertaining, loved it.
Glad you enjoyed it, Daniel! Cheers! 👊🤘
"mY FeEeEt My FeEt" best part of the trip and the vid
I defenitly would like to see more videos like this.
Really awesome trail
more epic ride pleaseeeee
I've ridden this trail = EPIC high alpine riding!!! It's been since 2019, but plan on trying to ride it again this coming weekend. UGH! LOL
This is my kind of riding!
