    I've never played drums, but I still love your videos!

    Agreed. This is the BEST song ever for feeling seven. It's such a smooth groove it doesn't feel jerky at all and totally natural. I count it as groups of 4's and 3's. Lune is the most awesome song ever and feels so good to play. Getting the high hat lope really going took me a while. Great job as always dude !

      Oh yes I feel it divided into 4 and 3 too and it's just a super awesome song with so much feel. Thanks Nick and I'm happy to hear you got your hi hat sorted out :)

    This is sick you're sick. I'm a metal singer who does a lot of drum programming P1 style, these are super helpful for me to see further into a drummers mind

    Perfect, Wei! I love your approach on how you pack it up with music loops and jam sessions to expand on it. It's a very musical and practical way of learning groovees and fills, which makes it very efficient.

    • @ArtOfDrummingHQ
      @ArtOfDrummingHQ  6 років тому

      That's how I do it with all my students, the music is really important :) How's your drumming going Cyberillusions?

    • @CyberIllusions
      @CyberIllusions 6 років тому

      Thanks for asking, Wei! I'm working on a paradiddle book, which deals with a Thomas Pridgen sort of concept. It's groove based for the most part with lots of examples, how to expand on paradiddle grooves and rudimental drumming in general. Cheers!

    • @ArtOfDrummingHQ
      @ArtOfDrummingHQ  6 років тому

      Oh that's nice, I was working on paradiddles and rudiments before going into all these progressive stuff but I'm thinking of going back into them thanks to you :) I'm interested to know what is that thomas Pridgen concept you're talking about though?

    • @CyberIllusions
      @CyberIllusions 6 років тому

      Basically it spices up paradiddle grooves. For example, you take a 16th paradiddle sticking/groove and apply some 32nd note patterns to it. So, I took this concept even further, to add and build up step by step rolls/rudiments to it, until the grooves become very dense - double bass included. Like I said before, everything is groove based, so the stuff is very applicable and 'digestible' to your every day 2 and 4 grooves.

    • @ArtOfDrummingHQ
      @ArtOfDrummingHQ  6 років тому

      Ahh, very nice, I'll keep that in mind when developing and practicing my own grooves. That kind of stuff can't be applied enough with so many combinations. Happy drumming!

      Hey thanks Rutllan, out of curiosity are you a guitarist or drummer first?

    • @rutllan1722
      @rutllan1722 6 років тому

      Wei Lung Wong, I play both, but my main instrument is guitar. However, I think your videos help me as a guitarist in a way most of guitar instructional videos won’t

    • @ArtOfDrummingHQ
      @ArtOfDrummingHQ  6 років тому

      That's a pretty big compliment thanks, I'm curious as to what this video helps you with as a guitarist?

    • @rutllan1722
      @rutllan1722 6 років тому

      Wei Lung Wong You know, for me music is divided into two pillars: rythm and harmony. As a guitarist, I’m constantly bombarded with scales, chords, melodic lines, etc. Which is pretty useful. However, I feel like I’m lacking more rythmic diversity to make my music more interesting. And with this videos, I learn how accents can change the dynamics, and with polyrythms and unusual measures my own songs are sounding more pleasing to hear. And of course these accents you remark, which before remained almost invisible to me, are helping me to play my scales in a more distinct way, so my solos hopefully are becoming more tasteful :)

    • @ArtOfDrummingHQ
      @ArtOfDrummingHQ  6 років тому

      Whoa that's awesome to hear, but vice versa in that regard I could use some help in the melodic and harmonic side of things haha. Are you with a band or are you doing your own solo project?

    I'm a really big fan of your videos! Your approach to any song or any lesson is just magnificent, the layout(with notes underneath and writings to explain what you do) is just great! And your drumming, it's spot on. Keep up the good work!
    By the way, I really like your drum sound! What do you use for recording, and how do you get that great sound?

    • @ArtOfDrummingHQ
      @ArtOfDrummingHQ  7 років тому

      Hey there Olex, I'm using the sounds from the Roland TD-30K drum module recorded into a Scarlett Focusrite interface into Ableton. My audio engineer then helps me to mix and master everything on Pro Tools.
      Hope that helps and thanks for your compliments :)
