wei lung wong, just wanted to tell you how much your videos have helped me. i don't know how your channel isn't bigger. you have tons of excellent content. I'll keep spreading the word. thank you!
“Any fool can make something complicated. It takes a genius to make it simple.” you take complex concepts and break them down where anyone can comprehend. We all love you so much!
Thanks Jim, when I look at these older videos I realize that I could have made them even clearer. So I really appreciate the kind words and quote :) Thank you so much Jim!
Hey little bro! You're not getting near enough of the love you deserve! Thank you for producing what you do! In fact, for proof, I want you to know that I of the two things I am working on right now, one of them is the herta kick pattern that you covered in one of your other videos (Hi Matt Gartska, you sick savage that I adore more than all!) We love what you're doing! Know that you have fans that appreciate your efforts! Don't stop.
Thanks a lot Austin! I hope your herta kick pattern is coming along nicely. I'm not stopping although I did take a break to address some issues and work commitments. But I'll be back tomorrow with another release and after that many more. Your support is GREATLY appreciated!!
Keep making Videos! Your stuff is smoothly edited, has a decent sound and - most important - you really break down difficult topics into understandable Parts. Really Great!
Very great explanation, must try it,sometimes to me its difficult to switch from 3/4 to 4/4 in middle of song, must practice better to get those feel in 3/4 and 4/4,thank you Mr Wei
Hey Wei Lung! Thanks for the excellent video as always! I have exercise 2 tabbed out in GuitarPro on the drums. I have it set up exactly as you have it notated in the video, but the transitions are not smooth like how they are for you in the videos. Why is that? I have a constant tempo set for 100 bpm, and I have the time signature changes set up properly (I quadruple checked). Does the tempo actually change? Is my computer not as good at keeping time as you are (and Anika too)?
Did you change the time signatures? If you did, then the perceived tempo of the new time signatures will change. Try keeping to 1 time signature the whole way through for example 6/8. Look at 2:53 for what I'm talking about. So for the top one, add kick drum on the 1st hi-hat and add snare on the 4th hi-hat which will give you the groove in 6/8. And the 2nd one, Add kick drum on the 1st hi-hat and snare on the 5th hi-hat which will give you the groove and feel in 3/4. Then look at 4:39. The 2nd one, add kick drum on the first hi-hat and snare on the 7th hi-hat and you will get the groove in 4/4 feel. Notice that they're all written in the same time signature 6/8. Hope that helps, if you have any more questions feel free to ask!
@@ArtOfDrummingHQ Thanks for the response Wei Lung! I will give this one another go and see if I can figure it out. Seems like I took the time signature "change" to be literal.
Whao I really enjoyed the song, but I'll have to listen to it more carefully to see if I can come up with an interesting lesson for it. I really love Gavin Harrison, Tommy Igoe, Virgil Donati and Benny Greb too! How about you?
Yes i love that song too. I'm a fan of Virgil Donati too..as well as Todd Sucherman, Thomas Lang, George Kollias, Dennis Chambers, Tony Royster Jr. Have you watched any Travis Orbin drum videos? Hes a favorite as well
So, if I understand you correctly, 8th triplets in 4/4 give you the same number of notes per bar as 16ths in 3/4, and the difference between them is where the accent falls? Like if you have a constant pulse of 12 notes and accent every third, it feels like 8th triplets in 4/4, and if you accent every fourth, it feels like 16th in 3/4? Anyway cool video. You have a really great channel and you're an impressive drummer. Have a nice day!

Much appreciated Jonathan, cheers!

I love Anika Nilles. I would love to see her do a clinic in the United States. Do you think you could do a video on the song by Tesseract 'Nocturne'
She's in Los Angeles this week for NAMM though. I haven't heard of that, let me have a listen :)
I hope you enjoy that song. What other drummers do you like besides Anika and Matt G.?
Whao I really enjoyed the song, but I'll have to listen to it more carefully to see if I can come up with an interesting lesson for it. I really love Gavin Harrison, Tommy Igoe, Virgil Donati and Benny Greb too! How about you?
