    Very interesting review. Helpful in many ways, confusing in others. Here's mine. I love my 2023 Tiger 900 Rally Pro. All the pros you mentioned. I hate the "control panel display" in it's user interface. I hate the gas mileage I get which is, maybe 43/MPG and gives me 150 miles or so per tank. I heard all about the vibration but to me it's fine. Overall I love it and am very very happy with it.

      GT versions don't really have much of vibrations. I tested 2023 GT Pro, and this week tested 2024 Rally Pro, and after 15min break tested 2024 GT Pro.
      2024 GT Pro, no real vibrations. Very smooth.
      2023 GT Pro, in higher RPMs one can find some, but really not a problem.
      However, 2024 Rally Pro does have some vibrations. For example, the Rally Pro version had accessory foot-peg, thus no rubber inserts. After 1.5h ride, my left foot was tingling. Left hand wasn't tingling, but was about to start too.
      I also tested both models at 60, 65, 70, 75, 80 mph in 6th gear on cruise control. Simply touch handlebars with fingers. There's a very clear difference between GT and Pro models. The same was noticed by some other reviewers as well.
      I also think that 2023 GT Pro vibrates less than 2024 Rally Pro. However, 2024 don't have any vibrations in the seat anymore due to new seat. But that seat now is less comfortable sadly.

      I think the crash bars are adding vibrations to the bike because it’s more rigid with the crash bars.

    There is a preload adjuster on the front forks specifically to rake the bike out for off-road. This adjustment is not fitted to the GT range. The idea is you do not touch it on-road and it is only to give this bike an off-road rake. Triumph recommend for off road you also dump the rear preload completely, absolute minimum so along with adding front preload the bike now has an off road geometry. You totally missed this, as do all reviewers.

    • @adv-moto
      @adv-moto  2 роки тому +1

      Preload works on the Triumph just like it does on other bikes. According to you, the preload on a motorcycle with one small rider without load should be adjusted in the same way as when riding with a passenger and panniers. Plus, "off-road" can be called a huge number of situations with different speed ranges. If it were that easy, hardenduro bikes wouldn't have adjustments.

      I own the 2020 Rally Pro and just rode it from NYC to Orlando and back, most of the time cruising between 80 - 85 mph. Yes, there is some vibration, but not enough to distract or bother me at all. I found it to be a comfortable, relaxing and enjoyable ride. Everyone is different when it comes to how sensitive they are to vibrations, so I recommend taking one on a test drive. I love the bike and do not regret the purchase at all. Although I have to say my only real disappointment has been that the My Tiger system for directions on the TFT sucks and isn't worth using or investing in - the navigation portion supposedly is from Google, but it is NOT google maps and the information in the app seems outdated and inaccurate (no exit numbers for most highways and incorrect exit names, street names, etc.) just use google or apple maps and mount your phone on the handlebars.

      owns the 2021 Rally Pro and has now driven 6,000 miles.
      The steering wheel vibrates at an average of 85 to 95 miles
      This probably gives some cause to the 21-inch tires.
      My solution was to use the Barkbuster handle guard and the weight of the handle to offset some of it, and now I'm having a lot of fun. The Tiger 900 Rally Pro is certainly a very good option for the same price range.

    Great review. I rode a Rally Pro in the States in August and was very taken with it vs my Africa Twin Adventure Sport DCT ES. Lighter and more nimble yet much more planted even with it’s 50:50 on/off road tyres. Tall for my short legs but doable all the same. Great riding position and that engine which will pull top at under 2,000 rpm without complaint. I don’t like the fashion driven crank which tries to emulate a V twin with nonsense about more torque. It’s lost the turbine smooth power delivery of a 120 degree triple. Not a deal breaker all the same. It’s giving away 200cc to the Honda yet felt much livelier not least due to the reduced weight. I would venture off road on the Tiger and never on the ATAS. Quite probably my next bike.

    You make a point about compression ratio. Without knowing the cam timing it’s not a useful measure. What matters is the torque/power outputs across the rev range which is the best comparison. My friend’s Tiger Rally is very economical ridden smoothly plus he had a DNK Tuneworks remap plus the same on his Speedmaster. The Speedmaster managed a staggering 3.4 litres per 100km over a 650 mile trip mixing freeways/back roads and keeping up with the Tiger. Amazing what can be done.

    How does a Tiger 900 compare up against the 850GS if the BMW is 4000 Euros cheaper to buy. Would a suspension upgrade on the Beemer bring it closer to the Tiger's dynamics on and off road?

    • @adv-moto
      @adv-moto  Рік тому +1

      In Spain, the difference is only 2,000 € when compared to the 900 Rally and the 850 GS.
      850 has a problem with the fact that it is a little worse on the little things - just for these 2000 euros.
      For example, has a slightly smaller range. The brakes are a little worse, dynamics, windshield, seat, weight.
      A significant pros of the BMW is that it does not have annoying vibes at some highway speeds. Plus, BMW have better warranty conditions and a wider dealer network.
      It's about the same with restyling - it's quite difficult to buy pre-styling car for almost the same money and know that buttons and fabric are better on the new one. Nothing critical, both bikes play on the same field.

    Now, off-road riding: I go off-road riding often an I adapt myself to the low torque engine...keeping the rev at 5000rpm to sustain the torque adequate to my riding speed. TRIUMPH should keep the old firing ingtion. Well... seems that it would be a Ducati desert x.

      I love Tracer 9, but this bike is sooo different. Simple: Tiger 900 GT is very-very versatile bike, ready for long journeys with passenger, ready for bad roads, easy trails, etc. Tracer 9 not so comfy for tall guys, not so comfy for passenger, not so comfy and can be dangerous for trail-riding, but it's very light and funny bike on twisty roads. More stiff and sporty than Tiger 900 GT (I mean suspension & geometry, not engine). It's like old sports-touring bikes like Honda VFR800F, but with much more comfort for rider. It's something like S1000XR, but 2 times cheaper (and not so powerful).

    • @adv-moto
      @adv-moto  2 роки тому +3

      I have ridden all types of Africa Twin, but there are no plans to do a review.
      When comparing 2 bikes directly, Tiger 900 is more comfortable and feels smaller and lighter, although they are close in weight. This can be neglected.
      Africa Twin has versions with DCT, so if you buy an everyday bike, Africa Twin wins only due to this advantage. A motorcycle with an automatic transmission is a fresh experience anyway - bikes are bought for emotions, for traffic jams it is a wonderful thing.
      If you remove DCT, I like the Tiger - more balanced suspension (even Rally). Africa has too soft suspension and somewhere on the twisty roads it feels like you are riding an off-road motorcycle, not a road bike. The Tiger has a good balance, it is more pleasant on the pavement - even Rally. On GT version amazing suspension for pavement and light off-road.
