Hello. My best friend finally talked me into a plant room. I will get a new plant every 2 weeks. I started with this beautiful little plant thank you for all your information. Can you please tell me what that tree is behind you with the really cool leaves. I am so new at all this and i'm overwhelmed but I love that.
Love this video! I have had two Begonia Maculatas for almost a year and have only been bottom watering them from a tray with LECA that they are constantly sitting in (though the plant is in soil). I add water to the LECA tray it sits in every week or so, or whenever the tray is empty and the plants are thriving.
Good video. I almost bought a Maculata Begonia today, but I'm going to wait. Got a Rex Begonia, and I also have a Argenteo Guttata Begonia....But, my favorite plant is my Stromanthe Triostar!
Just recently purchased a few cane Begonia's from Steve's Leaves :) Finally snagged a Begonia Luxuriant & keeping fingers crossed I can keep Alive. Oh, I also have a Maculata.
If the leaves have fallen off due to overwatering or too much sun etc. it’s better to leave it - try and alter the conditions - so they are correct and see if the plant will put out some new growth. To prune a vulnerable plant is to put more stress on it
@@ronniesbabygirl22 in my experience the browning tips can be from watering without letting it sit for a day or two…. Not necessarily a humidity issue. If you already leave your water our try adding humidity
I was given one as a gift. Mine is sprouting a few new canes. I noticed however, that my bigger leaves are brown along the edges. Do you know the cause?
Could be from several different things like too little or too much water and or light - is it on some or all of the leaves. Not too worry if it’s just some, may have to try and improve the conditions
I love mine but I have this issue where towards the base of the plant the leaf ends always shrivel up and then the leaf dies, idk what to do, I have a humidifier and it’s under a grow light, staked and I repotted it recently to see if that would help but no luck yet. Any advice?
I just received a Rex Begonia and I am thoroughly confused about the soil I should be using. Is it true it should not have soil, just perlite with peat moss and vermiculite. Absolutely love your videos!
Elaine, how exciting! I love Rex begonias - In terms of soil mix for these plants, you want to ensure its a light, airy and fast draining mix. Do you know which variety you have? Perlite, peat moss and coco coir maybe with a smaller pieces of bark should work great.
Florescent light does nothing for plants. When thinking of light requirements you should only be considering natural light (from windows) or grow lights.
@preshous Hartford fluorescent light will work if it’s close enough. Nothing beats sun but if you have no east window to place the plant by, or south facing window with filtered light (like a sheer curtain) then grow lights can work, fluorescent or otherwise. Best growth with grow lights - but light is light.
So I’ve watched this back at normal speed and then 1.25 and then 1.5 speed and I prefer the 1.25 speed I think it would be wise to try invest in some sort of speed regulated auto queue which will try keep you at the correct tempo. I suspect that your quite a fast speaker anyway but are trying to slow down a bit…. Don’t do it just go for it like normal & we will catch up
I just bought one of these today..! I'm always confused about bright indirect light... I have south facing windows in my living room (A slider door and a reg window). Would the TV stand on the opposite wall be bright? This is a small house, no mansion. Lol.

I think it's a ficus lyrata

your video is objective and didactic. Thanks! Greetings from Brazil
Thanks for watching!
What if it’s a baby begonia with one leaf? How long would I wait to repot? It’s in a teeny tiny pot like 3 inches
"They're a show-er and a grow-er" haha
Lol 😂
They have a fantastic look.
Loooooove them!

Very nice!! ✨🪴
Can this plant be cut all the way back and start over. All my leaves died off but I do have one healthy green stem

Hello, I just bought one with dying leaves. I want to save it, any info will help on how can i care for it. Thanks
That’s great that you’re going to save it! The crucial care tips I share will help bring it back.
Do they like humidity mines leaves are getting crispy 😢
Do you let your water sit overnight?
What do you mean ? Yes I leave my water in milk jugs sit for days before watering my plants and also use rain water

What about leaves curling?

Beautiful plant..
thank you!
Hi, does this plant has to be by a window? If not, is a fluorescent light good for it?
I keep mine in bright indirect light! I think i can handle some direct light.

Bright indirect light means inset from the window so it’s not getting intense direct sunlight
Are you ever cute. That's all :)
😊
No inglish😭😭😃
Sorry!
