- Brazilian surfer Gabriel Medina had an instantly iconic reaction after scoring a 9.90 at an Olympic competition. It was not only the highest score of the day, but the highest score in Olympic history since the sport made its Summer Games debut.

To those that don't surf, this is a 'fly away' kickout and the picture is taken from the back of the wave as it has passed the photographer. Regardless, Gab is an awesome surfer and that is a brilliant pic.

@@lifeintornadoalley the photographer couldn’t have taken the picture if the surfer didn’t do this. Props to them both. Good God. Give the man his flowers. The surfing was amazing. The idea that you would minimize this person, given what they just accomplished, toward what end? Who are you? What have you done?
Credits to the photographer, but that’s a sick pic to be the guy in it 😂… it was after his 9.90 wave, the highest score for a single wave in any olympics heat! Gabriel is our 🐐 in 🇧🇷, and he came for gold!

If you want to look that epic standing on the ground is not easy, it takes a few poses. Medina did it on air, and the Photographer was there and did it's marvelous job. Perfect Duo.

@kryptosuperdoggaming this is edited too looks at the erased rectangular shape by his feet. The sea is also cropped & edited. I could have & have done a better job. To say it's amazing it just shows folks haven't a clue today & are more guillable due to technology & editing. Not that this was done well either. Yes he may have done a good surf but the image is not the event that happened.

If you see the video it all makes sense. He got pushed out and up at the end of the wave. Its actually very common, the surfers wave etc. This shot is a great illusion. 👏🌊

Your input is not useful, but I have put up a new comment after someone finally showed me the video instead of the poor edited photo which I stated I would like to see. Out of hundred of comments only one person finally found me the video & not just the shoddy edited photo. eventually thanks to @chloeclingerman9883 OK, here we go, I said the photo was a fake because the video was not available despite requests to find it, only 2 hours ago it suddenly appeared, I watched it & worked out the angles & am now happy the video is genuine & congratulations to him. What I said was the photo is a fake that was posted because it was so poorly edited, why the guy who took the photo was on the ball getting the shot spot on which is about a 50/50 chance on something so quick & unexpected, why was the image such a mess with parts poorly edited & a massive oblong chunk edited by the surfers feet, (implying to me the board was in that area originally). He is advised to show the original image & if he can't edit well then leave it. I also stated to everyone when I see the video that will convince me & not the shoddy image that was put online. Great surfing. Shoddy editing. Satisfied 👍.

That is at the end of an incredible ride. This is a split second shot of an aireal kick out of a wave.. All surfers of experience agree on a perfect 10 riden wave. 1 judge disagreed out of 3. He scored 9.9 on this wave.
