So just a quick lesson of hindu mythology, there have been
9 Incarnations of The Deity Shri Vishnu || श्री विष्णु ||
1. Matsya,
2. Kurma,
3. Varaha,
4. Narsingh,
5. Vaman,
6. Shri Parshuram
7. Shri Ram
8. Shri Krishna
9. Shri Gautam Buddha (Siddharth Gautam)
The Stautues of Buddhist monuments technically and religiously belong to the Sanatan Dharm and anyone who doesn't know what the reality is can Google it.
They belong to the land where they are built !! Things don't work like this and many hindu achryas didn't accept Buddha as an Avatar of Vishnu.They say the Buddha mentioned in hindu scriptures is different from Gautam Buddha

People who say these are waste of money should know that tourism exists.
Generally tourists that visit statues are idiots.
Almost every home has some figurines in them why shouldn't a city or country have some. Many locals like them too and it gives the same feeling of pride for your home. Tourism is mainly a byproduct. Ask these same people (if they are American) if they would sign a petition to give the statue of liberty back to France and build homes for the homeless in its place. I think they are just sad that not a single one on the list was American made. $140 million? That's like 3 superbowl commercials.
