One thing I’d say to those who resonate with more than one, it’s because you are all 4 at once, not just one. We are a plurality of functions and traits, which blend together as the individual soul. To believe you are only one of these is to delude yourself to the rest of your psyche.
My recommendation, find which pole you’ve tended towards on each scale. If you are immature in one trait, focus on embodying the positive traits of that archetype. If you are mature in one, don’t take it for granted, and learn to hone that part of yourself even further.
Remember to have some confidence in yourself! But remember to truly self reflect as well. I believe in you!

@@Vladimyrful For sure! I’ve been digging deep into a lot of this stuff the past few months, and the main thing I’ve taken from it so far is not to focus on labelling yourself.
Labels are fine when you’re putting them on the world, like science does, but when you internalize them, all they do is inhibit growth. So I try not to take any label on as something I am, because it’ll never be fully accurate.
Never put yourself in a box, but use these ideas as tools to grow and become the person who can manifest their want and will in the world, and leave it at least a little better than when you got here!

Absolutely correct. The design of the book is to show the Terrain and how to locate yourself on it. Your goal is to balance in the center of it and view the outer corners as the drifting of the shadow. Each quarter has 2 paths up the mountain. You are a manifestation on one of them for each archetype. Maturity is getting up that mountain where you can see the view and have not just perception but perspective.
Though folks have to understand that once you make it to the top its a constant check to see where you are. Its slippery up there at the top and easy to fall back down. Its a constant with humans we tend to over correct before we find balance. So you will find that you might identify too strongly then you over correct and move to the opposite pole of the shadow. though each time that you do you will remain closer to center. Just remember to keep moving forward.

I’m an older sister with one younger brother and a somewhat tyrannical single father. My brother was raised in a way that made him spoiled and irresponsible for his age. I’m trying to guide him into becoming a mature, successful person who doesn’t end up a man-child like our father but I lack the wisdom and authority to influence him significantly. I try to be a good role model by doing well in school, joining the military, and studying engineering, but I’m still just a 19 year old girl who’s unable to teach him what it takes to be a good man. Anyway, I think your videos are great and they help me better identify patterns in the lives of people around me. Everyone else’s advice falls to the wayside comparatively. As a sister you’re doing your job. You’re showing him what it looks like to be successful. And that’s all you can do. Do not stress over doing more for him, because you can’t. And it’s also not your job. Your job is to protect him, no teach him how to be a man. By not using the frustration from it to feed too much of a complex or resentment, but rather use it to fuel and motivate strategies and actions to find a rightful place for you. You are basically talking about DISC. Dominance, Influence, Steadiness and Conscientiousness. It's our four types of personality and we can only have 1 of these, but a few features of the other ones. Dominance and Influence are extroverts Steadiness and Conscientiousness are the introvert ones.
    Dominance - Red
    Influence - Yellow
    Steadiness - Green
    Conscientiousness - Blue
I am of the Conscientiousness profile, introvert.

Thanks Erin, I enjoyed part one. Well organized and straight-forward. A few questions:
You mentioned the relationship between the manipulator and the naive one. Are there any other interactions like that which pop up in folklore? What has your research revealed on how each of the archetypal expressions are shaped by their relations with the others, and the product of those exchanges? And what’s the analysis of how these relations are portrayed in humanity’s collective stories, in reference to the social programming of masculine affectations through history?
i.e. Polti’s 36 dramatic situations, the I Ching hexagrams etc..
    Looking forward to part two!
    Cheers,
    Adam

Thank you for this video Ms Byrd, which is as always, well researched and nicely exposed. It is refreshing, in these particular times, to see women having interests in men’s realm and contemporary reality. Thank you for that and your excellent work.
Like many, I have seen and felt, the dichotomy between most adult men, raised with values entrenched in the past century, and further back, against the recent years of misguided feminism and unchecked capitalism, resulting in the gender debacle unfolding nowadays. As sadly shown by most metrics, may it be natality rates, divorce rate, loneliness, etc.
The sense of having lost the simple common sense and natural tools to share interactions, and lives, between women and men, in such a short time, is baffling to me. Well, in the Western world mostly at least. Which is probably saying more about the culture I belong to than I’d like to admit.
Poor Marguerite Duras she must be spinning in her grave.
Thank you for your work. Cheers

Amazing video! I love Jungian psychology and archetypes. I definitely resonate with the magician, I'm a robotic welding technician. A lot of my job has warrior like aspects, enjoying the labor, getting dirty, working fast, hard and with skill. But it also takes a mix of knowledge and intuition. I also often find myself giving my friends life advice. I see all the archetypes in myself though. I'm a very loving father and husband, I love weight lifting and work.

I have really strong intuition, creativity, intellect and intensive emotions. The description of an undisciplined/chaotic lover felt fairly applicable to me.
I also love fighting (mutually agreed upon fighting like sparring, not malice, in real life I actually prefer to keep the peace/dislike being combative/bad blood) and physical challenges, I resonate with intensely warrior-like characters in fiction too. I think it's part of that intensity and being intense in all aspects.
I think I need to work on my discipline and self control of negative emotions the most.

    • @chrishayes5755

masculine men take accountability. if you got divorced 1) you failed to pick a good life partner or 2) you failed to maintain the relationship. both of these are the key elements in your control.
effeminate men shake their fists from the sidelines and opt-out of the game. they're either unable to attract a high caliber mate, or unable to keep them.

For as long as today is

    But I can’t find you - I can’t find you
    I am not smart enough
    Strong enough
    Fast enough
Or may be I am just not good enough
    I am not a magician
I am not a soldier, a strong man or a hero
    I am not rich
I am not young or pretty, I am not famous
But I feel you in every snow flakes
I see you in every colours
And in all that is pure and beautiful
And I know I will have found you-
    Not in my coffee
    Or in the morning sun
I know I will have found you
When in your eyes I can see me
I know I will have found you
When I can wish upon a fairy
To one day die in your arms
    And be reborn
